  2. Two very valid points! I thought AA was leaving it up to us to get things started, but I very well could be wrong; certainly worth checking in with him! As far as the second issue goes, I don't have anything specific in mind yet, just wanted to get the ball rolling. Might be best to have some initial OOC discussion here, including who took the mayor up on her offer, which I think was only discussed in chat. For the record, Torque said yes.
  3. Torque would like to build on the relationships started by the heroes working together during the hurricane. She'd like to arrange an informal meeting between interested parties to discuss possible future collaborations. Betsy would probably be the point of contact to set things up, but Taye has no idea where such a meeting might take place.
  4. Completely forgot that Corona would be totally out of the loop on the double trick; oh well, at least she's helping to sell it! ?

Lulu lower her hands down to her sides, grimacing the whole time, too scared to make more than the slightest gesture. "Adam hon, can you...move me onto the bed? Just sweep all the junk right off." Her voice was strained but steady, though there was a hint of barely controlled panic just below the surface. Once she was laying down, she turned the new girl. "It's Mia, right? Ah really don't think ah should move right now, but if you could grab someone from the nurse's office right quick, ah'd appreciate it." Then she swallowed as her face clouded with shame. "And... ah'm sorry, about the... ah'm just glad you're okay." Once the teleporter left, Lulu looked up at her boyfriend and began weeping uncontrollably. "Oh Lord...ah could have killed her, Adam! If she didn't have powers? Oh God, ah hate this; ah don't want this!" She buried her face in her hands and continued crying.
  6. "So basically you're good at boxin' and you're really tough? That's cool. Ah ain't tough at all, so ah for one am happy to have you on the Claremont team. 'Diversity is our strength!'" Was that a quote from someone? It probably was, but Lulu wasn't sure. She led Benny right to his door just as Kameron and his charge arrived. "Oh, hi Kam! How was your summer? Oh, and is that Herodotus with you? Hi, nice to meet you!" The cheerful redhead smiled and waved at the Atlantean exchange student.
  7. Disguise roll for Grim: 1d20+40=54 Muhaha! They don't call her 'The Mistress of Mystery' for nothing!
  8. Anyone with enhanced senses might have noticed 'Grim' softly whispering, seemingly to thin air, ut the sharp-eared might have heard the following, in two identical voices. "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" "Almost certainly. Operation Paschal Lamb?" "You got it. Sorry it hurts." "Only for a second." "Good luck." "You, too." Suddenly 'Grim' assumed Rachel's form, pajamas, afro and everything. The changeling's double couldn't reproduce metal, so she cheated by covering parts of her skin with silvery fish scales; it wouldn't hold up to close inspection, but could probably fool a quick glance. "I'm going make a 'mad dash for freedom', so to speak," she said in an uncanny approximation of the tech genius. "Hopefully draw some fire away from the house." She also conjured up a roughly submachine gun-sized device, all black and tactical looking, to hold in her arms in an aggressive manner. "Wish me luck!" She then stepped to the rear door, took several deep breaths as she waited for it to cycle open, and then dashed like a crazy person for the house across the street. Meanwhile, the real Grim moved invisibly to the real Rachel's side. "I'm not going anywhere; I'm your f###ing Secret Service."
  9. Considering she's from southern Alabama, that's a helluva detour! Not ruling it out, but 'tis a bit of stretch. Now, if they're out at the mall or something and her family manages to track her down, that might be more realistic, and kind of terrifying. Definitely down for rebellious teenage shenanigans! Orange Squad is very diverse in terms of powers, many of which (teleportation, illusions, shapeshifting) would be excellent for sneaking out at night! EDIT: also down for road trips!

Suddenly Lulu shook, heaved and coughed up a ton of foul-smelling water all down Adam's back; it smelled earthy, like it came from a swamp. Her coughing continued for about a minute before she stopped and looked over at the weird new girl, Mia; it looked she had a bead on Adam, and you didn't have to be a psychic to know what she assumed. "it's okay," the telepath said weakly as she waved her hand in a dismissive gesture; unfortunately, that gesture was echoed by a lamp, which flew against the wall right next to Ma's head! "I'm sorry!" Horrified, Lulu held up her hands, which even more unfortunately flung Mia backwards out into the hall!
  11. So if anyone on the third floor wants to show up after Lulu's new powers went BOOM, feel free!

As soon as Adam took Lulu in his arms, she reached around and grabbed him with both arms, and there was a loud BOOM! All the objects flew outwards to smash against the floor, walls and ceiling, some of them even shattering upon impact. The young telepath was shaking violently in his arms, and sobbing so hard that sometimes she lost her breath. She clung to him, harder than she'd ever held him before, and then she seemed to pass out. At least her breathing and heart rate were regular; perhaps the strain and hyperventilating had just exhausted her to the point of collapse. She felt small and frail and vulnerable, but at least she seemed to be at peace.

As he entered the room, Adam was hit in the head by a plastic alligator that was flying about the room. Once his eyes adjusted to the moonlight coming into the window, he was treated to a stunning sight: Lulu, wearing a T-shirt and sleepy pants, floating in the air about five feet off the ground! Her back was parallel to the ground, and her arms and legs were spread wide. And perhaps more shocking still, a wide variety of small objects were orbiting around her body in three separate arcs, like asteroids or atomic rings. Lulu's eyes were wide open and she was shaking, seemingly too scared to talk or even move. Once she sensed her boyfriend's presence in the room, her head jerked slightly to one side as her huge eyes met his. - Adam! I hit my head and it started, and now I can't get it too stop! And it hurts! It hurts when I blink! -
  14. Lulu let out a long, slow whistle of air and looked deeply uncomfortable; you didn't need to go back very far to see some very unpleasant branches on her family tree. "Ohhhh, I don't know if that ones over just yet..." Then a thought occurred to her. "So you're up here, spreadin' the message of peace among the Surface folk, right? Has anyone from our side ever attempted a diplomatic mission to the Deep Ones? Or set up any kind of embassy or anythin'? 'Cause it seems to me that would only be fair." As she pondered these questions, she began to send visions of marine life swimming around them, like she'd seen in the big aquarium tanks in Vibora City as a kid, sharks and mantas floating majestically through the air.
  15. "Okay, Benny it is. Well, we do have another Ben right now, so ah might call you Frankie at some point; we'll see how it goes, ah guess." Lulu flipped through the pages on her clipboard. "Ah can walk you to your room, if you like; just want to see who your roommate's goin' to be." She peered down at the page and squinted. "'Heroditus Stylianos'; well, that's a mouthful! Ah guess you'll probably meet him today." She led him inside and up a flight of stairs, waving at several of her fellow students as she passed by; apparently Lulu was a popular student. "So, what kind of powers do you have, Benny, if you don't mind mah askin'? Ah'm a telepath myself."
  16. Lulu resisted the temptation to say something like 'OMG this is so AMAZING!' for the ten thousandth time, because after a while there was just no point in commenting on it. Veronica grew up wealthy and was totally used to this level of luxury, and Lulu just freaking out about it constantly just made her sound like a hillbilly swamp rat. She would still be polite and appreciative and say 'thank you' to all the staff, but she made a solemn vow to herself to stop gawking. "Are you sure," she asked, looking over the sleeping arrangements. "This here's a pretty big bed; plenty of room for two." Taking her bag into the shower, Lulu opted to take a quick shower and get some of the salt water out of her hair, which was probably pretty silly on a boat, but whatever. She came out in a fluffy white robe, toweling her hair dry. "Damn, that's a nice shower." Okay, so one last superlative. She quickly dressed in a blue Hawaiian shirt over a sea green tube top, and a loose white split skirt that billowed around her legs; apparently she was opting to go barefoot for now. The eclectic look contrasted nicely with her pale skin and red hair as it cascaded over one shoulder. "Hot damn, do I feel pretty," said Lulu with a laugh; clearly having access to some nicer clothes was allowing her develop her own sense of style.
  17. I'd love to see Orange Squad do some group activities! The first thing that popped into my head was paintball, but laser tag might be more realistic liability-wise ? If they have the place to themselves via buying it out for half an hour or so, they could probably sneak some power use in! This would be Lulu's suggestion.
  18. After leaving the others, Torque had gone to check on her uncle at the shelter, then take him back to the yard; the wind and rain had definitely done some damage, but it wouldn't take long to clean up. "Heard about what you did on the radio," Otis said as he swept up some broken glass in the office; he was still getting used to his niece's ability, but there was no mistaking the pride in his voice. "You done good, kid." "I wish I could have done more," she said with a sigh, an artifact of her former need for oxygen. "But thank you, uncle." Taye washed up and put on a clean olive drab set of coveralls, then drove herself over to the rear entrance of City Hall disguised as a VBPD cruiser. Once there, she shifted back to humanoid form, and was let inside by an awestruck security guard. Perhaps I should wear some sort of goggles to hide my identity, she mused. "You're very welcome, your honor," Torque stated simply as she shook Farmer's hand. "As a life-long resident of Vibora, I was happy to help, and would happily do so again, if needed."

    - Just, just come up to my room! My roomie's not here and I'm scared! I can't, I can't control my powers! - That sentence was enough to make anyone's blood run cold. Lulu was a very powerful telepath who'd always had excellent control over her powers. The thought of her losing that control was almost too frightening to consider. - Please, Adam! I'm afraid! - The sheer terror in her voice was heartbreaking.
  20. It took all of Lulu's willpower and Southern manners not to wipe her hand on her pants; it was an instinctual response to touching something slimy, but it felt hurtful to do it. Finally, she gave in, but did her best to do it quickly and without comment, and pray that Aquaria would understand. "Who had reason to be scared? The Atlanteans or the Surface-dwellers? Or both?" Suddenly she felt like every white girl in every bad science fiction movie, trying so hard to make 'frey-ends' with an alien. I feel so stupid. Why do I have to help everybody?

Claremont Academy. Sunday, September 8th, 2019. 1:03 am One of the realities of having a telepathic girlfriend is the fact that, as long as you're in range, she can basically reach you at anytime. In the case of Adam Lanchester and Lulu Beaumont's relationship, this meant thoughtful, silly or romantic 'chats' could take place at any hour, but in general the loquacious redhead left her man alone after 9pm most nights. Which made it extra surprising when she suddenly reached out to him the middle of the night, and at extra loud volume at that! - Adam! Adam, wake up! Something f###ing freaky is happening! -
  22. Lulu was impressed by the new boy's athleticism. "Wow, you must be really good at hacky-sack! Okay, let me look at mah almighty clipboard here... Yep, here you are, 'Benjamin d'Amato, room 214'!" She looked up at him brightly; her accent placed her from somewhere in the Deep South. "Well ah'm Lulu Beaumont, and ah'm part of the Welcomin' Committee. Pleased to meet you." She carefully shook his free hand, not wanting to topple him. "Once you readjust your burdens, ah'll be happy to show you to your room." She would have offered to take his duffel bag, but it looked a little heavy for her feeble arms.
  23. Suddenly Casey got a little pink in the cheeks as her natural tendency towards humility clashed with her desire to impress a cute guy; she shrugged awkwardly and waved a hand vaguely in the air, which looked kind of adorable. "I mean, I've been doing this since I was in high school, so I have a...few notches on my belt." She cleared her throat and fiddled with a napkin. Her discomfort was obvious; this was not 'humble bragging', but an old-fashioned girl trying to minimize her accomplishments. "I, uh, once helped save the President-" The blonde heroine shook her head and waved her hand dismissively. "It was a team effort, really...there were a few of us there, at the time. You know, protecting him..."
  24. This may be the one time I ever make this as a key roll ? Knowledge (Civics) roll: 1d20+3=7 Using Luck for a reroll! 1d20+3=19 Yeah, baby, yeah!
