  1. They talk like robots, but they may still be humanoids; only one way to find out! Lulu is going to try and put the hurt on the one who shot at us. DC 20 Will save vs Stunned (Pain)
  2. The woman rose unsteadily to her feet, leaning on Lars for support; she was average height, her trim figure very apparent given the nature of her attire. "Wisconsin? I thought that was a myth. Like Brigadoon." Noting the large amounts of male attention, she became rather self-conscious. "A clinic, you say? That sounds prudent." She patted herself down. "I don't seem to have any money...or pockets. Wait, one pocket." She found the one zippered belly pocket, and reached in to pull out...a pair of handcuffs. She held them in the air before her for a few seconds, then turned to Lars with a bright smile. "Right, a clinic, you say? Let's go there."
  3. "She's alive?" The old beachcomber took a tentative step closer, and leaned out of his boat to take a peek. Seeing that she was attractive, and very much not dead, suddenly Relic became possessive. "I found her! I saved her! You heard him say it!" One of the other day laborers reached down and helped Lars lift the woman up on to the pier, and she was gently laid on her side, in case she coughed up any water, which she oddly did not. Soon her limbs began to shrink back to normal size, knees and elbows in their usual places. Whatever she was wearing, it was not a normal wetsuit, or else she would have either bare feet or flippers on. This suit seemed to include some sort of heelless boots, as well as long gloves. Slowly the woman's eyes began to open, blearily as she looked up at the circle of burly men circled around her. She held up a gloved hand to shield her eyes from the glare. "Hullo." Her accent sounded like upper class English, very 'Oxbridge'. She managed to sit up a little and look around, clearly disoriented. "Um...where the hell am I?"
  4. GM Post A bit of a crowd had formed on the docks, as other day laborers peered down at the scene. The rusted remains of an old ladder allowed 'Lars' to climb down to where the Kitt bobbed up and down on the water. There he could get a better look at Relic's find; the eddy was filled with pop bottles, plastic bags and bits of styrofoam, all clumped around a human form, face down in the filthy water. Based on the size and shape it looked female, with short brown hair and in some sort of slick, black wetsuit, but as the two men struggled to fish it out, something about it looked disturbing. The arms and legs were unnaturally long, and floated in the water at odd angles, as though all the bones had been shattered. In fact, upon closer inspection they moved more like thick snakes or tentacles, entirely fluid. 'What the hell is it?!" Relic dropped his end of the body and scampered back into his boat, clearly repulsed. Lars pushed the damp hair out of the woman's face, and noted two things: she was very pretty, but more importantly, she showed none of the signs of bloating typical to a drowning victim. In fact, she was still breathing!
  5. Gretchen stood with her hands on her hips, looking deeply annoyed but not at all freaked out."I'm fine. Just mad that I fell for this kind of crap again. Magic is so f###ing obvious in retrospect." Finally noticing the tiny people, and their tiny mayor (most likely), the bookseller sighed. "Let me talk to this guy. Then we can see about getting back home." She was about to crouch down, but then worried about crushing one of the little people, so she opted to do something creative. Taking a deep breath, Gretch sank into the ground like it was water, like it was air, until her chin was just above the ground. It looked like she'd been decapitated, but her head was still alive. "How's that? I'm not going to eat you. I had a big lunch, and I don't want your cane stuck in my teeth."
  6. Grim recoiled slightly as her nose wrinkled in distaste. "What? Oh, God no! No, you've got parents and a life and all that good stuff! Stick with that." It seemed like young Davyd had no idea about the possible source of his powers, and Lynn wasn't sure if she should tell him. If anything maybe Daphne should. "Look, speaking for myself, I got my powers when I was not much older than you, but I had no one to talk to about it. And because of that, I got into a little trouble. I just want to make sure you don't make the same mistakes I did, because-" She shifted into the form of Kendall Jenner, hands on her hips. "It can be very tempting to get up to some serious mischief, and that can be a slippery slope." Then she made everything but her skeleton fade to invisibility, a truly impressive (and disturbing!) feat. "Now don't get me wrong, no one's saying to not have any fun; pranks and games are one of the best ways you learn." She raised her hands up and wiggled her bony fingers around. "Oooh, spooky!" And finally the mist swirled around her and she was back to original Lynn. "It's just that we believe, as does Ms. Summers, that mentoring with heroes who understand the tempations of your unique set of powers might be helpful."
  7. I did a thing! Let me know if I need to change anything. EP, if you can think of a good way to be on the scene, feel free to do so. Adrift

GM Post Bedlam Harbor. Tuesday, May 21st, 2019. 8:35 am. You found all sorts of useful junk floating in Lake Michigan; wood, bottles, bits of plastic. Stafford T. Phillips, mostly known as 'Relic' to his few friends, had been plying his trade on these waters for decades, collecting these treasures in his little jet boat, the Eartha Kitt, then selling them for scrap, or to several local artists who worked in found materials. A few hours every day with his net and his crook was usually all he needed to maintain his simple lifestyle. This morning, Relic was poking around the eddies that caught junk by the base of Pier 7, a favorite spot of his. He was leaning over to snag a particularly promising looking mass with his crook, when he realized it was a body; he only saw a quick flash of wetsuit and a floating cloud of hair, but that was enough to chill his blood and twist his stomach. "Holy s###," he cried out. "Holy s###!" Somehow in all his years of scrap hunting, he'd never come across a body before, and now that he had, he had no idea what to do. In a panic, he raised his voice as loud as he could to see if someone nearby could help him. "Hey! Hey! We've got a body down here! A human body!"
  9. Is there a dock he'd be more likely to be near? And would he know of JETTE by reputation? Maybe he brings Eel to her to help her figure out who she is.
  10. Would TM be more likely to find a stranger washed up somewhere?
  11. I meant logistically, I guess. As in who runs it, whats a good place for her to wash up, who does she encounter first, etc.
  12. For the longest time, Gretchen merely stood there, staring down at the tiny buildings, arms hanging limply at her sides. Then slowly, she brought her hands up into clenched fists, and began to rise up into the air! And once she was a few feet up into the air, she threw back her head and shouted as loudly as she ever had in her life. "FUUUUUUUUU#########!" Gretchen slowly floated back down to the ground, shaking her head. "Einstein said that insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. By that definition, I went crazy a long time ago." She turned around to face Robin, a very weary expression on her face. "How are you? Are you okay?"
  13. Lynn pursed her lips and leaned back in her chair, then stared at the blind man for several seconds as she drummed her nails on the arm rests. "Hmmmmm. Hmmmm." She looked around the room, her eyes falling on various objects as she puzzled over this dilemma. Finally she dismissed the figures with a wave of her hand, then locked her fingers in her lap. "Okay, I see where you're going with this; reminds me of that otherwise crappy I, Robot movie with Will Smith." She sighed and looked straight at Murk. "I just...I can't help but see an elitist angle to all of this, like somehow someone who lives forever is inherently better than someone with a normal lifespan. 'Cause there are some pretty s###y people out there with superpowers, including some form of immortality; some of them got their powers by freak accidents, and some got them by doing truly awful things. Are we to reward them for being immortal just because they are immortal? Is the path they used to get there irrelevant?"
  14. What say you, EP? Would you be down with an Eel/JETTE/Tattered Man thread? And if so, who would we make it work?
  15. Tattered Man and JETTE seem like a good pair; have they ever worked together, or even just shared a thread?
  16. The young telepath could almost feel the effort Judy put into switching gears, like a car going up on two wheels in a sharp turn. But she chose to respect the other girl's wishes; if she wanted to help her out and be friends, she had to resist the old desire to burrow deep into her mind and unearth all her secrets. That was the old Lulu, the little girl whose parents taught her to think of other people's minds as her personal playground. And was not that girl anymore. -It's only our first year; things will probably get crazy in the fall. And I bet you by senior year, Claremont will be nuts!- Then Lulu bit her lip, and she dared to ask a rather sensitive question. -So, if it's not too personal, what's Leroy really like? Because he kind of comes off as a jerk sometimes.-
  17. Lulu really didn't care for Corinne, not that it was a big deal. If you asked her why, she'd have a hard time putting a finger on it; perhaps as someone who was used to seeing people reduced to their basic motivations, the LA girl's mercurial nature rubbed her the wrong way. Or it could be about class, a poor, pale Alabama girl resenting a beautiful tanned girl who smelled like money and sunshine. It bothered her that it bothered her, but Corinne would be graduating soon, and then they'd probably be out of each other's lives forever, with neither of them having any real impact on the other. But right now, Lulu f###ing loved her for calling Leroy out on his BS, and she had to hold back a maniacal cackle, a feeling she immediately regretted the minute Judy stood by her man. She had to remember she wasn't a kid anymore, and Claremont wasn't Columbia, Alabama, the town she used to think of as her personal reality show. Everything had consequences now. Lulu said nothing, merely taking a deep breath as she soldiered on with the rest of the tour.
  18. Would that be Lady Horus and Wadjet, or do you have another separate Bedlam PC?
  19. So my new Bedlam PC the Eel just got approved (many thanks, Fox and AA!), and I had an idea for intro thread, if someone would be interested in running it. The idea is Eel washes up on the shore or at the docks of Bedlam, with no memory of how she got there or anything really other than her 'name'. Disoriented, she may wander around on her own or be discovered by a favorite PC or NPC. I'm pretty open as to how this goes, or even how many folks are involved, though I guess limiting it to two other characters seems reasonable. Let me know if this is something you'd be interested in!
  20. This was not a good scene; as much as Casey wanted to grab Darlene and drag her back to the Pi House, her professional side now felt the need to hang around and figure out if the place was just over the top or actually up to no good. "A rum and Coke, please." "I'll have a margarita, thank you very much. I must say, you throw one hell of a soiree; it reminds me of one of our..." As Darlene activated her 'Southern socialite mode' (God, she was such a legacy!), Casey did her best to nonchalantly scan the mansion, first on the intrafred, then next the X-ray spectrum. If something was amiss, hopefully she could find it.
  21. Ah, okay! Well, in some ways, that's better than the actual feat! I'll remove it.
  22. Okay, opted to just drop the Extra and Flaw from Drain Wisdom; let me know what you think.
  23. Yeah, I think she turned out pretty good! Another case of a PL7 version being more intersting than the original PL10 one. I think this is all fixed now, though Knockback still might be off. This should be correct now. Ambidextrous covers all limbs if you take Additional Limbs, and Improved Grapple comes free with AL, if those weren't clear before. Powers Eel can use her feet like hands, like one of those people with no arms who learns to type, paint or tie someone's tie with their toes. So she could be having dinner with someone and pick their pocket with both hands on the table! The idea was that she constantly secretes the Wisdom-draining toxin, and can't turn it off; if that's not appropriate for Drain, I may have to rework that power to afford it. Fixed.
  24. Lulu cringed at Judy's reaction to the events of last Halloween; she was an idiot to speak so cavalierly about a subject the poor girl clearly took much more seriously than herself. -I'm sorry. I know it's no excuse, but after a while, everything seems normal here. Alien invasions, demonic possession...it all starts to blur together. I think the school doesn't advertise this stuff because they're afraid of causing a panic everytime something weird happens. She folded her hands on her lap and sighed. -Yeah, youth group might be a good idea. I miss going to church, too; it would be nice to go somewhere where I don't know everyone's dirty secrets. It was hard to hear our preacher talk about sin when I knew he was having an affair with the sheriff's wife.-
  25. Feel free to reduce that picture by half, if you can!
