  1. The combination of the punk's indifference and the owner's annoyance did much to douse the anger in Casey's belly. The former Girl Scout visibly relaxed and unclenched her fists as she let out a long slow breath before turning to Frank, looking apologetic; you could almost hear the sound of her holstering invisible weapons as she 'powered down'. "I'm very sorry, sir; I didn't mean to interfere with your business. We'll be good." She spared 'Blue' one more cool glance before returning to her seat, her seriously freaked-out friends giving her just a little more space in the booth. "What the hell was that, Case," murmured Darlene incredulously. "You were terrifyin'!" "You were awesome," replied Lola, grinning and shaking her head in disbelief. "Can you teach me that crazy death stare?" "That was some serious Clint Eastwood s###," Steph said as she appraised her friend with fresh eyes. "Very impressive." For her part, Casey just shrugged nonchalantly as she took a sip of water. "I don't like bullies, is all; you would've done the same for me."
  2. That punks probably all hopped up on Jingle Jangle! He's not afraid of anything!
  3. Eh, it happens; I would have rolled in the hopes of getting higher, but that's when you roll crap, and it's not worth blowing an HP on a reroll. On the plus side, her friends are now terrified of her, which might mean they always save her some milk in the morning.
  4. Casey's goung to use Skill Mastered Intimidate; DC 20.
  5. When Blue attempted to shove Casey out of the way, he was surprised to feel rock-hard resistance, like he was trying to push a house! The blonde heroine swivelled her head to glare at him with a brutally intense gaze. "Stay. Back." She then stood up, her gaze never wavering, and stood between her sorority sisters and the boys, feet planted, clenched fists at her side, daring Blue or any of his companions to try anything. "Let the doctor help your friend. Then go." "Holy s###, Case," whispered Lola, stunned and a little impressed to see this side of her friend. Steph's eyes darted nervously between the punks, Casey, the doctor and Frank, while Darlene just wordlessly swallowed her gum.
  6. No, she's resisting. 1d20+10=16, unless you add her ranks in Super Strength, in which case it would be 26, but I don't think you do. Edit: and now we know it's actually a 20
  7. Lynn Epstein and Gretchen McDaniels entered Morley's together, holding hands; Lynn was beaming, and even her introverted partner was looking more or less comfortable, very different from last year's heroic get-together when Gretch felt compelled to leave early. Lynn looked liked she just come in wrangling cattle in a suede cowboy jacket, jeans, and riding boots, topped with a black Stetson, while Gretch was in her usual black motorcyle jacket, tattered jeans, Doc Martens and a hoodie. As was often the case, the pair were communicating mentally. - Nice. This is much more my speed. - - I agree. I'm glad you agreed to come, especially considering how things turned out the last time. - Noticing the conversation between Moe and Klara, Gretchen couldn't help but smile at the size discrepancy. - That girl needs a good pair of stilts. - - Oh, it's Klara! I remember her from last year! - The two brunettes made their way over to Voin; in truth, they were not much taller than Moe, and also had to look up at her to speak. "Greetings," Lynn began in a thin, reedy voice, holding herself stiff and erect. "We are emissaries from Munchkin Land. We come in peace!" "Please ignore her." Gretchen said as she shook her head. Then she acknowledged Moe with a friendly nod. "Hey."
  8. I wouldn't say we're full yet; we only have four named characters and a few people who've mentioned interest. Also, you could always GM!
  9. In a matter of seconds, Casey's demeanor shifted from tense and annoyed to deeply concerned once the punk collapsed Crap! How many darn drugs was that guy taking? With surprising speed and athleticism, Casey managed to leap out of the booth, do a backflip and land next to the unconcious hooligan, without so much as spilling a drop of egg nog, much to the surprise of her sorority sisters. "Oh my Lord," gasped Darlene. "Jesus," cried Lola. Crouched next to 'Rooster', Casey quickly elevated the young man's head, checked his pupils, heartrate and breathing, and made sure his airway was clear. "Don't worry, I'm trained in CPR! Where's that medkit?" The transformation from happy-go-lucky sorority girl to razor-focused rescue worker was as drastic it was sudden.
  10. "Hot stuff, coming through!" A very cheerful Miracle Girl came out of the food prep area, carry a large aluminium tray full of macaroni & cheese; judging from the steam rising off of it, it was piping hot, but the blonde heroine easily held it with her bare hands. She wore her usual red, white and blue bodysuit, but she'd wrapped a red and white wool scarf around her neck as a festive touch; it was a gift from her grandmother, and it was covered with smiling snowmen. Casey was delighted when she heard about the soup kitchen; how did she not know about this before? The teen powerhouse had shown up before dawn, her full toolkit and first aid supplies at the ready in case of any emergency. Until know, she'd been so busy helping set up that she hadn't taken the time to greet any of the others supers present. "If you could just let me...squeeze past," she asked Scarab as she approached one of the folding tables, looking for a place to put her burden down. "Careful, it's hot! I'm Miracle Girl, by the way; nice to meet you! I'd shake hands, but- " She indicated the tray of cheesy goodness with a smile and a shrug.
  11. I can tell you Casey is very tense
  12. That sounds like an awesome idea! So at this point, potentially, we would have Doctor Deoxy, Red Moon, Ditra Fifty-Five and Solar Sentinel as either core members or auxiliaries/guest stars; that's a pretty cool and diverse line-up! The big hurdle would be coming with explanations of how they all meet (Ditra and Sentinel know each other, but I think that's it), where they get the ship from, and who or what gives them their transdimensional focus. Any ideas, Tiff, secret or otherwise? Edit: oh, one idea I had was that for some reason, Ditra gets assigned to be a Coalition ambassador to Earth, so there's one possible thread for the tapestry.
  13. Maybe finally find a use for Solar Sentinel?
  14. By the way, I'm sitting on three unspent Rewards, so I can pay for our trans-dimensional ship outright
  15. So the other day in the chat room, the CW's Legends of Tomorrow came up, and someone mentioned how cool it would be to have a team like that, even though that would probably involve more time travel than is safe or convenient to roleplay. I agreed it would be cool, and suggested my own PC Ditra Fifty-Five might be a good fit for such a team. I said this in part because I really like the character, but the space side of our campaign hasn't really clicked for me, probably because I never followed the space storylines before, and I always feel like I'm playing catch up. But then another idea struck me; what about a team that specialized in visiting other Earths? I don't know if there's enough ideas or GMs out there to make it work, but the idea of a team flying between alternate dimensions in a Waverider-type ship appeals to me. Anyone else find the idea intriguing?
  16. This was all very intriguing; this Russian fellow appeared to be a long way from home, and Lynn couldn't help what brought him all the way to this little pub in Freedom. Raising her mug in greeting, she offered a traditional Russian toast she'd heard was used back in the Old Country; her Russian was flawless, with no trace of an American accent, though she sounded like she might be from near Kiev. <"May we always have a reason to rejoice!"> After she had her swig, she rested her head on top of Moira's and indicated the Russian with a nod. "Surely you must have tales to tell, friend Dmitri; what brings you to Freedom?"
  17. Well to be fair, that is the most recent adventure these three shared!
  18. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but based on your descriptions, I feel it's safe to say Casey could detect these signs on all the punks. If I am, I will happily edit my post.
  19. The alcohol was starting to have it effect on three of the four girls; they became a bit louder and more animated as their inhibitions loosened. But not Casey; she was stone cold sober, and she heard every part of the boys' conversation as her hands squeezed into tight fists under the table. She wasn't worried on Moe's account; no girl that tiny walked with that much confidence unless she had powers, so she was sure she could take care of herself. No, she was worried for everyone else in the diner, including her friends. And here came one of the slimeballs right now... The girls all leaned forward and whispered and giggled rather loudly; Lola rolled her eyes, Stephanie shook her head in disbelief, and Darlene leaned back in her seat and adopted a somewhat more provactive pose. Casey was the only one who sat perfectly still, eyeing the punk. A quick scan in the infrared confirmed his body temperature was elevated and his heart was racing; clearly he was on some kind of stimulant. "Well, hel-lo there," Darlene murmured as she played with her necklace, her accent now much heavier (it was her secret weapon). "What are you fine young gentleman up to this evenin'?" The blonde heroine said nothing, her gaze behind her glasses flicking between her intoxicated friend and the hopped-up punk, ready to come to her defense the very nanosecond he tried something inappropriate. Don't do it...dooon't do it...
  20. Well now! My first thought is to separate the combatants until we know what the hell is going on; this would involve initiating a grapple with the Ring of Power's Move Object 10. Even though the yuppie is the one holding the knife, and therefore the more dangerous weapon, presumably the guy in the hockey mask is the aggressor, so Gretchen would then dodge and activate the power, probably just levitating Mr. Voorhees up to the ceiling.
  21. Lynn shook her head as she signaled for the waitstaff. "Hey, dude! The 90s, was like, the coolest decade ever." She began to count off points on her fingers. '"Disney animation renaissance which gives Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Lion King and Aladdin. Nickelodeon. Titanic. Backstreet Boys. Brittany Spears. Christina Aguilera. Buffy. Dawson's Creek. The Simpsons. Seinfeld. Frickin' Friends!" She drove her hand into her fist like a lawyer laying out her case. "The list goes on and on, my friend! On and on!" Once someone came around to take her drink order, the changeling requested a toasty Irish coffee, because it seemed like the perfect thing to hold in front of a fire. "Mmm, I love this time of year! So what holiday plans do you guys have?" However the conversation was soon forgotten once 'Kristof' came in out of the cold; Lynn found herself fascinated by him, and wonder what brought such a person into Moira's pub this night.
  22. Casey came to the conclusion that Moe was an excellent waitress, and looked foward to giving her a very good tip; she was also excited to show her that she knew more than just 'good evening' and 'thank you' once she came back with their nogs. But then a bunch of ruffians came in, and began acting somewhat distruptively; her first instinct was to think of them as criminals, but then she checked herself. It is not a crime to be loud and obnoxious; well, technically it is, but they were nowhere near that level yet, so for the moment, she just kept them within her peripheral awareness and focused on her friends. Stephanie shook her head at Darlene's observation. "I don't know, Dar; he seems a little sketchy even by your standards. Besides, what would 'daddy' say?" "Oh, what he don't know won't hurt 'im," the lovely Georgian said with a dismissive wave of her hand. She then attempted to make eye contact with 'Red'. Just then, their waitress reappeared, and Casey beamed as she took the opportunity to display more of her Japanese fluency. "Hello again, Moe," she began cheerfully as she did her little half-bow. "And thank you! My roommate in high school was Japanese, and she got me started. I try to use it whenever I can to stay fluent." "Here, let's have a toast," offered Lola, and all four girls picked up up their cups. "To my fellow Pis; the best sisters a girl could have!" "Salud!" "Amen!" "Kampai!" They all took big swigs of nog, except for Lola, who drained hers. Casey, however, paused to lick her lips, then sniff her cup, brow furrowed with concern. "Hey, guys? I think there's booze in this." The other three all loudly shushed her. "Would you keep your voice down," hissed Darlene. "Yeah, we noticed, and it's amazin'." "But...I don't think he has a liquor licence," she continued in a hoarse whisper, still not getting it. "And we're all underage!" Lola reached out and placed both her hands on those of the straight-laced blonde. "Casey, I know you used to be a Girl Scout-" "No, you're always a Scout," Casey corrected her. "It's like being a Marine." "Whatever. The point is, we're in college now; this is when you're supposed to take chances, right? To spread your wings and fly! You wanna fly, doncha?" "Well, technically, um..." She looked from face to face, not wanting to disappoint her sisters. Besides, it wasn't like this much alcohol was going to affect her. And that way, she could an eye on her friends, right? "Okay, fine; I'm in!" She raised her cup again. "Kampai!" "Kampai!" "Kampai!" "Kampai!" You know, the booze really did make the nog taste better...
  23. I mean, if she thinks she's gonna hurt someone on the other side, she could push the door open rather then slam it.
  24. Oh, well she would look at the hinges and see which way it opens; if it opens outward, I can change the post to reflect her pulling it open.
  25. The front door swung open, and in from the cold and snow stomped a small woman hefting a very large cardboard box. It looked like Lynn Epstein had a few more donations for the food bank. "Hey! Uh, can I get a little help with this? I may have gotten...a little overzealous with the giving." Once she was in unencumbered, she made her way over towards her two friends, beaming with a face red from the cold. (Technically, this was a shapeshifter special effect, as the tiny changeling didn't get cold.) "Hi guys! Man, it is colder than a witch's...well, something out there! At least I think it is. Lots of scarves and such." She gave them both quick hugs and kisses on the cheek before taking off her coat and grabbing a seat. "So, what's goin' on? What's the haps?"
