  1. Miraculized... that's a word right? - Absurdist Miracle Girl Casey has 4PP to spend, and they're going into skills, skills, skills! Some of these she researched before going undercover as the criminal 'Hardcase', and some she learned more conventionally (i.e. driving lessons from her brother Josh). Disable Device 7 (+10), 7 skill points Drive 2 (+5), 2 skill points Ride 3 (+5), 1 skill point Sense Motive 9 (+10), 6 skill points 104 Ranks = 26PP (Hope this is okay; for such minor edits, I didn't feel like doing the whole sheet.)
  2. This is the beginning of an entry for the PED chapter located at FCU; I've been doing a lot of research into American sororities and 'Greek life' in general, and it's actually pretty interesting stuff. Modern sororities are based on sisterhood, academic achievement and philanthropy, three things that Casey Blankenship (aka Miracle Girl) stands for, so I felt it was the natural continuation of her time with the Girl Scouts. Of course, there's also parties and silliness, which I intend to handle in a mature fashion. Casey will also meet her roomie and fellow pledge Maria Sangre (aka Sanguine), which will also be cool. I'm trying to avoid the 'sinister sorority full of mean girls and bitches' cliche, but since this is Freedom, I'm gonna toss in a little weirdness. Yes, there will be some mean girl NPCs, but also cool girls and girls who just want to do their homework and get good grades. More to come!
  3. PI EPSILON DELTA Alpha Chapter, FCU Founded: October 27th, 1905 (Freedom City College, Freedom City, NJ) Sorority Type: Social Emphasis: Traditional Values and Sisterhood Scope: National Motto: Patebit Tum Quod Latuit That Which Is Hidden Shall Be Revealed Colors: Blue and White Symbol: Tower Flower: Evening Primrose Jewel: Moonstone Publication: The Tower Philanthropy: Various and extensive Chapters: 50 Mascot: Owl: Wisdom and strength Alpha Chapter Senior Officers: Rivian St. Clair, President Janine Maitland, Vice President Isabella Vasquez, Secretary 2017 Freshman Pledges, West Gables Housing Unit: Casey Blankenship, Journalism. Casey is an athletic blonde from Colorado. A former Girl Scout, she's very outdoorsy and into environmental causes. Caucasian. Lola Carbone, Engineering. A very out lesbian from Boston, came to FCU on a basketball scholarship. Very direct and to the point, but fun-loving. Caucasian. Crystal Henshaw, Psychology. Very open and expressive, but easily overwhelmed by negativity. Originally from Cleveland, OH. African-American. Stephanie Kowalski, Political Science. A complicated girl from a well-connected family in Philadelphia. Loves chess and video games, also a former Girl Scout. Caucasian. Darlene Lampwick, Pre-Law. A flirty Southern belle from Atlanta, third generation Legacy. Outgoing blonde who is smarter than she looks. Caucasian. Maria Sangre, Entrepreneurship. Maria is a Nuyorican. She is not bossy, she is the boss. Well, she likes to think. Is a bonafide superhero with the power to manipulate blood. Free cures were probably a big part in her acceptance. Latina. Elizabeth Scanlon, Pre-Med. A borderline Goth from Jersey City with a morbid sense of humor. Kinda gross. Likes to be called ‘Scanner’ for some weird reason. Caucasian. May Yuen, Economics. Comes from a wealthy family in Arlington, VA. Very driven and success-oriented, doesn't socialize much. Chinese-American. West Gables Room Key: A: Lola and Stephanie’s Room. Small room at the end of the hall, with two closets. Steph doesn't use the desk here because it's too small; instead, she set up her custom PC in the Quiet Study Area (Room B). Lola has set up a chin-up bar in her closet, just inside the room; she also put a Nerf basketball hoop across from her bed. B: Quiet Study Area. Features two desks (one of which has been permanently claimed by Steph), well-stocked bookshelves and four leather reading chairs. Cozy. C: Darlene and May's Room. Cleanest room on the floor, fairly girly in terms of décor. Both closets are full of expensive, fashionable clothes. Darlene and May spend very little time here; the former is typically out socializing, the latter at the library studying. D: Common Room. The ‘living room’ of the West Gables, with two leather sofas, a coffee table, a wall-mounted flatscreen TV and three game systems (the latest PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo models). There's also a small dorm fridge and microwave. Always smells of nachos, ramen or microwave popcorn. E: Crystal and Elizabeth's Room. Two girls, one closet; not a great situation. This room has a split personality, one half clean and pleasant, the other dank and hostile, and the ‘dank side’ is winning. ‘Scanner’ rarely leaves her room, leaving the non-confrontational Crystal to wander around the rest of housing unit. F: Showers. The windows here look over the courtyard, but the glass is all frosted for privacy. Always slightly funky, despite the best efforts of the house cleaning staff. G: Bathroom. Eight young women sharing one communal bathroom makes for a lot of chaos, especially on Friday or Saturday nights. There's a locked closet of some kind on the right hand wall, but no one knows where the key is at the moment. The windows are also frosted in heree. H: Stairwell. A beautiful old stairwell rises up the whole height of the chapter house, topped with an elegant stained glass dome. A vintage elevator, with sliding metal gate and brass fixtures, allows students to ride with comfort. I: Main Hallway. The hallways are all carpeted to minimize noise on the floor at night. Pictures of former ‘Pis’ from decades past line the walls, laughing, singing or marching in long-forgotten protests, creating a sense of nostalgia and/or melancholy in the more sensitive. J: Casey and Maria's Room. (Player Characters will furnish this room.) K: Kitchen. A well-stocked food preparation area, with two full stoves, two full-sized fridges, two microwaves and a large double sink. There's plenty of counter space, a small table with three chairs, and two vending machines, one for drinks, the other for snacks. An espresso machine and coffee maker make this a busy area on weekday mornings. Also used as an alternate ‘hang out’ space. L: Dining Hall. A large communal dining area with long tables right out of Hogwarts. Sometimes used as an alternate study area. The gas fireplace still works, which is a good thing, because the old tile floor is always freezing. M: Fire Door: Opening this door sets off the fire alarm; beyond it is a disused ballroom, various storerooms and ultimately the East Gables housing unit.

  5. It appeared Ditra had walked in on a rather intense discussion, and so she patiently waited for the sentients to come to a natural pause in the conversation; in truth, she'd picked a less than ideal moment to introduce herself, so she didn't mind waiting, though part of her guessed there could be an element of prejudice towards her people at play... The Diplo bowed and smiled at the journalist's inquiry. "The Second Hive is well, Sri Hro, thank you for asking. Like all sentients, we are eager to see the results of the election." Then she shook her head and sighed. "And as far a 'mammalian frippery' is concerned, nothing could be farther from the truth. The Nameless have a great deal of respect for the democratic process; we just had the temerity to try and control it." It was a surprisingly honest statement, and therefore rather uncomfortable to hear, especially considering the source. Unlike many of her people, Ditra never denied the legacy of the Nameless, which admittedly made her work much harder; she just felt any diplomatic relationship built on a foundation of lies would never stand the test of time. Truly, idealism is my curse. The lovely Diplo smiled at the Terran, held her hands out as though she was holding an invisible dress and curtsied. "An honor, Sri Steward; I hope one day to have the privilege of visiting your homeworld." And then the Speaker for Dotrae addressed her. Many sentients made the mistake of assuming that as two telepathic hive minds, the two races should get along famously, whereas nothing could be farther from the truth; if anything, they were diametrically opposed both philosophically and structurally. For just a few sobering seconds, Ditra had a vision of what a war between the two races would be like, and the thought brought her a great sadness; the Dotrae clearly had the numerical advantage, but the horrors that her Nameless brothers and sisters could inflict- "Not at all," the Diplomatic unit countered with a shake of her head and a wave of her hand, a warm smile expertly masking her earlier dark musings. "If anything, I should apologize to the Dotrae for the interruption; it is not often that sentients have the opportunity to discuss faith and galactic history in times of peace, and the practice should never be discouraged." In response to the Speaker's question, she looked about the room, a very humanoid gesture as she simply could extend her mental awareness, but thought it might be rude in mixed company, as several of the races present would surely detect it. "I do believe I saw...yes, Marlen Forty-Seven of the First Hive is over there," she said as she indicated a gold-skinned Tactical with a nod, his large, bulky frame barely contained by a dress robe in very conservative style. The delicate glass holding his drink looked impossibly small in his hand. "In truth, he is very earnest, but in terms of conversation...well, let us say the well quickly runs dry. Still, he's an excellent Councillor, and I'd be honored to introduce you." As to the Speaker's final question, here the green-skinned beauty sighed and adjusted her jumpsuit. "My people have engaged in a dance of lies and half-truths for nearly two centuries; perhaps it's time for a little transparency." She indicated the Tac across the room with a wave of her hand. "The Primes favor the Grand Nauarchus; they tend to be rather consevative and value stability, hence her obvious appeal." And here she thoughtfully bit her lip. "I also think they hope that by publicly backing her, it might improve her and the Navy's opinion of our race overall; I think that's perhaps a bit naive, but they must vote as they believe. The Seconds, such as myself, tend to find inspiration in the words of the Ambassador, and we hope her actions follow her words. And the Tertians-" And here her lips curled in disgust. "Wish to see the galaxy burn." There was acid in Ditra's mouth, and she signalled a waiter for a drink.

  8. "We need to move now," declared the pixie with a surprising amount of authority for her size. 'We can argue or kill each other on our own time! Atraxia said there's a road this way!" The volley of arrows came nowhere near her; she was far too fast and tiny for them to pose a significant threat, but the rest of their party might not be so lucky. After quickly flying up over the canopy to check her bearings, Grim dropped back down to lead the rest of the group, she hoped to safety. "This way; follow me!"
  9. Reflex save for Grim: 1d20+16=32 Yes, she has the reaction speed of a chihuahua on meth; in fact, only a critical failure (if we're using those) would've hit her.
  10. Based on that roll, you'd get the first two items on Grim's Arcane Lore table, ZB, but nothing definitively links her to Silberman's. I think Diplomacy is a Contested roll against your Sense Motive.
  11. Maybe this is how Ditra joins the Praetorians in the first place? She volunteers her services as a translator and diplomat, and then she meets them, though they may have some knowledge of each other from the Incursion.
  12. Is his ship at least for hire? Ditra would need a lift
  13. Should I make some kind of Diplomacy roll? EDIT: in case it's needed. Diplomacy check: 1d20+15=21
  14. Lynn slapped herself on the forehead. "Omigod, that's right! You were, like the fire-breathing carney guy, right? Boy, I sure got around back in the day. Of course, I looked a little different back then-" And here her form was temporarily obscured by swirling mist, which parted to reveal Grimalkin in full costume, although the yellow robe was still over it. Grim was much thinner and younger looking than 'Lynn', and when she spoke, her voice was a slightly higher pitch as she clutched her hands together dramatically and sighed. "Ah! Such sweet, sweet, memories of a wayward youth!!" In response to the Texan's questions, she shrugged. "Apparently, it's some sort of Lunar tongue from Farside City; first time I've ever heard it or spoken it." And then she stepped to other side of Scion and wrapped her arm around her as well. "And as far as this little vixen is concerned, she's been crashing at me and my girlfriend's place for the last six months! Has it been a lot like one of those racy anime shows where everyone in high school has superpowers? Yes. Yes, it has." But once the newcomer (who was apparently disabled) made her appearance, all jocularity was quickly thrown aside. "Whoa there, missy! We're the good guys!" There was a sharp inrush of air as Grim's empty robe collapsed, and she zipped out of it in pixie form to hover in front of the frightened young woman. "The name's Grimalkin; maybe you've heard of me? We have no idea how we got here, either; maybe you can help us figure out where we are and how we got here? I tried to contact my partner the Shrike, but we're out of range, which means we're at least two hundred miles away from Freedom, if not farther; I don't detect any indications of modern industry or transportation. We might not even be on our Earth anymore" And then the tiny sprite waved her hand, and a pair of wooden crutches appeared beside Nicole, leaning against the tree.

Her photogenic appearance, positive attitude and tireless commitment to helping people have made her a popular heroine. She flies and is very strong. 16. Lynn's ass abruptly hit the ground as the folding chair and the rest of Earth Prime disappeared, leaving her sprawled on the ground in the stupid robe. Her first thought was simple annoyance. "What the f*** just happened?! Moira, did you do this?" But then she noticed the former goddess's own confusion, and it quickly became clear that something else was up. "Or...not." The changeling began to sniff the air, trying to detect any traces of man-made emissions that would give her a sense of how far they were from civilization. Her ears were also straining to catch the sound of a nearby road or highway. And then her eyes fell upon the frightened, withered creature that spoke a language that felt like death, and she shuddered despite herself. What was that made-up tongue they had in D&D called? Grave argot. It took her a few seconds for her faerie gift for languages to kick into gear, but soon Lynn grasped the creature's meaning and even responded, though somehow the words were silver and silk upon her tongue. <"I'm not sure how we got here; I was on Earth Prime with my friend here, watching the eclipse."> She pointed at the sun above, which appeared much the same as it did back home. <"That eclipse, to be precise."> She put a hand to her chest, then indicated her 'house guest' with a nod. <"My name is...Grimalkin, and this is Scion. Can I ask, what language we are speaking? I'm not familiar with it."> She decided to stick to 'professional' names as a precaution. Finally she noticed the only male present; the changeling frowned, then sniffed the air again. "Do I know you? You smell awfully familiar..."
  17. This seems custom made for Ditra Fifty-Five!
  18. Is this thread still a going concern? If so, I think Kolo's up next.
  19. At least Grim will understand you, and if need be we can assume she translates 'between panels', as it were.
  20. I hate to ask this...but can Red Moon speak English without her terrasuit? If not, there are workarounds; Grim can speak any language, or maybe there's a property to this new world we're in that translates for us.
  21. Reread the thread to refresh my memory, and I didn't see any mention of Terrifica and MG discussing the exact way Campbell died; I guess we could always it happened 'between panels' as it were, but I like to think the super-genius didn't say anything, in part not to contaminate her protege's own developing skills at deduction. I think based on the limited facts presented and Casey's pretty good Intelligence score (16) that it's a reasonable hypothesis for her to come up with on her own. EDIT: slight edit made; I think her initial hypothesis was too on the nose
  22. "Oh no you don't, mister," scolded Casey as she snatched the tiny creature back up in her hands. "We can't have you running loose around the lab!" Holding the miniature therapod once again, she thought back over the facts in the case so far; the scratch marks, this little guy playing with the water and turning it to crystal, Terrifica's mentioning of a 'strange death.' A distrurbing picture began to appear, and she found herself unconciously holding the creature at arm's length. "You never said how the victim died. Was the fluid in his body somehow...turned to crystal?"
  23. Early on at the barbeque, Casey felt a bit underdressed, so she slipped on a photographer's vest from inside her hemp bag, which made her feel a little less like a teenager hanging out after school; she felt a bit more like the journalist she planned to become. It felt so strange, having all these adult conversations, and it occurred to the young student that this was the first "grown up" party she'd ever been to; she was used to family gatherings, which lots of other kids her age, cousins and nieces and nephews. And...she liked it; she didn't feel like anyone was talking down to her, and when she brought up topics of conversation with Dr. Beardly or another of Sam or Stan's colleagues, they listened to what she had to say, nodded, smiling, adding to the conversation. She had no idea how long she'd been waiting to have conversations like this. And the food! Well, it was true Casey fit a lot of very American stereotypes when it came to food, but she at least tried to experiment a bit, although it was strictly a no go on the Peking duck and chicken feet (she'd had a pet duck named 'Kibbles' when she was little). Still, there's no shortage of things to eat, and eventually even her nuclear furnace of a digestive system became sated. She practically had to waddle over to Dr. Carson, plopping into a folding chair beside her. "Wow! You. really..you really know how to throw a shindig, boss!" She chuckled and then sighed, her eyes taking in the totality of the event. "Mmmm. You've really built a life here, you and Stan; I hope to have half your happiness someday!"
  24. Dare I suggest the Shrike for Thread 1? She's a sidekick, a musician and her partner is a former Interceptor? If that's too far removed, I'm cool with that.
