  1. "For better or worse, everyone here is a real as can be, ma'am; even the clown," offered Casey. "And right now, we're not in any position to turn down help from any world." The talk of the Fanatic as a separate entity was indeed very disturbing; many of the same thoughts Agent Warne was having occurred to the blonde powerhouse as well, albeit minus some of the more legal ramifications. It certainly seemed to be a nightmarish scenario with few easy ways out. At the agent's suggestion, she nodded vigorously. "I'd be happy to fly the Browns out to safety, if they're ready to leave."
  2. Gretchen sniffed and sat up a bit straighter under the yuppies' scrutiny, then carefully picked up an anise cookie for examination; it smelled delicious. She slowly lowered the cookie halfway into her tea and held it there for several seconds, watching as the liquid seeped inside; then she lifted the cookie up, studied it for a few more seconds, and then closed her eyes and took a bite. The whole thing seemed more like a carefully controlled experiment, or some sort of East Asian ritual. The young barista let the mixture of flavors spread across her tongue and up into her sinuses. Sometimes it was good just to be. Grecth turned to the proprietor and inclined her head slightly. "Good cookie."
  3. -And once again, it's sexism for the win.- -True, but this does mean we'll have a chance to sneak around a bit if we play our cards right.- -That's...okay, that may actually be worth the casual male dismissal.- -See? Sometimes we get oppression to work for us!- Lynn turned to their guide with a warm smile. "/Thank you so much! I hate to keep the gentlemen waiting, but if you could see to it that we are both drawn a bath, I would be eternally grateful! Nothing washes away the weariness of travel like a good soak. It will give the men a chance to unwind and reminisce."// Then she paused to gently lay a hand on her arm. "/By the way, my name is Lynn; what's yours?"//
  4. Gretchen had better things to do; she had a store to run and customers to assist. But if her somewhat flighty girlfriend and the former goddess wanted to sit up on the roof and stare at the stupid eclipse 'til their eyes melted out of their skulls, they were welcome to do so. However, if there was any sort of kissing going on, and she wasn't invited? There would be hell to pay. - - - "It seems like something I should be able to do, y'know? I mean, I don't have to breathe anymore, I should be able to stare at the sun if I want to, am I right?" Two conjured deck chairs allowed Lynn Epstein and her semi-Divine house guest to chill on top of the Silberman's building; the changeling was wearing a blue and white striped sundress, sandals and pair of for real sunglasses under a floppy sunhat. She was sipping from a tall Arnold Palmer, which she occasionally refilled from a nearby pitcher. Periodically she shaded her eyes as she stole quick peeks at the astronomical event. "I mean, I probably could change my eyes a bit if I pushed it, but that just sounds too much like effort."
  5. "It's nice to meet you, Stan." It felt weird calling an adult by their first name; Casey's first instinct was to address him as 'Mr. Carson', but in the milliseconds before her greeting, several things occured to her: 1. They might not be married. 2. Even if they were, Terrifica was the kind of woman who might not take her husband's name. 3. There were several reasons why her given name might already be 'Carson'. The hesitation was so quick that no one present but her mentor would pick it up, which meant she probably did; oh well! Casey was nineteen years old, would turn twenty in six months; it was time she started to act like a grown-up, even though she was still technically a high school student. It was all so confusing! Time and maturity are invented concepts, said a great man probably somewhere. But her compilcated thought processes didn't show on her face; the world saw a pretty young woman met the love of her mentor's life, for surely Terrifica would never settle for less, and she was honored to meet him. "What do you do?" Her handshake had a strength and confidence uncommon in modern teenagers. When Dr. Carson introduced her children, the blonde powerhouse actually did go gooey inside as she put her hand over her heart. "Oh my gosh, they are so precious! What beautiful children you have!"
  6. How about Grim with canon? Mostly because I don't want to do another character build
  7. "Let me fly up and take a look," offered Casey as she took to the air; she would give the building a thorough sweep with all her senses, looking for any and all intel she could get. She really loved working as part of a team, something she hoped to do even more after graduation. Linked in on my end. Miss Grue, is it possible for me to send images over this link for everyone to see? That could speed things up a lot.
  8. Casey was trying to hit the pyrotechnic, not the psionic.
  9. Aww, man! I was interested in this, but I might be too late due to Gen Con shenanigans. Not sure which of my three (Grim, Shrike or MG) would work best, though.
  10. Have fun, Blarghy! I'm also on vacation, at Gen Con in Indianapolis. Might pop in here and there, but don't expect much posting before Sunday night.
  11. "Thanks," Miracle Girl called out cheerfully as El Huracán knocked her opponent into next Tuesday. She had no concept of possessiveness or 'killstealing' in combat; whatever took out the bad guys the fastest was the best option to her. Seeing as she no longer had a dance partner, Casey decided to have a go at the pyrotechnic, whose aim at long ranges was disturbingly accurate. Dropping down in front of her, the blonde powerhouse hoped at the very least to provide a tempting target; regardless of how this fight went, it would keep the flamethrower focused on her, not the President's plane. "Hi there; hope you don't mind getting your costume dirty!" And with that, Casey launched a powerful punch right at her target's face!
  12. "There's nothing to apologize for, senor," Lynn began diplomatically as she laid a hand on the president's arm. "To be honest, I don't think we've fully recovered from the long journey here, and the...excitement of our arrival; perhaps it's best if we were shown to our rooms and given a little time to rest and freshen up? Then I think the coffee and bourbon will do their work more effectively." Meanwhile, Gretchen could only look on at the woman she loved in mute admiration, shaking her head slightly in wonder. -How do you do that?- -Do what?- -Make talking to people look so easy.- -I dunno; I guess I get it from my dad? He's always been a charmer. That and literally decades of practice!- -This is true.-
  13. Sorry, I have trouble keeping up with the multi-PC combat threads; working on a post now. Edit: Unarmed strike vs Firelady: 1d20+10=14 Hmm; not sure if that hits, but if it does, that's a DC 25 Toughness save. Let me know, and I will post as soon as possible!
  14. When the presence of two 'normal' females was made, Casey tentatively poked her head inside their cell: who locks up their own family? This Fanatic really was a piece of work! "Hi there. I'm Miracle Girl, and this is Se Devil, Punchline, Agent Warne of AEGIS, and our distinguished guests you already know." She chuckled without much mirth. "Yeah, I guess we sort of are he cavalry. Mrs Brown, can you tell us where you're son is? It's vital we find him right away."
  15. You know what, I'm in. Threads are thin in space (just like breathable atmosphere!), so it would be foolish to turn down any offers.
  16. This is just a general interest thread. Casey Blankenship (aka Miracle Girl) with be entering the Journalism program at FCU, probably starting next month; I just wanted to get an idea if there are any other FCU students among our ranks. I've also considered the possibility of her joining a sorority (probably the same one her mom belonged to), which could be fun, horrific or both.
  17. Can Lynn or Gretchen figure out what's up with Sam via Sense Motive? I'll roll just in case! Lynn's roll: 1d20+5=18 Gretchen's roll: 1d20+10=28
  18. Casey can easily fly both Terrifica and her bike anywhere they need to go, if necessary.
  19. I'd like to volunteer Miracle Girl for the charity event; clean up after super-battles sounds like something she'd want to be a part of, and she's familiar with both Tristan and Leviathan. I think she'd also be interested in meeting Asad.
  20. I'd be fine with a GM 'reunion' post.

  22. Casey's Will save: 1d20+10=12 Oh boy! Can I blow that newly-minted HP to buy off the Controlled condition? If so, I'm doing it!
