-So I guess there goes our 'magic act' cover story!- -He doesn't want to lie to his friend. He probably would have slipped up and blown it anyway.- -True.- -Regretting your 'leg extensions'?- -A little. I can always ditch 'em when I lose the pumps, or slowly shave off an inch at a time over the next few days.- -Ick.- In response to Gallo's question, Gretch could merely shrug. "It's my first 'island paradise', so I don't really have a basis for comparison. Are they all this hot and sunny? Not really my optimal environment." "Gretchen isn't very outdoorsy by nature," offered Lynn by way of explanation. "But give her time, she may come 'round; actually, a few shots of espresso might do her a world of good." "That is actually true."

Before they left Otto's, Ditra decided she didn't want a councillor be seen in the company of these fine gentlemen, so she decided to return the favor and borrow Sindra's likeness for this operation. Besides she hadn't had a chance to give her new mimetic skinpack a proper workout. On the way to the Knot, 'Sindra' was very chatty, sharing various details about the Nameless community, but once they entered the shady district, she was all business. She pulled up her hood and kept her head down until they'd reached their destination. "I did a quick background check on the building; it's registered to a Pink designated Zander One-Oh-Nine. It's a tenement, mostly Pink, lots of units for mainly short stays." She sighed and shook her head. "Basically your 'one stop shop' for criminal activity."

Casey loves her country, too!

Caseys jaw dropped at Hyperactive's sudden disappearance. "Wait, hold up! Darn speedsters!" And with that, she too vanished in a rush of wind. Down the hall she flew, zipping down the stairs just in time to see the two guards raise their weapons and hear the distant muffled sound of gunfire. Oh jeez! The decision was made in an instant, her hands shooting out to grab one guard in each clenched fist and just slam the two of them together, knocking them out cold as their weapons clattered to the ground. The blonde heroine then gently lowered them to the ground, looking slightly embarrassed as she sheepishly called it in over the radio waves. "Uh...armed guards successfully incapacitated. Over."

Happy birthday, EP!

'The Once and Future Thing' is one of my all-time favorite JLU episodes; I'd love to do something set in an Old West setting, with pretty much any of my characters.

...and now Casey remembered why she stopped watching Dirk Saber movies when she started high school; ick. "Let's go rescue this 'filly'; if she's anything like she is in the movies, she should be able to take care of herself once we break her out." She began to scan again, but her face was troubled. "I was kind of hoping we'd have run into the Fanatic by now; I've got a bad feeling he's got some kind of 'deathtrap' waiting for us."
-
Is there anything to stop Casey from just slamming them together and knock them out? She had Takedown Attack, though she could give Diplomacy a shot, too.

Heritage replied to TheAbsurdist's topic in West End
Gretchen nodded as she took a seat and picked up the steaming mug of tea, letting the vapor flow up into her nostrils. "Smells real good." We'll continue this 'trust' experiment for a little longer. See how things play put. "So," she asked as she raised the mug to her lips. "How much do you know about this crazy stuff?" -
I think The Golden Age book is wonderful, probably my favorite 'splatbook' from second edition.

recruitment See the Universe join the Praetorian's
Heritage replied to Tiffany Korta's topic in Archives
I'm somewhat torn; as an elected official, Ditra Fifty-Five should be available to the people who elected her, but on the other hand, threads! Is there any sort of Praetorian Reserves? -
Gretchen's face went white as her arms dropped limply to her sides; she tried very hard not to recall the events of that horrible day. "Oh God." She turned to her lover and placed a hand on her arm. "If those things are coming through again, we have to stop them." For her part, Lynn was fairly convinced this really was her dear departed Ren, though part of her desperately clung to the idea that it was some trick, because that would be less painful. "What do we need to do?"

Casey just stood there and blinked for a few seconds "What the- ? Now that is just plain weird! Do you think it can switch back and forth at will?" She gingerly reached into the crate and pulled the egg back out and carefully placed it in front of her mentor for her examination. "Wow; this adds a whole new dimension to the classic 'chick or the egg' debate, huh?" ...yeah, it sounded a lot funnier in her head. No more 'yolks', Case; stick to bustin' heads!

Casey nodded, seemingly satisfied with the guard's answer, and she flashed him a hundred watt smile. "Thank you, sir; your help is greatly appreciated." Then she turned back to her mentor and sighed. "Do you think there's anything else we can get from here?" But then she did something rather interesting; she engaged her super-speed while standing still. She wasn't running around or even moving her hands, but there was a slight motion blur around her as she spoke at a speed no normal person would be able to process, manifesting as nothing more than a short burst of sound. But she knew her mentor Terrifica was far from normal. >>"I could be wrong, and maybe I've seen too many bad spy movies, but what are the chances this lab had something to do with the creations of these super-people? I'll bet you five dollars there's files on all of them in that sealed basement.">>

"Sounds like a plan to me," said Casey with a shrug. She has no problem taking orders or following plans from others; as a lifelong Girl Scout, she was very comfortable in hierarchies and perhaps a bit too eager to please adults and authority figures. However, she was by no means a blind follower; if her gut told her something wasn't right, she had no problem politely inquiring about what the heck was going on if things smelled fishy. The blonde heroine looked between Queenie, Hyperactive and Endeavor as she wrung a bit more water out of her hair "Shall we go?"

The hug and kiss left Lynn a bit gooey around the edges, and her face felt all warm. "I think we are good for a short stay...under this roof, under the covers. That is, yes, a guest!" Old Smooth Moves was having just a bit of trouble keeping it cool. "Dinner would be great! I have a very nice Chianti upstairs that we could put to good use." The changeling plopped back into her seat, the captain's chair of the USS Silberman's Books, where she felt a bit more under control; having a desk between them helped a bit, too. "It'll be great having you here, I'm sure."

Election Day It was early yet, and Ditra Fifty-Five wandered out into the Main Plaza feeling sick to her stomach; she'd just voted in the Republic Election, and part of her thought it wouldn't make a damn bit of difference who won. The green-skinned Nameless agent wandered over to a public bench and plopped down on it, still with her arms wrapped protectively around her belly. Like many of her more 'humanoid' behaviors, it was partly programed and partly legitimate, but it meant something a bit different when a Nameless did it. The lower abdomen is where a unit's pilot rested, safely coiled up inside an armored 'womb', so the gesture was really one of protection towards the bug that was the living core of cyborg. Ditra sat there for several minutes, watching the crowds line up outside the polling place. Street vendors began to set up their carts to serve the voters, and soon the smells of grilled meats and hot drinks wafted her way, and her pilot shifted and wriggled inside her, filled with pangs of hunger. I guess I did forget to have any breakfast before we left... And with that, she hopped up off the bench and strolled back across the street towards a Gandari noodle seller, his head wreathed in steam. "Good morning, young lady? What can I get for you?" "Good morning! I'll have a deep bowl of the ghat soup, with extra noodles, aaaaand a bottle of Triple-V." "Very good, miss! Coming right up!"

Can Ditra find out anything about the building or its owners through her Datalink?
