  1. "Oh, right, the fancy box he kept the crystals in!" Casey nodded vigorously and made ready to leave the room, but the stopped. "Oh, you might want to take a sample of that crystal on the wall; it looks like the little guy was making it somehow." The blonde heroine closed one eye and then fired a quick blast of her heat vision a few inches away from the crystal to mark it with a small scorch mark. "Right there." She then floated into the previous room, and then with a burst of speed stuffed the dino into one of the padded compartments of the case and snapped the lid shut. Looking around the room, she muttered to herself. "Great, we're taking evidence from a crime scene. Maybe I should leave a note: 'IOU one wooden box'." Finally she floated back to Terrifica, one eyebrow raised inquisitively. "Need a lift back out?"
  2. Kolo, I was waiting on you on this; were you waiting on me?
  3. That was basically it; if it had any internal organs and overall body temperature.
  4. Can MG analyze it all with her IR and X-Ray Vision?
  5. Lynn chuckled, but then her expression and tone grew more serious as she thought more deeply about the potential pitfalls of the arrangement. "Well first and foremost, respect what Gretch and I have together; the girl has some serious trust issues, because life took a major dump on her when she was young. If you are open and straight with her, she can be amazingly open-minded about stuff, and very forgiving and lovable. But lie to her, treat her with disrespect or take her for granted, and she will freeze you out like an arctic blast so fast that your head will spin. And then you have to start rebuilding that trust from scratch, using nothing but sticks and string while standing in a forty foot pit." She sighed as she thought back over her relationship with the intense young barista. "We've had our disagreements, but so far, we've always managed to work it out." And then she grinned like a little imp. "And the makeup sex has been, well..."
  6. I know superhero x-ray vision must work differently than medical x-rays, because Lois Lane doesn't have cancer, but I don't know what else to call it. 'Penetrating vision' just sounds awful!
  7. Miracle Girl got back on the horn as she was loading her next set of passengers into her dumpster, which involved a bit of flying, a bit of super-speed, and a whole lot of finesse. Despite her best efforts, she couldn't think of any good way to broadcast in the storm without yelling to be heard. "We might not have a lot of choice! Bad guy might have picked the toughest building on the island for his or her apparatus because they knew it was the only thing that could take the punishment! If we put them anywhere else, the storms just going to sweep them away! I know it sucks, but even with our combined powers, I don't think we can build anything stronger in these conditions! Over!" Once she had another load, the blonde heroine brought it back to the resort, only this time, she turned all her senses upon the structure, seeing if she could help locate any more dangers inside. "Scanning the resort with IR and X-ray vision! Over!"
  8. Gretchen nodded sagely. "Getting the parental units onboard is often a challenge." She pulled a pack of gum out of her pocket, slid a stick out, then offered the pack to Sarah. "The trick is to find an instrument that you can both agree on, and to play the long game." She popped the stick in her mouth and chewed it thoughtfully for a while. "If percussion's your thing, that's a hard sell. No sane parent wants a drum kit in their house." Then she pulled out her phone and did a quick Google search. "Have you considered timpani? The kettledrums?" She handed the phone to the young girl to show her the Wikipedia entry. "It's percussion, but because it's orchestral, it gets more respect. You get to really wail on those things. Gets the blood pumping, work out a lot of aggression." She shrugged. "Just a suggestion." Meanwhile, Whispers frowned and took back the wand she'd just made, tapped it on the palm of her hand a few times, and then blew on it like it was a microphone. Then she held it up to her eye and looked down its length, and then twisted it around a few times before straightening it out again. Finally she waved the wand around a few times before tapping herself on the head...which somehow caused a grinning frog mask to appear on her face! The mask covered her eyes entirely, which led to the wordless clown walking around in circles on wobbly legs as she waved her hands in front of herself, though Lynn's other senses were sharp enough that she suddenly veered away from any obstacles right before she walked right into them. (Yes, she had conjured the mask, but she'd done her best to fudge its sudden appearance by waving her free hand around a lot, to give the impression there might have been some misdirection involved.)
  9. Fire! And lots of it!
  10. Which makes sense, since it's small enough for her to cup both hands around it.
  11. Grapple check for Miracle Girl: 1d20+20=38 Gotcha, you little varmint!
  12. At the offer of anything free, Gretchen was on alert, visibly stiffening at the indication of kindness. But for once, she decided to risk it. People do nice things for each other all the time. You've seen it in books and on TV. Then she stopped to look down at herself, damp from head to toe, and smirked a bit. Plus you look really good wet, and pretty gets you freebies. Give it a shot. With considerable effort, she found a smile, which she offered to the man in lieu of payment. "Free tea sounds good. Thanks." And then she followed him in.
  13. If need be, I can add more info about the significance of the Third Hive in this or a future post, of the other PCs don't know much about them. EDIT: tweaked that first paragraph a bit.
  14. At length, the Diplo opened her eyes, and then turned to Starshot with a smile, inclining her head slightly. "Touché, Herr Starshot; actions, as always, speak louder than words." The green-skinned beauty leaned forward and steepled her fingers. "The Third Hive are...something like a family of criminals and terrorists; our 'black sheep'. Officially, they have no presence on CoVic Station; their queen is in hiding somewhere out in Lor space, and their designations go unlisted in the station's logs. However, they are very much here, and very powerful." She paused to take a sip of her drink before continuing. "There's a sector of town that's listed as being 'unsafe and under repairs', but it's actually a Third Hive neighborhood through and through; we call it 'the Knot'. She shrugged. "If that kind of deal is going down in Bugtown, that's where it would be." Then she looked at each of the three men in turn with very serious eyes. "Now, I can take you there, but it is not a safe place, not even for my kind; I could not guarantee your safety."
  15. Lynn continues to lay on the charm with a trowel
  16. At the sight of Gallo, Lynn put a hand to her chest and smiled warmly...warm enough to brown toast at ten paces. She switched to mellifluous Spanish as she extended her had to Sam's friend, palm side down in case he was old-fashioned. "/Mister President, my name is Lynn Epstein; it is such an honor to meet you! Our darling Samuel has told us so much about you that I feel like we're family!//" The changeling took in the palace with a sweep of her hand. "/Everything here is so beautiful; you must be so proud to have done so much for your country!//" Meanwhile Gretchen merely cleared her throat and held up a hand. "I'm Gretchen. I just change the fuses when they blow out."
  17. For a moment, Casey was conflicted; she was hoping to use her tenuous connection to the duplicator to perhaps earn her trust, but then Terrifiica asked her to join her at the other crime scene. Part of her wanted to assert herself and join the Blackstone group, but the part of her that had been raised to obey adults and authority figures was much too deeply rooted to be overcome. Besides, she really could be a big help to her mentor in finding clues. "Okay, I'll go with you, Terrifica." Miracle Girl could fly, but right now Casey wasn't feeling super up to it, so she asked to ride on the back of her mentor's cycle, which was actually kind of cool. It also gave her a little time alone with her thoughts as she closed her eyes and let the wind rush through her hair. Once they arrived at the lab, she hoped off the back of the bike and took to the air. "I'll start with a quick scan from up here."
  18. Let me know if I have to make any rolls.
  19. "Sea Devil is definitely a friend," said Miracle Girl as she indicated Aquaria with a wave of her hand. "Though she may appear strange to you, she is a friend of the Surface Dwellers, and she's here to help." And with that, the blonde heroine did just as Warne said she would, turning her eyes and ears to the world around them, straining all her senses for any signs of the other prisoners or the warrior's mighty club, or the Fanatic himself, if he was nearby. She shook her head for a second, recalling for a moment how silly all this seemed at first; but now that she'd met the captured barbarian, she felt a great deal of sympathy for him. How would the other two prisoners react to their strange new world?
  20. Much to her embarrassment, Casey actually squealed when the tiny creature leaped at her; it in no way actually hurt her, but the sudden darting action was not unlike a small mouse leaping at her, and well, she flew up into the air, stopping just short of hitting the ceiling. "Oh my goodness! I feel so silly!" Miracle Girl then got a very determined look on her face as she dropped to the ground and in an impossibly fast move snatched up the miniature lizard and cupped it in her hands, much like she used to do with fireflies as a kid. "We need to find something to put him in, like a metal box!"
  21. Grim wasn't doing anything super-sinisiter while concealed; just trying to explain my lack of posting creatively
  22. Without anyone really noticing it, Grimalkin had sort of...disappeared; it was amazing how hard she was to notice when she wasn't drawing attention to herself. The fact of the matter was, she was pretty crappy at anything having to do with tech, so she didn't have much to offer in this area, so she'd faded out of sight so as not to distract the big brains. She guessed one or two of her team still knew were she was, but that didn't bother her much But now that they were starting to discuss tactics, she suddenly reappeared at Terrifica's elbow. "I've always wanted to sneak into a dragon's lair!" She lost a full foot of height as her boots melted away to reveal a pair of hairy feet "As an expert burglar and investigator, I volunteer for any sneaky missions." She tucked a clay pipe in the corner of her mouth and looped her thumbs through her suspenders, neither of which were present a few seconds ago.
