  1. Knowledge: Earth Sciences (she actually has it!): 1d20+5=25 Wow, she maxed it! Search: 1d20+10=26
  2. "Oh, that's right; I keep forgetting we're big phonies." "Poseurs." "Imposters." Lynn grinned at this silly little exchange, and was there a hit of a smile from Gretchen as well? Somehow things got terribly awkward, as this was the sort of goodbye no one ever prepared you for, because it didn't really come up very often. "Well, I guess this is goodbye for now." "'See you on the other side, Ray.'" But then the young barista's face grew serious, and she had to look at her feet. "Seriously, thanks for coming to get me. I don't know anyone else who would do that for me." "Oh, no problem, y'know? Any time-" And then Gretchen grabbed her in a fierce and unexpected hug, which left the changeling speechless. Finally the young musician abruptly let her go, wiped her yes (were there tears?) and clomped into the elevator, never looking back. Lynn could only watch and shake her head in confusion. "She is the oddest girl..."
  3. The good doctor disappeared from the manor we're outside of right now, Tiff, unless you meant using Baby to fly to Blackstone afterwards.
  4. "Hello, Agent Thornton," said Casey with a firm nod. "Nice to work with you again. I agree about going to Blackstone. I think I had a...well, 'connection' is probably too strong a word, but I don't know, maybe a bit of rapport?...with one of the perps; we might be able to build on that." Then she turned to look between Miss Grue and the AEGIS agent. "I'm...not sure where the law stands on using telepathy to read a criminal's mind; I'm guessing it's frowned upon and not admissible in court, but if we're looking for clues on a related case and not planning to use what we find in that woman's mind against her? I'm tempted to give it a shot." Then she turned to her mentor. "Terrifica, something tells me there's a lot to be learned at FCI; do you want to head there right away, or join us at Blackstone?" She indicated the large manor with a nod. "Of course, a second or third set of eyes to look over the crime scene first isn't a bad idea, either, and that goes for anyone; who knows what we might have been missed?" And lastly, she nodded at the point Aquaria brought up. "Yeah, we can't rule out anything." The young heroine looked thoughtful as she began to count off possibilties. "Magic, teleportation, invisibility, illusions...super speed, dimensional travel, stopping time...shrinking...lots of things can be used to make someone disappear."
  5. Edited! When Casey goes shopping for shoes, she's looking at cleats!
  6. I forgot you said that we're all in costume; I assume this is due to powers? I can edit my post to reflect her surprise.
  7. "Good, that's everybody," said Casey as she cheerfully clasped her hands together. "Terrifica, this is Miss Grue, Sea Devil and Singularity, and everyone, this is Terrifica; she's like a genius super-detective." Introductions quickly made, she launched into a description of the case as she knew it. "Dr. Tristan Delacroix is a brilliant scientist who comes from a wealthy family, as you can see." She indicated the ostentatious home with a wave of her hand. "He disappeared this evening, from a room full of eyewitness who pretty much said he was there one second, and gone the next. There was a previous attempt to kidnap him last October, when two criminals with superpowers tried to abduct him from the opening of his Freedom-OCEAN facility; the attempt was thwarted by myself and Leviathan, and the criminals are now in Blackgate. However, some things they said made it sound like they weren't working alone, and that they might be trying to force him to reverse whatever process gave them their powers, which apparently have some nasty side effects. If he was taken, that seems the most likely reason, but obviously there could be others; he's rich, so he must be worth a lot, but there haven't been any ransom demands yet, so..." She shrugged. "So that's where we stand right now, I guess."
  8. "Wait, it's-" But it was too late; the mysterious indio was gone. Gretchen was left aroused, annoyed and flustered; on the one hand, she was sorry to see the flirty artist go, but on the other, she didn't feel the need to apologize for having a strong reaction to her memories of the shooting. She had nearly died, after all, and it was the incident that changed her life forever. Well, that and the earthquake in Sapporo. She finished the book order, and then paused for a few seconds before sending Shaul an email, from her personal email account.
  9. With as much dignity as she could manage, Casey flew her mentor up to one of the upper floor windows, which the mega-genius opened with little difficulty. Once the were inside, she cast her eyes over the place, drinking in a wide variety of information. When Terriifca gave the blonde powerhouse her instructions, she merely nodded and complied...in a matter of seconds; the real trick was slowing down enough to not slam each door as she made her way down the hallway. "Well, I agree, he was quite the collector," she offered, clearly impressed. "But I didn't see anything actually suspicious, and I searched pretty thoroughly."
  10. Any kind of Notice roll needed here, or do I just describe stuff?
  11. Casey had been window shopping at the Ashton Mall when the blue light captured her; one minute she was staring longingly at a pair of Nike cleats, and the next she was standing, in costume, on top of a building! Obviously something was seriously wrong, so she took to the air to see whether or not she was alone. Maybe there might be...aha, people! "Yeah, none of this stuff is real," said the attractive young blonde woman who landed next to them; she wore a red, white and blue costume and seemed to radiate a soft, golden glow. She pointed up at the sun. "That's fake, too; I think it's some kind of light bulb. Which means it's either really big, or we're actually really small." Then she smiled and waved. "I'm Miracle Girl, by the way; nice to meet you."
  12. Casey was in the school cafeteria, having a very hobbit-like second breakfast when her roomie called her up. "Hi Saku, what's...oh wow, that does sound bad! Give me a few seconds, I'll get ready!" In a blink of an eye, she ate everything on her plates, deposited her tray in a bus tub and was on her way back to her the room she shared with the girl genius. Seconds later, she was in her costume, over which she wore a navy blue sailing jacket and a climbing harness covered in d-clips. She'd also looped 60 meters of good climbing rope over one shoulder. She checked the first aid kit in her belt, making sure it was fully stocked, put fresh batteries in her headlamp and GPS receiver, and put her smartphone in a watertight case. And then there was, standing next to Endeavor. "You ready? I've been working on my flight speed recently; we should get there in no time."
  13. CAT GRANT'D by GIZMO Okay, spent 12PP on Casey, so lot's of new stuff added! Gonna break it down by section. Combat: added her +14 Heatvision to Attack rolls section; this was just missed bookkeeping, no PP spent. Skills: add 2PP for a total of 84 ranks; 7 ranks added to Diplomacy to get her up to 15 max, one rank added to Notice Feats: 5PP spent here, raising Equipment to 2 to pay for her camo suit, and adding Leadership and three ranks of Inspire. Powers: 5PP spent here, as well as finding a previously unspent power point! I'd indicated 89PP put into Powers in the previous version of her sheet, but only 88 were spent (took me a while to spot it; see spoiler below). So, total of 6PP spent on the following: 1. Super-Sense increased to 14 ranks, adding 3 ranks of Extended hearing and Ultra-Hearing 2. Adding one rank of Flight, boosting it to Flight 7 and Quickness AP to 14 (note that I had her speed calculated wrong before at 5,000x for Q12)
  14. 1d20+10=22, 26 w/ Attractive Well not amazing, but definitely better; only time will tell if it was worth it
  15. I think I'd like to use the HP, because I really liked that speech
  16. Okay, made several changes, all for the better, I think. I'm not sure exactly what the benefits of being a diplomat are in the Republic, but I assume they're enough to warrant paying for the Benefit
  17. It would be a stretch to say that Casey thought of Dr. Delacroix as a 'friend'; the brilliant but awkward scientist was little more than an acquaintance, really, but during her brief interactions with him, in both her personas, she'd come to respect him and his passion for science and the environment. And to be honest, part of her was worried that she might have endangered him by getting him to promise to help the two supercriminals she and Leviathan had stopped from kidnapping him last October. Hadn't they referred to someone else, perhaps another criminal with a mind for revenge? After quickly scanning the house and grounds for clues and chatting with the various members of law enforcement, the young heroine decided it was time to act fast; there had been no mention of any sort of ransom demands (and her gut didn't think there ever would be), and there was a previous attempt to grab him involving superpowers. Dad always says never be too proud or too stupid to call for back-up. Naturally her first thought was to call her best friend Sakurako, but she knew she was with her family in Emerald City right now, and time was of the essence. The next logical choice was Terrifica, because well duh! But what if more than one super-powered bad guy was involved? Casey knew Miss Grue was telepathic and amazingly versatile, plus dedicated and just a pleasure to work with, so she got the call. And what if it was some new menace? What if the doctor's work with Freedom-OCEAN had somehow drawn the ire of an undersea threat? Even if it wasn't, it certainly couldn't hurt to have some more muscle, so for these reasons and more, she reached out to Aquaria. When the three heroines arrived, they found Miracle Girl in her familar red, white and blue costume, standing well away from the ring of reporters and law enforcement; she knew several of her friends would prefer to avoid such attention. "Hi, thanks for coming so fast! Nice to meet you, Singularity; apparently you come highly recommended!" She peered around for a few seconds. "Technically we're waiting on a fifth...ah, she'll show up dramatically when she's good and ready; in fact, she's probably already lurking around here somewhere."
  18. "Okay, now that's a liitle scary," muttered Casey to herself when the 'voice of the forest' became angry; just how powerful was this guy? And then Riley made with the big boom, and the blonde powerhouse felt her ears pop all the way back here; who knew a single arrow could pack such a punch? In a flash, Casey ran forward to make sure none of the bad guys were seriously; yes, she worried about such things. She also wanted to be there when the mysterious vigilante showed himself, as she got the sense that an angry plant controller of some kind was about to make an appearance...
  19. "It would a whole lot nicer if there weren't so many machine guns around," Lynn whispered through her radiant smile as she opened the passenger side door and helped her girlfriend out of the limo. "Assault rifles," Gretchen reflexively corrected; the FPS veteran took these sorts of distinctions very seriously. "Whatever; let's just get inside." She smiled and thanked the soldiers in her perfect Spanish, while discretely dropping a single glamoured coffee bean inside the limo; it would provide a potential link back to the vehicle if they needed to teleport out of the Palace, and could be used as a bug if need be. "So, Sam, let's go meet your friend."
  20. Lynn eagerly dug out three bills, which she handed over to the young baker before snatching the loaf like a greedy child, only to clutch it, close her eyes and take a deep flashback-inducing whiff of that golden goodness. "Mmmmm; that's what Heaven smells like!" When Queenie arrived, it was a pleasant surprise; she hadn't seen the crime-fighting chef in some time. "Oh hi, Maybelle! It's Lynn Epstein, from Silberman's Books? We hung out together on a very memorable Christmas night a few years ago, in Puerto Rico!" She hoped that was enough of a memory jog to their shared past. "How goes the restaurant biz?"
  21. Lynn's eyes narrowed as the Empress continued to speak; so many things made horrible sense if you read between the lines. 'There aren't any heroes left in my world'? Of course there aren't; you'd have to take any of them out before they posed a possible threat. So now you need to import some when you encountered something not even your enormous brain can defeat; she must be so annoyed at having to ask for help! Grimalkin cleated her throat. "If they have a spoken language, I should be able to talk to them, given the fae 'gift of tongues'; if I provide no other help, I'm glad you brought me as a potential translator." And then Terrifica showed up, prompting the changeling to groan and slap her forehead. "Oh my God, there are two of them? I thought I recognized that tone of withering condescension!" She offered the Earth Prime heroine an apologetic wince. "No offense!"
  22. One quick note (still at work): Even though she is a Diplomatic model, I have a feeling she will be a bit more of an adventurer in actual play, perhaps in the same way that Wonder Woman is considered a diplomat. That being said, reducing her ranks of Mind Reading might not be a bad idea, or even reducing it to emotions? I'll have to think about that.
