Hope that's all cool, EP; let me know if I need to change anything.

Lynn Epstein was working in her office at Silberman's Books when all the books on the bookshelves suddenly changed, the wide variety of multicolored spines suddenly all becoming black and green. The changeling reflexively tried to shift her senses to any number of pieces of glamour she'd created throughout the store, but was horrified to discover she was effectively deaf and blind. Even more terrifying, she was unable to reach Gretchen, which meant she was well and truly alone. Alternate dimension; has to be. S###! Well, time to gather some intel, and- At that moment, someone opened the office door, forcing Lynn to shrink down to pixie size and dive under the desk; whoever it was paused for several seconds, probably due to sensing the sudden in-rush of air associated with the transformation, but those few precious moments gave the tiny heroine a chance to zip out the door and make a break for it. Once in a dark corner of the store, she could return to normal size but remain undetectable to most human senses, all the better to get her bearings. First up, it was called 'Imperial Bookstore', which had an ominous ring to it, all the books were printed by the Imperial Press (which was even worse), and the most prolific co-author was the Empress herself, 'Qiaolian Song', which was just...beyond creepy. Both the employees and the patrons looked healthy enough, but there was no idle chitchat or loitering; everyone moved like parts of a well-oiled machine. I need to get up high, get the lay of the land. Following a departing customer out into the street, the changeling then took to the air for a better view.

Now that she had an audience, Bubbles wasn't quite sure what to do with them; it wasn't in her nature to lead kids in singalongs or act out Itsy Bitsy Spider. She finished out her song, and then threw a worried glance her girlfriend's way. -I didn't come up with a set list. I assumed they weren't going to like me.- -Well it's you're fault for being so darn talented; now you have to figure it out on your own.- -But what kind of music do kids like?- -I dunno, the Hokey Pokey? I've been off-planet for years. You've met my nieces and nephews; what do they like?- Gretchen thought back to her encounters with Lynn's young relatives; for kids, most of them weren't too bad. Sometimes she actually even enjoyed talking to them. What YouTube videos did the watch? Then inspiration hit. "I think you'll know this one. If you do, feel free to song along or dance if you're so inclined." And then she started off a spirited cover of Taylor Swift's Shake It Off. For a few moments, Lynn looked somewhat concerned, but then she decided just to roll with it and motioned for her next customer to advance.

That is quite an impressive array of talent and powers; looking forward to this!

Lynn can understand any spoken language; what's the general jist of what the armed men are saying?

"Make sure you wear comfortable shoes," Gretch said without looking up from her book. Meanwhile, Lynn came out of office with a printed sheet from her computer; when she noticed Leon was still in the store, she smiled. "Oh great, you're still here." She looked down at a colorfully printed schedule grid as she approached him. "How does Tuesday and Thursday from 12:30 to 7:00, and then Sunday from 11:30 to 6:00 sound? That way you still get a two day weekend." Noticing the drink and pastry bag the young man was holding, the store owner grinned and looked over at Gretchen. "Aw, look at you; you did a nice thing!" "I am a warm and giving person," her assistant manager replied, still not looking up; was that just the ghost of a little smile on her face?

"I am going to make you...a mint hot chocolate...to go with our double fudge brownie." Gretchen began to steam a small pitcher of whole milk, then poured the mint flavored and chocolate syrups into a large paper cup. She topped it off with a large dollop of real whipped cream and mini chocolate chips, and carefully put on the lid. Lastly she used a pair of tongs to fish out a huge brownie and put it in small bag for him. "Here you go." She slid both items across the counter, then abruptly returned to to her reading, apparently bored of the interaction. The brownie and hot chocolate smelled simply delicious.

"I'll be fine," Lynn said as she waved him off. "Anything I make out of glamour is still linked to me, which has its ups and downs; good for spying and teleportation, but bad if it takes any damage." Meanwhile, Gretchen saw the Palace and began to head in that direction, swooping over the rooftops of the picturesque city. "I could be wrong," she said as she gave Sam a withering glance in the rear view mirror. "But I think 'El Presidente' left a few key points out of his letter." Peering out the window at the ground below, the snarky musician brought the improvised aircraft down for a perfect four point landing, and a visibly-impressed Lynn dismissed the shell with a wave of her hand, leaving the battered vehicle exposed on the pad. "Wow, that was amazing, Gretch; I had no idea you could do that!" Gretchen merely shrugged as she undid her seat belt. "Never did it before. But I played a lot of Microsoft Flight Simulator, so..."

I agree with everything that's been said here. I think the one thing AEGIS probably doesn't know about her is her time offworld, since it took place in another dimension. When I started that surveillance thread for Supercape, I went back over all her threads up until that point to find out all the things they might come up with due to research, interviewing witnesses and direct surveillance, assuming they didn't have permission to bug her up until that point. And realized that it was all suspicious as hell
-
Let's go with Grim, if that's cool with everyone.
-
The thread in question; it didn't go far, but I guess it's still canon? Not sure how bad bureaucracy is in AEGIS, or if the right hand knows what the left hand is doing.
-
Ha ha, not really! I came up a lot of backstory as part of her time away from Freedom (aka my three year absence from the site), and occasionally I'll drop a reference to something she did for fun. Time moved differently there, so she had 80+ years of adventure in a Solar System modeled after the Western/future posed in Firefly created by former site member Quotemyname as part of *his* PCs backstory, who was married to Grim. If you're interested, I can PM you links to a few threads where she discusses it?
-
Thanks, Blarghy! I write Gretchen as an INTJ and Lynn as an ENFP, which seems to work well.
-
Forgive me, but I went ahead and posted it; the place I'm at is about to close, and I couldn't risk losing it. If it's any problem, I can edit it or delete it as necessary.

When the blast hit, Lynn doubled over in pain as she felt the feedback through her link to the glamoured shell; she knew it was coming, but it still hurt like hell. "I can fly us," stated Gretch matter-of-factly as she began to climb forward into the passenger seat. "Uncover the driver and passenger side windows so we can navigate better." She strapped herself in with her seat belt, and then the ruby on her ring began to glow like an angry eye. And then the limo was airborne! It rose straight up into the sky, but Gretch did her best to keep it low, no more than two hundred feet in the air. Craning her neck to look out the various windows, she addressed the driver tersely. "Where is the Palace? Point it out to me, and give me a few visual landmarks. If anyone has a phone number to the Palace, give them a call so they know were coming in. Otherwise we'll be landing in a hot LZ." As an afterthought, the young barista twisted her ring, which shifted her clothes from 'fun and summery' to something closer to 'Angry Art Student Paintballer'; leather jacket and gloves, jeans, combat boots and a pair of wraparound goggles. For her part, Lynn made a few swirly gestures with her fingers, which dismissed the glamour in a few key places to give them better visibly; she was still in quite a bit of residual phantom pain, which took a few seconds to fade away.

Yep! Back in the day before my leave of absence, her only problem was she couldn't make metal very strong; it was Supercape who suggested adding the weakness, in part inspired by The Thing, and I tied it in with her now having a stronger link to her glamour, which i think is pretty darn cool I just charge in and started working on my next post; is that okay? I decided Lynn is still a bit stunned by the Feedback pain, which gives Gretchen a chance to shine!

I made her a Girl Scout on purpose, partly because that's kind of the classic nickname for Superman, but also because I think it suggests a core of moral fiber and selfless service. Casey might not be perfect, but she has a set of guidelines that she follows. That being said, on two occasions she's been convinced to go undercover to commit a crime for the right reason! Sadly both threads have petered out before we got to the actual B&E part, but I like the idea of her struggling between her training and thinking outside of the box to do the right thing. To me, Miracle Girl is my attempt to play a Lawful Good character, not a 'Lawful Stupid' one

For a second, I was like, "He's a font? Like one of those fancy Celtic ones, or...oohhhh!"
-
She would probably like to go seek out Tristan now, which as you said should be hilarious. And yes, she would definitely be up for a follow up thread, as would I!
-
I figured two things: 1. Her dad, a military man through and through as well as an AEGIS agent, stressed to her the importance making a good, accurate field report when the facts were still in your head. Luckily this interview is taking place right after the events, so everything is still fresh! 2. She could hang the cops out to dry, but she won't; it was basically a 'jurisdictional misunderstanding', and no one got hurt, and she might have to work with these cops again someday, so just let it go. EDIT: Just cross-posted with you!

Oh, is this based on your Glass, Darkly Version of Terrifca? Because I have to say, I was just rereading that the other day, and I was thinking, "I'd like to see Grimalkin take a crack at that bitch." Lynn helped fight for the liberation of Mars as part of her offworld backstory, using her skills for subterfuge and recon, as well as occasionally her terrifying flurry of claws. This sounds like a fight she could really get into, because Chaotic Good always likes to take a swing at Lawful Evil! Conversely, seeing Miracle Girl face down an evil version of her mentor could be cool as well.

Once we're done with Luck of the Fae, I'd be happy to see Leon, Lynn and maybe Gretchen meet up in their working personas!
-
Since it's a thing that Lynn can't make metal, I typically limit her Create Object-based conjuring to natural stuff like wood or stone, or treated natural things like leather, cloth or glass. She can make something close to plastic, but I imagine it's properties might be weird.
-
Okay, so yeah, I wrote it up that way
