  2. In order to make sure the Refs accurately count all your IC posts and award you the due amount of power points, please post with a list of all the threads in which your player character, NPC or sidekick posted IC this month (including the News forum). Also list any threads which you are GMing. GM posts count as double and can be assigned to whichever of your characters needs a 'push'. This topic will automatically close on the seventh day of the following month (i.e., May 7th, 2022 at Midnight EST). When you make your list, post a link to your first post for the month for each IC thread so we can jump right to it. When you start a thread, make sure IC is the first tag and topic prefix of the In Character thread, and OOC is in the first tag and topic prefix of the Out Of Character thread. It's not required, but additional tags including the major players and locations are viewed as a courtesy. Please list your threads in alphabetical order. Please clearly note any threads in which you are both player and GM/running an NPC. In threads where you are both player and GM/an NPC, please be sure to mark each post so we can tell who it should be allocated to. Please list your threads in a timely manner. Extending the deadline one week into the following month is already a grace period. If you've done any "extracurriculars" -- artwork, HellQ, 20 Questions, NPC, vignettes, guidebook pages, etc. -- please be sure to list them along with your active threads. For more information on ways to earn power points, see Character Advancement and Awards in the House Rules section of the Guide. Post counts should be formatted similar to the following: To make clear how many posts from rollover and GM posts are assigned to each character. Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in April showers of acid rain your post counts being postponed or skipped completely. If you missed the deadline, see this thread.
  3. Horrorshow "Non-sentient?," Davyd repeated, tilting his head slightly. "So you... you cannot learn anything new? Can only react, never act on your own initiative?" He slowly circled the hovering image, "you're a... a virtual assistant, with someone else's face and voice? Drawing on their memories the way a search engine scour the internet?" No no no this can't be it. They wouldn't reveal themselves so quickly if that was their plan. Would they? He looked to his companion, then to Kay, confusion and horror playing on his face. "Surely this is not what Rurland offers to organics, is it? Becoming digital ghosts, preserved but unchanging?"
  4. Artificer: Bruised, 1 HP Move Action: Move back away from Snap-Maw Standard Action: User Create Object to create a coral cage around the villain. He'll need to make a DC 19 Reflex save. Succeed, he's fine. Fail, and he's trapped in a Toughness 9 cage.
  5. Artificer The Atlantean's shields reflexively doubled up around his arm as Snap-Maw's maw snapped. While it wasn't enough to avoid all injury, it did save his arm from being bitten off! "That will leave a nice mark to remember this by," he said as he leaped back, trying to sound braver than he was really feeling, "but I think one is enough. Let us see," he placed his gauntlet'd hand on the office floor, "about coral-ing you!" The floor buckled and heaved in a line racing towards the man-shark, and erupted into a multicolored riot of stony growths, weaving a cage around the villain. "Corralling with coral," he muttered to himself, "yes, I think that is an appropriately 'snappy' retort."
  6. Toughness save, eh? 1d20+10: 13 [1d20=3] That... that fails by 12, which would put him at Staggered & Stunned Dazed. Let's use one of his 2 HP to re-roll that. 1d20+10: 13 [1d20=3] ... wow. Fortunately, HP re-roll adds 10 if the die result is 1-10, so that 3 becomes a 13, for a total of 23. Which fails by 2, so Artificer takes a Bruise. Artificer: Bruised, 1 HP

  8. Looks like Horrorshow will be going on... 1d20+3: 5 [1d20=2]
  9. Horrorshow "Yes, am... with... you," Hulk-Olivia responded, her voice considerably lower and rougher, and with an irritated edge to it. She looked down at her shredded pantsuit and longcoat and made an annoyed grunt. "Just got outfit, too." Glad I remembered to have these 'clothes' appear to shred, not expand along with me! Hulklivia looked up to where Overman had imploded, then back to Patriot. "Someone... did that to... him. Working with... others. Or... for others." Her speech was stilted, like someone who was just starting to learn -- or trying to remember -- a second language. "Others here? With... threatening...my people?"
  10. Horrorshow So if this studio's network is connected directly to Rurland's systems, Davyd thought, then Talos may well be able to see and hear everything inside. Putting aside what that means for Eira & me, that's an unprecedented level of access for a patron to have to an artist. How free are Rurland's artists to express themselves? Davyd considered how -- or even if -- to broach that particular subject, when Kay introduced them to Farah. "Oh, uh, hello!" He was initially startled, but quickly covered it with journalistic professionalism, "I'm sure I could thousands of people could think of a million questions to ask you, but let's start with a clarification. When you say you're 'a smart-system emulation of an organic mind,' what, precisely, do you mean? Are you another upload of a mind that was once in, or, uh, generated by an organic brain?"
  11. Horrorshow's not actually attacking Neko, it's all an elaborate ruse! And with his Skill Mastery, he gets a 29 on the Bluff check, so it's pretty believable!
  12. Horrorshow Oh, I know her!, Davyd thought upon seeing Neko, she was at the Espadas School. And I saw her again at the- oh! Oh, that could work! The slim Russian man started running towards Neko and Fiery Fury, but his run shifted to more of a loping gait as his body hulked out to a more brutish, gorilla-like form. "Mind if I join in?!," he bellowed as he leaped between them, then began raining down ham-sized fists upon the agile catgirl. "You think you can come into our Hausu, little girl? Think you've got what it takes to step into our Ring? You gotta be kaidan me!" More blows rained down, some coming within a hair's breadth of contact, but she remained untouched. "You thought this was gonna be a Battle Royale, but it's not -- for you, this is a Horrorshow!"
  13. Artificer "You can be mad with us later," Heroditus replied to Wilona, "and I am sure we can find some better targets for your flames. But right now, we need to go!" I was told Surfacers were prone to aggression, he thought, especially their adolescents. I had assumed it was just stereotypes, or propaganda, and I have met many who were... tolerable. But this one... A few unkind words ran through his mind. So of course when I am caught in some mystical effect that hurls me through both space and time -- a phenomenon I would give dearly to study -- not only is it with my most choleric classmate, it is to one of the most barbaric times in Surfacer history!

  17. Artificer "I very much doubt that," the Atlantean replied to the Man-Shark, "but you will regret your actions this evening!" With that, he pulled his gauntlet'd hand back and then pitched forward, flinging the grappled foe into one of his partners-in-crime, the buggy bandit. Yes! Excitement! Let's do more of that! The young Atlantean took a few steps back, then ran up Nightscale's back, leaping off his fellow Claremonter's head and soared through the broken window after Shooting Star.
  18. Artificer -- unharmed, 2 HP Standard Action: Throw grappled Shark-Man at Bug-Man. 1d20+13: 19 [1d20=6] I'm gonna stay with that. Assuming that hits, both Shark-Man and Bug-Man will have to make a DC 20 Toughness save (since Artificer's Move Object is only rank 5, 15+5 = 20 ). Move Action: Leap off of Nightscale's back and into the office with the baddies. He's got Leaping, so he can make a long jump of 12 ft., 24 ft. if Nightscale's big enough that he can get a running start.
  19. Horrorshow's Skill Mastery gives him a 24 on Notice and on Sense Motive.
  20. Horrorshow "Your 'master' sounds like someone I would be very interested in meeting," "Dr. Genadyevich" replied, "and I take it that assisting you in dealing with the," he turned his head towards the passageway to the arena, "local disturbances would expedite that. So, yes," he nodded, "I would be wiling to assist you in this matter." Crap crap crap crap crap okay think okay I'll go out and see who's out there, maybe I can get a message to them, get them to back off. But what if they're here looking for someone, someone who is -- despite what Miss Cobra says -- here against their will? The slim Russian man walked out to the arena and quickly looked around, reminding himself not to sprout any eyestalks for an increased arc of vision. Davyd first looked for his Uncle Sasha, then for the powered fighters he'd already seen (Chain Lightning, Tak, Fiery Fury, Gentleman) and who they were fighting.
  21. Artificer's using his Create Object -- Create Object 9 (”Alchemy/Transmuted Objects”; up to 9 5-ft. Cubes, Lifting STR 45; Extra: Duration [Continuous]; Flaw: Range [Touch]; PFs: Innate, Subtle, Variable Descriptor 2 [any matter]) {22/22} -- to make a half-bowl/dome shape to separate the cops from us.
  22. Artificer Ah, this proliferated rapidly. Heroditus hoped he was fast enough to act before either his teammates or the police started opening fire. His hands flew to his bandolier of pockets and drew two small golden rods, one topped with a sphere of alabaster and the other with a cube of black onyx. He uttered a few quick words of power as he joined the two together into one longer rod, then knelt down and touched it to the ground at his feet. Lines of blue light appeared along the rod, and the pavement buckled and warped, then rapidly swelled, like a rising tidal wave! In moments a semicircular wall of asphalt and concrete had formed around the two officers and their car, covering the front and sides but leaving the back open. "I suggest," he said, standing, "that we move on to less... populated area."
  23. Horroshow That's some bad flop sweat he's got there, "Olivia" thought at first, but quickly realized things were getting much, much worse. Contain the blast? No, not sure what type of blast it is, best to get him out of here. The body of the long-legged, blonde, vaguely Eastern European "Olivia" began to expand, too, though this was clearly muscle atop muscle, achieving in seconds what others would require years to achieve. Her skin, while expanding with her new musculature, was not quite keeping up, making each vein bulge and muscle pop into high definition, and took on a reddish-pink hue. Even the muscles in her face, at her jaw, swelled, giving her prominent "chipmunk cheeks." Yeouch! The weight of this new muscle seemed to do little to slow her down, though, as she quickly seized Overman with both hands, squatted down, and hurled him directly upward, where -- she prayed -- whatever was happening to him would happen in the middle of the night sky, rather than near any bystanders.
  24. "Olivia" is going to hulk-out, try to grab Overman & hurl him away, hoping to get him/his blast away from the area. Free Action: Set Shapeshift VP to Super-Strength 5 (effective Str 45, Hvy Load 12.8 tons), which will raise "Olivia"'s Grapple to +20. Standard Action: Melee attack roll to see if "Olivia" can grapple. That's a 19, which hopefully is enough to hit. Now the Grapple check... and that's a 33. (if one of those isn't enough, I'll use my 1 HP to re-roll.) Move Action: Assuming that succeeds, and since this is the same round as the initial grapple, "Olivia" can use a Move Action to throw Overman, straight up. If Overman weighs between 230-400 lbs., then "Olivia" can throw him (400 lbs. is a STR 15 hvy load, STR 45 is 30 points higher than that, 30/5 = 6, 6 steps up the Time & Value Progression Table is...) 500 feet! If you wanted to halve that for throwing straight up, I'd be cool with that.) So -- assuming the melee attack roll & grapple check are in my favor -- "Olivia" can hurl Overman 500 feet horizontally (to some conveniently empty lot near the Ashton Community Center), or 250 feet straight up into the night sky. And then "Olivia" will have some explaining to do...
  25. Horrorshow Upload them to where, Davyd thought in response to Kay's reply, and is anything done to their minds while their new body is worked on? "That sounds quite... efficient," he finally said. "Do any of them decide to remain as digital entities, and never download into a physical body? I can imagine some might prefer an existence free of all physical restraints, as a 'being of pure thought,' as it were." A slight twitch of his head was all the indication he gave of receiving PNG's message. Disappointing, but not unexpected. He did cough a bit, though, at Eira's statement. 'Industrial scale'... does she realize how ominous that sounds? He kept such thoughts to himself, though. He paused a moment at the open door, looking around the frame and studying the walls, before walking through into Kay's studio.
