  1. Round 2 29 -- Dynamo -- undamaged -- 4 HP (used one for doubling Dodge bonus) 28 -- Thrude -- Bruise 23 -- Grimalkin -- undamaged -- 7 HP 18 -- Colt -- undamaged, will be fatigued at start of next round -- 6 HP 18 -- ArchEvil -- bruised x2, staggered, stunned, unconscious; Toughness 10 (Imp 8) -- NPC 17 -- Jack of all Blades -- undamaged -- 8 HP 08 -- Jill O'Cure -- undamaged -- Sidekick + 1 HP (from recent fiat) 07 -- Fulcrum -- undamaged -- 3 HP Dynamo's up! When will Evil!Dok become Giant Tentacle Dok? Probably next round; give folks time to congratulate themselves on defeating the villain, and discuss what the heck's happened.
  2. The flashing blades of the Espadas did more than just rend several plates from the armor of Archeville, more than disrupt systems of both the suit and the monstrous pilot. As sparks flew from the flurry of gashes, the armor shimmered and shifted, turning from red-and-black to a disturbingly familiar blue-and-gold suit: that of the French hero Chevalier! Was this yet another of Archeville's lies? If so, what more was there? Those answers would come later, as Fulcrum's Terminus-charged punch landed square in his chest, knocking the villain flat on his back and out cold!

  4. In order to make sure the Refs accurately count all your IC posts and award you the due amount of power points, please post with a list of all the threads in which your character posted IC this month (including the News forum). Remember that we require that posts be a minimum of about 500 characters. You can see here what a 400, 500, and 600 character post looks like. Posts shorter than 500 characters will not be counted. Please also mark things from the Non-Canonical forum as being non-canonical, as those count 1/2 (2 posts made for your char in a non-canon thread count as 1 post for the char). And if you are GMing something, list those threads, too. GM-only posts -- as well as NPC Villain posts -- also count 1/2, and can be assigned to whichever of your characters needs a 'push' to get up in post numbers. When you make your list, please post a link to the IC threads -- preferably to the top of the page where your first post for that month appears -- so we (and the auto-count program) can jump right to it. When you post the link to your thread, the URL should look like this http://www.freedomplaybypost.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=4478&p=100643#p100643 or this http://www.freedomplaybypost.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=4478&start=10 or this http://www.freedomplaybypost.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=4478 NOT this http://www.freedomplaybypost.com/viewtopic.php?p=100643#p100643 The four digit number in the URL (bolded & underlined in the correct example) is the thread id number which we need to use the autocountamotron. When you start a thread, make sure [iC] is in the title/subject line of the IC thread, and [OOC] is in the title of the OOC thread. If you make a post in an IC thread as a GM or an NPC, add [GM] in the subject line of the thread. If you make a post and [iC] is not in the subject line, the AutoCounter will not count it. And if you do not put [GM] in the places you post as an NPC or Ref, it won't count those properly. Please list your threads in alphabetical order. Please clearly note any threads in which you are both player and GM/running an NPC. Also, when you start a new thread, please mark it on the Timeline (if you have a handle here, you have an account for the Wiki, and anyone with an account can edit it). You do not have to be specific on the date, but I would like to keep track of when things are happening relative to each other. The Timeline also serves as an index for everything we've done in the nearly three years this site's been active, and it's useful to know if X happens before or after Y. If you've done any extracurriculars -- artwork, HellQ, 20 Questions, NPC, Vignette, Wiki work, etc. -- please be sure to list them along with your active threads. Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in your post counts being postponed or skipped completely.

  8. No need for a second attack: Dok's at +11 Toughness, but sporting two Bruises, so that's a -2 to his Toughness save. Which means at most he gets is 29. Which fails a DC 40 by 11, which would be Staggered + Stunned, but he's already staggered, so Staggered + Staggered = Unconscious. Fulcrum KO's Evil!Dok! EDIT: We have a slight problem, as JoaB & Jill should've posted IC before Fulcrum did, not after. Darius, you jumped the gun! I think this will work best to salvage/make sense of things: Darius, please edit your last post so she's moving to attack Evil!Dok, but not yet landing her blow. Then add a post where she actually launches her attack, and KOs Evil!Dok. Shaen, per your post in Load-Bearing Bossesm go ahead and roll init for Thrude now. If Geck and Willow can get here with similar speed (Wilow can teleport!), they can roll, too.
  9. Master Plan check (1d20+7=25) +2 bonus for first 3 rounds, then a +1 bonus on round 4. In addition to using the map and assorted intel to assemble a far more detailed plan (including suggestions on who to send where), he'll also see what he can do to improve their armors & armor (which'd all be part of the Master Plan).
  10. Archeville looked on as his counterpart and her 'lieutenants' described the situation, stroking his chin and nodding here and there. "You have the good beginnings of a plan," he said at last, "but I believe I see several points where it can be refined. My first idea," he began repositioning markers on the map, "is to keep Deadshot back here, where he can oversee the courtyards as Brute and Hellfire charge through, and pick off attackers as needed. I would join Blade and No-Hand in attacking the command structure," he added two new flags he had hastily constructed, "and if Fulcrum attacks from here with a small force, to meet up with Brute and Hellfire at this point, that should overwhelm the Castle defenders." He offered many other ideas, ways to attack that would take advantage of the terrain and changing guard shifts, and weak points he knew of in his Schloss which he'd hoped were in this Schloss, including the offshoot of the Danube river which ran under a series of catacombs under the castle, and which could serve as an excellent entry point for some of them.
  11. "I have a few hypotheses on that," he exclaimed, the familiar twinkle of Science! lighting in his eyes. "First is that yours is different because you were infused not by the random seepages of the Terminus, but by the energies of Omega himself. The energies had to be more concentrated within him, and so likely at a tighter wavelength. Additionally," he nodded towards the statue they stood (well, floated) before, "there is Centurion's presence to consider. He had been exposed to countless types of inter- and extradimensional energies, and some of those surely would have altered the Terminus energies which flowed into you, and thus the energies your body now generates." "Of course, there is still so much unknown about the so-called 'Children of the Terminus' that it is possible," he gave an exaggerated shrug, "each and every one of them operates on a subtly different frequency!"
  12. "I proposed just two weeks ago," Archeville replied, still grinning, "and neither of us have made any sort of official announcement on it... though I am sure it is only a matter of time before some intrepid journalist or paparazzi notices the ring on her finger!" "As for the team," he fished around in his pockets, at last pulling forth a pen and small business card, "ah, good, I do still have some of these." He hastily scribbled something on the back, "meet at this address on, oh, say, June seventeenth, after your classes and other college work is done, and someone will meet you there to discuss the team." He passed the card along, then shook the young man's hand, "and now, unfortunately, I must be on my way; there is always something calling upon my time. I wish you the best of luck!" In a flash of blue-gray light and warped spacetime, Archeville was gone.
  13. Evil!Dok can't beat JoaB's Bluff/Feint (best he can get is 30), so that succeeds, so his Defense is 14. Fort save, DC 22, vs. JoaB's Corrosion/Drain Toughness (1d20+11=19) Fails by 3, so loses 3 points of Toughness, so he's at +13 (Imp 11) now (and 1 Bruise) Toughness save, DC 30; includes -1 from existing Bruise (1d20+12=28) Fails by 2, so 1 more Bruise. Flurry would hits by 7 points even if he wasn't flat-footed, which is as much as the Autofire can add. Toughness save, DC 37; includes -2 from existing Bruises (1d20+11=14) fails by 23! Fiat to re-roll; JoaB gets an HP Toughness save, DC 37; includes -2 from existing Bruises; Fiat re-roll (1d20+11=27) fails by 10, so Staggered + Stunned Opposed Bluff check vs. Jill's Taunt (DC 25) (1d20+10=26) Her taunt rolls off like water from a duck's back! Though he's still stunned from JoaB's flurry. Reflex save, DC 22 (1d20+6=11) Any damage will KO the Staggered Evil!Dok, so I'mma Fiat to re-roll the Reflex save. Jill gets an HP. Reflex save, DC 22; Fiat re-roll (1d20+6=24) Makes it Which reduces the Damage to 6, which his Impervious blocks. However, the three hits he's taken this go reduce his Impervious from 11 to 8. 29 -- Dynamo -- undamaged -- 5 HP 23 -- Grimalkin -- undamaged -- 7 HP (includes the 2 Grim got from recent fiats) 18 -- Colt -- undamaged, will be fatigued at start of next round -- 6 HP 18 -- ArchEvil -- bruised x2, staggered, stunned; Toughness 11 (Imp 8) -- NPC 17 -- Jack of all Blades -- undamaged -- 8 HP (includes 1 from recent fiat) 08 -- Jill O'Cure -- undamaged -- Sidekick + 1 HP (from recent fiat) 07 -- Fulcrum -- undamaged -- 3 HP Fulcrum's up! (Still need those toughness saves for Colt, Dynamo and Grim!)
  14. Archeville was about to answer Jubatus when Crow cut him off. "Well, look at the bright side, Mr. Xavier!," the Doktor exclaimed, big smile on his face. "You had been concerned about reverting into some sort of feral man-eater, but we have discovered that you are more likely to regress to a playful, infantile state! That... well, that is not as bad! Plus, you discovered some new aspects of your speedster abilities, which, with practice, I am sure you can consciously tap into again!"
  15. Archeville nodded in thanks at the offer to retrieve Mona's belongings. "I am very glad to hear that, and I am sure she will be as well. And, ah," he leaned in closer to his counterpart, "my Science and Technology have been quite helpful with that, too." He winked, and leaned back. He smiled at her next words. "I should --where we come from, it is the Archeville ancestral home! Well, sort of -- started as a small keep awarded to an ancestor, several hundred years ago, as a reward for military services rendered. It was untouched for centuries, until I inherited it, and expanded it into a proper castle, which I dedicated to the development and teaching of science and technology to all!"
  16. The man they had once called friend snorted derisively as Dynamo and Grim pummeled him, to seemingly no effect. Colt's rapid fire seemed to do better, making him double over and stagger back - but he quickly recovered, standing tall and silently taunting him! "Dolts!," he sneered, "this insolence shall not go unpunished, from you or my spineless counterpart!" "I know everything there is to know about you! Your vulnerabilities!," the gauntlets shifted and shimmered into a spiked variety, and were now coated in black iron, which he used to swat the pixie-sized Grimalkin, then grabbed the tiny faerie like a ragdoll! "Your weaknesses!," he pulled aback and tossed Grim at Colt, colliding the recently married couple into each other! "Your reaction times!," in a flash the jets along his back and boots carried him to Dynamo, and his spiked iron fist into the speedster's face! "You cannot hope to defeat me, so why do you oppose me? All I wish is to prune the weeds so the orchids may flourish!"
  17. Right, I'm not letting quote's weekend of drunken revelry delay us. Now Evil!Dok's up, for first, some bookkeeping I neglected earlier. 29 -- Dynamo -- undamaged -- 5 HP (1 + Luck 3 + 1 for earlier fiating/mind whammy) 23 -- Grimalkin -- undamaged -- 5 HP (1 + Luck 3 + 1 for earlier fiating/mind whammy) 18 -- Colt -- undamaged, will be fatigued at start of next round -- 6 HP (1 + Luck 5 + 1 for earlier fiating/mind whammy - 1 for Aim) 18 -- ArchEvil -- bruised, stunned; Impervious 11 -- NPC 17 -- Jack of all Blades -- undamaged -- 7 HP (1 + Luck 5 + 1 for earlier fiating/mind whammy) 08 -- Jill O'Cure -- undamaged -- Sidekick 07 -- Fulcrum -- undamaged -- 3 HP (1 + 1 for earlier fiating/mind whammy + 1 for being betrayed by her fiance) Reaction: Fiat for Recover (clear stun). HP goes to the person he's attacking... which would be Grimalkin. Reaction: Fiat for Heroic (er, Villainous) Feat, gaining Improved Grab. Grimalkin gets yet another HP. Free Action: Maintain Impervious Toughness/Shield Free Action: Convert Weapons Array to Enhanced Str/Super-Str, variable descriptor to "iron-shod spiked fists" Standard Action: pummel the pixie Attack vs. Grimalkin (Defense 27 in Faerie Form); +50% to damage due to vulnerability = DC (15 + [12 x 1.5]) 33 Toughness save (1d20+15=28) Reaction: Grapple Grimalkin Melee attack vs. Pixie!Grim (Defense 27, 12 if she's stunned) (1d20+15=30) Grapple check (1d20+34=45) Per our House Rules, if his grapple check beats hers by 5+, she is bound & helpless. Free Action: Extra Effort to surge and gain another standard action. Move Action: Toss Grimalkin into Colt! Throwing Grim into Colt (Defense 25) (1d20+9=25) Both Grim and Colt must make a DC 27 Toughness save (same as his unarmed Str) Standard Action: Charge Dynamo Charging Dynamo (Defense 24); +2 Attack/-2 Defense from Charge; DC 27 Toughness if it hits (1d20+17=32) End results Grimalkin +2 HP Toughness saves: 2 from Grim (DC 33, 27), 1 from Colt (DC 27), 1 from Dynamo (DC 27) Evil!Dok will be fatigued at the start of the next round Jack & Jill are up
  18. ArchEvil's defense is 22, so that hits by 12, which will add +10 ranks of Damage, so that's a DC 40 Toughness save. Toughness save, DC 40 (1d20+16=30) fails by 10, which'd put him at staggered and stunned. Do I want him to be that damaged this early (since staggered + any further damage = unconscious)? No -- I'd like everyone to get at least a chance to lay one lick in. GM Fiat for improved roll; Colt gets an HP. Toughness save, DC 40; Fiat re-roll (1d20+16=23) +10 = 33 = fails by 7, so only stunned + bruised. It also reduces his Impervious, to 11. What descriptor is Colt using for his Blast? And will he be doing knockback? (I believe extra damage from Autofire does not count towards Knockback, though extra damage from Power Attack does.) EDIT: Kenson & Shaen both say extra damage from autofire and power attack (and crits) don't count for knockback, so only his base Blast of 10 counts. Which is not enough to get past Evil!Dok's Knockback of -15 (adjusted to -12 due to the loss of some of his ablative Impervious.)
  19. On October 24th, 2007, the Freedom City Play-by-Post board was opened. About three and a half months later, on February 8th, 2008, I joined the site. Six weeks later (March 20, 2008), I was elevated to the Refdom, and about nine weeks after that (July 29th, 2008), following a shocking [redacted] and the brutal [redacted] of the previous administration, ownership & Admin-ship of the site was transferred to me. (Muah hah hah hah hah!) Some Numbers Number of Posts: 121,444 Number of Topics/Threads: 5,335 Number of Users (who've made at least 1 post): 255 Current Active Characters: 71 Number of Refs: 5 Average Posts per Day: 88.41 Average Topics/Threads per Day: 3.88 Oldest Active Member: heritage (joined 1/2/2008) Newest Active Member: Broseidon (joined 7/10/2011) Top Active Posters 01 Dr Archeville 11,667 02 AvengerAssembled 8,074 03 quotemyname 7,619 04 Electra 5,977 05 Gizmo 3,988 06 ShaenTheBrain 3,974 07 Geez3r 3,921 08 Heritage 3,563 09 Ecalsneerg 3,444 10 Cyroa 3,371 I would like to think that, on balance, FC PbP has been a fun place for all involved. I fully intend to continue keeping this site chugging along for the foreseeable future; we've told a lot of good stories, and there are still many more left to tell. I must give special thanks to AvengerAssembled for running so many amazing stories, to ShaenTheBrian for keeping the character bank & character edits clean, and to Sorus for keeping the place running! Thanks also go to Supercape and trollthumper, for all the entertaining and exciting stories they've run, and to Electra and Gizmo, for helping new players with the background/fluff parts of their characters. I have no grand changes in mind for the site, except in trying to keep a better eye on things, and making sure characters and adventures fit the overall mood/theme/tone of the board (DCAU-esque -- Relevant, not Cynical [or Homophobic/Misogynistic/Racist], and overall Enjoyable). Some things have slipped through that ought not have, and the Refs are going to try and be better about that. We do still have plans for several Big Adventures, which we're still working on figuring out how to implement; we are still learning how (and how not) to best do these. Thanks for being such great players, and making this such a fun place to run :D
  20. Hits, but damage is too low to overcome his Impervious (though it does reduce it to Impervious 12). Colt's up!
  21. "Well...," he began, a playful smile on his lips and a mischievous glance in his eyes, "I am that good. But!," he held up his hands defensively, as if doing so could stop her should she choose to swat at him, "you are wearing some of my tech, which I take some pains to monitor, so there was a... cheat. And then there is your Interceptors' communicator, the frequency of which I am very familiar." His face darkened a bit, "there... there is something else, too. The levels of Terminus energy your body has been emitting -- the same energy that robot tracked to find you -- has, well, steadily increased over the past several months. The dampers I made for you have been able to compensate, but eventually I am going to have to replace them with something stronger. Though, ah," a grin returned, weakly, "I should be able to make them so they remain as eyecatching as ever."
  22. "I will tell you, Victory," the Doktor whispered back, "but I would prefer it if this did not show on any recordings." "So," he began as he pulled away from the AEGIS cyborg, "this is my little secret home-away-from home, Nichtuberall, which would translate as 'Not Anywhere.' It is inside one of the asteroids in the belt between Mars and Jupiter, is completely self-contained, and until now, I was the only person on Earth who knew of its existence. This 'hangar' -- more properly a theoretical laboratory with holographic modeling capabilities -- is approximately half the entire facility. The rest is quarters, a well-stocked library, and an automated kitchen, which you are all free to use while Blueshift and I work." "I would prefer, of course," he said as he flew up to the plane and began removing panels, "that you four keep this place a secret. I am a very public figure, and this is about the only place I have where I can get away for a few moments of privacy." A mere four hours later, Blueshift and Doktor Archeville's superhuman technical skills had completed the repairs to the Pegasus spaceplane, and soon (after the Doktor used his Gravimetric Belt to teleport them all out) they were on their way back to Earth. ~fin~
  23. In your Plant Array, the Communicate -- do you mean Communicate (can talk over long distances) or Comprehend (can understand other languages)? I'm guessing the latter, due to the cost of 2pp/rank. Also, while you don't have to spend all the pps in an Array slot, using only 4 pp in a 24pp slot does seem a tad wasteful. Perhaps some ESP (to 'see' through plants, like what Fleur de Joie has)?
  24. Math! Truly repairing (rather than jury-rigging) the Pegasus would be a DC 30 check taking 60 hours. (I'm going with "Advanced" tech, since we are dealing with an FTL drive!) Using Ultimate Effort to "take 20" on Craft (electronic or mechanical) checks, Blueshift gets a 40, Dok (with Screwdriver/HQ's tools & scanners, but without Enhanced Int) gets 47. If Blue's aiding Dok, she can add +5 (+2 for DC 10, +1 more for every 10 full points she made the check by), for 52 total. Which is enough to apply a -20 penalty to do the task in 1/16th the normal time (1/2 per -5), or 3 hours 45 minutes.
