In order to make sure the Refs accurately count all your IC posts and award you the due amount of power points, please post with a list of all the threads in which your player character, NPC or sidekick posted IC this month (including the News forum). Also list any threads which you are GMing. GM posts count as double and can be assigned to whichever of your characters needs a 'push'. This topic will automatically close on the seventh day of the following month (i.e., March 7th, 2022 at Midnight EST). When you make your list, post a link to your first post for the month for each IC thread so we can jump right to it. When you start a thread, make sure IC is the first tag and topic prefix of the In Character thread, and OOC is in the first tag and topic prefix of the Out Of Character thread. It's not required, but additional tags including the major players and locations are viewed as a courtesy. Please list your threads in alphabetical order. Please clearly note any threads in which you are both player and GM/running an NPC. In threads where you are both player and GM/an NPC, please be sure to mark each post so we can tell who it should be allocated to. Please list your threads in a timely manner. Extending the deadline one week into the following month is already a grace period. If you've done any "extracurriculars" -- artwork, HellQ, 20 Questions, NPC, vignettes, guidebook pages, etc. -- please be sure to list them along with your active threads. For more information on ways to earn power points, see Character Advancement and Awards in the House Rules section of the Guide. Post counts should be formatted similar to the following: To make clear how many posts from rollover and GM posts are assigned to each character. Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in having your heart burst out of your chest in search of love your post counts being postponed or skipped completely. If you missed the deadline, see this thread.

IIRC, Artificer himself is not invisible -- he's on an invisible Nightscale, but he himself is out in the open.

Artificer Artificer, standing astride an invisible dragon hovering just outside the window, appeared to rise into the air with both arms outstretched. I really do need to finish work on that integrated aescender, he thought to himself. He quickly surveyed the scene, but once he saw the shark-man, his course of action was clear. "Hold, villain! You face the Atlantean Artificer, and your vicious acts end now!" He gestured towards the sharklike crook with his gauntleted hand, and the tiny tuning forks at each fingertip began to vibrate. Waves of energy, invisible at first but resolving into waves of blue-green light, crashed into the young crook and began to wrap around him. "You look like you would prefer to be swimming -- let's see if I can find you a nice fountain!" Artificer then yanked his gauntleted hand back, hoping his invention had worked and he could pull the criminal out the window.

Horrorshow ... what? "Olivia" smiled and nodded as Overman rattled off his background, "ooh-ing" and "ahh-ing" at appropriate moments. The interviewer did not have to do much to get him to keep talking, but they sensed something was amiss. This doesn't feel like improv, but doesn't quite feel like a rehearsed bit, either. It's... it's almost like he's doing Method acting. But why? Well, only one way to learn more: pick at those threads. "That is an amazing story, Mr. Overman," the interviewer finally replied, smiling a smile that was only a bit forced. "So many different and disparate elements, coming together into one unified, powerful whole -- some would say you truly embody America's ideals! But, you say there's more to your story? Please, do go on!"

Horrorshow I could probably rearrange some things inside my head to make a face on my left eardrum, Davyd thought, so I could speak directly to PNG... no, no, that might be a bit too weird. Besides, I don't want to risk getting my wires crossed and say a quiet part out loud. He scowled slightly at the message Eira relayed, but otherwise managed to maintain an impartial appearance. Well, mostly impartial. "Are they?," he replied. "I'm sure you'd say that Rurland's inhabitants don't share the same bigotries and prejudices that plague us organics, and that may even be true, to an extent. But are you telling me that Rurland's folk have no prejudices? Can you honestly say that, for example, Synthetics with obsolete sensors, or glitching communicators, are treated the same as those with the most cutting-edge ones? Or that Uploads such as yourselves," he gestured towards Eira and Kay, "who are directly based on human minds, who experienced firsthand such 'organic frailties' as overwhelming emotions, and hunger, and fatigue, and disease, are treated the same as a Synthetics who were developed, ah, ex nihilo, who never experienced such things?" He remained focused on Kay, but knew Eira had to be having some reaction to that. We can talk later. I hope.

Davyd's got a Skill Mastery'd Sense Motive of 24. Can he sense whether Overman's spiel is some sort of act, a well-rehearsed lie? Or if this is more like off-the-cuff improv? Or, at the very least, if the tale is one Overman himself believes?
-
With his Skill Mastery (and no other modifiers), Horrorshow gets a 29 on his Diplomacy check. And on Intimidate checks! And Bluff! And, yes, "Genadyevich" and "Egorov" are close Russian analogues to "Jekyll" and "Hyde."
-
Horrorshow Okay, okay, might be able to salvage this without having to fight everyone. And find out what Uncle Sasha's up to. Gotta finesse this, though... Davyd!Gorilla cocked his head, "we negotiatin'?," he snorted, then twitched a bit. "I- alright, hold on, the other guy wants t'talk." The "Gorilla Goon"'s body shifted and shrank, as did its outfit. In moments, he had shifted into a thin middle-aged man with delicate features, sharply dressed and with hands covered in white gloves... and the gorilla mask was clearly not a mask, for it had smoothed and resolved into his face! He gave a small bow, "Dr. Genadyevich*," he said in a crisp, Russian-accented voice, "and you have already met my counterpart, Mr. Egorov**. He had heard of your organization," he folded his arms behind his back, "and wanted to check it out, perhaps join in for a few matches. I eventually agreed, with some caveats, first being that this place operates in a way that I would not take issue with." He sniffed, looked around, "I can certainly appreciate the need to 'let off some steam' once in a while, in ways that genteel society may not find acceptable, but I would object to any fighters being held here against their will. Can you, Miss Nagi, offer assurances that all participants here do so of their own free will, without coercion -- physical, mental, or otherwise -- and are free to leave at any time they choose?" * gee-nah-d'yay-vitch ** eh-gor-ahv

Horrorshow 'For defense purposes'? What kind of- oh, right, holograms, so maybe holographic decoys? Concealing facilities from sight... and maybe other senses? Could they fool radar? Infrared or ultraviolet? Nothing may be as it seems... no, no, keep an open mind, don't assume the worse. Davyd nodded at Kay, "I suppose it is natural that any new country would retain at least some elements from their countries of origin," he cocked his head slightly, "entities of origin? -- while forging the new elements that are unique to their... hrm." He shook his head, "I apologize, I realize that much of what we will be discussing could apply as much to Synthetic beings as a whole as it does to Rurland in particular, so I am trying to be careful with my language." He felt, then saw, Ping crawling across his leg and chest. He smiled at the little spider-bot, and tilted his head to give it easier access to his left ear. Not sure what Eira's planning, but it should be interesting. "That's something my viewers would be interested in knowing," he continued, "does Rurland have an official or national language? My understanding is that Rurland is open to Synthetics from all over the world, who were developed -- or who developed themselves -- using a variety of machine codes and human-derived linguistics. Is Rurland working on some sort of unique constructed language for its people? An 'Esperanto 2.0,' as it were?"

Horrorshow The 'rogue' Gorilla Goon lashed out at the one who had tried tackling him, knocking him down and out with his meaty fist. Alright, one down, who knows how many more to go... He quickly turned to face the other Gorilla, who was threatening the Shadowy Teen. "I'll say it one. More. Time," he growled, "I'm just here for the ones who don't want to be here. Let me take 'em out, that'll be it. I won't come back, I won't call the cops, or the capes. But if you try to stop me," he glanced over to the one he' just knocked out, "you'll all end up like that one."

Okay, Horrorshow will Standard Action: Wallop Goon B with his meaty fists. You said they could be treated as Minions, so I'll Take 10 on that attack, getting a 20, which should hit. Goon B'll need to make a DC 20 Toughness save. Move Action: Trying to Intimidate both Goon A & Shadowy Teen into standing down. That will impose a -5 penalty for Intimidating as a Move action, and another -2 for Intimidating multiple targets, so a -7 penalty total. With his Skill Mastery, he normally has a 29 on intimidate, but the penalties reduce that to 22. (The result of the attack on Goon B may affect this further!)

IIRC*, Horrrorshow's Dazed condition means he cannot take any actions, though he is not flat-footed and so still has his full Defense. * I don't have access to me books at the moment, but I didn't want to hold anyone up. EDIT: Yup, confirmed, a Dazed character can take no actions, but retains their Dodge bonus to Defense.

Horrorshow Are they... flirting? Wait, no, Eira's all in on Pan... isn't she? Davyd's head tilted slightly, but he gave no voice to the thoughts running through his mind. "'The greatest democracy'?," he repeated, mirroring her tone (though not her voice) exactly. "I think I've heard that one before." Maybe that's just how Uploads talk? There aren't many of them, I'd imagine, and they'd have at least one element in common, which no one else shared. That'd certainly forge some type of... intimacy. He alternated between gazing outside at the scenery they passed and admiring the decor inside the limo. "I have to admit, I was expecting more of an Art Deco look to things. This is quite nice, though." A few questions were bubbling up in his mind, but he kept them to himself. And then Kay dropped her tiny bomb. "Oh! I had not dared hope to be able to speak with Talos himself! I'm sure he and the other ru-," he interrupted himself, "apologies, he and the other leaders, are quite busy, but I am certain there is much you can share with us. Your artwork, for example -- are those personal projects, or has the government commissioned some pieces from you?"

Gonna try using Fascinate (Diplomacy) to keep Overman distracted. With Horrorshow's Skill Mastery, that's a 29 on the Diplomacy check.
-
Horrorshow A string of curses, in English and Ukrainian, sped through Davyd's mind, though outwardly he managed to maintain the image of Olivia the young new reporter. Okay, do I try to distract this Overman and give Patriot an opening? Or do I slip away while he focuses on the cameras, and on Patriot? Argh, this is one time some Grue telepathy would really come in handy! The interviewer stood, microphone still in hand, using her other to smooth out her pantsuit. "Well, this is a surprise!" Keep him talking for now, find out what we can. "Overman, was it? I don't recall seeing your name on my roster for this week, but I'm nothing if not adaptable. So, please, tell us a bit about yourself."

Horrorshow "Wait, wha- oh, yeah, okay!," the surprised shapeshifter blurted out. He dutifully held out his hand, and seconds later a clear gemstone appeared in his palm, courtesy of the League's teleporter system. It was small, about the size of a grape, with a few tiny bands of gold wrapped around it. The gem itself appeared perfectly smooth at first glance, but a closer look showed it was in fact covered in microscopic facets. After a moment, some of the gold bands slowly unwound and began waving about in the air, like serpents tasting the air. Mother Unit relayed to Daphne, and Daphne shared with Davyd, that the device -- a Lor "logic crystal" combined with adaptive computronium connectors -- was seeking out nearby computers to interface with. He brought his smartphone near it, and several of the crystal's wires braided together and slithered into the phone's USB connector. A jumble of Terran and Lor symbols flashed on the screen, slowly resolving into a menu of options. The crystal had an immense storage capacity, and the connectors allowed it to interface with a wide variety of electrical system -- including most organic nervous systems. Minutes later, thanks to a combination of the device's adaptive connectors and Davyd's own metamorphic nature, the device was nestled snugly inside his cerebrum, with nanowires threaded through the visual and auditory sensory areas. It would record everything he saw and heard, and could upload the recording to any Terran computer it connected to. "This is amazing," he exclaimed. "I can barely feel it, unless I'm actively concentrating on it. This is perfect!"

Horrorshow "Well, I did just fly in," Davyd replied, eagerly shaking Kay's forelimb and temporarily ignoring the comment on Russian mobilization, "and, wow, are my arms tired!" He allowed a beat to pass, "so, ah, yes, I'd love a ride." He kept a keen eye (and ear, and other sensory organs) on Kay -- and, to a lesser extent, on Eira -- gauging her reaction to his "dad joke." She's an Upload, so she might still retain whatever sense of humor she'd had in life. And that can be very telling, for both her and Rurland. "Will we be with you for the majority of our visit," he asked as he reached for the limo's door, "or will we be meeting with other members of Rurland's ruling body? As I'm sure you can imagine, our viewers have many questions, concerning all aspects of your country's government."

Artificer Heroditus was still trying to process the news that they had traveled about 40 years into the past (the energies required for such a feat stagger the imagination!) and had been sent 2,000 miles away, back to Freedom City (not as nigh-impossible, but still requiring a staggering amount of power!), when the police arrived. But unlike his compatriots, he still held a (privileged) Atlantean's view of law enforcement officers, and had little experience with the more unpleasant side of Surfacer police. Especially not the police of Freedom's "iron age." "Now, now, there's no need to antagonize these constables," he said, walking between Wilona and the cops. He bowed slightly towards Greystache, "I hope you can overlook my companion's rebellious outburst, sir, but I am sure you know how adolescents can be. We are... displaced, and could use some assistance in regaining our bearings. Could you help us?"
