1. Toughness save, DC 25 (1d20+12=20) fails by 5, Injury + Stun. An no HP to re-roll! Concentration check to maintain Flight (DC 12) (1d20+3=10) He falls!
2. +1 HP for Protectron! Toughness save, DC 25 (1d20+12=17) fails by 8, that's an Injury + Stunned That would make him fall, and his Flight speed's not good enough where he can afford that much lagging. Toughness save, DC 25; HP re-roll (1d20+12=31) Free Action: Maintain Flight Move Action: Move to melee range (assuming it's within 250 feet) Standard Action: Initiate Grapple Melee attack to initiate grapple (1d20+7=10) Melee attack to initiate grapple; HP re-roll (1d20+7=11) 21 hit? If so, Grapple check (1d20+17=23) 0 HP now
3. It appeared as if the electrical blast would hit the strange robot, but at the very last nanosecond Protectron rolled away, avoiding it entirely! It zoomed towards the glowing blue man, arms stretched wide. "Organic being, you have been compromised by a half-extraterrestrial parasite. Please remain calm while I attempt to remove it."
4. If Protectron had eyelids, it would be blinking. "Did one of you do that?," Protectron's flat voice asked over the Lab comm. It quickly added, "Continuing on to tart destination." The strange robot continued on, streaking through the skies of Freedom towards the missile.
5. "Your concern is completely warranted, Mr. Xavier," Archeville said calmly, "and if there is a way to safely reverse your transformation, I am confident we will find it. As I explained, the Grue tend to 'trap' the genetic changes they do so that using the most common reversing agents cause catastrophic organ failure for the patient, but there are many, man options." "Ah, Mr. Xavier, would you allow some of my people into your home to do a search for samples of your pre-transformation DNA? Having them on hand would aid us greatly, give us a target to shoot for, which would be more useful than simply trying to undo anything that looks like it does not belong in here," he tapped on the computer pad Rao held, the one displaying Jubatus' genetic code.
6. Dead Head lowered the now unridden woman to the ground, then stuffed his intestines back into his body. Once back in, the large gash she'd torn in him moments before healed back up. I'll have t'remember that trick! Hrm, wonder who'd be best t'ask, Nick or Phantom? "Hrm, Siren's on the League, so she'd know a thing or two about this. Nick an' me know a few other folks we can turn the gal over to, too, folks who'll know what t'do with her, in case we cain't get in touch with Siren." "So, uh, not t'sound ungrateful for yer help, but... " the super-zombie looked at Crow, Scholar, and Silhouette, "who are you people? You," he nodded to wards Sil, "seem vaguely familiar, but I think y'other two are new t'Freedom. "
7. "But that is not-!" he began. His shoulders sank, but he quickly steeled himself again. "That... is a repressed part of me, yes, as is present in most people. Dark sides that they would rather not have come out, that the strive to control. Now, in my case, I have yet to determine why my Other Side harbors those predilections -- perhaps it is some result of being raised alone by my father, having no real maternal figure in my life-" "... or it could simply be a nastier aspect of my Other's extreme arrogance and megalomania."
8. Archeville gave a noncommittal shrug, "yes and no. It has a decent range, and the net is fairly strong, enough to hold most beings with non-metahuman strength. Same materials as my coat," he said holding open one side of the labcoat, "but it is still not cost effective, and reloading it takes too long. Plus, most police forces seem more interested in other nonlethal weapons, such as 'stun bolts.'" He put the speargun back in his bag, and peered around inside. "That is the biggest problem with my inventions, and something my critics do not seem to take into account. I can invent all sorts of amazing things. That, for me, is usually the easy part. The hard part, the thing that prevents me from 'doing more for the world,' is cost, largely due to the scarcity of the materials involved. It is all well and good to make, say, a power source that can put out enough energy to run the state of Texas, and is the size of a refrigerator, but if it costs more than the gross domestic product of the United States simply to run it, and twenty times that to build and install it, well," he shrugged again, and drew a slightly more advanced handgun from the bag.
9. Protectron flies all-out towards it, getting 1,000 feet closer.
10. Protectron had already taken off at full speed towards the missile. "I am moving closer to get a better look at the projectile," the strange robot announced to Sharl and on his Lab communicator, "and shall attempt to deflect it. Sharl, I think you should continue on to the Space Control Center and scout the area out."
11. Initiative (1d20+3=17)
12. ... as the one who started the thread and came up with the idea, I believe the assumption was that you would be GMing.
13. "G'awn t'sleep now," Dead Head cooed as he wrapped his arms and intestines around her tighter... tighter... tighter... until at last the loa-ridden woman passed out. Woo! She's a tough one! "Hey, Nick," the zombie called to the necromancer, "ya think ya can unhook these two?"
14. Limitless (based on the 2001 novel The Dark Fields by Alan Glynn) looks relevant to the interests of anyone playing a character with Enhanced Intelligence and/or Enhanced Charisma.
15. "Close to it," the strange robot said flatly. "The Lonely Pint Naval Base works closely with the Star Island Space Control Center, which is located on an island off the coast." "Rockets or their communications equipment," it continued. "Will you join me in getting a closer look at the floating metahumans? Your assistance would be quite welcome, as you are able to get into places I cannot, and you are stealthier than I am." After Sharl agreed, the strange golden robot kicked it's jets to full and made a beeline for the base.
16. Fee Action: Maintain Grapple Standard Action: Inflict Damage DC 21 Toughness save Free Action: Extra Effort to SURGE Full Round Action: Attempt Coup de Grace DC 26 Toughness save, and DC 21 Fort save
17. Right, let's get some up in here! Dok needs no space suit, his Gravimetric Belt provides all the life support he'd need. What he does need, though, is a bomb. +35 on Craft (chemical, electronics, and mechanical) and Knowledge (technology) when using his Enhanced Int and the skill bonuses from his HQ/Gadgets. Has Ultimate Effort for those three Craft skills. Extra Effort to stunt the following off his Pseudonatural Mind: Will save vs. Confuse effect (DC 20) (1d20+8=11) fails! Will saves vs. Confuse effect (DC 20); cumulative +1 per roll (1d20+8=23, 1d20+8=27, 1d20+8=28, 1d20+8=14, 1d20+8=17) First consecutive roll makes it, so the Confuse wears off after one round. But what's he doing during that round? Confuse result (1d20=9) 6-10 = Do nothing but babble incoherently (which is fitting!) Will save vs. Mental Damage effect (DC 25) (1d20+8=12) fails by 13, he's staggered + stunned. Fortunately, ArcheTech has excellent medical services. And he's fatigued from the effort. And now his Int is 50 (+20), putting his Int-based skills 5 points higher, to +40 Ultimate Effort to get 20 on a Craft check = 60. DC for Invention is 10 + pp (so he can invent something of up to 50pp), 15 + pp if jury-rigging (so he can jury-rig something of up to 45pp). Corrosion 11 (Extras: Area [burst, General] for Drain Toughness, Area [burst, General] for Strike; Flaws: Action [Full Round] for Drain Toughness, Action [Full Round] for Strike; PFs: Progression 12 [550,000-ft. {104.17 miles/167.64km} radius], Triggered [detonator]; Drawback: Lethal only) [45PP] Normally, that'd take (45x4) 180 hours (7.5 days) to make. He can half that by taking a -5 on the Craft check, but that's still 86 hours (3.75 days). So, jury-rigging, he gets it in 45 rounds (4 minutes 30 seconds). Though, for drama's sake, I'll say it does take him most of the 48 hours. So, in summary: 2 HP spent (1 for Ultimate Effort, 1 for Jury-Rigging; 3 left), and one nasty bomb.
18. "I am sure I will manage, liebchen," Archeville said with a silly grin. He was indeed enjoying the dance, though the "Belt" made him extremely light on his feet and thus easily swayed by his partner. Not that he seemed to mind, not in the slightest. "So...," he finally said, nuzzling against her ear, "just what have you and Lynn been gabbing about, hrm? Something... salacious?"
19. Protectron's body continued to hold the centaur, while the detached head circled around Blueshift again. "Are you sure you are alright?,"[/color it asked flatly. "Is there any way I may speed your recovery?" Midway through its rotation, the head got a good look at the portal. "Were you able to learn anything of the portal and this generator?"
20. "I hope so, liebchen," he said, strength slowly returning, "because I have been searching for nearly twenty years..." He looked up at her. "But... for the first time... it feels like... like I can feel some quietude. Can believe, truly believe, that I can find some solace... with your help." "But..." He turned slightly away, "But I know this is much to ask of you... an aspect you did not expect..."
21. Too far for his restored communications to reach, Protectron continued to rely on The Lab-issued communicator it had been using all along to contact the team. "Lab-Friends, the infected do not appear to be headed in any particular direction, other than away from The Lab. However, I have spotted something else of interest: there appear to be people floating in the skies above the Lonely Point Naval Base."
22. You can't power attack on coup de graces, since there's no attack roll. And Dead Head's fearless lets him auto-pass the save.
23. DONE BY SHAENTHEBRAIN 5PP unspent on Protectron. Communications Systems 2 (4pp; PF: Alternate Power) [5PP] BE: Communication 4 (radio, 1 mile) AP: Datalink 3 (radio, 1,000 feet; PF: Machine Control) Communications Systems 2 (4pp; PF: Alternate Power) [5PP]
BE: Communication 4 (radio, 1 mile) AP: Datalink 3 (radio, 1,000 feet; PF: Machine Control)
DONE BY SHAENTHEBRAIN
24. Free Action: Extra Effort to stunt the following off his Necromantic Array (4pp) as he animates his own intestines, which are hanging out after Marinette's vicious claw attack Move Action: Leap towards Marinette Standard Action: Attack to grapple Melee attack (1d20+8=23) Grapple check (with +2 from Additional Limbs 2 & +2 from Elongation 2) (1d20+18=33) Remember that, per our House Rules, if she fails the Grapple check, the target is Pinned (held immobile, losing their dodge bonus to Defense, and suffering an additional -4 Defense penalty), and if she fails by 5+, the target is Bound, and thus, Helpless, unable to move, or take any actions which require physical activity other than Escaping, with a Defense of (5 + size modifier). DH'll be fatigued at the start of next round.
25. Marinette's hands, up almost to her elbow, were covered in gore from the revenant she'd struck, but he seemed no worse for wear, despite now having a large hole in him. Alright, if'n that's how it's gonna be... The organs spilling out of his rent stomach began to twitch, then reared up! The zombie's own intestines danced and writhed like swaying cobras, and seemed focused on the withered werewolf woman! "'Ey, Marinette!," Dead Head called as he leaped towards her, arms -- and intestines -- stretching out for her, "give us a hug!"
