Dead Head is still holding the necrotic powers from that Nazi-Ghoul (since his Nullify was a Concentration duration deal), so he has to devote a standard action each round to hold it, and if he's jostled will need to make a Concentration check to keep it. (Why's he still holding it? B/c he's not sure when the cops'd get there to put the Nazi-Ghoul safely behind bars.) DH is exhausted, so he can't run or charge, moves at half normal speed, is at -3 attack and defense and -6 to Str and Dex. At such a reduced ability to deal damage, he's falling back on his standard tactic: setting himself to interpose (for any ally within his movement rate, which at the moment is 50 feet). He's partially hoping that the Sorcerer will see him holding the Nazi-Ghoul's mojo and target him directly anyway in an attempt to disrupt it and force DH to let it go. And that by now the cops have that Nazi-Ghoul well secured. IC post coming up.

"Have they packed up the buffet yet?," Archeville's voice called from the doorway. "I was hoping for a small bite before going. I have worked with these caterers before; they make exquisite croissant sandwiches!" "A fine show, all!," he cheered, "and I do thank you for allowing me to help with the security detail. No signs of any trouble, as we had hoped." He glanced over at Dragonfly's direction and then looked back to the others, "if there is nothing else you need, I will gather up a 'doggie bag' and be on my way."

:argh: 18.9 miles is just one range increment. Which means that anyone using it takes a -1 penalty on their Notice check per 18.9 miles. Thus, a Bystander could Take 20 (for 26, with the +6 to Notice the station's Enhanced Skills [i.e.: really good sensors] give), and spot something obvious (like, say, a person on the street) 491.4 miles away. ... ArcheStern's 22,000 miles above sea level. I'm going to need more Extended! Even Dok using it (44 total if he Takes 20 on Notice) can only see something obvious 831.6 miles away with it! EDIT: Ah, and that's why Dok has ESP on all his HQs, so he can just tap into any existing cameras (traffic cams, webcams, cell phone cams, etc.) to see things. Still, that wouldn't help with tracking things like weather patterns, or herd migrations... or asteroids.

"Ah, sorry, old habits," Archeville replied. "I remember that, for some time, you had still gone by Jack even when amongst us!" "As for why I am here..." He paused and chuckled, "well, I suppose you could say it is for data. Like you and the others, I do engage in some combat training, to try and keep myself at an acceptable level of competency. My own simulators can only do so much, though, so..." An impish grin spread across his face, "so, I was hoping I could get in a bit of fencing practice with you!" "Of course," he added, leaning over a bit and speaking in a suddenly lowered and hushed tone, "that is just part of it, as I am also here on a social call of sorts, so we can get to know one another on a more personal level." He straightened back up, "I organized this team, and while it has done a fine job despite my lack of any real oversight, I would like to re-integrate myself into the team, at least in some small manner."

Dok's in his satellite space station, which has Super-Senses 59 (Accurate, Analytical, and Extended 4 [100,000 ft. {18.9 miles} increment] on all Radio senses [14]; Radius and Extended 4 for all Visual senses [10]; communication link 6 [with Archeville's electromagnetic screwdriver, Archestern, Fjölnirskraft, Haus von Archeville, and two ArcheTech facilities {the corporate HQ in Freedom City, and the Berlin facility}] [radio] [6]; tracking extradimensional awareness [radio] [2]; tracking detect energy [radio] [2]; detect metahuman/mutant powers [radio] [1]; detect technology [radio] [1]; detect time [radio] [1]; infravision [1]; low-light vision [1]; microscopic vision 4 [4]; acute analytical precognition [Flaw: Only for predicting macro-scale trends and behaviors] [mental] [3]; radio (with accurate, this is also radar) [1]; analytical scent [analytical and acute for olfactory {i.e., gas chromatographs & chemsniffers}] [2]; trace teleport [radio] [1]; ultra-hearing [1]; ultravision [1]; x-ray vision [Drawback: not through lead] [3]) ("Oodles of Sensors and Analytical Equipment") And if that alone isn't enough to get a good fix on it, he can hotwire/jury-rig something up that'd give him the senses/range needed to spot it. :science:SCIENCE! It's what he does!

"I suppose I really should have anticipated that," he replied with a chuckle. He reactivated the room's shielding, plunging Jessica back into radio silence. "There is a close-knit group of metahumans living just outside of Freedom City, in the Wharton State Forest, who all share a common mutation that gives them many of the abilities associated in legend with werewolves, though unlike standard mutations this one is communicable, passed on via fluid exchange, such as through biting. I first learned of them almost a year ago, when I happened across one fighting some mobsters in the Fens. I tracked him and met him when he returned to the city, opened a dialogue, and eventually opened one with his 'pack.' I have been studying the nature of their mutation since then, and a few months ago started piecing out parts of the project to others here at ArcheTech; elements of it alone are useful in a number of research projects. Which actually proved quite fortunate," he added with a broad grin, "as about two months ago we had a young metahuman came in exhibiting symptoms of lycanthropy... and we were able to cure him!" "For now this is hush-hush -- though I have notified the Freedom League of it, i case of any trouble -- and in time I will make this more public, along with various other 'supernatural' research projects I am undertaking."

"Just relax, Slick," Archeville said in a cheery and hopeful tone while the door sealed the goo-filled mannequin in the chamber, "I am sure we will have you back to normal in no time. You are in excellent hands, and-" "... and what we need most from you is to hold a stiff upper lip," he added with a chuckle. As he worked the cryonic controls, he turned to Miss Americana, and asked in a hushed tone, "so, level with me: did you do this to him on purpose after one to many lewd remarks?" His smirk implied he did not wholly disapprove of such an action.

"Right to it, then, eh?," he chuckled. He'd disassembled the Mauser and put it back into the bag, and was looking over it for what to use next. The bag, like Archeville's home, was bigger on the inside than the outer dimensions would suggest, which threw Colt a bit when he first looked into it. "I suppose you could say... a mix of hubris, neglect and fear." He shrugged, "when I chose you all for this team, over a year ago, it was also around the time I was finally getting ArcheTech off the ground. Running that took more of my time than I had predicted, and then three months later two very big changes occurred in my life: being appointed to the Freedom League Auxiliary... and the beginning of my relationship with Mona," he said with a smile he could not help but make. He picked up a .44 Smith & Wesson Model 29 revolver and loaded it. "Then there was the Grue Invasion, and the... incident with Avenger," he said with some regret in his voice, "which lead me to re-examine how the team was working, and to VINCE being put in charge. I had neglected you all for so long, I was not sure how to integrate, or, rather, re-integrate, myself back into the team, or how well I would be received." He looked up to Colt, "But, over the past few months, I have re-re-examined aspects of my life, and have found a renewed desire to... reconnect with you all. Or at least make a more concerted effort to do so." He approached the firing station, put on the protective goggles and earmuffs, took aim, and fired. BLAM! BLAM! BLAM! BLAM! BLAM! BLAM! The first shot pulled to the left, but the other five hit the centers of the targets at which he'd aimed. He chuckled again, "besides, I need some new places to train my own combat skills. I can only do so much with my own simulators! Now," he continued as he cleared and disassembled the gun, "as for Lynn, I can get you in touch with some rather good travel agents, and they could arrange a very nice package for you two. And as I said when Jill first got here, I even know of some castles in Europe that can be rented out for a week's stay. That would be costlier, even with my good word giving you a discount... but I know that you live a moderate, even modest, lifestyle, and tuck away most of the stipend I give you each month."

The golden robot nodded at Samael, "correct, I am Protectron." It followed Gossamer as instructed. Protectron's calculations were wrong. As the elevator passed the fifth floor, his unauthorized presence tripped the magnetogravitic snare defense system, which pinned him to the back wall of the elevator car! "Assistance required," it said flatly. "Magnetic and gravitic energies used in Lab's defense system compromising performance and integrity of multiple key systems. System physical damage as yet minimal, but 95% likelihood of system functions going offline within 30 seconds, with 10 seconds variance from default prediction."

Before long, Dead Head -- now stripped of his multiple winter layers and down to old jeans and a stained t-shirt -- had cleared the mechanic's pit of the larger pieces of debris, and ran a broom around most of it to clear most of the floor. "There's still some work t'be done," he called up, "but 'least y'all can come down here without riskin' lockjaw!" Mutt entertained himself by chasing a rat around the pit. "Wonder what happened to the folks who used t'run this place," he mused. "Place's been abandoned fer some time, but why? Did they move out all of a sudden? Run outta town fer shady business practices? Or did they pass on, an' no one wanted the place? I'll have t'ask Push; if he don't know, I can some diggin' on m'own."

Cyberkinesis/Cyberpathy Builds & Questions
Dr Archeville replied to Dr Archeville's topic in Archives
If you've got Gina's range of Datalink (rank 10, anywhere on the planet and the satellites overhead and anything on the Moon), pretty much. (Though you'd still need to be able to accurately sense them, which gets back to the "does Datalink have a built-in ESP-like function that allows you to scan areas for systems?" thing.) If it's only a rank or two (10 or 100 feet), it'd still fairly easy to remove the Device from your range of influence. Speaking of areas, Area on Datalink (which is basically Communication) would let you interface with any and all systems in the area (though you'd need the Selective power feat to interface with only some in an area). There's no problem in sending out the same message/command to every system (like having all computers open a word processing program and typing Ich bin der Meister und Sie wird befolgen mich in large, bold font), but what about sending different messages/commands to different systems in the area (ex.: sending different PMs to Bob, Carol, Ted and Alice)? -
... hunh. Well that's just bass ackwards. Congrats, Quinn, no fatigue for you!

... 3 is less than 10, so Push failed, and did not get a good night's sleep.

Cyberkinesis/Cyberpathy Builds & Questions
Dr Archeville replied to Dr Archeville's topic in Archives
Related question: would Datalink and/or Machine Control allow someone to use one of their own Devices if it were not in-hand? Ex. 1: After seeing the fun Datalink parties all the other blonde, blue-eyed supergeniuses (Dragonfly & Miss Americana) are having, Doktor Archeville uses to give himself Datalink. Later, while attending a fundraising event, masked thugs break in and try to rob it. Could he use his Datalink to access the Electromagnetic Screwdriver in his pocket and Gadget up some Magnetic Control to remove their guns, while still keeping his hands up and behind his head? Ex. 2: The Power Corp breaks into The Lab and tries to steal stuff, and finds Mara Hallomen working in her workshop. While the thieving mercenaries train their guns on the petite cyberkinetic, could she use her Datalink to have her Gauntlets (which are on the other side of their rooms) shoot these fools in the back? On the one hand, this sounds like something the power could be used for. On the other, it also seems like a way to circumvent both paying for the Subtle or Indirect power feats, and the flaw in having an Easy or Hard to Lose Device (especially in cases where the Datalink's ranged is several thousand miles).
