  1. Judging by Archeville's facial expression -- an expression Powerhouse had not seen nearly often enough -- he was fairly impressed with the young man's artistic talent. "These are rather good quality, young man! Have you taken lessons? Are you a graphic designer by trade? Or a comic book artist?" He retrieved a wand-like device from his pocket, and made some adjustments to the controls along its side. "Now to scan these in to the system, so we will know who to look for, and -- if we are very lucky -- stop them before anyone else is hurt!" He scanned in the pictures one at a time, nodded with satisfaction at the sequence of beeps and blinking lights his techno-wand made, then turned back to his patient. "The police will prefer to have these hand-drawn images for their search. Would you permit them to have these?"
  2. Archeville paused briefly in his examination to give the cyberbat a quick scratch under its chin. It did not seem thrilled with his touch, and moved its jaw as if to bite him, but was unable to move its neck. He cleared his throat, "that energy surge could be from weapons fire. See the scorch mark on the head, here and here?" He pointed to the damaged portions with a pen, "could have been an attack by a rival of the people who cyberized it, or else an opportunistic inventor who just happened by and took the opportunity to nab a prize. Or, the damage logs are corrupt, and these scorches and the damage to the memory chip were from the agent sent to put it down and remove all evidence." He rubbed his chin, "investigating where the emergency signal was sent to could tell us who is behind this, assuming they have not already cleared out. No idea who or what is in there." He turned to the guitar genius, "your call, Rift."
  3. "Ah, a moment, please," he said, puzzled. "My question was not a binary, yes/no thing, Miss Parker-" "'No,' you do not want these abilities? 'No,' you do not want me to remove them? 'No,' you do not want my help in whichever course of treatment it is you are planning to pursue? Do recall that all I have done is performed one scan, one really not that much more advanced than the MRI you received at Freedom Medical, save that mine was faster. There are still many more tests to be done to fully ascertain what happened to you. And while I cannot and would not force you to undergo them, I would consider it a... favor," he grinned, "if you would let me satisfy my own scientific curiosity and run more tests to see how this change occurred. Superpowers aside, it may be possible to turn what happened here into a way to bypass damaged nerves and restore mobility and sensation to certain disabled persons!"
  4. "" he spat. "" "" he continued, pacing in the air and ranting, "" He zoomed closer, "" He backed up into the air, ""
  5. So simply Bruising or Injuring a Staggered person won't knock them Unconscious? Good to know.
  6. "Doctor Titan is partially correct," it announced in its clear, flat voice. "I am fully sentient and sapient, able to learn from my experiences, and capable of self-initiative, creativity, and empathy, sympathy, and compassion for organics. I can feel love, hatred, fear, rage, boredom, fascination, jealousy, joy, and the like. However, I do tend to emphasize logic and rationality, and prefer to rely on direct data rather than supposition or extrapolation, though I am capable of both." It turned just enough to face Miss Americana, "I do not currently have a base of operations. I do appreciate the offer to assist me in locating or constructing one. My requirements are few." Dragonfly's mention of The Lab brought its attention back to her, "that sounds like a superlative location. Is this Lab far from here? Does it have communications and access to knowledge databases so that I may learn more about organic customs, desires, and needs?" It suddenly whirled its head back towards Doctor Titan and Supercape, "to the best of my ability, I would never willingly harm an organic life form, or through inaction allow an organic life form to come to harm. To this end, I was constructed with a number of defenses, including a sturdy construction and a superhuman level of strength, as well as-" "Apologies; internal diagnostics indicate several systems are operating at reduced efficiency, or are completely nonfunctional."
  7. "," he snorted derisively. "" "" Mona wasn't entirely certain if that was true, but if so, it presented a key insight: as much of a "cultured evil genius" as this "Other" might want to appear, in truth all the cultured part came from the Viktor she knew and loved. This was nothing but base urges, prejudices and instincts. A thug. A thug with a monstrously powerful mind, the Devil's own charm, and the face of an angel. "," He leaped off the couch, into the air, ""
  8. Protectron looked back to Dragonfly. From what little could be read of it, it seemed as concerned for her as she was interested in it. "Lack of adequate rest is deleterious to the functioning of organics. "Apologies if my coming online negatively affected any of your experiments. How may I make amends to you?" It looked up to 'Caradoc,' was still a moment, then extended its right hand. "I also want to be your friend."
  9. "Of course, of course!," he replied enthusiastically. "A personal project, or something being worked on with others at The Lab? Ah, no, do not tell me," he waved, "that can come later, and only if you wish." "There are still more tests I would like to run, like to see if your neurotransmitters were affected. Make sure there are no harmful side-effects, either short-term or long. But, really, the question of the day - one I am sure you have already been asking yourself" he said with a smile and a wink, "is: what do you want to do about this? On the one hand," he held out his right hand, palm up, "I can try to 'streamline' this some, make the inputs less chaotic. Perhaps even create a small regulator you could wear to better help you get the hang of it all. On the other hand," he held out his left, palm up, "I could try and remove the metallic bits, undo any other alterations, and remove this ability."
  10. Archeville beamed, "certainly, young man! I believe..." The Doktor glanced around the room, then ducked out into the hall just enough to pluck three pieces of paper off one of the messageboards out there. The front of two of the sheets were a reminder for staff to review the latest security protocols, the third notice of a bake sale; the backs were blank. "Here you go, and I have some colored pens here," he said as he retrieved some from his labcoat pocket. "Or would you prefer pencils? I am sure we have some somewhere around here; I know I ordered some...."
  11. "The guns themselves make new ammunition as nee-," he said before suddenly stopping. "Yes, drifting. There is time for that later." "In Potsdam, in the German state of Brandenburg, there is a woman, Hexen. She is a... well, that is, she claims to be a witch, a magic user. Sees and communes with spirits, controls the elements, that sort of thing." His tone was an odd mix of respect and distaste. "She and I have worked together on a few cases. She was... difficult to work with, due to our radically different worldviews, but I never questioned her dedication or her spirit. She-" His face contorted in rage as he abruptly switched to German, "" He turned his head and grimaced, "" Viktor-that-was-not-Viktor turned and looked at Mona with cold, cold eyes. He leaned back on the opposite end of the couch, and smiled a sharky grin. "
  12. Blast 11 doesn't get through Chevalier's Impervious 12 (normally 14; it's Ablative, so he lost 1p worth [2 ranks, in this case] from her hammer strike). EDIT: That's cheap, and Odin'd know better, so I'll say that one free pp you've got for the slot can be used for Penetrating 1, which'll actually force him to make a save. Toughness save, DC 26 (w/ Penetrating 1, so he actually does need to make the save) (1d20+16=17) Fails by 9, he's Bruised + Stunned! EDIT: No, he's suffering 1 Bruise already, that reduces it by 1, so he fails by 10 = Staggered & Stunned! Concentration check, DC 15, to Sustain Flight (1d20+4=12) Flight fails! Concentration check, DC 22, to Sustain Impervious Field (1d20+4=24) Impervious remains up Fort save, DC 21, vs. Paralyze (1d20+11=20) Fails by 1, so Chevalier is slowed. Stunned = he releases the grapple... and she falls! And he's falling, too! But she'll be dead by the time she hits the water. Round 3 Free Action: Switch Movement Array to Teleport Move Action: Teleport down to the water, prepare to catch Valk & take her stuff Free Action: Curse as her gear is whisked off her corpse back to Asgard! Round 4+ Swim, Fly, and Teleport back to HQ.
  13. Failing the save for Paralyze by 2 makes her slowed (can only take a move or standard action each round, and at -1 attack rolls, Defense, and reflex saves), not paralyzed. More importantly, though, are her existing Disabled and Staggered conditions: So that alone make her unconscious and dying.
  14. You'd need Ranged on the Paralyze: as-is, that Line Paralyze would be coming straight off her, and thus not affect her at all; the Blast could be position so it could get her as well as him And, for completeness's sake, you should add Alt Save [Fort] to the Paralyze.
  15. You can, sure, though I would like you to actually stat that out. The Side-Effect Flaw is what you're looking for. Though Side-Effect has three things to keep in mind: 1) Side-Effect occurs if you miss with the attack; if you want the Side-Effect to always occur, take the flaw twice. 2) The value of the Side-Effect should roughly equal the value of the power it's a side-effect of, without the discount of the Side-Effect flaw. (Ex.: Blast 10 w/ Side-Effect should have a Side-Effect that costs 20pp) 3) The Side-Effect always hits, so you can't spend some of those points by buying the Range up. Alternatively, use a Ranged Area effect, hitting Chevalier with; she'd be caught in the effect and subject to it. Alternatively alternatively, an Aura.
  16. It looked down at Dragonfly, "yesterday? Organics require more frequent intake of nutrients. Would you like me to get you something to eat?" Caradoc's words seemed to elicit a reaction -- it took a step back! "Preserve life by... exterminating sentients? That is highly illogical; surely the most effective way to preserve life is with the aid of other sentient beings, working together with machinekind!" "My maker is..." It paused, looking back and forth between 'Caradoc' and Miss Americana. "I came online at 10:00am on January 1st, 2011, in the domicile behind me," it repeated. "I was built to preserve organic life, in quality as well as quantity." "What are your functions?," it repeated. "Do you work to preserve organic life?"
  17. Archeville paused, "Doctor Hobo? A reanimated dead man with electrical abilities? Sounds like someone I should definitely keep tabs on!" Once Jessica had settled down and voiced her concern, he chuckled. "Oh, no, no, nothing of the sort. Well," he began passing the wand-like device over her head, "assuming you can lie... perfectly... still..." Archeville hummed a little tune as he passed the gadget back and forth over her head several times, once down the entire length of her body, and then again a few times around her head. She could not place the tune. "Alright, that is enough scanning," he said as he adjusted the controls on the wondrous techno-wand. "Give me a moment to process these into a displayable mode and... ah!" Broadcast into the air before them was a life-sized 3-D holographic MRI scan of Jessica Parker's insides, in various shades of gray. Highlights appeared on several parts, in a rainbow of colors, mostly in the brain and along the spine. Archeville appeared to merely at it a moment, then nodded. (In truth, she knew that moment was all he needed, as that was all she needed to notice several things.) "Yes, this is about as I expected. Ah, we will start with the brain first." The image 'zoomed in' on Jessica's brain, which was now as big as her entire body and thus easy to make out. "One of the biggest changes is to the pars opercularis and pars triangularis," he pointed to a section near the front of her brain, "which together make Broca's area, the region most involved in language processing. Which would be needed to 'translate' commands to and from the codes used by devices toy interact with. There are also changes to your auditory" he indicated a section in the middle of her brain, then one near the back, "and visual cortexes, so you can interpret the new stimuli. Now, I am not sure for certain, as this is just one scan, but my hypothesis is that there was some alteration to some of your neurotransmitters, or a change which resulted in the generation of all-new neurotransmitters, which react in certain ways when exposed to various long-wavelength electromagnetic energies, such as radio waves, which is what allows you to receive and transmit signals." "Now, here," he refocused the image so it showed all of her again, then zoomed in on her spine, "we see changes all along both your spinal cord and the spinal column itself. Those dark spots all along there are metal deposits; your spine is now one giant antenna. Probably a remnant of the original neurotoxin; it sounds like your 'Doctor Hobo' was trying to whip up something that would have effect similar to heavy metal poisoning -- a subtle and largely irreversible neurodegenerative -- and these are the remains of what you been exposed to. Though your pre-existing mutation probably served as a 'buffer' for the effect, all those connections serving as redundant back-ups. Hrm... it would have had to be something the body would readily absorb, and hold on to for some time..." He was silent for a brief moment. Was he thinking through what sorts of chemical compounds could be used for such an effect? "... probably a gadolinium-iron or gadolinium-copper alloy. Oh, your armor itself may have been an element of this change; I would like to see it, examine the breached portions. Ah, there are similar deposits all throughout your peripheral nervous system, which is likely the cause of the sensation you have felt on your skin." He adjusted a control on the wand, and the image resolved back to the full image of her body, which began slowly rotating. "See, little flecks all throughout, though the largest concentrations are along your spine and skull. Very uneven, too; definitely not an intended effect. You, ah, will probably want to stay away from microwaves," he said with a slight chuckle. "Honestly, you are lucky you got away with as little lasting damage as you did!"
  18. "Ah, yeah, sorry 'bout that," the Revenant said apologetically. "Guess this is kinda yer turf, should'a asked the locals fer help. 'S'what I get fer workin' solo fer so many years." He pulled out his pockets, "ain't got no phone, rarely have tha coin on me ta make a call at a public phone... an' those is gettin' rare an' rare nowadays... but if'n I'm in the area again, or need ya fer anythin' else, I'll find some way ta contact ya." He pushed his pockets back in, then extended a hand to Carson. A great mastiff appeared between Dead Head and Gabriel, facing the angelic hero. He was smiling and wagging his tail, and looked like a normal mastiff, save for the cheery, cherry-red eyes. He glanced down at the dog, then back to Gabriel. "Hey, seems Mutt likes ya!"
  19. Silver Scream's in a dome of sound. Getting to he would require Slick to break through the Toughness 2 dome first. Also, Slick knows she's a ghost -- a ghost-y ghost -- and thus knows she cannot be grappled by the likes of hir.
  20. Common Sense: not so common! Another idea: a legacy! Though this would require an NPC mentor-figure. My current vote Tech Titans: 3 Gearhead Guardians: 2 Science Squad: 1
  21. It's a Str check I needed, not a Grapple check. So that'd be a 27 total for her, not enough to resist. Wait -- she's stunned! No actions = no opposed Grapple checks, or opposed Str checks! (Well, technically she can make reaction checks, but resisting being dragged seems like something she'd need to actively/consciously resist. And she failed the check anyway.) I'll let you keep that roll. Remember her damage conditions Disabled: take one standard or move action per round; doing anything strenuous (including moving all out or attacking) moves you to dying. Injury x2: -2 penalty on all further lethal damage saves Staggered: take one standard or move action per round; suffer any further damage moves you to unconscious
  22. "Afraid?," she heard echoing off the walls, unable to pinpoint the source. "Fear is for lesser men... never for Cavil!" Suddenly she felt him slam into her from behind, held in a full nelson lock! "The last thing you will hear... is the cracking of your vertebrae... one... BY ONE!" He began pressing down, bending her neck far more than it was ever intended to go. Suddenly, he stopped. "Ah, no! You would not want to die here in a stinking cave, would you? You would want something more glorious, yes?" he mocked. "Come; I shall oblige you!" Maintaining the hold, he kicked his jet-boots on and flew out of the cave, then up, up, up, nearly 2,000 feet into the night sky.
  23. Actually, she's Bruised x2, Injured x2, Staggered, Disabled, Stunned; 4 HP Due to the Bruise + Injury she got from the opening Blast. Round 2 Free Action: Switch to Enhanced Str/Super-Str Mode Reaction: GM Fiat to gain Improved Grab; Valk gets an HP Standard Action: Charge Valkyrie; doing no damage with the unarmed strike, but am starting a Grapple Attack vs. Valkyrie (stunned, Defense 12) to initiate grapple; All-Out Attack (-5 Defense, +5 Attack), Power Attack (-5 Attack, +5 Damage) (1d20+15=33) (Why no damage? Because any damage done to a Staggered person renders them Unconscious, and he doesn't want her losing consciousness. ) I forgot fatigue penalties, so -1 on that attack; I also forgot +2 attack from Charging. So, 34, not 33. (Hey, his Defense is only 19 now!) Grapple check (1d20+39=58) Again, I forgot the -1 attack & -1 Str mod from fatigue, so that's only a 56. She cannot beat that; since that also beats what she can get by 5+, she is bound & helpless. She may be able to beat this: Move Action: Attempt to fly out with his captive. I'll say Super-Str does apply to this, since Super-Str applies to the Grapple check. Str/Super-Str check (+12 Str, +5 Super-Str); includes -1 Str mod from fatigue (1d20+16=33) Gah, forgetting thing again: the Super-Str 2 Evil!Deep One!Dok has on his own. So that's a 35 total. If she does not beat that, he's carrying her off and up. Her 180 lb. frame is not even a light load for his effective Str of 69, so he does not suffer a reduction in speed when flying up with her. He can move up to 2500 feet with her, enough to get out of the cave and up ~2,000 feet into the sky. (And you can guess what'll be coming next, as it is something I PMed you when we were planning this.) If she does beat, they stay in the stinky, cloudy cave.
  24. So 3 is for the one we most like, or is 1 the one we most like? If we're deciding by counting up the total numbers, it seems you should put 3 on the one you most like.
  25. DH's blow will do knockback to the stunned beastie, if possible. Mutt will simply go check on Cannonade.
