  1. Constructs don't suffer nonlethal damage, it's automatically converted to lethal. Also, how's Valkyrie going to see in the lightless caverns/tunnels, as she lacks any Super-Senses?
  2. You get A or B. Those Comprehend 3 polyglots can speak any language, but only one at a time (they don't ave a "Babel effect" where everyone hears them speak in their native tongue), and can understand all and can read/write all.
  3. Dead Head's up for it!
  4. "I am sure this will be but a temporary lodging for you," Archeville said. "Now, how to get you in there..." "Miss Americana," he tuned to the statuesque scientist, "did you incorporate any sort of vacuum mechanism into the bladder to facilitate fluid transfer?" "Or did you have another means in mind for moving Slick her into hir new body?"
  5. Then that'd be a ranged effect, like Snare. So Snare, AP: Blast would be the way to go.
  6. That's what I said, yes. That's still sounding like regular Elongation.
  7. If it's a tentacle-like appendage, I'm not seeing a justification for Projection. Projection = limb that floats separately from your body, with nothing connecting them.
  8. The former, Kav. It sounds exactly like that you're wanting.
  9. Elongation?
  10. Archeville nodded, "he may not be as nondescript as he believes. If he's got the same virus you do, he'll have an elevated heart rate, blood pressure, and temperature. Not exactly something that is uncommon, especially in this country, and while he is in 'human mode' his levels may not be that much more elevated, but it is something. What is promising, though," he leaned forward, excitement creeping into his voice, "is the samples of the virus we were able to get from you before the treatment eradicated it. Well, not of the virus itself, really, more like fragments of it, but, enough to perhaps device a test. Certain illnesses cause your body to... well, stink in a certain way, due to the bacterial or viral particles and toxins accumulating in your sweat and lungs and mouth. If we can work out a way to test for the presence of these viral particles in a person, by testing their breath or body odor, we may be able to track this fellow down!" "Now," he took a deep, calming breath, and leaned back in his chair a bit, "what about the woman? What did she look like? I am sure the police and any superheroes who investigate this would be interested in talking to her."
  11. Lightning exploded outward, striking all ten of the assailants, and blowing holes in them! Some fell over silently in quiet shock, others raged and sputtered with their dying 'breath,' but as all fell, their bodies crumbled to ash and blew away on the breeze coming from the Great Bay. "Merci beaucoup, mademoiselle!," the armored figure said as he approached the woman by the now-scorched cliff face. He hovered before her for a moment, then settled with a THUD onto the beach. "I see mah concern for you was unwarranted... dzough I do hope you do not 'old eet against me. I 'ope you are up for more," he pointed at the cave mouth, "dzer are at least anodzer dozen more vampires in dzere, waiteeng in dze dark. Who knows how long dzey 'ave been feedeeng on dze poor souls een dze Asylum above! May I count on your 'elp?" He held out his right hand to her.
  12. Let's say there's 10 [redacted] in all, 6 bunched at Chevalier and 4 roughly halfway between the cave mouth and the rest. And all are close enough for Valk to hit them. Reflex saves, DC 20 (1d20+6=20, 1d20+6=22, 1d20+6=19, 1d20+6=23, 1d20+6=13, 1d20+6=14, 1d20+6=12, 1d20+6=9, 1d20+6=11, 1d20+6=11) #1, 2, and 4 make it. DC 20 Toughness save for #1, 2, and 4; DC 25 Toughness save for the rest. They can't make that, and since they're Minions they automatically take the worst option. Toughness save, DC 20 (1d20=2, 1d20=13, 1d20=5) Also fails, and, being Minions, they take the worst option. And being Constructs, the nonlethal damage is converted to lethal, and that means they're dead.
  13. Also, that power's a Full action to use, so to move and do that you'll need to use Extra Effort to SURGE. She is starting this with her standard 4 HP.
  14. Archeville chuckled back, "so they say, and who am I to argue?" He cleared his throat, "I could come to you, I do have a number of sensors and testing equipment that is portable, and if you would be more comfortable doing tests in an environment you are familiar with I can certainly accommodate you. But much of my really advanced gear is too bulky or too delicate to be easily transported, so to use those you would need to come in. Ah, how about this: I come to you for some preliminary tests, if we find anything unusual or worrisome we can book some time in my laboratory. Does that sound good?"
  15. If she's at the edge of the cliff, she's about 50 feet above the melee. (Asylum's on top of the cliff.) Unless you meant to say "the face of the cliff," where the cave mouth is, out of which the crazy people are running.
  16. Gut reaction (Sense Motive check) is that this is a hero who's up against a horde of psychopaths. That untrained Know (Current Events) check lets her know the armored figure is known as Chevalier. He's apparently a Frenchman who came to FC during the October Cultist/Undead Spike, and has been fighting undead monsters and evil cultists since then. Has never been seen out of his armor. Notice checks lets her know that, even in the light of the full moon, these guys look unusually pale, and their eyes unnaturally red. The long, sharp nails and fangs aren't typical of escaped mental patients, either.
  17. Know (history) tells her this is not Daedalus. The armor's more Medieval French in design, not Greek, and this one's gold-y whereas Daedalus's is bronze-y. You can try an untrained Int roll for an ersatz Knowledge (Current Events) check to see if she recognizes more. The scene itself is fairly clear-cut, a guy fighting a bunch of dudes pouring out of a cave in the rock under the asylum. Are they escaped inmates? Well, they do look animalistic, crazed and bloodthirsty... but one might expect, if this many inmates were escaping, that some sort of alarm would be sounding from the asylum above, but there is not. Gimme a Notice and a Sense Motive check.
  18. The Doktor nodded as he spoke. When he was done, he smiled at him again, "an excellent report, Powerhouse, very good." He walked around the bed, back to the foot, and jotted more notes onto the pad computer he held. "Is there anything else? Can you recall anything else the wolf-man said that struck you as odd? Or any other details about the man? Was he wearing any jewelry or have any tattoos or scars or other identifying marks?"
  19. "Patience is a virtue, sir... madame... Slick. And I do believe that these recent findings will prove most useful in manifesting a remedy for your predicament." Archeville drew his Electromagnetic Screwdriver from his pocket, and dialed in the pre-set number for the radio frequency Miss Americana had given him to use when he needed to contact her. "Ready when you are, Miss Americana; I believe I have a few ideas that will compliment your skeletal scaffold idea. In fact, I believe everything we need is right here; I will need some compounds from the syntheskin division..." After listing the chemicals he would need, he said goodbye, hung up, and turned back to Slick. "The binders used for the foam substrate of the syntheskin should prove adequate to bind your proto-flesh, though I will need to run a few tests to make sure there are no toxic side-effects, and that you still retain some mobility. If all goes well, you will be walking out of here in a few hours!"
  20. [bg=#000000]"Psionic?"[/bg] he repeated in his eerily flanged sepulchral voice, [bg=#000000]"I used ta have psionic power! Well... kinda."[/bg] The headless body shrugged its shoulders, [bg=#000000]"see, when I was little, I'd get these bad headaches, but when I did I could sometimes see things. See inside people's heads, or see what they was seein'. Few times, I even saw diff'rent times, the past an' the future! But those really hurt."[/bg] [bg=#000000]"But dimensional stuff..."[/bg] He scrunched his face up in thought as he passed his head from one hand to the other, [bg=#000000]"well, I used ta have a loa in mah head, and they's from another dimension, so maybe it's... residue from that? Or maybe some... bleed-over, I guess ya could say, from all them afterlife-worlds? Whoooaaa-"[/bg] His body froe, holding his head stock still, [bg=#000000]"I thought tech an' magic didn't mix? How's you able ta detect all that, if that's what it is?"[/bg] Mutt cocked his head at Miss Americana, but remained in his spot on the floor by the table Dead Head had been on.
  21. Valkyrie appeared in Port Regal, on the gently upward sloping access road just outside the grounds of the Providence Asylum. To her right, through approximately 100 feet of light woods, was the Great Bay, and from that direction she could hear battle, mostly in the form of blasts of energy, jet thrusters, and spat curses. Her demi-divine speed carried her down the sloping grounds in a flash, to a beach; a few hundred feet north was the stone bluff atop which the Asylum sat. Out of a cavern in the bluff came several humanoid figures, about half in the tattered rags of the homeless and half in a varied mix of contemporary clothing. They were joining other figures out on the beach itself, who had just leaped up to grab at a figure hovering in the air and were trying to pull him down. The flying one wore a massive, broad-shoulder suit of golden armor, with blue light shining out from the joints. Thrusters at the feet and along the back held it aloft, and it was firing laser-like blasts at the gathered hordes. The figured turned and saw Valkyrie, and shouted (in the somewhat flat, notably mechanical voice of someone wearing powered armor) "run, mademoiselle! Dzees ees not a fight you want to be een!"
  22. So he's in a weird Jazz/Trance state? (Brain damage from constant vibration as reason for some of his less-well-thought-out stunts?) I'll allow the Toughness, Fort, and Ref, but not the Will.
  23. "Actually," he said, grinning, "it does, though they are meant for defense from other spacecraft only. Their maximum range is around 22 miles, but ArcheStern is approximately 22 thousand miles above sea level. Although... the laser point defense system and massive communications array could... theoretically...," he stammered, "be converted into a powerful mega-laser capable of... ah... destroying an... ah... an entire city block... in one pulse." "Which would be one reason," he quickly added, getting back to his usual tone, "that the UN requests weekly updates, to make sure the security is up to their standards, and to make sure there is no work of a banned nature going on up there, and to make sure we have not been compromised by extraterrestrials. I had hoped Archetech -- of which ArcheStern is a part -- would not be beholden to any one government or business interest, but being watched by nearly 200 governments simultaneously -- who are watching each other as much as they watch me -- is a compromise I have come to accept. And, given my... past, and the fear my name still brings in some circles, I cannot fault them their caution. Ideally, I would he preferred to have no weaponry on ArcheStern, just as I myself carry no dedicated weaponry, but the last Grue Invasion, as well as the threat of asteroids and other natural disasters, made it, I felt, a necessity."
  24. From the 25th to the 29th, I'll be doing assorted family-centric holiday stuff, and will have little to no online access.
  25. He leaned into her hand, and took her other in his. He looked up at her with eyes full of sad joy. "Knowing you could handle this is one reason why I told you. That you deserved to know is another. That I wanted to tell you, that I have wanted to tell you, to let you in an share my innermost -- and... darkest -- secret with you, for months, is another. You mean the world to me, Mona, and I have wanted to let you into mine -- fully into mine -- for so long." He kissed her hand, "your support has been invaluable, dearest, moreso than anything else I have tried. Just... knowing you are there, wanting nothing yet giving everything... even now, seeing how you are taking this, shows you have this boundless strength that I find... grounding. I... hrm... " He looked a bit flustered, "I am sorry, I am trying to talk with only half my mind... and that is the damnedest thing about it all. As much as it is a constant struggle, having that part of me, that struggle is where much of my vitality and energy comes from. It is not quite like the Id/Ego/Super-Ego divide, there are aspects of Jung's Shadow there, which makes it all the more difficult to diagnose, but... ah, no, I am getting off on a tangent. And complaining about that bad is a poor way to spend the good times." He was quiet a moment, then his face split into a grin. "Splitting... that actually is something I had toyed with. But... too many variables there... transferring a mind to another body is tricky enough, but transferring only parts of a mind, such that the original is still intact... is something that is, so far, out of even my league. And even if I could, and it escaped... a version of myself, with all my knowledge and skill, but none of my ethics or morals..." He shuddered. "Twenty two minutes and seven seconds left," he said in a hollow tone.
