[Interceptors] Zombie Powder is a Helluva Drug [IC]
Dr Archeville replied to Dr Archeville's topic in West End
Despite Jack's and Colt's best efforts, the flames raged on. Though they were still confined to the basement, it would not be long until they leaped up to the first floor, though before that happened the thick smoke and fumes from who-knows-what was burning down there could incapacitate the people above. And if there's a boiler or gas main down there, well, that'd just turn the entire place into a neighborhood-shaking bomb! And to top it off, the damage it was doing to the structure could weaken floorboards and cause parts to collapse at any moment. Burning, suffocation, or falling -- lots of nasty ways for someone to meet their end in here. Oh, and being trampled to death by the panicking mob. Jack barley noticed the thin trickle of blood from his nose. The fire was bigger than anything he'd tied channeling before, and it reacted almost as if it carried some of the blind hate of the one who set it. "" The young girl was panicked, but waffled between running downstairs (which were quickly filling with dark gray smoke) and trying her luck with Jack's zip-line. She opted for the latter, clumsily making her way down, and getting lots of grass stains on her clothes. Jack hear a soft rumble above him. Chica!Grim had to wade through the crowd of partiers to get to the window to see Colt, so when she told them to evacuate she did not have to worry about being between the mob and the exits. Most went out the back door -- and did so with surprising efficinecy, as if the place had been evacuated more than once before -- down the open stairs she'd come up, but a few made for the inner door, the one leading to the interior stairs... where Jack was. Colt saw Marlin's blast had a tiny effect, but the fire quickly raged to recover what ground it had lost. If he could get in a better position, maybe he would have a better chance at snuffing the flames. -
"Good, good!," the Doktor replied enthusiastically. "It is alvays best to have family und loved vons to support you in times of great... stress. Does Lois enjoy svimming? Never too young to learn dat particular skill, I say, especially vhen living near de coast." Family always interested Archeville, given his own... unusual one. "I do not suppose," he continued, in a tone indicating what he was about to ask was quite touchy even by his standards, "dat you und Charlie haff discussed haffing any more children since de accident?"

First ep of the Iron Man anime is up.

Let's see if I can help wrap this up. Move Action: Move so Dok is within 20 feet of everyone (or to a spot where everyone could get to within 20 feet of him) Free Action: HP to gain Alt Power Feat for Teleport Teleport 4 (400 feet / 1 mile); Extras: Affects Others, Area [20-ft. Burst]) Free Action: Extra Effort to SURGE Full Round Action: Extended Teleport everyone out. Well, everyone except the Robot and Knievel (who are either out of range, or unable to be teleported due to [insert toxic phlebotinum here]). This'll get everyone (except Knievel) clear of the asploding Robot, and "surely he could not have survived that!" The building we're in should be evacuated, or people are in their panic rooms, which should be tough enough and far enough form the explosion to keep the people inside safe (if not a bit rattled). That work, or did you have something else in mind?

"Everywhere, near as I can tell," the Revenant replied, "'least, all the Realms'a the Dead. Saw some draugr th'other night, a vrykolokas in' the West End, an' last week I swear I saw a civateteo down by th' South river, in th' Fens, an' a penanggalan flappin' over Lantern Hill. An' I plum lost count'a the times an Aztec or Egyptian mummy woke up in some museum!" Oddly, when Dead Head rattled off the names of the assorted undead creatures he'd faced, he did so with the perfect clarity of a native speaker. "But what's really got me worried is that I ain't been able t'figure if all these spirits showin' up is some intended part'a whatever's goin' on, or if that's jes' a side-effect'a whatever the real goal is... or a cover-up t'distract us from somethn' even worse! Either way," he paused and shook his head, "bad ju-ju. I do got a feelin' Samedi's behind it, but not jes' Samedi -- been my experience tha' he tends t'go with jes' his own type'a zombies, not th' variety I been seein'."

Using his assorted Super-Senses to try and find something. Taking 20 on the Notice check, for a 26 total.

This is the place, alright. The overdressed undead studied the scene for a few minutes, standing there swaying slightly in the breeze. The distant susurrus of the dead was joined by other sounds, rattles and chimes and distant chants, all indications of magic worked throughout the city. Freedom had a lot going on in its magical underbelly, more than most cities Dead Head had been to, so narrowing down specifics would be tricky in the best of circumstances. Dead Head's experience made up somewhat for his little formal training (and that training had only come recently, from Phantom, and ended just as abruptly when she'd departed on 'urgent matters'), but if there was anything he could pick out, it was necromantic magic. And that's probably what was used here, or at least clung to the kidnappers and murderers who had been here.

Trying to get back to posting. What's Avenger suggesting we do? One of us hold/ready action so we can do a combined strike on Sextus? Also, unless Sextus resists Dead Head's grapple (and unless I'm mistaken on the grapple rules), she's pinned & helpless, and Avenger can just walk up and take her Hard to Lose Staff.

Arrowhawk would provide some valuable practical experience in how to improve society.

Vignette for October 2010: Unbalanced
Dr Archeville replied to Dr Archeville's topic in Freedom City Stories
I'm going to do this Vignette slightly differently from others. Rather than waiting until the beginning of the following month to post them all, I'm going to post them as they come in to me. This will make it easier for you to play off one another, and allow us to see the whole thing as it evolves. And here's the first one! Momentum's Vignette Saturday, October 30th 2010, 11:04 PM. Downtown, The Fens -
Saturday, October 30th 2010, 11:04 PM. Downtown, The Fens. With all the grace of an inebriated gazelle, Momentum bounced from rooftop to rooftop, nearly falling off the shabbier shingles in the Fens once or twice as he gazed down to street level from his lofty perch, street lamps the only indication of illumination below as he continued to feign his super-spy routine. It all started with the pre-Halloween party he had no business attending - but did so out of peer pressure anyway - when the young teen hero began hearing rumors of a ‘party after the party’ by some of the FDR High students in attendance. Chief amongst these impromptu informants from the party that Momentum had been interested in following was one of his own classmates by the name of Don Carson. It wouldn’t have even struck him as being all that weird were it not for the increase in Zombie Powder drug-related activity in the Midtown district by some gang calling themselves ‘The Red Devils,’ and Don – much to Ashley’s surprise – had suddenly begun sporting their colors, a clear sign of the influence from the Red Devils. After a bit of nosing around at the party proper, Noah discovered his hunch was right on the money with his assumption, solidifying the link between the party and increase in drugs at FDR High. It had to be some sort of recruitment drive… if not something more sinister! And so here he was, acting like an imitation ninja, spying on his classmates from on-high in an attempt to locate and crash the drug-fueled extravaganza. With each breath of the chilly autumn air Noah took, the small gaggle of party-goers continued on, oblivious to his presence. It wasn’t long until they reached their intended location; a dilapidated apartment complex devoid of working street lights in the heart of the Fens. The walls were heavily adorned with the tags of the Red Devils, and two large, burly Latino men in gang-affiliated bandanas stood guard by the front door of one of the ground floor apartments. Even from so far away, Momentum’s ears rang as the music from inside the two-story projects blared out, the bass no doubt shaking the solemn-looking foundation. Like some sort of paragonesque peeping tom, Noah watched as Don and the two rather intimidating men exchanged friendly greetings just before he and his small entourage entered the building, the brief opening of the door enough to send even louder resonations of obnoxiously loud music into the crisp October air. It looked like this was the right place. â€Not like I was having fun or anything...†Momentum noted sarcastically unto himself, taking a deep breath before descending to street level and beginning his stride towards the brutish gentlemen and their obvious hive of Zombie Powder-riddled shenanigans. The two men scoffed and laughed, unimpressed by the scrawny kid in the hoodie and goofy goggles sauntering their way. They wouldn’t be laughing much longer though. “What ‘chu ‘sposed to be?†the larger of the two men chided, pistols now in plain sight tucked in the front of their waists as Momentum grew closer. The pair of armed thugs seemed unusually calm – almost lucid – in their mannerisms as they halted the boy’s admittance into the loud auditorium beyond the brick apartment complex’s simple hollow-core door. “Maybe you’re here for the ‘party’? Wanna be part of los Diablos Rojos, holmes?†Momentum needed to be quick, the men armed to the teeth with handguns and sporting an intoxicated look in their eyes that made them seem even more intimidating beyond their various Voodoo trinkets gleaming in the florescent light. “Nuh uh.†the spunky little kineticist retorted somberly even as his protective bearer shimmered briefly into existence around his fragile little body, fist aglow with rippling red energy in preparation for the slugfest about to commence, a sense of fear lodged in his voice. This could be his only chance to catch the small apartment complex filled with ZP-dealers with their pants down, and an ample opportunity to reduce the Red Devils’ surplus in the process. There was no room for error. He wouldn’t blow it. He couldn’t blow it, or it might end up too late for some of the party-goers. “I’m here to crash it!â€

He's your NPC, so I'll leave that up to you. Liiieeebniiiz! Yes, but expect lots of poking and prodding, and techies 'undressing' him with their eyes. ;)

You're free to post her walking in and whatnot, but with an Int of 12 and her only Craft or Knowledge being History (and that at +9), she probably be able to contribute much/everyone else may laugh and through baguettes at her. And this is just going to be a social thing (primarily, an excuse for all the brainiacs to meet & greet), I don't plan on having any combat. (Unless the PCs come to brawls over whose Theory of Everything is better ) Supercape's got +10 or better on three different science!knowledges (Behavioal, Life, and Physical), and given his rep, Dok probably wold have sent him (his civilian ID, that is) a personal invite! Whether he comes as Dr. Quill in response to that invite, or as Supercape in response to one of the general invites, is up to you. He would indeed! Same deal with Supercape -- he's smart enough Dok would've sent him a personal invite to his civilian ID, or he could show up in costume in response to one of the public invites.
-
Oh, and your char can come either via personal invite (for folks Dok already knows), or from announcements he posts on some public (or semi-public) genius-centric bulletin boards.

Open to bookworms, dweebs, eggheads, gearheads, geeks, nerds, poindexters, and techies.

Date: August 8th, 2010 (Sunday), approx. 10:00am Highs in the mid-80s, lows in the mid-70s, humidity ~50%, visibility 10 miles, winds S ~10 mph, partly cloudy skies. The last "Brainiacs of Freedom" meeting had gone well, and Doktor Archeville and Ace Danger had decided then to try and make it regular thing. Of course, this was far easier said than done, given the wildly varying schedules, personalities, and temperaments of the people involved. They had managed to get something together for the first anniversary of the meeting, but the day after the invites were sent those pesky Grue invaded and threw everything off. Now, three months later, things had settled down enough that a meeting could take place (and the assorted schools and universities had not yet started their fall semester), though who would actually show was anyone's guess. Rather than hold it at the Emissary's Utopian embassy, Archeville decided to hold it at the Freedom Public Library. The large granite building held enough secluded reading rooms where they could meet and talk in peace without causing too much disturbance to the library's normal functioning, and catering from Chez Henri promised an exquisite brunch to talk over.

It could -- and should -- be a Labyrinth-controlled company, that's releasing critters partly to keep the city's heroes distracted (while they enact other plans), and partly b/c now is a perfect time to be running public combat tests like this (since there's already so many other things out there).

That's what I thought. Please mark that on the sheet somewhere (maybe under the gynoid's Charisma, "28 when piloted by Gina," or something). Noting on the sheet somewhere that the gynoid 'uses' Gina's Int when she's piloting it would be good, too. Other than that, :approved: :science:
