  1. In order to make sure the Refs accurately count all your IC posts and award you the due amount of power points, please post with a list of all the threads in which your player character, NPC or sidekick posted IC this month (including the News forum). Also list any threads which you are GMing. GM posts count as double and can be assigned to whichever of your characters needs a 'push'. This topic will automatically close on the seventh day of the following month (i.e., January 7th, 2021) at Midnight EST. When you make your list, post a link to your first post for the month for each IC thread so we can jump right to it. When you start a thread, make sure IC is the first tag and topic prefix of the In Character thread, and OOC is in the first tag and topic prefix of the Out Of Character thread. It's not required, but additional tags including the major players and locations are viewed as a courtesy. Please list your threads in alphabetical order. Please clearly note any threads in which you are both player and GM/running an NPC. In threads where you are both player and GM/an NPC, please be sure to mark each post so we can tell who it should be allocated to. Please list your threads in a timely manner. Extending the deadline one week into the following month is already a grace period. If you've done any "extracurriculars" -- artwork, HellQ, 20 Questions, NPC, vignettes, guidebook pages, etc. -- please be sure to list them along with your active threads. 2. Protectron "Observation," the magnanimous mechanoid announced, "I have acquired a finer trace on the White Rabbit's signal." It pointed towards one of the antennae on the roof, then down to a window ten floors below it. "There, on the 66th floor, is the source of the broadcast." "We have sufficient numbers to effect a multi-pronged attack. One team approach from above, disable antenna. Second team simultaneously approaches White Rabbit's position from below." It rotated its head around to see the mob assaulting the Emerald Tower's ground entrance, then rotated back to face the others, "if any of you can move with stealth, I may be able to generate a distraction, to focus their attention to the ground level."

  5. Horrorshow "Not my original...," Davyd began, his large chiropteran ears drooping in dejection. But then the rest of Eira's words -- and the unsaid implications thereof -- hit him, and he perked up again, grinning a grin that was a bit too wide and with teeth that were a bit too pointed, "oh, yeah! Yeah!" With the food prep done, he washed his hands, "I'm guessing this is something you would want to discuss, ah, elsewhere?" He ran his cleaned hands through this hair and over his ears, smoothing his features back to his Human Davyd form. He caught a glimpse of Abigail's mood, and made his way towards her. "That's a really cool trick, Abby! Can you just use it only to open a door to places you've been to before? Like, you've got to leave some token where you were, so you can get back to it later?" A recent rant his roommate had gone into regarding save points in video games had him in a certain frame of mind.

  7. What should I roll for Protectron to pinpoint the signal's source? Notice? Search?
  8. Horrorshow Why does she keep talking like... that?, Davyd wondered of his newest squadmate. He hadn't interacted with Natalia much before today, and he knew he should, but her whole attitude. Hold on, now, maybe this is why she was put on Orange Squad: to learn to lighten up! He looked to Natalia as she moved the cup off the scale, "you control gravity, yeah? Seems to me like you don't need any weapons." He nodded slightly, "must take a lot of concentration, though, yeah?" Eira's question drew his attention, wait, did she just... compliment me? He let out a nervous chuckle, "uh, no, not really. I mean, yeah, there are a few pics of me in costume from various plays, or Halloween parties, but that's it. And, yeah," he shrugged, "I know there are a lot of models to've come from Ukraine, but I prefer to work more behind the scenes. Backstage, not on it, yeah?"
  9. Horrorshow "Oh, wow!," he responded to Ryder. "And are they linked together? I know the stories about insects have hive minds, do they have something similar?" He faced each of the four robugs and made a few high-pitched squeaks, and marveled at the sonar-generated images. Davyd shrugged at Eira's question, "that's just the way it works. I want to fly, I need to grow wings. I want to swim, I grow gills. I want the eyesight of an eagle, I get the beak and feathers, too." He set the bowl of grated onions aside, rinsed the grater, then set to work on the potatoes, grating them with the skins still on. "Biology may be messier than robotics," he 'looked' to her and the robugs, "but it gets the job done."
  10. Protectron "I have been unable to track Doormouse's movements," Protectron announced as he set Bill down, "as I am unable to determine his method of transportation. However, I have picked up an anomalous signal, matching that which carried the White Rabbit's message. It is coming from the Riverfront," the mechanoid rotated first its head, then the rest of its body, in that direction. It's eyes flashed briefly, "cross-referencing online maps.... signal coming from Emerald Tower. Researching... Emerald Tower is a recent construction by MarsTech. Access to MarsTech may make White Rabbit more formidable than usual." Its head rotated back around to face Justice, "you have familiarity with MarsTech. Do you have ideas on what we may be facing in there?"
  11. Horrorshow (ft. Artificer) “I still do not see what the point of all this is,” Heroditus huffed. The young Atlantean was walking across the Main Quad of the Claremont Academy, clad in his standard tunic and bandolier, along with a student he had not interacted with much. There was nothing like Halloween down in Atlantis, with its reserved and conservative culture, disdainful of anything different, and while he found the holiday odd and off-putting, his curiosity was winning out. “Why all the costumes? Why pretend to be something you are not?” “So you can find out who you really are, yeah?,” Davyd replied, smiling broadly. The young Ukrainian-American had always enjoyed Halloween, as any good theater kid should, but his metamorphic powers gave him so many new ways to enjoy it. At the moment, he was wearing a tuxedo, white tie & tailcoat, and a black opera cloak with a red lining, though his face remained his own. “Are you a knight, protecting others? A robot, embodying and advancing technology? An agent of liberty, casting a light to guide the tired and poor to safety?” He shifted smoothly as he spoke, to a Russian bogatyr, then a manga-style robot, then to the Statue of Liberty. “Are our choices in costume provocative? A reflection of how we truly see ourselves? Of how we would like others to see us?” More smooth shifts, from the robed Statue of Liberty to a bikini-wearing Statue of Liberty, to a mirror image of Heroditus, then back to his original form. “Or is it just one of many choices, part of a… a quest to find your true self? That may not be what Halloween started as, but it’s beco-” He paused, cleared his throat, “it’s become something mu- mu…” And then a throat-clearing motion went throughout his entire body. Davyd’s metamorphoses, though smooth and flowing, had still unnerved Heroditus somewhat. Shapeshifting was something other creatures did, not Atlanteans, not even Surfacers. He had turned away when Davyd shifted into a copy of himself, and did not see what was happening. But he did hear it, and now turned back, “Davyd? Are you alright?” The Atlatean turned in time to see the metamorph’s body shifting again, though this change was not as smooth as the others. Davyd’s feet had twisted and burst out of his shoes, revealing themselves to be covered in short fur and the toenails had thickened and elongated into nasty claws. His hands were in a similar state, but his face was going through an even greater change. Short fur was sprouting over all of it, the tops of his ears were coming to a point, his nose turned up and darkened, and his lower canines were growing into horrible fangs. Strangled growls escaped his throat, but as Heroditus reached for some device from his bandolier, the growls became more intelligible. “I’m… I’m not… this… is… not… me!” With each defiant shout, Davyd willed himself back from wolf-man to his human form. He steadied himself, hands on his thighs, breathing slowly to dispel the dizziness and mild nausea. “Hoo, haven’t had that happen in a while. I thought I was over those involuntary changes, but-” He turned and saw Heroditus was slowly backing away. He rose to his full height, “hey, hey, it’s okay, yeah? That happens sometimes, but I AAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!” Another spasm, this one intensely painful, brought Dayd to his knees, grasping his head. Heroditus looked on, still drawing components from his bandolier, both fascinated and horrified by the Lemurian magics he could see playing out on his classmate. Davyd thrashed about on the ground, ripping at his clothes, feeling like his entire body was on fire. He could feel the bones of his hands and feet painfully elongating, muscles stretching almost to the point of shredding then rapidly thickening, and long fur sprouting from his back. Claws emerged bloodily from under his nails, spine and shoulders warped, his pelvis and hips changed to something that would allow him to run equally comfortably on two legs or four. His whole form had nearly doubled in size, but perhaps the most horrifying changes were those to his head and face, twisting his features beyond human: the skull partially imploded, while jaw and nose stretched into a canine muzzle, filled with fangs. His ears elongated and came to points, and his eyes shifted to a fiery yellow color. Through it all Davyd could do little more than scream in pain, his scream rising in pitch as his vocal cords stretched before shifting to deep howls. Heroditus, no longer fascinated by the scene before him, had radioed his fellow squadmates for assistance. None responded, as they were either dealing with their own lycanthropes, or had themselves changed and were on a rampage. “I know this is not you, Davyd,” he had assembled one of his transmutational devices, and had aimed it at the ground under and around the shapeshifter, “I can see the foul magics at work on you.” The soil buckled and heaved itself up around him, wrapping his limbs in compressed earth, “hopefully this will hold you until you can fight it off. And I know you can, you did it before. Fight it!”. Lycan!Davyd strained at his bonds, snapping slavering jaws at the Atlantean. He wanted to run, to hunt, to kill… no! No, he was not an animal! Not a monster! He would fight this! Deep in his mind, buried under the rage and horror, Davyd heard his classmate, and struggled against whatever external force was acting on him. His eyes were the first to turn, shifting back to their original gray color. Muzzle and limbs shrank, fangs blunted, shoulder and hips reoriented themselves, fur fell out and turned to ash. He lay there on (and partially under) the ground, able to do little more than pant with exhaustion. “Wha… what’s happening to me?” “You have been affected -- infected -- with some sort of Lemurian curse,” Heroditus replied, still keeping his transmuter active. “I can see it racing all over the campus. Maybe beyond.” He shook his head, dreading the thought. “Your own protean nature seems to aid you in fighting it off, and with what I know of Atlantean mysticism, we may be able to- to… no.” Heroditus stopped mid-sentence, seeing what few others could: the curse, washing over Davyd again. It had been gathering strength, determined to bring this mortal under its power. If someone fought off the curse after it had affected them for a time, that was one thing. But to shake it off before it could even fully take hold? To not be fully unleashed, never run, or hunt? To never wonder if you had attacked someone -- a friend, a loved one -- while under its effect? To never wonder if you had consumed human flesh? To not have all that lingering psychological damage? No, that would not do at all. Davyd barely made any sound this time, too exhausted from the prior changes, though the sounds his body made more than made up for any lack of vocalizations. The curse had failed in changing him, so now it was breaking him down before rebuilding him. He wrenched one arm free from its earthen bond, in time to see the fingers fall off as the flesh from his hand peeled away to reveal a wolf paw. His eyes bulged, blood streaming from the sockets, and then fell from his skull, pushed out by fresh, hungry golden eyes. His teeth, which had elongated and sharpened before, were now being pushed out of his head, as wolf teeth erupted through. More skin split and sloughed off, revealing a furry hide beneath, and his mouth split into a Glasgow grin as a wolf’s muzzle poked out. “Dayvd, fight it!,” Heroditus pleaded, but to no effect. A similar change was happening to Davyd’s mind, breaking down his sapience and leaving behind only the more primitive instincts, which the curse then ramped up to inhuman levels. Wolf!Davyd struggled and thrashed against his earthen bonds, shaking off the gore that had been his human form, until he was free... and facing down the Atlantean. “Davyd? Davyd, fight this! You can fight this!” Davyd was no longer there. Now there was only the Wolf. Not a natural wolf, not even a prehistoric dire wolf, but the horrific archetype. The thing whose howl echoed through dark forests, filling primitive humans (and proto-Atlanteans) with a primal fear as they huddled around their campfires. Amaroq, Cerberus, Fernrir, Marchosias, all variations on this theme, all visible in this giant beast that dominated Claremont’s Main Quad. It lunged at Heroditus.
  12. Horrorshow Davyd had chuckle-groaned at Ryder's preserve pun while attending to the base of the deruny, the potatoes and onions. He'd started with the onions, figuring those would be the most difficult, and his initial attempts had brought about many tears. "Ugh, there's got to be a better way to do this, yeah? Oh! Yeah!" He closed his eyes, which then sealed over, leaving the top half of his face a smooth, featureless blank. His ears then grew, wider and longer, more chiropteran. He made a series of clicking noises, nodded to himself, then continued grating onions into a large metal bowl. He had been trying to ignore Eira & Natalia's interactions, with little success. I really don't want to get into that, but I'd best keep an eye out in case Eira gets in one of her moods. And to see how Natalia reacts. He turned slightly to Ryder & his robugs, hoping it would make his observation less obvious. "Hey, so," he started, still an eyeless bat-thing, "you said you made those? All four of them? Wow!"

  16. Horrorshow Davyd had shrank, slightly but perceptibly, at the responses to his serving suggestion. Maybe mom's right, spending too much time with Uncle Sasha has warped my perceptions. He shook the thoughts of his mother's reactions away, and took a deep breath (re-inflating himself as he did), and looked to Ryder and Natalia, "okay, I get that that was a poorly thought-out remark, and I apologize for any discomfort I caused." He looked down at his notebook, then up again, to no one in particular, "and, uh, as for toppings on the deruny, it's usually something savory, not sweet, or not too sweet. Sour cream is most common, but," he quickly glanced over at Eira, "it could also be a mushroom sauce, or some fruit preserves. Maybe apple jelly, or tomato jam."
  17. Horrorshow "Uncle Sasha told me once about a meeting he went to where they served sushi on top of some models," Davyd said, looking up from his notebook and turning to face Natalia & Eira. "Though, um, I don't think that's, uh, quite what you meant... and I don't think Professor Lynn would allow that, anyway," he gave a quick glance to the instructor. He cocked his head slightly more towards Eira, "vegan's the one that has no animal products of any kind, yeah? No milk, butter, cream, eggs... honey? That...," his voice trailed off into a deflating balloon sound. "Maybe if I... no, no, that won't..." Suddenly, a light went off above his head, literally, as a bioluminescent anglerfish lure emerged, "oh, deruny! Ah, potato pancakes. Just need to figure out a substitute for the egg."
  18. REMOLDED by Fox Horrorshow’s starting his Senior Year, but instead of increasing his PL from 9 to 10, I’ll use most of his 22 23 24 unspent pp to broaden him out a bit. And here's how it would look all together Thanks!
  19. Horrorshow "I know that," Davyd replied to Lulu in an equally low voice, then inclined his head ever so slightly towards Veronica, "but I didn't know if she knows that. And if she didn't, but she had something else in mind already, it could be useful to hear her out." He winked at her before turning his attention back to the group. "Well, looks like we've got a backup driver," he then nodded to Micah, who was still deep in the guts of the engine, "and our mechanic. But what about Liz and me? We can make all sorts of distractions," he smoothly shifted into a double of Veronica, "and feints to throw the racers off, but I don't think that's what you want. I could take the form of a bird or something, to scout ahead," he shifted into a strange man-bird form, "but that's not how you want to win. And if powers are off the table," back to the form of Davyd Palahniuk, "then... well, then I'm just a theater kid. Maybe good for charming some info out of other racers, or making sure the paint job really pops."

  22. Horrorshow "Hey, Benny," Davyd greeted, slapping the pugilist on the bicep before stepping aside so he could get better access to Utsuwa. "If you're looking for someone to spar with, Benny here's one of the best!" The booming laugh of Ryder's associates made Davyd's head turn, faster and further than a normal human's should. He was about to offer help lighten their load -- make a good show for the parents of the new kid, put them at ease -- but then something Pan said snapped his attention back. "Romance? So the rumors I've heard are true? Oh, we must talk later, my friend!" "Davyd! What are you doing? You'll have time to see your friends later, we've got to get you moved in!" The speaker was a woman with short hair, wearing jeans and a white tee, all marred with grease and oil stains that would not quite come out. Behind her, trying to keep up with her determined stride, were two men, one with a full beard and ponytail, wearing brown jeans and a blue tie-dyed shirt, the other balding, with sunglasses and a brown-and-white tracksuit. "I'm going, I'm going!," Davyd protested. He gave a shrug to those around him before heading towards the stairs, giving Micah a high five as he passed by.
  23. Artificer Heroditus scratched his chin as he weighed Danica's words. So unlike most Surfacers, willing to take her time to observe and think things through. I wish she did not feel so discomforted by me and other Atlanteans, I feel she could learn much from my people, and us from her. A small smile started to break across his face, but he quickly caught it and dismissed it with a quick throat-clearing. He looked back to the entrance, then to Danica again. "True, there is no guarantee of that, but what are our alternatives? Standing here, waiting to see if our classmates find us? Trek into the jungle," he gestured towards the wilderness, "in an attempt to find them, and encounter who-knows-what dangers? I do not believe either of us are ready for those hazards. But if there are any traps or other Atlantean hazards down there," he nodded towards the yawning darkness of the temple entrance, "well, those are things I have studied, and know how to deal with. So I feel our chances are better down there."
  24. Horrorshow Davyd did the "quizzical head-tilt" when he first saw the vehicles, but his head kept going and going, rotating around a good 270 degrees before it snapped back. "Well, I'm just a simple city boy," he began, exaggerating his native Freedom-ian accent, "who grew up with access to a robust public transportation system and plentiful pedestrian pathways. So vehicles were never really my thing. Main thing I know about them is that the nicer ones are targeted by chop shops." Seeing Elizabeth take to the truck and Lulu to the mini-cooper, he approached the rover, then turned and leaned against it while addressing the others, "so what's the deal with these? And why us? I'm no mechanic, and," he glanced around, "I don't think anyone here has a driver's license. I know I don't."
  25. Protectron Starting Conditions: 2 HP, Injured (x1). Free Action: Extra Effort to stunt some sort of tracking energy/radio signals off its existing Super-Senses 13 Super-Senses 13 (accurate 2 for radio [radar], extended 2 for radio [2], extended for all vision [2], tracking for radio; danger sense [radio], infravision, microscopic vision, radio, ultravision, uncanny dodge [radio]) [13PP] Standard Action: Attempt (again) to punch Bill, and -- if successful -- follow up with an Improved Grab. Melee attack roll is... another 22! That (should) hit, so Bill will need to make a DC 27 Toughness save. In addition, Protectron will start its own grapple (as a Reaction) against Bill, getting a 44 on the grapple check. End of Round: 2 HP, Injured (x1), will be fatigued at start of next round.
