Top of round 3 now. Electra, roll some initiative for Wander! 12 -- Lady Winter -- Unharmed, shaken -- 1 HP 3 -- Dead Head -- Unharmed -- 2 HP
-
Awww, nuts- That was what flashed through Dead Head's mind as the strange blue woman created a giant hammer of ice in her hands. He was unable to come up with anything really coherent before she'd used said hammer to smash his frozen body to nearly a dozen pieces. Fortunately, he'd seen this coming, and "went loose" so as to scatter as much as possible. And now those dozen or so pieces were rapidly wriggling free from the ice still clinging to them and crawling to rejoin one another. Lady Winter may have missed this sight, though, because as that was going on, the ground all around them heaved and cracked. Bony hands burst out from the graves surrounding them as nearly two dozen skeletons woke and crawled their way up. Points of emerald fire, like the light in the zombie's own eyes, blazed in their eye sockets. Don't hurt her! Jes' hold her! Meanwhile, another soul was about to enter the scene, drawn by Lady Winter's cries, and the all-too-familiar stench of undeath.

Nah, you made your rolls, you're fine. :)
-
Okay, here's one helpful tip: when you make your attack roll, concern yourself only with the numbers that pertain directly to the Attack. In this case, her base Attack number, and the -2 from being Shaken. That's it. Don't worry about modifiers to the target's Defense -- the target's player (or Ref) will worry about those. I'm fine with her changing to Coup de ICE HAMMAH. Still not sure if that should break her Snare, though... Could be a cool visual: she shatters DH, like when Arnie shot the frozen T1000, then the bits wiggle and slither back together to reform DH.
-
Actually, since DH is bound & helpless from the Snare: ... his Defense is 9 vs. Ranged attacks, and 5 vs. attacks made by adjacent opponents. (So the 7 still misses) And for the sake of reference: (Though that won't do much to DH, since he's immune to Crits and Fort save effects ) Also, since he's bound, he gains cover from the Snare. According to the Core book that gives him a +4 bonus to Defense, so his Defense is 13 vs. ranged, 9 vs. melee. (I'd think being bound by a Snare would mean attacks on you hit the Snare first, and have to break through it before having a chance to damage you, but them's the rules as-written.) Lastly, what is the meaning behind all those numbers in your die roll (1D20+2+5-2+2)? I know the +5 is from your Attack, and one of those -2s is from being shaken, but what are those two +2s? (Though this is all kinda academic, since her Blasts cannot hurt him )

William MacDonald "Mac" Paulson = Hillary Norman "Norm" Peterson ;)
-
In another section of the cemetery, Dead Head was experiencing one of the downsides of his ability to see & hear the dead: they knew he could see & hear them, and sometimes would not shut up. Such was the case with William MacDonald "Mac" Paulson, a barfly from the days of the Revolutionary War. [bg=#000000]... and then, after making such a disgraceful scene in my shoppe, he had the audacity to say my paint had ruined his fenceposts! Can you imagine![/bg] "Unh hunh...." [bg=#000000]It was his poor quality wood, it was! My paints were the finest in town! Of course, when I told him of this, he scoffed, and demanded a refund, which I was loathe to give. But, seeing as it was the Reverend's son, I did make some exception for him.[/bg] "Unh hunh...." [bg=#000000]But I knew that word would get out about my largesse, and everyone would blame their shoddy brushwork on my paints. Christian generosity is one thing, but to be poor is no sin, but it is no honor, either![/bg] "Unh hunh...." Dead Head still had yet to figure out why Paulson lingered, even after weeks of hearing him go on and on and on and on and on and.... [bg=#000000]Which brings me to my next point: you are in dire need of better clothing, my friend! Just look at you! Your shoes are nice, I grant, but the cuffs on those pants are far too wide... and what is 'STAR WARS'?[/bg] Dead Head was not exactly thrilled with his current outfit, but when you're as tough on your clothes as he is, your wardrobe comes from the Goodwill reject pile, you don't get a lot of choice. The shirt was okay, but it was three sizes too big; conversely, the bell bottoms were so tight they'd cut off his circulation, if he had any. The shoes were simple brown hush puppies. Suddenly, some movement caught the revenant's eye. Several spirits were going down the hill. He studied them for a moment; they appeared to be drawn, compelled to go down by some subtle call. "Unh hunh.... uh, look, Mister Peterson, I have t'interrupt you, but I gotta go check somethin' out. Ya un'erstand, don'tcha?" [bg=#000000]Oh, well, I-[/bg] "Thanks!," he called back, already several dozen feet away. It was not long before Robin saw her target, though his outfit threw her for a moment. He did not appear to see her.

"Indeed so." Archeville entered a few commands on the range's control panel, and several targets slid into place. "Stationary targets first, later some mobile vons." He took careful aim at Rift with his invention, "Ready vhenever you are."

This time Lady Winter's blast hit the mark, and -- perhaps enhanced by the adrenaline flooding her system -- did better than she'd expected: the zombie was not completely encased in ice, and rooted to the spot! Gotta get out! Can't let her do... whatever... stuff she's gonna do! Hey! Dead folks! Anyone wanna help a fellow deader out? Deep beneath the earth -- six feet under, to be precise -- things began to stir.
-
After some thought, I shall not only not use DH's one HP to re-roll that, I'll take the result and gain an HP for the setback! Using his Accurate Ranged Radius Detect Corpses [Mental] to pinpoint some corpses underneath them. And Animate Objects/Corpses to animate them. Though, lacking the Horde extra, he can only get one at a time. ... he can't get the with Animate Objects 1. *notices he has 9pp unspent* Edit request time!

"Vell, given de two newest additions to de team," he said, nodding towards Dynamo and Fulcrum (and lingering a bit longer on her) from his spot on the ceiling, "I vould say ve can do qvite a bit in von veek." "So," he flipped down to the floor, "more suggestions?"

I believe you'd told me (in chat) June 5th for your "early June" thread, and sometime during the week of June 7th-11th for the Doc/Rycon/KC/Horrible Things thread. That sound right?

"Vhile it is good to see you haff retained a keen foresight" Archeville replied as he adjusted his Electromagnetic Screwdriver, "did you also take into account de systems vhich I haff shielded from elektromagnetic pulses? Or systems I haff vhich do not even use electronic circuits, und are thus wholly unaffected by an EMP?" He smirked at the archer. Soon images were being projected by the techno-wand, first of the interior of the elevator, then of the corridors they'd son be coming to. "Three hallvays, left, right, und center; Knievel und Malice are down de center von. All three have about a dozen com-bots behind barricades, und deir is a heavier blast door shielding dose two. Dere is also a vey, very large robot back dere mit dem."

Dead Head'll protect the hospitals (Option 3), since he's already near one. Doc'll keep doing stuff with AEGIS. (RL issues permitting, of course)
-
My aunt/godmother (who's been struggling with cancer for the past three years; started in her stomach and has spread to many more places) is in the hospital succumbing to a massive infection. She's not expected to last very long, so I'm going to be less active for the next couple of days (at least).
-
"Do not listen to him, Doctor," Archeville advised while removing the last of his bindings, "dis is not your fault! Danks to you, dey only got a fraction of vhat dey vere after!"
-
"Good show, Herr Rift!," Archeville cheered. He had finished work on his device, which looked like a cross between a radar gun and a shotgun microphone; he held it up for a moment in the James Bond pose. "Okay, I believe I am ready for de next round of tests for you." "Haff you ever been to a firing range?" Moments later, they were at one, in the ArcheTech basement.

That does indeed hit. Reflex save vs. Snare, DC 19 (1d20+6=12) Fails by 7, so he would be bound & helpless. Are you anchoring him to the ground? And would that be fully covering his whole body?

Wow... that's the first time someone missed DH (But he is twice her PL) Free Action to switch Array to Fearsome Presence. Move action to advance. Standard Action to use it. Need a Will save from ya. DC is 22. Fail, she's shaken (-2 on attack roll, saves, and checks). Fail by 5 or more (i.e., get a 17 or less), she bolts. Fail by 10 or more (i.e., get a 12 or less), she panics (defend normally, but can't attack; flee as fast as possible or cowers and is dazed if unable to flee) and drops any held objects. Remember you can use an HP to re-roll. Per Kenson, she'll get another save after one minute, then 5 minutes after that, then 20 minutes after that, and so on, with a cumulative +1 bonus on each additional save.
-
The heck? She missed me? Must not be that experienced... which means.... The zombie dodged the ice-blast -- something it probably should not have been able to do, a dim part of her mind told her -- then suddenly stopped about 20 feet from her. This usually only works on low-rankin' goons, but if I can end Glacier's plans without a real fight, so much the better. It glared at her with flaming green eyes, and raised its left arm and pointed at her. Its mouth opened, lips pulling back to reveal badly stained teeth. It began to moan, softly at first then rising in volume to a shriek. "Brrraaaiiinnnsss.... brrraaaiiiinnnsss.... brrraaaiiinnnss!!!"

He's not being particularly stealthy, so no surprise round. Initiative time! initiative (1d20+2=3) ... LW's init modifier is better than that, so you act first.

Dead Head did eventually notice the unnatural cold, when he knelt down to brush some dust off the metal plaque on a grave marker and his fingertips stuck to it. "Well, that jes' ain't right," he mused as he freed and flexed his fingers. He looked around, and saw a blue-skinned blonde in the distance. "Gotta be her doin' this... hey, she looks like that ice guy, Glacier! I bet she's a scout, preparin' some attack!" The Revoltin' Revenant unslung his shovel and dragged it behind as he shambled at full speed towards the intruder. However, if he had chosen a more stealthy approach, she might not have sensed him before he reached her.

"Levitating items is an excellent start on how to expand your abilities!," Archeville exclaimed cheerfully. He began connecting some of the components he had retrieved, and Rift could tell the end result would be something that could both generate and measure sound waves. "Could you give me a demonstration of how you did dat? Say... dose chairs, dere?" He was pointing at the chairs they'd been sitting in.

Gather Information DC 10: Many know of Lantern Jack, the mysterious restless spirit who guards Lantern Hill. But since early October 2009, there's been something else seen patrolling the cemetery. Something just as mysterious, but corporeal. DC 15: It's some sort of revenant, a non-mindless zombie. It's surprisingly personable and talkative, and it claims to have been active all up and down the east coast for about a decade. It likes to be called "Dead Head." DC 20: It's tough -- monstrously tough -- but not in the "blades don't pierce its flesh" the of way. It appears to be as easily damaged as any average, normal person, but damage done to it is repaired at an astonishing rate. It can also separate parts of itself and control them across any distance, contort/dislocate itself so as to fit through most any space, and animate the dead as simple mindless skeletons and zombies. Knowledge (Arcane Lore) DC 10: Zombies are a very basic form of undead, used primarily for simple and repetitive tasks, like turning mill wheels and for guarding areas. Despite what some movies say, zombies can be put down by any sufficiently strong force, not just damage to their brain. DC 15: A revenant is a more advanced form of zombie, one possessing most if not all of its mental faculties. Revenants are created for one specific, complex task or series of tasks, but some revenants arise spontaneously to complete some intensely personal mission left unfinished in life. DC 20: Dead Head sometimes acts like the former, but seems to be the latter. The conditional "seems to be" is because the unfinished business that should be driving him isn't clearly identifiable. Dead Head claims to be "fighting for those who cannot fight for themselves," but such altruistic motives are not the sort that give rise to an undead. DC 25: Dead Head's been active since January 2000. Unknown to the world at large, on New Year's Eve of 1999/2000, Baron Samedi and Malador the Mystic worked on a ritual together, fueled by the heightened anxieties of the populace who feared something horrible was going to happen on "Y2K", to summon some manner of pseudonatural entity into the world. They were stopped by Adrian Eldrich (and by Samedi betraying Malador at a crucial point), but the energies gathered were not completely dispersed, and some made their way south... to where Dead Head was first seen.
