  1. "Ja, I do give dem deir privacy," he replied, his tone an odd mix of conciliation and control. "Dey are not prisoners, or soldiers, dey all chose to live deir, und if nozhing else den out of respect for de choices dey haff made, I accord them vhat 'normalcy' I can." "Avenger implied that he spent the better part of the day here spying on everyone. I find-" "He what?!" Everyone in the room felt the slightest touch of vertigo as space was warped by a wormhole connecting Houston, Texas to the Interceptor's Brownstone. A spiral of blue-gray light appeared by one entranceway, and out of it popped the man Fulcrum had just been talking to. And he looked both surprised and irked. "Dat is not vhat I agreed to! All I vanted him to do vas test de building's security und sensors!"
  2. Peng, now would be a perfect time for Displacer to show up. :)
  3. When she returned to her starting position, she saw Archevile was smiling, and quite giddy. "" he praised, then moved to her side and gently patted her on the back. " ""
  4. I think AA's a bit busy with House of L But I think we're at the point where the next scene would be the heroes arriving at the Island.
  5. Good enough for government work ;)
  6. All but one of her blasts connecting, knocking over the little ducks. Archeville nodded approvingly. "" Archeville reached into one of his lab coat piockets and pulled out a small business card, and handed it to Ashley, "" The Doktor checked his sensors again, then directed Rycon towards a nearby wall. ""
  7. Doktor Archeville "Dere is some preening und posturing, ja, und after vhat ve haff all been through, some relish de chance to let off steam in a place dat is relatively safe from external assault. It is a good place to meet, too; it seems events like dis are de only place some of us can meet." "Some," he reached out and squeezed her hand, and smiled, "but not all." "Besides, if dings get too hairy, I can help. I am, after all, a Doktor," he said with a smirk. "And as for Avengers..." he replied quietly, "... well... he has many of the powers associated with vampires, specifically with the vampires of Bram Stoker's novel. And the few tests I haff been able to run show that his body is, clinically speaking, dead, und yet he moves. However, dere is much I still do not know about his condition, in part because most of mein eqvipment vill not register de existence of de samples he has given me. His inability to be seen in reflective surfaces seems to extend to all mein scanners und sensors. Vhich makes his condition all de more..." He shuddered a bit, his eyes bugged a bit, and a lopsided smile crept onto his face, "... maddening."
  8. Maaaybe... though, to be fair, there will be others trying to punch him out, too. For the record, using Gadgets for
  9. "Vonderful, liebchen, vonderful" he replied, laughing, when she leveled with him. "Und if you are curious, ve are almost exceeding de airspeed of de fastest jet, de SR-71... Black... bird..." Her contented look as she soared through the stratosphere mesmerized him. When she waved and zipped off at 10,000 mph, into the mesosphere, it took even his brain a moment to catch up. Archeville adjusted the E.S., connecting unused portions of it to his Belt. Using the techno-wand as an auxiliary power source and gravitic processor, he was able to safely exceed the Belt's limits and catch up with Fulcrum. "I believe ve haff found your new safe top speed," she heard him say in a very professional tone through her comm, "you energy readings are vhere de vere shortly before your... outburst." His tone shifted back, "you know, liebchen, de ding about haffing me chase you..." she heard, right before she felt his hand brush against her leg, and saw him smiling up at her, "is daught I vill catch you."
  10. "I..." She heard him gulp, "I did agree to pay him a small fee in exchange for testing de security of de Brownstone, ja. Und I did not tell any of dem because, vell, dat vould defeat de purpose of a security test. As for surveillance, vell, ja, de system includes internal cameras und sensors, vhich dey can all monitor. De only cameras in dere are de vons dey can access, dere are no concealed sensors dey do not know about." He held a hand up to the financiers he was meeting with, and took a few steps off to the side. They went back to looking over numbers and debating which directions to go. "I do access dem from time to time from mein own systems, vhen certain alarms go off... but since I own de property und sign de paycheques, I do not feel dat doing so is out of bounds."
  11. Finally saw Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths last night (via Wii-streamed Netflix). This started life as the script for a direct to DVD episode of Justice League that was to bridge the gap between the "Starcrossed" storyline and the beginning of Justice League Unlimited. Overall, I enjoyed it. My only real complaint was Mark Harmon as Superman; every time I heard him I thought of Gibbs from NCIS. James Woods did a great job as the nihilistic Owlman, and Gina Torres and Brian Bloom did quite well as Superwoman and Ultraman. The actual disc comes with a Spectre short; it was up on YouTube but last I checked it had been taken down.
  12. Looks fine to me; I'm happy to provide hooks for others Science, hooooo! :approved:
  13. "" Archeville praised, " Her first blast just missed the target, but the second hit straight on. The third was another solid hit, and the fourth hit the target right between the eyes. The Doktor checked his sensors, and nodded to himself, "" Off to the side was a row of moving wooden ducks, some going by slowly, others zipping past.
  14. "Oh, I will, liebchen," he said to himself, "I do not plan on letting you slip away." Archeville did a half-barrel roll and assumed a more classic flier's position, arms by his sides but slightly flared out. By his estimates, he was at 40% top speed for his Belt, far from any danger of overloading it. Especially when he had a trick up his sleeve that could let him greatly exceed it normal operating parameters. But that would wait, if it was even needed. His reflexes were better than average, but just because he could think and mentally react to things a hundred times faster than normal didn't mean he could physically react to them that quickly. However, his force field was already partly up, to protect him from wind damage and friction heat, and increasing the power was a trivially instinctual matter for him. When she glanced back Fulcrum saw a force field-shrouded Archeville-shaped torpedo cutting through the mini-tidal wave, splitting it into two waves which veered off before dissipating. And now he was over her, looking down with that big silly grin on his face, and motioning her to put her comm to her ear. "Very cute, liebchen," she heard through the device, "but can you do... dis?" The Doktor suddenly turned 90 degrees and headed straight up, at 2,500 mph. Faster than an SR-71 Blackbird. If they kept on that course, they'd be touring the layers of the atmosphere in no time.
  15. Looks that way And Doc never got to see him do anything. So should I post Doc pushing/dragging Finn down through the Secret Door, or do the others arrive before that?
  16. Archeville suddenly appeared under her, about 5 feet below, facing up with his hands behind his head, and flashing a killer smile. "Hello again, liebchen," he called out over the winds whipping around them. "Ve are doing about two-thirds de speed of sound; much faster und ve vill not be able to communicate mitout ozher means! Do you haff your communicator mit you?"
  17. Meanwhile, at an ArcheTech branch in Houston, Texas, Doktor Archeville was attending to assorted crucial but unexciting work of reviewing the annual budget. The new fiscal year was almost upon them, and innovations in outer space environmental & support technologies didn't come cheap. His ringing phone provided a welcome distraction. "Mona!," he greeted her warmly, then suddenly shifted his tone, "is everyding alright?"
  18. Dead Head "Whoa, wait! WAIT!" he pleased before the first kick caved in his ribcage. "Fine, go ahead an' beat me if it'll make ya feel better, bu-" Her second kick actually kicked the Revoltin' Revenant's head clean off, sending it sailing several dozen feet into a nearby open dumpster; the force of the impact caused the lid to slam down. The lights mostly went out in Dead Head's eyes. A close look would reveal they still glowed faintly.
  19. Thanks, Shaen. Toughness saves, DC 32 (1d20+18=26, 1d20+18=22) (no HPs, can't re-roll, so I did 'em both on one line) The 26 fails by 6, giving him an Injury and Stunning him. The 22 (21 now due to the Injury he just took) fails by 11, which on a normal person would be Staggered + Disabled + Stunned. Constructs (like Dead Head) are damaged like inanimate objects, and according to Kenson, a Disabled construct ceases to function (but remains largely intact). "largely intact" = "head kicked off, so he's only in two pieces, and the two pieces are otherwise okay"
  20. Which I did, but I was thinking some Quickness/Rapid would be needed to handle the sheer volume of her death-centric memories.
  21. Dead Head It cried out in pain and anguish -- things it should be inflicting, not feeling, right? -- reeling back and covering its eyes with the heels of its hands. "Jesus, Mary an' Joseph... you... you..." It reeled back more as the memories kept coming, eventually tripping and falling to the ground. His head actually hurt from that. No wonder she lost t when she saw me! It uncovered one eye, propped itself up with its free hand, and looked at Wander. "I am so sorry, girlie, I truly, truly am, sorry fer all yer loss an' sorry fer makin' you relive it all jes' now. Which probably means squat to you, but... well, that, right there, what you went through, is what I spend every wakin' moment I have tryin' t'avert. I aim t'make sure no one else suffers what you went through, an' there's been plenty'a attempts."
  22. New DC Adventures website up, complete with a Designer's Journal to kick things off: http://mutantsandmasterminds.com/dc_adv ... rnal-1.php
  23. Correct; I'd need to add the Subtle PF to it to make it harder (or impossible) for Wander to notice she's being read. (Didn't have enough pps to add some Quickness/Rapid to it )
