  1. Meanwhile, at Lantern Hill... A lone figure sat cross-legged in the darkness, a collection of seemingly random junk strewn about him. Thin hands arranged the components on a large cloth laid out before him, though what they were being made into was a mystery. As would be the being's mental state, if anyone overheard hims speaking. "I know, I know, I heard ya the first time." [bg=#000000]Then you must have heard wrong! The eagle goes on the right side, and it must face to the left![/bg] "Yeah, yeah, on the left, facin' right. And then th' cobra goes here, an-" [bg=#000000]No, not the cobra, the rattlesnake! Oh, you useless bag of bones! If I had legs I'd kick your ass![/bg] The figure looked up from its work and to its side. Emerald flames shone in hollowed eyesockets. "Yeah, but ya don't. An' seein' as how I'm the only one who can help ya, yer stuck with me." The figure turned back and resumed working. [bg=#000000]Don't remind me. Oh, what are you doing now?! The cactus goes under them, not behind them! And you've got it sideways![/bg] "Yer a finicky one, ain't ya?" [bg=#000000]No, I just have a solid artistic vision. But if you're the only one who can help me complete my unfinished business, we'll both be here 'till Doomsday![/bg] "Yeah... unless, a'course, finishin' this up ain't the unfinished business what's keepin' ya here." [bg=#000000]Wh-what? I don't know what you're talking about![/bg] "Un hunh... okay, we'll play it yer way, fer now. I- hold up. You hear that?" Dead Head turned and looked around, and saw a semi-familiar face in the distance. Even from several dozen feet away, he could easily recognize the (reported) daughter of Aphrodite. "Hey, Red!," he greeted as he waved. "What's shakin'? Aside from you, that is?"
  2. Dead Head readies an action to cinematically dive in the way of (i.e., use his Interpose feat) any attacks made by the Green Man or his goons against us fine, upstanding heroes. Oh, and here's a chance for the acting Ref to be devious: Dead Head's shovel is an ordinary, run-of-the-mill piece, like you'd find at a Wal*Mart. Notably, it has a wooden handle. Feel free to have backspalsh from the vine critter/Green Man's mutated limb do horrible things to it ;)
  3. Glad to hear it's nothing terribly serious with the little one. My next few weekends are going to be tied up; my Mom's getting knee replacement surgery, and I'll be her weekend aid. And her 'net connection's not the best, so what online time I can get will be spotty. On the upside, I'll get to see my dog :)
  4. Undisclosed Location Once more The Boss's voice crackled over what Lyn assumed was some sort of concealed intercom. "Be right down." A moment later, the door opened, and in walked Doktor Archeville. Which was a pleasant change from the last time they were there, and Archeville was secretly in the room, when she arrived and hid, testing the latest upgrades to his cloaking system. And he'd even brought her one of her favorite drinks, a Mike's hard lemonade. He sat across from her, and slid the drink over. "I trust your little research assignment vent vell? No particularly bad problems?"
  5. A 21 does indeed hit! I'll go ahead and roll the opposed Grapple Opposed grapple check (1d20+16=36) Goss has a ridiculously high Grapple mod, though, right?
  6. "" the Doktor replied, nodding. His face then broke into a manic grin, "" "" Archeville said as he took it and hung t nearly on a hook on the wall, "" he said as he retrieved his "Electromagnetic Screwdriver" from an inside pocket of his labcoat, "" Archeville made a few adjustments to his gadget, then -- once she was ready -- began slowly waving it over her head.
  7. It's not even that. In the movies, regular vamps get by in sunlight with super-sunscreen; Blade needs none. He's not affected by sunlight, or garlic.
  8. He is; he does not realize just how far her hair can go ;)
  9. What "two bonus points"? Also, Languages are skills, 1pp = 4 skill ranks, or 4 languages.
  10. I believe by "Daywalker" he means something like the titular character from the Blade trilogy of movies.
  11. ... beg pardon?
  12. I know full well how much an improvement 2E was over 1E, but I'm remaining cautiously optimistic until I actually see more on the new system. I'd predict that, if they did follow one of the two D&D paths, they'd hew closer to the changes Pathfinder did than the ones seen in D&D 4E. I'd also expect to see some cribbing from the latest edition of Champions/the HERO System.
  13. playah, did you want to say/do anything, or shall I go on ahead?
  14. That's fine, but it in no way answers my question re: who did the procedure on Ashley in the first place ;)
  15. Divine vs. Carbon (the divine vs. the material)? Jack of All Blades vs. Carbon (energy vs. matter)? Gossamer vs. Wesley (tentacles vs. tentacles)?
  16. Idea: the procedure done on Ashley was based (wholly or in part) on research done by Herr Doktor Verrill Herman Archeville, the grandfather of the current Dr. Archeville (and a Nazi).
  17. " "" The Doktor tapped his chin with the stylus, going through all the procedures and treatments he would have done to cure Ashley of her original problem, then focused on which of those would give her electrical abilities as a side-effect. "
  18. "Spontaneous manifestation of metahuman abilities is most common during times of stress, as are changes to existing abilities," the Doktor explained, "dat is vhy so many first-time manifestations occur during puberty or vhen exposed to some extreme hazard. Dere is consderable debate in de scientific community as to how dey interplay: how much of a Metahuman's abilities are due to de trigger, und how much are due to deir own unique genetic code? Do powers manifest at random, or is deir some sort of 'defense mechanism' at vork dat kicks in to generate de abilities needed to overcome de triggering catalyst? Und so on." Archeville was almost done with the belt design when he found she had practically draped herself over him. Which, given that she was almost two and a half feet taller than him, was another display of her own limberness. "I prefer 'rock star' to 'heart throb'," he replied in his best 'Bad Boy' tone, then turned in her arms to face her. His eyes locked to hers, and she could sense something quite primal there. "Und I vonder just vhat it vas you found vhen you 'Googled' me. Clips of me partying vildly at Oktoberest? Or racing in de Monaco Grand Prix? Or did dose clips of me at de nude bath house get loose again?"
  19. And here is what the posters at the ATT have to say.
  20. Un-archived and restored to NPC-dom.
  21. Nah, we're just lazy. *works*
  22. Who are you trying to Fascinate? The auto-turrets, or the trashcan-bots?
  23. Yeah, we're all still free -- nay, encouraged -- to keep up the Tropes page (and snare more players!).
  24. I believe every character here hits their Defense/Toughness caps; most hit their Attack/Damage (or Attack/Effect) caps. There are a few other melee-focused chars here, so you would be in good company. Not having a ranged attack will be a hindrance in some cases, but not having one doesn't mean your character's useless; Flash, Hulk and Wolverine have gotten by fine without such for decades.
