Sand? Still with us?

Languages are skills, not feats. And since Rycon has no free points, you'll need to drop 1 rank in one skill if you want to know another language.

Okay, quick recap Power Corp leader's readied an action to shoot Doc in the face if he sees you try anything. He did not see Goss sneaking a tendril of hair towards him, nor did he see her attempted attack on him with said hair (it missed). She tried distracting him with talking, but he does see through that. He blasts up, and plans to leave. Blast 9 (DC 24) vs. Toughness 5 walls (er, ceilings/roofs). Take 10 on Toughness save for the objects = 15. That fails by 9, putting it as "Injured" (-1 to further Toughness saves). Extra Effort to SURGE and gain another standard action, to blast the ceiling again. GM Fiat to nix the fatigue; Gossamer get another HP. Move action to fly up & away; standard to punch through the blast-weakened ceiling on the way out. Same damage from ramming, the damage it's already taken means it fails the save by 10, enough to make the ceilings "disabled" and for him to break through. All is not as it appears, though, as explained in the IC thread ;)

"Oh, the beauty distracts the blackguard so she can stall for time, giving her a chance to think of a way to save her brave knight?," he mocked. "Sorry, I don't think so!" Keeping the one gauntlet-blaster trained on Archeville, he raised his other hand and blasted straight up. A bolt of energy plowed through the ceiling and up through the rest of the beach house. His boot jet then kicked in, and he flew straight up, ramming the ceiling shoulder-first and breaking through, up and through the rest of the building. Bits of flooring and ceiling tile collapsed in, some coming dangerously close to Archeville. There was something not quite right here, though: he wasn't running, not exactly. She'd seen how fast they could go, when they first showed up and nabbed the Doktor, but he left at a fraction of normal power. Was his suit drained from the earlier confrontation? Did they cannibalize parts to set all this up? Or was he pulling another feint?

"Of course, sir. If you'll just have a seat over there," the receptionist nodded towards some padded chairs near one window, "while we get a room set up for you." A few moments later, the receptionist called Rycon back over, "he'll meet you in room 325. That's on the third floor. Take this," she instructed as she handed over a laminated visitor's pass, attached to a lanyard so it could be worn around the neck, "and go to the elevators down the hall, there," she pointed to the two hallways branching off behind the reception desk. "When you get there, there'll be signs indicating which way you should go; the signs are keyed to the visitor's pass, so don't lose it!" "Have a nice day!," she chirped as she waved Rycon on. The elevator ride was very smooth, and the "signs" the receptionist had mentioned were glowing arrows that appeared on the floor and walls as Rycon stepped off. They lead her to a small waiting room, not very different from one seen in a regular doctor's office. After a few moments more of waiting, the man she'd come to see appeared at the doorway. "" he said warmly (and in German), offering his hand to shake, "

"Avenger's behind this, I knew it!"

On the helicopter ride over, Archeville was glued to the window, drinking in all the scenes of destruction and chaos. "Dere is certainly more dan just giant monsters attacking, Herr Danger," he said in response to Ace's musings/jibes. "For von, de fact dat dere are so many of sem: mit most kaiju attacks, dere is only von, maybe two or three, but Freedom is being attacked by a dozen of sem now. Are diese refugees from Kaiju Island, someding de Terra King brought up from Sub-Terra, or someding else?"

Is Rycon in her Rycon outfit, or in "civilian" clothing? Should the receptionist be saying "one moment, sir," or "one moment, miss"? ;)

Date: May 5th, 2010 (a Wednesday) Low 51, high 79. Clear skies. More here. Doktor Viktor Archeville was slightly irritated. He knew that he had enemies, and he knew they'd come after him, and his company. Everyone who worked at ArcheTech knew that, too -- he made it a point to emphasize the potential hazards of working there, but all who did so felt the benefits outweighed the risks; all of them were extremely dedicated to their fields. But he hadn't expected Dracula to attack! Days later, and clean up was still being carried out, though all the public areas were cleared; appearances had to be kept up. It was while overseeing the implementation of several new rat-catching robots that he received word of a visitor from his past.

Brain's still on Enhanced Cha, so his Sense Motive is only +10. Sense Motive vs. The Finn (1d20+10=29) [Kool Aid Man] Oh yeah! [/Kool Aid Man]

Beginner's Luck (and an HP) to get 5 ranks of Intimidate, bringing his total Intimidate modifier to +12. Intimidate check (1d20+12=15) Use another HP to re-roll that: Intimidate check; HP re-roll (1d20+12=30) Much better

When "The Finn" sat and flipped that switch, Archeville glanced down at the wondrous techno-wand in his labcoat's inner pocket. The Doktor looked to the taxi driver, then to the store's owner. "You haff already told me much, Herr Finn, merely by allowing me into dis shoppe. De layer of dust on your merchandise, as vell as its generally grimy condition, tells me you are not a very successful pawnbroker. Und yet, you are able to afford a fairly potent communications blocker, von dat vould render any bugs or listening devices inoperative. Vhich tells me you do have a steady source of income, von you do not vant certain people to know of. Und it probably involves vhatever is under dat concealed door over dere," he finished, pointing to a small not-as-cluttered spot. "Now, I see two options for you, Herr Finn. You can either tell me everything you know about de recent string of heists involving ultra-technology, de theft of de spacecraft components from Star Island, und of vhat appeared to be de DA stealing samples of Fear Master's gases und Luna Moth's pheromones from an evidence locker..." Archeville had been inching closer to the Finn, and was now practically looming over him. "... or ve find out just mad dis scientist can get. I saw a 1976 Magnavox console in de back; did you know de cathode ray tubes on dose old sets can be used to make a fairly potent energy veapon?"

[Interceptors] Zombie Powder is a Helluva Drug [IC]
Dr Archeville replied to Dr Archeville's topic in West End
Son the trio return to the not-quite-secret headquarters, assorted evidence in hand. The first one to enter the brownstone triggers the appearance of Vince, dressed -- for some reason -- like Mrs. Doubtfire, and holding a tray of fresh-from-the-oven cookies. Archeville said something a few days ago about upgrading Vince's projections to have olfactory components, but such adjustments have not yet been made. "Welcome home, my little lambs! How was the patrolling? Did you stop those dreadful gangbangers?" -
Dead Men Do Tell Tales (IC)
Dr Archeville replied to Avenger Assembled's topic in The Theatre District
Dead Head laughed again, "Endin'?! Near as I can figure, I cain't end! Y'know how havin' yer head lopped off is th' surest way t'put down a zombie -- or, for the matter, a vampire? Well, that don't work on me! Nothin' does! I been through just about e'ry punishment imaginable, an' I keep comin' back!" "An' that's jes fine by me, 'cuz there's a whole lot in this world I wanna see, an' so many people I can help. Yeah, I was grim an' broodin' when I first got changed, but after a few years, I learned t'let go'a all that anger an' grief, an' use my energy t'help people, an' t'jes enjoy mah existence." "Whoa, back up a sec: Daedalus an' Scarab are immortals?" -
"Und now dis defense is in de hands of de Tyranny Syndicate's Daedalus," the Doktor replied with a sneer. "Und I am betting dat even mitout dis component, dey can still do much mit de system it vould be tied to. Looks like ve go to Star Island next!"
-
"Well, I knew he wouldn't be killed by bein' trapped down here with me," Dead Head mused, "or even seriously hurt. But I do feel kinda dumb fer forgettin' he could just melt away into th' shadows like that." "But, at least I got 'em out. An' as for y'all," he nodded towards the thousands of gathered corpses, "well, looks like we'll be down here a while, so we all might as well get t'know each other. First off, lemme say how sorry I am that Samedi & his crew got to y'all, and did who-knows-what to yer remains; I'm doubly sorry if'n they did anythin' t'yer spirits. An' I'm sorry that it appears this cave in's gonna crush yer remains, though y'all can take some comfort in knowin' that y'all won't be comin' back as monsters under Samedi's control, won't be hurtin' any-" A long and jagged chunk of rock split off from the ceiling and impaled Dead Head in the left shoulder. He looked at is with a slightly irked expression. "Dangit, I just got this jacket!"

Containment Means Never Having To Say KABOOM! (IC)
Dr Archeville replied to Dariusprime's topic in Hanover
"Ha! Take dat, Entropy!" "I am razher glad dat vorked!," the Doktor exclaimed as he zipped over to the domed (but not, for the moment, doomed) Fulcrum. "Mein next plan vould haff been to carry you a few miles up, avay from de city!" Archeville examined the dome, murmuring to himself here and there as he looked over its function. The prismatic beams continued to wash over Fulcrum, though now they were not quite as intense. "If you do not mind, I vould like to keep you dere for a minute or so more, to make sure you do not 'overload' again." He placed one hand against the side of the dome, near her, and looked at her with a mix of concern and wonder. "How are you feeling? Has dis ever happened to you before?" -
