Artificer's Notice check: 10 Knowledge (Arcane Lore) check: 29 Knowledge (History) check: 12

Artificer Reliable teleportation effects were something Heroditus hoped to crack one day. Pre-Sinking, Atlanteans had numerous techniques for instantaneously moving not just to any place on Earth, but beyond, to other planets and other dimensions. As was so often the case, though, many of those devices were lost in the Sinking, as were those who had the knowledge to recreate them. And the first few centuries after that were devoted to mere survival, and even more things were forgotten. So for all the weirdness this young member of the Stylianos clan had experienced in his short life, he had never been subjected to a teleportation effect before now. The experience was astounding, made moreso by the alterations to his eyes which allowed him to see magical energies. That it had become unstable over millennia of neglect also added to the effect, translated in his mind as kaleidoscopic explosions of light. When it was over -- mere seconds, though it felt like hours -- he had to brace himself from buckling over, placing hands on knees and breathing heavily. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH He was able to recompose himself after a few moments, when he began to realize how much warmer and more humid his surroundings were. He saw the jungle, and Danica, and at last the structure before them, which he just barely recognized. "That is... that... that is At... Atlantean. Wh-... how? Where?"

Okay, Artificer's got Blast 5 with enough Accurate to get him to +11 on the attack roll, Improved Critical (19-20), and Variable Descriptor 2 (which he's setting to "saltwater"). Gonna up his accuracy a bit more by using the free Accurate Attack "maneuver," so that'll by +13 to hit with a Blast 3 effect. And my roll is... 19 (total). Think I'll go ahead and use his 1 HP to re-roll that. And get a... 28 total.

Sorry, was out getting up to all sorts of debauchery yesterday for my birthday! Okay, spending an HP to shake off dazed condition, and will attempt to convince Not!Danica to help us against Not!Leroy. Diplomacy check? Diplomacy check = 12 Oof

Horrorshow I really wish I knew what this Archer guy looked and sounded like, this one might listen to him. I just hope the other one's more receptive. Mentally chiding himself for his ignorance, Davyd turned to Not!Danica, still with his children's show host face & voice. "Oh, so you were both desynchronized? Were you desynchronized from the same program? Are you two halves of the same whole? It's funny how two sides of a thing, like a coin, can be very different. Or were you separate even before that? If we got him back together with his other parts, re-synchronized him, would that settle him down? I don't want to hurt anyone, and I know my friends don't want to," a few extra eyes sprouted along his body, allowing him to keep tabs on his classmates, "and I'm sure you don't want to see any of us hurt. So, can you help us resynchronize him? It'd be very neighborly of you."

Protectron "Please, remain calm and have some tea," the robot announced in its precise yet flat electronic tone. It marched inexorably along with the crowd, continuing its attempts to distract them, and searching online for any references to the man seen on the broadcasts earlier. Little useful information was found at first -- lots of hits for steampunk conventions, Jefferson Airplane songs, and assorted psychedelia -- but eventually it was able to winnow through that and focus on criminal reports. The first several it found were focused on White Rabbit's accomplices and their group activities. And it was at about that time that the group reached Yellow Brick Row, and the Magnanimous Mechanoid saw two of White Rabbit's associates! "Bill the Lizard! Doormouse!," it announced, "cease your criminal activities immediately, and have White Rabbit undo his influence upon these innocent people."

Artificer Heroditus nodded at Leon's suggestion, and began searching for the things he had suggested. "My understanding is that power -- electricity -- flows along conduits, like many other forms of energy. Some of those channels are rugged, to withstand the great forces channeled through them," he felt along the floor, "while others are very intricate, delicate, and easy to disrupt. And that water -- particularly saltwater -- does a very good job at disrupting such devices." He checked along the sides of the machines, casting a curious look Leon's way, "so if you cannot stop this by working within its operating parameters, I believe we can easily bring forth some more destructive means of stopping this. Which would take longer to repair, but," something caught his eye, and he moved towards it, "our classmates are in danger, so we must do what we can to help."

Search check to find fuse box/access hatch/power cables/etc.: 30 (a nat 20!) Knowledge (Technology) check to figure out how to safely disconnect the power supply: 20, minus whatever penalties he'd have for working with crazy Surfacer tech. (He may just blast it.)

In order to make sure the Refs accurately count all your IC posts and award you the due amount of power points, please post with a list of all the threads in which your player character, NPC or sidekick posted IC this month (including the News forum). Also list any threads which you are GMing. GM posts count as double and can be assigned to whichever of your characters needs a 'push'. This topic will automatically close on the seventh day of the following month (i.e., July 7th, 2020) at Midnight EST. When you make your list, post a link to your first post for the month for each IC thread so we can jump right to it. When you start a thread, make sure IC is the first tag and topic prefix of the In Character thread, and OOC is in the first tag and topic prefix of the Out Of Character thread. It's not required, but additional tags including the major players and locations are viewed as a courtesy. Please list your threads in alphabetical order. Please clearly note any threads in which you are both player and GM/running an NPC. In threads where you are both player and GM/an NPC, please be sure to mark each post so we can tell who it should be allocated to. Please list your threads in a timely manner. Extending the deadline one week into the following month is already a grace period. If you've done any "extracurriculars" -- artwork, HellQ, 20 Questions, NPC, vignettes, guidebook pages, etc. -- please be sure to list them along with your active threads. For more information on ways to earn power points, see Character Advancement and Awards in the House Rules section of the Guide. Post counts should be formatted similar to the following: To make clear how many posts from rollover and GM posts are assigned to each character. Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in your shoes being filled with slugs post counts being postponed or skipped completely. If you missed the deadline, see this thread.

Protectron One of Emerald City's newest transplants was walking around The Cannery Marketplace's two-story Rotunda, moving among the assorted farm stands and fish stalls. It rarely stopped moving, scanning all available items as it passed slowly through the area. Most bystanders weren't sure what to make of the gold & chrome robot with an emerald green cape, and kept their distance, though several took pictures or video. Occasionally it would talk to one of the vendors, politely introducing itself and asking questions about the growing conditions for some item of produce, or the methods of capture used for the seafood. Suddenly, a commotion! People reacting to the White Rabbit's broadcast on their smartphones, on small radios at the stands, on tvs in the hole-in-the-wall shops. Even in Protectron's mind! The golden guardian faltered in its steps as it dealt with the broadcast. The mighty machine's optics dimmed, and it was still as a statue. Moments passed as chaos erupted around it, as customers, vendors, and the Market itself all succumbed to the White Rabbit's power. Then, just as abruptly, the robot's optics flared back on, and it quickly looked around at its surroundings and judged what it must do. "Please remain calm," it announced. "Authorities are being contacted, and will be here soon to render aid." Protectron was indeed sending out a radio signal on police bands requesting aid, but was unsure if the message was getting through the White Rabbit's interference. Which meant Protectron had to secure things here for the moment. Fortunately, it came equipped with a matter replicator, and so began producing something it hoped would work with the command to distract them, (biodegradable) paper cups of "Tea here! Come get your tea! With cream, lemon, or sugar! Tea here!"

Artificer Heroditus had learned much of Surfacer technology, but still had much, much more to learn. Computers were one area in which he had a particular ignorance, as Atlantis had few things comparable to those (and those they did have were room-sized monstrosities, roughly comparable to Surface computers of the early 1950s). "<I cannot believe it, but I actually wish OctoBen were here,>" Heroditus muttered to himself in the click- and pop-accented language of Atlantis. Then, in English, "reluctant as I am to admit it, I must confess I may not be of much use against the Doom Room's elektronic systems, though I should be able to help get us to them. Are any of you particularly skilled with computers?," he asked, looking around. "As for getting there, I would suggest taking the stairs, as the Doom Room should not be able to influence anything there. And if it did somehow send any... agents there, they should not be as powerful as those within the Doom Room itself."

Horrorshow Ah. I see I have once again leaped before looking. Well, in for a penny, in for a pound. And maybe I can de-escalate things before Micah lights up the room like a Christmas tree. "I don't see how I can handle you," Davyd continued, (mostly) undaunted, keeping his smile and tone as amiable as a children's show host, "since you're made of light and electricity. But that's okay, because we're all different, we're all unique. There's no one else like you in this world, and no one else like her," he nodded to Not!Danica, "and no one else like him, or her, or him," gesturing to Pan, Eira, then Micah. "Mistakes have been made, and no one is perfect, but we always have the chance to bring what’s unique about us to life in a redeeming way." He stretched up to be eye level with Not!SunDragon, "as sapient beings, our duty -- and joy -- in life is to help others realize how rare and valuable each one of us really is, that each of us has something that no one else has or ever will have. Something inside, that is unique in all of space and time. It’s our job, and our privilege, to encourage each other to discover that uniqueness and to provide ways of developing its expression.”

Horrorshow Davyd spat out a Ukrainian word he'd heard uncle Sasha use a few times when things didn't go his way as his arms passed through Not!Danica, then brought one hand up to shield his eyes from Micah's light show. But then he heard what Not!Danica and Not!Sun Dragon were saying, and something in his head -- the part that was a sci fi junkie -- clicked. "I think I know what's going on here," he said softly, to no one in particular, "and I think I know what to do." He then took a few looong steps towards the two, shifting his outfit into grey slacks and a dark green cardigan zipper sweater over a light blue dress shirt. "Hello, friends," he addressed the two images, in a calm voice reminiscent of a children's show host. "My, but there's been a lot of excitement here, hasn't there? And you two sure have made a big impression! But now it might be best if we used our words. You've both been inside the Doom Room for some time, right? And you," he pivoted to Not!Danica, "you wanted to get out, and introduce yourself to all these wonderful students, yes? To interact with us, the way another student would? Everyone was certainly glad to see their friend Danica -- but maybe they'd be more glad to see what you look like, so they could meet their new friend! And you," he twisted to face Not!SunDragon, "you had been... abandoned here? By Mister Archer? I know it can be tough when it looks like a grown-up has abandoned you, but I'm sure that's not what happened. I bet this was all a nasty misunderstanding. And I bet that if we brought Mister Archer here, we could all talk things out, and realize this was all a mistake. And, more importantly, we can work together to fix that mistake. Because that," he looked back and forth between the two, "is what good communication can do -- it can show us the truth, and how to solve our problems."

Artificer "Eira may have been knocked out," Heroditus offered, "either by the Doom Room, or by whoever is behind this. It would be a sound strategy, taking out the ones most likely to counter whatever is being done to the Doom Room. Or worse, she may have been subsumed as well, and we may have to fight off her and the Room." If anyone was unnerved by his comments, he did not notice. He did try putting some warmth into his voice -- he did consider Eira an ally, if not quite a friend, and he knew others in the DR would be in danger -- but that Atlantean coldness never completely left his voice. His attention was on a flat crystal pane set into a leathery frame, about the size of an ebook reader, and scrolling through holographic images of the school. "I should have some maps and blueprints of the school here, if so I may be able to find an alternate way inside. A ventilation shaft or the like."

Horrorshow Davyd's head swung around the Doom Room on his elongated neck, looking for signs of... well, he wasn't really sure, so he just tried to take everything in. "Hunh, so those three are banging on the walls... those folks are playing hacky sack with the hors d'oeuvres... that one's blasting the floor... Eira's speaking in Swedish... wait, Eira! And Pan!" He swung his head over to them, bringing his body closer to the two. Then he saw Danica and Elizabeth, Kam and Robin (wait, didn't she graduate already?), and the growing row among them. "This isn't really Danica?," he asked the group, then looked directly at her. His arms shot out like striking serpents, wrapping around the impostor, "where's our friend? And who are you?"

Horrorshow -- who's got his Shapeshift set to Elongation 4 (50 ft.) as he rubbernecks around -- is going to try to grapple Not!Danica! Melee Attack Roll 1d20+9: 10 [1d20=1] Oof! Nat 1! Okay, using my 1 HP to reroll that. Melee Attack (Re-)Roll 1d20+9: 16 [1d20=7] Ah, but because it's a re-roll, that 7 becomes a 17, so that's a 26 total! Now for the Grapple check, with a +4 bonus from Elongation 1d20+17: 22 [1d20=5] Oof, the Dice Deities are not with me tonight.

Horrorshow "There are a few illusionists here, who could do something similar" Davyd replied to Callie, trying not to look Lulu's way, "but I don't believe there are any other true shapeshifters. At least," he shrank a few inches as he smoothly morphed into Callie's double, "none who are as good at this as I am. In fact, I've even started working with," he shrank a tiny bit more as he now mimicked Tabitha's shiny chrome form, "a few other heroes, as part of 'Body Doubles,' a partnership that can provide that 'two places at once' service, to help cover for other heroes, or for," he shot up a few inches as he began mimicking Leon, "celebrities or politicians who've received death threats. I, ah, haven't actually done any of that yet, since I'm still learning how to use my powers," he shifted back to his original form, "but that's part of what we're here for: not just how to use our abilities, but when and where and why to use them."
