  1. Penetrating wouldn't factor, since none of the structure is Impervious. (That is an idea for later, though.) Jack's Corrosion will reduce the object's toughness by 5, then it'll face a DC 22 Toughness save. vs. Toughness 20, that reduces to Toughness 15. Take 10 = 25, which still beats. Do it again, reduce Toughness to 10, Take 10 = 20, fails by 2, it's "injured". Slash a third time, reduce Toughness to 5, Take 10 = 14 (including the -1 from "injured), fails by 8, it's "injured" again Slash a fourth time, reduce Toughness to 0, Take 10 = 8 (including the -2 from the two "injured"), failing by 14. That makes it "disabled," and a hair's breath from "dying." vs. Toughness 15, skip the first step and it's all the same. Flurry of Jacks is DC 34. vs. Toughness 20, Take 10 = 30. Fails by 4, it's "injured." Do it again, Take 10 = 29 (including -1 from "injury"). Fails by 5, another injury. Do it five more times (seven flurries total), it'll fail by 10, making it "disabled." vs. Toughness 15, Take 10 = 25. Fails by 9, it's "injured." Do it again, Take 10 = 24 (-1 from "injury"). Fails by 10, it's "disabled."
  2. Archeville nodded along with Jack's they-know-we-know-they-know bit. When Sarah introduced herself, he place a hand on her shoulder. "Dat is useful, certainly, und if Malice is in dere, he has probably set up teleport denial areas dat I cannot just teleport in to. He may haff a vide-spectrum teleport denial system in place, dough, so your ability may not vork, either. I vould propose ve test it first, but I do not vish you to go into an unknown und potentially very hazardous situation." The Doktor manipulated the controls on his ultra-tech wand again, and a holographic image of the building's schematics appeared. "Phalanx, can you-" he asked before seeing that the teen titan was already on the main door. He turned back to the hologram, and motioned the others over to look on, "some of dem are probably held up in de second sub-basement, dere. Dat is vhere much of de heavy-duty testing occurs, as vell as housing for de servers mit data on various projekts. De tech dey could use against us, or simply steal to sell it -- und my research -- on de black market for other villains to use und abuse. If ve are lucky some of mein override codes vill still vork to get us through de corridors, but I am not counting on dat. Moira," he glanced up to her, "I believe it vould be vest if you serve as point, drawing fire -- und attention -- from our foes. Jack, your senses vill be vital, pinpointing any power surges dat vould give avay deir position; you haff faced Knievel before, so you should recognize de energy signature of his veapons system. Sarah... " Archeville looked at her for a moment. "I know nutzing of you, aside from vhat you just told us. I assume you are proficient mit de use of dat blade, vhat else can you bring?"
  3. Ah, glad I missed something! And I'm working on a "piping up" post now ;)
  4. "Injured" = fails Toughness save "Disabled" = fails by 10 or more "Dying" = fails by 15 or more The toughest parts of an ArcheTech facility are Toughness 20. Phalanx can punch for +15 damage, or a DC 30 save. Take 10 on the Toughness save gets a 30. It's just strong enough that he can't even dent it! (Unless he uses Extra Effort, and even then it'll just be enough to "Injure" it.) Most of the building is Toughness 15, though. Take 10 = 25 Fails by 5, that's an Injury, and a -1 to Toughness. After five punches, Toughness is reduced to 10. A sixth punch makes it "disabled." The toughest parts of an ArcheTech facility are Toughness 20. Phalanx can take a full round to attack it, and do a mighty (assuming he's using full Enhanced Str and Super-Str) +24 damage. Take 5 on the Toughness save gets a 25. Which'd mean Phalanx isn't strong enough to break through! Unless he uses Extra Effort (Which actually makes Doc pleased, as he doesn't like to see his stuff get broken. But he hates seeing his stuff stolen even more. ) Most of the building is Toughness 15, though. Take 5 = 20. Phalanx could break that. After a second round, it's completely destroyed.
  5. This is before my most recent upgrades for Doc, so his Gadget's only at rank 1, but that's enough to add Progression 1 (to carry Lukos' weight, as he's just under 200 lbs.) and Accurate to 4 ranks of the Teleport (400 feet/1 mile). It may take two hops, but he can get them to some tasty foods ;)
  6. The Doktor took what looked like a high-tech magic wand from his labcoat pocket, and pressed a few tiny buttons on it. He then pulled his coat back a bit to access his belt, which was covered in blue lights and lines. He slid back a small metal panel on the belt, pulled a thin cable out from it, and connected it to one end of the wand. "Now I can take us both," he replied, holding the wand in one hand and reaching out for Thomas' shoulder with the other. He paused, "Er, I do haff to be touching you to bring you along. Is dat alright?"
  7. And disgustingly freaky, since the descriptor for DH's high Toughness & Imp Toughness isn't toughness per se, it's near-instantaneous regeneration. Like when the feral, Adamantium-less Wolverine ran off Xavier's compound and was run over by an 18-wheeler; the cab running over him broke his ribs, but they all healed back in time to be whole again by the time the rear wheels of the trailer ran over him. Basically, imagine what it'd look like if Deadpool were the one the Rhino-Mole plowed through. Lots of bones breaking and such, but they heal back just as fast.
  8. He already said "No!" ;)
  9. "Ja, it is," the Doktor replied to Jack's concern about his Gadget, "but dat vas den, und dis is now. Dark Star's radiations can heal or harm, as can de lights of Lady Liberty; dis vorks de same vay." Phalanx's report concerned him. "I did design de place, und de robots und other defenses," Archeville replied, "but Knievel vouldn't be able to get dose all to obey him. Dat vould take someone mit more technical know-how... vhich makes it qvite likely dat Malice is down dere, too. Und if he is, he is probably going to activate all manner of prototypes und other untested measures in dere, so de usually non-lethal deterrents could be turned into qvite a nasty gauntlet for us." "As for de earpiece," he went on, tentatively nudging it with his boot, "it could be dat von of us is to vear it, und Knievel vill give us a guided tour through de building, pointing out all de traps he und Malice haff set und taunting us with all de horrible dings dey vill do, und dat ve are powerless to stop dem. Dere are, of course, several people inside, und vhile dey are probably safe in de panic rooms, dey are nonedeless hostages. It is possible I could use it to backtrack deir communications signal und use it to pinpoint de location of anyvon else vearing von of dese... but Malice vould surely have dought of dat, und rigged it to lead us on false trails. But surely dere is... hrrmmm...."
  10. I was going to wait until Friday to post this, but people are crying for my head now. *ahem* APRIL FOOL'S! The deadline is really the last day of the month, the 30th, just like every other Vignette.
  11. Very nicely done!
  12. Zak likely did not notice that, through the entire conversation, Dead Head had a big smile on his face. Not just his rictus grin, but a true, warm smile. Reunions like this were what he lived - er, existed - for, the chance to help others. To help the living exchange final works with a loved one taken too soon, and help the dead make their final words and wishes known. When the two were done, Dead Head's smile faded a bit. He'd helped these two have just about the best reunion they could ask for, but he knew it must end, as (almost) all things do, and endings were always a bit sad. He placed his left hand behind the elder's head and eased him back down onto the cold metal drawer. His right passed over the mentor's face, and the glow began to fade from his eyes. "Close yer eyes, an' count to seven. When you wake, you'll in be in Heaven." He had no idea if that was actually true or not -- even he didn't know exactly where spirits went when they were done with their unfinished business -- but it seemed comforting, for both Physicus the elder and Physicus the younger. And that was that. The elder Physicus' remains were as cold and still as they had been when they'd arrived. Dead Head gently pushed the drawer back into the hole in the wall, then closed and latched the door. "You okay?," he asked, turning to face Zak. "I know this can be weird fer folks...."
  13. They're all balloons!
  14. Anything more for here, or is this done?
  15. Okay, this is either going to be really cool, or really horrible. Or both. Extra Effort to stunt a big teleport effect off his own Necromantic Power array to get everyone out. I believe at the time this is happening his Array was only rank 5, so he'd have 10pp to work with: That area should be big enough to get everyone. He'll teleport Atlas, Avenger, and Phantom up to ground level, leaving himself, Samedi and the Shadow Mastiffs under the crumbling sewers/cave. And hope the thing collapses soon to crush everything. Unreliable Teleport; 1-10 it doesn't work (1d20=10) ... of course. HP to re-roll, minimum I can get is 11, so it works. I can't recall if DH has any more HPs, so I won't nix the fatigue from the Extra Effort.
  16. Dead Head's eyes went wide when he saw the damage Atlas inflicted on the cave, and the realization that the place would come down at any minute. This would be the quickest way to take out the summoning chamber. And make the remains unusable for Samedi's plot, since corpses that've been crushed by tons of rubble can't easily be animated. Atlas could probably survive the collapse, but Avenger and Phantom? Not gonna risk it, and if not for me coming in here they wouldn't have been caught off-guard, so I gotta fix this. Dead Head knew Samedi could flit from shadow to shadow, and he himself had done so a few times before, too. But could he send others through the shadows, out of here and to safety? Or he could just send them to the shadowlands, and leave them there for Samedi's pets to feed on! Atlas alone surely held enough blood to feed whole clans of vampires! No! He would get them to safety, and he would hold Samedi down here while the cavern collapsed around them both. Atlas, Avenger and Phantom all felt an eerie coldness around them, and a slight dimming of their vision....
  17. "Greenbank Shopping Center," the man said as he climbed in, "please." Randy realized where he'd seen this guy: on tv and in the papers, talking about science-y stuff here and there, but most recently about a new technology center opening in Hanover. Randy knew some of the guys who'd worked on the constructions crews for the place, and remembered they said the job paid well, but there'd been a lot of specialized equipment needed for some of the work, for containment rooms and the like. "Oh, do you haff a newspaper I might borrow? I vas in de middle of an article, but left mein copy at de office."
  18. Gravity Control 13 does equal Str 65, which does give a heavy load of 100 tons.... ... but most Kaiju are in the Colossal category, which starts at 250,000 tons. Even a "merely" Huge one would start at 4,000 tons.
  19. Yeah, that could still be Centurion's cape she's wearing -- the blurb never explicitly says the AEGIS team was able to re-capture it after Quirk animated it, so it could've escaped (badly tattered, yet regenerating itself due to its "living" nature)! Or, best of both worlds, the AEGIS team did capture it, and it rests in the appropriate memorial, but a tatter of it blew away and "regenerated" into a second identical cape! It could even retain a bit of that "life," and have a few powers of its own: Additional Limb 1 & Elongation 1 (manipulatory cape) Enhanced Defense or the Shield power (silhouette distortion)
  20. "Dat vould be fine," he said with a warm smile. "Do you know of any good places around dis part of de city? I rarely venture out here, dough I do know of a few good places some blocks up, in de Theatre District. I vas dere a few weeks ago, at a performance of Kafka's Metamorphosis. It was... qvite unique. You vould be surprised at de quality of de food at some of de places dere; de people running dem know struggling performers haff little money, but dey make some exquisite dishes mit simple foods, for cheap, in order to draw dem back in."
  21. Making surgery scalpels from sound waves
  22. You beat his initiative, so you'll be going again! Initiative & Conditions 16 -- Gossamer -- Fatigued, 0 HP 8 -- Power Corps #1 -- Unharmed, NPC
  23. Are you going to use that HP to nix the fatigue using EE would impose (leaving Goss at fatigued)? Not doing so will put her down to exhausted. Taking 10 gets Goss a 19 (due to fatigue) on her attack, which does just hit them. Toughness saves: Toughness saves, DC 24 (1d20+11=22, 1d20+11=21, 1d20+11=23) All fail, and since they're treated as Minions, all fall unconscious. Huzzah! And now some initiative should be rolled. initiative (1d20+5=8)
  24. I thought we weren't keeping track of rounds now? But, yes, that is correct.
  25. Doc's going to heal Jack of all Blades; since he's (disturbingly) familiar with Jack's physiology, he knows what frequencies of energy he could absorb which would stimulate his metabolism in order to accelerate healing. Thus, setting Gadgets to I'm not sure how much that Drawback would be worth, or even if it would be worth anything, so I'm not counting it as being worth anything, but still listing it for flavor. And total rank isn't really important, since any use of Healing automatically removes on Bruise. Whether or not Jack lets Archeville touch him, though, given certain recent events, is a different matter... ;)
