A nifty idea has hit me, and while some parts I do wish to keep secret until actually posting it, there are some things I need clearing up first. First off, I am presuming that the spirit of Physicus would be lingering around somewhat, so that DH doesn't look like he's just a crazy man leading Zak on a wild (and cruel) goose chase. Assuming that is the case, would this section of the morgue be where Physicus' body is? Or did you have a speciifc idea for where it'd be?

Containment Means Never Having To Say KABOOM! (OOC)
Dr Archeville replied to Dariusprime's topic in Archives
No, I think it's usually associated more with Wisdom ;) -
I believe it's Jack of All Blades turn, then Dead Head... yes?

"I am a Doktor," the man replied, bowing ever-so-slightly, "und patient confidentiality is someding I am qvite used to. If it is your wish dat such information remains confidential, und keeping it so does not threaten anyvon, den I shall do so." And he would, too, despite never having taken the Hippocratic Oath. But he didn't need to do that, because he was -- or, at least, he kept telling himself he was -- a hero, one that others should trust and depend upon. Lycanthropy provided an interesting case, though. Under most state statutes, doctors and health–care providers generally have duties to report incidence of certain sexually transmitted diseases, communicable diseases, HIV/AIDS, or other conditions deemed to be risks to the health and safety of the public at large. And lycanthropy, according to the legends that stated it could be transmitted via a bite or scratch, could be considered one of those. (Vampirism held many of the same concerns.) Archeville rolled his head, appearing to work a kink out of his neck. "As for vhat I shall do mit de information: I am conducting a series of investigations into so-called 'Supernatural Menaces,' to separate de rumors und myths from de scientific truth. Mein excursion last evening was to be a vampire hunt, but after several hours of getting novhere, und den after seeing you, I decided to change mein plans." "Which brings me to mein next qvestion: are you limited to vhen you can change, or to de amount of time you may remain in a given form?"

Containment Means Never Having To Say KABOOM! (OOC)
Dr Archeville replied to Dariusprime's topic in Archives
Oh, I'm definitely enjoying it, too! Just need to improve my Time Management abilities ;) -
Would you mind elaborating a bit more, please? (I'm fine with "No," but I like to know why there's a "No")

That does concern me, yes, given that there are several NPCs (both player-made and from the M&M/FC books) you could have used just as easily. I'd be perfectly okay with you taking one of the Archetypes from the Core book, or Instant Superheroes, or the other Archetype Archives, and just slapping a name on that. If something all-new and all-different is being used, I'd think that at the very least you should get two refs to look over it and okay it (like is done with any other newly-made thing for the site); it could be a brief once-over done via PM or Chat, if such characters are only going to be used in just the one adventure and long-term impact wouldn't be an issue. (The few times I've used homebrewed NPCs, I've posted 'em in the Ref Cave for all to see.) Also, are you sure you're figuring throwing distance correctly? Divine's listed as weighing 120 lbs., which requires Str 12 to lift as a heavy load. 190 miles = 1,003,200 feet 17 steps up from the base of 5 feet. So Str ([17x5]+12) = Str 97 is needed to throw her that far. Or a rank 20 TK effect.

Speaking of Lukos' scent, something I keep meaning to ask you: how/why is he (in wolf form) able to smell the baked beans that are inside the (still-sealed) can, that's inside a house, while standing outside it? (He probably smells a lot of that if he walks by the Interceptor's brownstone, from Colt's room ) All his super-smell stuff means he smells everything in a grocery store, as if all the cans & bags & so on were wide open, while standing out in the store's parking lot. Is he supposed to be the Superman of werewolves, as far as his nose is concerned?

"'How'?," the Doktor repeated. "Quite simple, really: I happened to be passing by, und saw it all for meinself. No surprise you did not notice me, as I vas cloaked at de time." At that, Archeville faded from sight. This was more than invisibility, though, for he faded even from Lukos' sense of smell! And then he reappeared, smiling. "My turn, ja? How long haff you been a verevolf? Vas it someding you vere born mit, or did you contract it from a bit?"

Doc usually hangs around Hanover, but his interests are brad enough ("zhere's alvays room for Science!") that he can start anywhere you need. Dead Head hangs out at cemeteries and morgues, so there's some flexibility there in where he can show up. As for particular team-ups, I'm flexible. I think the only thing to advise against is a Dead Head/Wander team up... which makes me think that definitely should happen at some point (if the invading Grue have files on the heroes, they could well know how much seeing DH would affect Wander)

Question the First: pertinent to most any VP Can a VP be used to add Extras or Power Feats to an existing power? Ex: Can Doktor Archeville use his new & improved Electromagnetic Screwdriver (Gadgets 3, 15 points to play with) to add the Portal Extra (a +2 Extra) to 7 ranks of the Teleport power in his Gravimetric Belt? Or some extra to an Energy Rifle (Blast 8) he picks up off a baddie, such as Alt Save/Fortitude or Autofire or Penetrating? Question the Second: the Gadget-specific one Can an Easy-to-Lose Gadget be turned into a Hard to Lose thing, by sacrificing 1p per rank to make up the cost difference? Ex: Doktor Archeville borrow a tactic from THE MATRIX (or DC's Prometheus) and turns his new & improved Electromagnetic Screwdriver (easy to lose Gadgets 3, 15 points) into a "Kinesthetic-Synaptogenetic Enhancer" (i.e., it lets him know kung-fu). "Easy to Lose" is a -2pp/rank flaw, "Hard to Lose" is a -1pp/rank flaw, so could I sacrifice 3 of the 15 gadget points to turn the Easy-to-lose screwdriver into a hard-to-lose headband (that grants 12pp worth of combat-oriented skills & feats)? I would think Yes to both, but I'd like feedback from others before actually doing either of those. (I see no balance issues, but I'm not exactly wholly objective on this matter )

Many of you here have filled out the extremely lengthy Char Questionnaire (bka the Questionnaire from Hell, aka the HellQ). In return for doing so, you were awarded 1 power point. Many of you have also voiced the opinion that the Questionnaire is loooong, and on the dry side. So now we are starting a new type of questionnaire. It's shorter, but it will also involve a bit more work on your part. This new Questionnaire will be more akin to an interview, like one you'd read in a popular magazine or see on television. Here's one way it could be presented: Being interviewed by Voyeur for his new tv show is not the only way the interview can happen -- it could be a magazine (respectable or not), a supermarket tabloid like the Weekly World News, or the whole thing could be a bizarre dream. The important part is the "interview" itself. It should be 20 questions long, and flow in a fairly organic manner, like most interviews. To make it easier to see what the questions are, please bold them in the text. You are free to make up your own questions, and those who have done the HellQ already should do so, to avoid overlap and simply repeating what you've already written in the HellQ in an abbreviated form. If you're stuck for questions, here are some samples you can use: Players who do this earn 1pp for their character. As for the HellQ: since it is so very long and dry, filling it out will now nab you 2pp. Those who have already filled it out will get that second point as soon as you come forward and show us that you filled it out.

If she's only being flung ~190 miles, in the direction of Mt. Olympus (roughly east-southeast), then she's actually going to wind up... about 190 miles off-shore. Hope she can swim. (I'd think she should get an HP for that setback....)

2+5+6 = 13 skill ranks. 3pp gets you 12 skill ranks.

"Can I send him back? Pfah!," the Doktor spat, "dat is child's play! De only qvestion is vhether ve are to send him back in von whole piece, von broken piece, or in many pieces...." Archeville was petting the sparking cobra/spider gadget, and smiling very broadly. If he as acting, he was doing a damn fine job of it.

20pp = Hard to Lose Device 5 (25 points), or an Easy to Lose Device 6 (30 points) None of us know Malice or Captain K is involved, we just see these kids. But Doc has met one of these kids before: Emperor. Emperor shot him in the face once. Magnetic Nullifier (hand-held device, looks like a blue-and-gray tuning fork the size of Doc's forearm) Nullify Magnetic Effects 16 (all effects of a magnetic descriptor at once; Extra: Duration 2/Sustained; Flaw: Action/Full Round, Unreliable; Drawbacks: Reduced Range 2/2 increments) [30pp] 1 HP spent, 4 more left. This round's actions are spent getting to the action, picking up that item along the way. Free Action to activate Cloaking Field right before exiting the building.

Archeville looked out the office's window to the quickly-escalating fight below, and saw several familiar faces. "I vonder if dis is an attack on de building, de company, or on me personally?," the Doktor thought aloud. He turned to Motani, "guess I had better get out dere to see!" Before the branch head could respond, Archeville flew off, zipping down corridors and stairwells to the main doors of the lobby. Along the way he made a quick stop by one of the labs. This particular facility focused on electronics -- hence why its head was a computer & electrical engineer -- and some of the techies had been working on was a series of Non-Lethal Weapons. One of them, a beam weapon which gave of an intense but very short burst of infrared energy (i.e., heat), designed to knock out rioters via "thermal shock," had been a failure in its designed purpose. The techies did find a new use for it, though: the short burst of intense heat could demagnetize objects, and marketing was working on a way to push it as a way to erase enemy hard drives from a distance. But with a bit of on-the-fly tweaking, it could be used to nullify he magnetic powers of a metahuman. At least, that's what Archeville was counting on as he did said on-the-fly jiggery-pokery.

Youch. Hope your issues get resolved swiftly.

[25/26] Immunity 9 (life support) [9] 2+20+29+9 = 60pp
I also upped the Know/Tech requirement for the Restricted PF to be equal to his PL. The rulebooks don't give much (useful) in the way of setting the guideline for how restricted a Restricted device is, but having a minimum skill modifier = the owner's/creator's PL seems appropriate to me. These changes, plus a few edits made looong ago, necessitate a bit of editing to his Combat and Saves section. Combat: 16+16=32pp Attack: +8; +12 in "Combat Mode" Grapple: +8; +12 in "Combat Mode" Defense: +8 (+4 flat-footed); ; +12 (+5 flat-footed) in "Combat Mode" Knockback: -15; -9 "Cloaked"; -4 just w/ Labcoat; -0 w/ nothing; Belt can give an additional -18 from Immovability Initiative: +1 Saves: 4+5+3=12pp Toughness: +16 (Imp 14); +14 (Imp 4) when "Cloaked"; +4 (Imp 4) just w/ Labcoat; +0 w/ nothing Fortitude: +7; +4 without Force Field (+0 Con, +4; +3 more Enhanced Fort Save) Reflex: +6 (+1 Dex, +5) Will: +8; +15* (+5 Wis, +3; *+12 Wis, +3 w/ Enhanced Wis) Tentacle-Brain set to "Combat Mode" + a rank 14 damage effect from his Gadget + Sneak Attack = after two years of play, Doktor Archeville finally hits his offensive caps! DONE BY SHAENTHEBRAIN

Appearance is always just a Complication. Flight via wings (flight that ends if the wings are bound or otherwise impaired) is a -1pp Drawback, no mater how many wings you have. ... "Furry" has many connotations. You'll want to specify before making the full submission. If you just mean it as "someone who's part animal," we already have several chars like that.

Part of the new stuff Doc's getting is based on what he learned from the fight with Knievel. The one from six months ago Part of it's also based on interactions with one of your other chars, which took place about a month ago ;)

Sounds good to me EDIT: Oh! I'm going to be submitting a Char Edit for Doc soon, spending those 13pps he's got saved up. What on? Two more ranks in Gadget, bringing his Electromagnetic Screwdriver to Gadgets 3. I'll also be doing some jiggery-pokery to his Gravimetric Belt. If I get them in (and approved) by 3pm tomorrow (I'll probably have them in by tonight, as well as my post), will it be okay to use those upgrades here?
