  1. The first blast hit mostly hair, though it did singe her scalp a bit. The second and third blasts hit nothing but large masses of hair. The fourth blast, though, did the trick, hitting her square in the chest and knocking the wind out of her. And in that brief moment when she was stunned, and her hair around Archeville fell slack, the others moved in and grabbed him, then zipped off via their boot-jets, carrying the Doktor towards the east. When Gossamer could breathe again, and the stars were mostly out of her eyes, she estimated they were already nearly half a mile away. This date was not turning out at all like she'd hoped. "Are you alright, Miss?," a young waiter asked as he offered to help her up. Other voices were rising -- calls to 911, or to friends; complaints about a ruined meal, and how "those superheroes" should do more to prevent this sort of thing; the CLICKS of digital cameras taking pictures of the wreckage, or of the blonde heroine who'd bravely stood up to the armored criminals.
  2. "No von injured here...," Archeville uttered, then he turned sharply to Stesha. "Vhere did you send de guests? Can you see dem now, find out if dey are alright? De vedding crashers may haff decided to take revenge on dem as dey fled." He then turned to the bride and groom, "Jack, who und vhat were does dings? Vhat is de 'Law of de Dragon'?"
  3. I like the Trickster, in part b/c we already sorta have a technomage (Quark). But it's not as if comics limit themselves to just one example of any given archetype Babylon 5 (and the spin off Crusade) had technomages, you could look to them for examples.
  4. Will save, DC 25 (1d20+6=14) fails by 11 HP to re-roll! (my last HP) Will save, DC 25; HP re-roll (1d20+6=20) fails by 5 Since the +9 on Know (Arcane Lore) DH has listed on his sheet now is due to tutoring he'll be getting from Phantom later, he doesn't have that now, he's got the +5 he started with. Knowledge (arcana) (1d20+5=21) Heh, fails, but if he had Phantom's tutoring, that would've passed ;)
  5. The seventh floor was filled with more crisscrossing hallways, with innumerable offices between them. It was very quiet up here; if she strained she could just make out some soft murmurs from from behind closed doors. As she wondered which way to go, a pleasant voice chimed out. "Visitor ID badge confirmed. Subject: Fulcrum. Please follow the illuminated arrows to your appointment." A soft light from under Fulcrum caught her eye: glowing arrows, forming a path to the right and going around a corner. After about a minute of following them, she found herself at a door which opened to what looked to be a large electronics testing lab. Standing by a computer terminal was Doktor Archeville, was turned to face her just as she stepped up to the doorway. "Ah, hello, Ms. Fulcrum!," the super-scientist said warmly, "so good to finally meet you! Please, come, sit!" he added, pointing to a pair of black leather chairs by one workstation.
  6. When she landed, Fulcrum was a bit surprised at how normal the place looked on the inside, considering who she was seeing and what she'd heard went on inside. It looked like the lobby of any normal office building, sleek and austere, with a few potted plants next to some marginally comfortable chairs. Even the few passing technicians and businessmen (investors, she guessed) were moving about in what could be described as "casual efficiency," neither rushing nor idling. As she wondered when the cyborg gorilla might leap out and start rampaging, or a blob-monster ooze down one of the hallways, she saw a young and very perky blonde woman at a reception desk wave her over. "Hello, Ms. Fulcrum!," the receptionist said in a voice as perky as her appearance. "Doktor Archeville is expecting you, up on the seventh floor. Here," she continued, holding out a VISITORS ID badge attached to a blue lanyard, "you'll need this to get around." Fulcrum briefly wondered which had a higher percentage of plastic, the ID badge or the receptionist's chest. "There's an elevator right down that hallway," she went on, pointing to the largest of the hallways behind her. "Have a super day!" Elsewhere, on the 7th floor, Archeville was going over some test results from his latest experiments -- the development of a new radiation chelating agent, to help people exposed to radiation recover quicker, and with reduced risk of cancers -- when an alarm from reception alerted him of Fulcrum's arrival. "Alvays nice to see a new face," he said aloud, before realizing he was alone in that particular laboratory.
  7. Psst... someone might wanna make an entry for this or the Index/Timeline. ;)
  8. Hrm, I don't think anyone ever gave any thought as to when the Fisticuffs Fundraiser was happening Jan 15th is fine :)
  9. "Jes two problems wit' that, mah undead brother," Dead Head quickly replied. "If'n anything happens to me, not much loss; I've only been in this city fer a week, an' y'all barely know me. But if'n anythin' were t'happen t'you, then she" he pointed to Phantom, "is gonna be powerful upset. An' besides," he cocked his head back to Avenger, "if'n this thing makes any undead what enter it enslaved t'the one who made it, then ah think we'd all rather fight me than you. I may be near-impossible t'put down, but ah'm also near-impossible t'miss. You go rogue, we'd be lucky t'see you before ya tear our throats out." Before objections or protestations could be voiced, Dead Head took up his shovel and stepped in. As soon as his booted foot first hit the other side, a thought flashed across his mind. "'Course, it's entirely possible that, if Samedi is th' one behind this, he foresaw mah involvement, an' knew I'd volunteer to go first, an' so set it t' activate once ah entered...."
  10. So... top of the round, with "Johnny Rocket" and "Lady Liberty"?
  11. "Sooo..." Dead Head drawled out, "if this thing drains th' life force of anyone what enters it... presumably t' power up whatever unnatural hexcraft's been laid out... would me goin' in there do nuthin', or would I overload it an' make all sorts of super-zombies? 'Cuz if me bein' there won't affect it none, I can just hop in and start erasin' them marks an' breakin' them circles."
  12. Did you have a specific date in mind for this? Doc's free any day this year except Jan 3rd and Feb 11th (and whatever day Sandman does the Swords & Sorcery reboot). And since she lives openly as Fulcrum, is that the name she'd make her appointment under?
  13. 14 December 2009 The following is my initial plans for anti-vampire weapons. Some can be used to capture, some to weaken, some to destroy... at least, hypothetically. My lack of true data on these... entities makes anything I come up with guesswork at best. And since I doubt Avenger would allow me to test any of them on him, or that he would allow me to test them on any of his "subjects" -- assuming his "King of the Vampires" title has any power -- I will need to do some field tests of my own. Easy enough to notify the folks at ArcheTech of my need for a few days to work on some "intense projects." But before I can start hunting, I would need to find where in Freedom they are nesting. (Social dynamics akin to vampire bats? Investigate further.)
  14. Excellent! So that means the 3rd one passed. So in total, she's got 2 bruises (one from the 1st save, one from the 4th), and is stunned. Crud, that meas she still needs to make a Concentration check (DC 18) to see if her FF falls. On second though, no, it doesn't; while she's stunned they're not going to attack her again (so it won't matter if her FF's up or not), they're just gonna re-grab Doc and jet off. Once she's able to act again, they'll be about half a mile away. Have an HP for the setback.
  15. "Madame? A rum und Coke, please," Archeville ordered from a passing waitress. He looked on as Taylor opened her gifts, waiting for the moment he could unleash his present upon the unsuspecting heroine.
  16. First one failed by 1, that's a bruise (which'll impose a -1 on Toughness saves). Second one passes with flying colors. Third one fails by 10 (due to that bruise), which puts her at staggered (can only take a move or a standard action each round) & stunned. Being stunned might cause her Force Field to fail; it falls unless she can make a DC 18 Concentration check. Assuming the FF stays up, the fourth save failed by 6, so that's another bruise & another stunned. (If the FF fell, then she failed by 14, which is another staggered & stunned... but 2 staggereds = unconscious) You could use an HP to re-roll that third Toughness save. At the least you'd get a 22, which'd only fail by 2, so you'd just get another bruise. If you don't do that, I will need a Concentration check from you, to see if your FF stays up. If you don't re-roll the Tougnhess save, and the Concentration check fails, and she's knocked unconscious, you'll get 2 HP: one for being KO'd, and one for losing the good mad Doktor.
  17. Personally, I'd be fine with Device-less Luna Moth becoming permanent for FC PbP. Any other changes, though, I'd want to mull over.
  18. Awesome Do they share Avenger's anti-tech cloaking field (like I've been saying his skin samples do)?
  19. If you get four 20s in a row, she'd make 'em.... *ahem* Technically, no, you wouldn't, since you can only use Extra Effort (to stunt something) when it's your turn. But, I'll let you spend 1 HP now to do so.
  20. I'd be fine with the Damage effect; opening his mind this much hurts. Re-reading the rules on Confuse, though, makes me concerned he wouldn't be able to use it very well -- each round I'd re-roll the effect, so as-written he'd only have a 15% chance each round of being able to act normally and use that extra brainpower. The rest of the time, he'd be attacking himself (taking a power drill to his temple to make the voices stop; 10% chance), doing nothing but babble (as he begins voicing his shoulder daemons [1] [2]; 25% chance), running from his project ("What am I doing?!"; 20% chance), or attacking the nearest creature (or vaguely anthropomorphic item, like the collection of parts that, to him, look like a leering, mocking face; 30% chance).
  21. Archeville was yanked from the clutches of #3 and #7. "You do not wanna mess with us, missy," #1 roared as he and his three like-suited associates all turned and opened fire on Gossamer. "We came to make this egghead pay for what he did, and we're not about to let some blonde tart stop us!"
  22. I'd said it wasn't Grapple, it'd be a Disarm attempt, so it'd just a Str check (with Super-Str figured in) for the Disarm check... but, for Gossamer, that'd be a +23, not +33 so that's a 29 total, which still beats the Power Corps guy's 18. Initiative & Conditions 20 -- Power Corps #7 -- Unharmed 13A -- Power Corps #5 -- Unharmed 13B -- Power Corps #3 -- Unharmed 10 -- Gossamer -- 3 HP -- Unharmed 9 -- Doc -- 3 HP -- Staggered, Unconscious 8 -- Power Corps #1 -- Unharmed They all open fire on Gossamer. Four attack vs. Gossamer (1d20+11=29, 1d20+11=29, 1d20+11=29, 1d20+11=23) Soo... that's four DC 24 Toughness saves I'll need from ya. (all nonlethal )
  23. The German Doktor nodded, "ach, ja, I know quite a bit about families being separated und disappearing." He turned and pointed towards the large monitor-covered pillar dominating in the center of the massive laboratory, "I could try und find what happened to dem, dough it would take some time, und I cannot guarantee I vould find anyding, vhat mit all de files lost in assorted political upheavals over de past few decades."
  24. Sooo... do Avenger's swimmers swim? Or are they dead matter, like him?
