A small grin broke across Archeville's face as he nodded at Ace's contribution, "an excellent point, Herr Danger, dough von mit a correspondingly greater risk, since you vould haff to insure dat all members of de team not only vorked vell mit each other -- skewing perhaps more for complimentary members rather dan similar, homogeneous members -- but dat dey sincerely trusted each other. Having to many similarities could run de risk of de team becoming insular und going off on vild tangents from deir original goals und purposes." The Doktor was pleasantly surprised at how revelatory this meeting had come to be.

Archeville gave a curt nod to Ace, "let us start mit someding light und simple: Jägermeister. Not a Jägerbomb, a Jägermeister, neat." He then turned to Jack, "I shall be more dan mere audience, Jack -- I intend to show I can sing as vell as I can dance!" He then did something which was perhaps unexpected: he extended his hand to Jack.

Dead Head "Thanks, Ruskie," the still incredibly mangled-looking man said, "that feels much better!" Now he no longer looked like someone had crumpled him into a ball after setting him on fire. Now he looked like he'd merely been run over many, many, many times, after being set on fire. He lifted one hand and gave a 'thumbs up'... and it promptly snapped off. "Oh, for the love of... hey, Starman," he called to Dark Star, "whose house is this? You know if there's any raw meat around?" Dead Head suddenly realized that was perhaps not the best choice of words. "Beef, I mean! Steaks, or pork chops!" Dead Head was trying very hard -- in his own macabre way -- to keep a sense of levity in the place, to fight against the crushing darkness, without tipping too far into irreverence. It was a delicate act, made more difficult by the fact he could hear all the dead screaming in his skull, wailing in confusion or roaring with rage at the suddenness and unnaturalness of their deaths. Some cried for comfort, for justice, but more demanded vengeance, bloody restitution for their losses. If his skull and hands weren't so badly shattered, he'd be cradling the former in the latter.

Same place Atlas, Jack/Avenger, and Phantom are. Probably near the front grounds. No, wait, they're with Fleur, and she was at the back setting up defenses... right? I have no idea where Geckoman is. Ask Ecal ;)

And They Called Me MAD! (IC)
Dr Archeville replied to Dr Archeville's topic in Else Ifs and What Worlds
"What? Rocket, you're in one!" a young female voice responded. "Well, sorta. Who do yo think helped provide the materials and built the nullifiers for the cells at Blackstone? ASTRO Labs did!" It dawned on Rocket that there would be several watertight (if not airtight) containers and chambers in ASTRO Labs, used in assorted manufacturing and testing processes. Doktor Vile continued to lay unconscious. -
Attacking one of the helicopters that's going after the folks on the ground. (He was told to cover, and he does listen to instructions. Occasionally.) If 17 hits, DC 26 Toughness save from the Hellfire Bolt.
-
The demon bobbed and weaved out of the gunfire from the one helicopter, but rather than attack it, he ignored it in favor of one of the two that were going after his associates. Gotta keep those boys covered; they're my best shot at surviving this! "Stay on the ground where you belong, mortals!" it roared as it unleashed a bolt of dark hellfire.

Good luck! I'll also be gone most of tomorrow, as I have been roped into helping out-of-town family move some furniture and tear up carpeting.

I usually look at the avatar icon and the color of the spoken text to determine what posts go to what character :P

Remember the scene in Hellboy where the titular character was carrying a reanimated Russian corpse on his back in order to find a certain tomb? Or in The Empire Strikes Back where the dismantled C-3PO is being carried in a mesh bag on Chewie's back? I imagine that's what Atlas & DH looked like as they were retreating. Also: I now have two PCs in this thread. I'll have to be sure to label 'em so the Refs can easily count come harvest time.

Dead Head "Weeellllll," wheezed a mashed and mangled pile of body parts which Samael had dropped like an old backpack, "judge... in'... by... the... tin... gle... ah... feel... all... through... mah... bones......... I'd... say... there's... some... sort... of... ho... ly... wards... up." "Lit... tul... help? Ah... think... mah... knee... caps... done... pierced... mah... lungs...." The pile of parts had been twitching as it gasped and wheezed, and very slowly began to unfold. It looked as if it had been a man that had been picked up by a giant and crushed into a compact ball... after he had been battered and slashed and pierced and burned, a lot. Which is pretty much exactly what had happened to him.

"Herr Star!," the Super-Scientist called out, "stop dat voman! Ve do not know vhat is at stake here, und cannot risk dings falling apart before ve figure it out due to de rash act of some overzealous heroine!"

As I said earlier, 2 and 3 are tied together. And I'm still working out how I'm going to do it all. Like I said, it'll be a Big Thing. You will be getting to all three of those, in time. But if we're splitting the team like that, we shouldn't do "Interceptors #1" and "Interceptors #2" thing for different groups. If the team's splitting like that, then it seems more like X-Men Blue & X-Men Gold, where one team was in X-Men and the other in Uncanny X-Men. I will be starting something on Monday, possibly Sunday. For now, y'all just worry about getting comfy in the Brownstone and getting to know one another ;)

Yes. Yes, it would. And I'd forgotten Phantom was at the Fallout, so I'll edit that bit. I am assuming Doc knows what DS's human form looks like, due to the tests he was doing on him (before Avenger's cross-dimensional hijinx). So this is after Knights Fallout, but before Cy's big Hell-Thing, right? (IIRC, Invasion/Danger Mansion is the first time Doc & Fleur were in the same thread, so he has no idea who the green-haired girl is.) Is this before or after the Carnival (and the Interceptors formed)? EDIT: Well, even if it's before the Interceptors formed, Doc's comment re: Grim would still stand, since he was considering her for part of him team for some time.

"Oh, do not vorry, it can go much higher..." Archeville said, then a look of concern flashed across his face. "Dough... it is possible dat, as it stands now, it may not be able to go high enough to measure de uppermost limits of your strength." The easygoing smile was back, "but ve can vorry about dat vhen de time comes!" He looked back and forth between Sam and the images of Sam on the wall-screen. "Ja, okay, you can stop now, take a breather. I haff all de basic baseline data I need for dese preliminary tests. Vhenever you are ready, you can change, und start lifting dat bar again." A light suddenly shown down on Sam from above. Looking up he saw a halo of light in the ceiling above, which broke into several smaller lights on the end of robotic tentacles that uncurled down towards him, though they did not cross the threshold of the platform and stayed outside of it, leaving him ample room. In addition to the lights, each metal tendril had several camera lenses on the ends. "Ah, sorry, should haff varned you. Dey'll be monitoring you as you change. I vanted to get you from all angles."

Archeville looked around the room, smiling and nodding to everyone in Taylor's little group. "I am sure Jack vill make a fine selection," he said as he laid the present on the table before Taylor. "So, haff de gifts already been opened, or are you vaiting to do so later?"

So... Angel's charging towards Omega?

Um... is this Holy Ward going to be doing anything nasty to the two undead? Particularly the one undead who gorged himself on demon blood?
-
The zombie was quiet for a moment. A long moment. Breakdown or Grim may've thought that the talkative undead had reverted to a basic mindless zombie. Then he bent a bit, slapped his knee, and let out a long and what could even be called 'hearty' laugh. The fact it was being forced through withered and partially rotted vocal chords was offset by the clear good nature behind it. "I like you. I like ya both. But," the Revoltin's Revenant leaned a bit more towards Grim, "don't worry, none, miss, I ain't no biophiliac." "Now, as for how hard a few 'bats' can be... well, that's kinda like askin' 'how hard can a few monsters be?' -- 'cuz that's how broad a matter this is." He began to pace back and forth a bit, like a professor at a lecture, "First off, many vamps don't turn into bats or wolves, and those that can usually had to work at it for years or even decades, so if yer against one that can turn into a bat, it's probably an experienced bloodsucker. And garlic and crucifixes don't always work, either. Sunlight's not always a sure bet, either -- some get burned up real quick, sure, but others just lose most of their powers, but can run around like any other human in th' day. That's the two key things when dealin' with vampires (or any undead, really): research 'em... and know that th'longer they've been around, the more powerful they are likely t'be." He turned suddenly, and when he did his head kept turning a bit more than the rest of his body, then snapped back. "'Course, part of th'resarch is also t'see whether or not the vamp in question is a true threat. There are some who try an' fight their hungers, live -- er, exist -- off pig an' cow blood from the local slaughterhouses. There is the chance they slip and decide to switch from pig to 'long pig'... but if ya gotta focus on one set of vamps or another, I say go for the ones who don't try to curb their cravings fer human blood."

"Er....," Archeville muttered in Dark Star's and Jack of Blade's general direction, "assuming does two truly are who dey appear to be, dere are far, far bigger stakes at hand dan I anticipated. But... if ve can stop vhatever it is dat is so potent it has caused Ceturion und Omega to vork together... vould dat not show Omega our vorld is von not to be assaulted? Ve haff turned him tvice before... ja! Ja! Ja, ve vill do dis!"

You have anything in mind, AD?

"Someding like dat, ja," Archeville said as a small panel opened at one edge of the platform. Out of it rose what appeared to be a standard Olympic weightlifter's barbell bar, some seven feet long. "Stand in de center of de platform, please, und do some basic reps mit de bar." Playing along for the moment, Sam did so, and found the bar weighed as much as a standard Olympic weightlifter's barbell bar, about 45 pounds. As he lifted, he saw Archeville manipulate his (rebuilt since their day at the Mall) Electromagnetic Screwdriver, and he could feel a shift in the bar's weight. It was a subtle, gradual increase, and for a few moments was nothing that even caused him to strain. "Magnetics, actually, pulling on de steel bar mit more und more force, to simulate increased veight," the Doktor explained. "Und here," he added, indicating the wall-screen they'd been looking at earlier, "you can see a readout on how much veight is being simulated." A simple digital readout appeared as a hologram 'popping out from' the wall-screen, while images of Samael himself on the platform remained on the screen itself. Samael didn't even feel any real weight until it hit around 700 pounds. At 1400, he hit another wall, but powered on through. At 2100, he could no longer get the bar over his head, but he was still able to lift it. When he was deadlifting 4100, he knew he wouldn't be able to lift much more, at least not without changing. "You may be interested to know," the Doktor said with a large and somewhat goofy grin, "dat, even in your 'normal' form, you are roughly twice as strong as Žydrūnas Savickas, de current holder of de Vorld's Strongest Man title."

You'd need Area and Selective attack twice, since Corrosion is two effects in one (Affects Objects Drain Toughness & Damage). Also, that's gonna take Quark 37 rounds to jury-rig, and a DC 52 Craft check. I know you can make the check, with your Ultimate Craft feat (so you'd be spending 2 HPs, one to jury-rig and one for the Ult feat)... but do you have the time?

"'Look, all I wanna know is when you sign up the first baseman, how does he sign his name?' 'Hu.' 'The guy.' 'Hu.' 'How does he sign...' 'That's how he signs it.' 'Who?' 'Yes.'" CLANG! "'All I'm trying to find out is what's the guy's name on first base.' 'No. Watt is on second base.' 'I'm not asking you who's on second.' 'Hu's on first.' 'One base at a time!'" CLANG! CLANG! CLANG! CLANG! CLANG! "'Well, don't change the players around.' 'I'm not changing nobody!' 'Take it easy, buddy.' 'I'm only asking you, who's the guy on first base?' 'That's right.' 'Okay.' 'All right.'" CLANG! CLANG! CLANG! "'What's the guy's name on first base?' 'No. Watt is on second.' 'I'm not asking you who's on second.' 'Hu's on first.' 'I don't know.' 'He's on third, we're not talking about him.' 'Now how did I get on third base?'" CLANG! CLANG! "'Why, you mentioned his name.' 'If I mentioned the third baseman's name, who did I say is playing third?' 'No. Hu's playing first.' 'What's on first?' 'Watt's on second.' 'I don't know.' 'He's on third.' 'There I go, back on third again!'" CLANG! CLANG! CLANG! "'Would you just stay on third base and don't go off it.' 'All right, what do you want to know?' 'Now who's playing third base?' 'Why do you insist on putting Hu on third base?' 'What am I putting on third?' 'No. Watt is on second.' 'You don't want who on second?' 'Hu is on first.' 'I don't know.' 'Third base!'" CLANG! CLANG! Keep it up, Dead Head. Keep those demons off-guard, and my teammates from know just how freaked out I am by all this!
