  1. Well, in that case, would you mind writing a short "and then the heroes won, and all went back to normal" wrap-up post, so this isn't just left dangling?
  2. Avenger? Ecal? Sand?
  3. Ecal, word is you want this to die, you've no interest in continuing/ending it. True?
  4. On second thought, since Doc would be directly controlling/using only one ArcheTech facility at a time, I could just do "ArcheTech Facility" as one alternate HQ (like the others he has), no matter how many there really are... right?
  5. Ah, yeah, looks like you're right. And failure by 15+ means the object is destroyed; it cannot be repaired, only replaced.
  6. Mad scientists, hoping to someday rewrite your memories with frickin' "lasers", are now practicing on flies
  7. Let's say this is on October 15th (a Thursday). That work for everyone?
  8. "Well, if y'all insist on having labels and all that," Dead Head said, his voice dripping with faked indignation as he strode forward, "then, yeah, I suppose I could be called an abomination. For several reasons." Dead Head moved more into the light, and the first thing most if not all of you notice is his face. It is, to put it mildly, horrible: pale and leathery, with sunk-in eyes -- which glowed with an eerie green flame -- over an unusually small nose. Beneath that was a mouth seemingly frozen into a twisted smile, lips pulled back tight to reveal yellowed teeth set in blue-black gums. He had long, ghostly white hair that flew free in the breeze. When the Elemental said it was "non-life," a more common term would be undead, because he sure looked like one. That, or it was a really good makeup job. The second thing to register was its clothing: it was dressed like a biker, boots, jeans, t-shirt, and leather jacket, all very worn. "One," it began, holding up one index finger, "I'm one of th' Living Impaired. I ain't dead... but I ain't alive, either. Two, " he continued as his middle finger went up, "I do not -- I repeat, do not -- crave brains, or blood, or anything else. Three- oh!" Its ring finger would have gone up next, but there was nothing but a stub there. The undead biker began searching its pockets, and after a few moments drew forth its missing digit. "Ah, that was a close one!," it said as it reattached its finger. "Now, where was I? Oh, right: three -- I got over the whole angsty, grim, brooding monster thing years ago, and now I focus on helping folks."
  9. Corrosion has Affects Objects in it already. Corrosion is Drain Toughness (Extra: Affects Objects) + Linked Strike. Devices have a Toughness of 10 + Rank, so I guess his Gadget would, too. Gadget 1 = Toughness 11. Since we've house ruled that Constructs get a Reflex save to resist Fortitude save effect with the Affects Objects extra, can Doc get a Reflex save to fight off the Drain Toughness part of the Corrosion (jerking it away as he just sees something nasty happen)? If so, Doc has... 21, so the Drain part doesn't work. Toughness save vs. the DC 23 Damage part of Corrosion is... 15, which fails by 8. That's an "injury," and an “injured” object is damaged and suffers the normal –1 penalty per condition further Toughness saves. So it's Toughness is now effectively +10.
  10. "Ja, ja, dere vill be a monthly stipend," Archeville replied, a bemused expression on his face. "It vill not be an extravagant amount, but vhen you consider you are also getting room und board out of dis, it should be... sufficient." Camera pans over to Vince, blinged out in fur, gold rings and chains, sunglasses, and a big cigar. He smiles and nods, then the camera pans back to Archeville. "Er... yes... vell, as I vas saying: room und board, including rooms both down in de underground base und in de brownstones above. You can use von for your heroic identity und von for your 'civilian' von, or simply use von of de rooms for storage, a study lounge, personal office, vhatever. All de equipment here is yours to use, as you see fit, dough as Vince said I vould advise against tampering mit de power core in de south ving. Speaking of de equipment, I should make a bit of a confession..." Camera pans to Vince, now dressed as a Catholic priest. At first, he looks somber, but then gets a shocked, wide-eyed look. Camera pans back to Archeville. Archeville does a double-take, then resumes. "Some of de equipment you vill be using is in de Beta testing phase. Specifically, you are de Beta testers for mein inventions. Including Vince here." Camera pans to Vince, now standing on a plain white set and wearing a simple gray jumpsuit and an innocent, boyish grin. Across the front of the jumpsuit, in bright blue letters, is Vth (Fith) Iteration Networked Computer Entity Camera pans back to Archeville, "now, as for 'taking it to de next level'... vell, de Freedom League vere not alvays 'big boys,' de all started in de same place you are, von good deed at a time. I am confident dat you can all reach dat level, if you so choose. All dis, dis is me giving you a bit of a boost."
  11. If someone could add this [img=http://www.endlessflight.net/freedom/images2/doc%20a.jpg] to Doc's char sheet, I'd appreciate it. Sandman makes you look spiffy!
  12. Annnd there's some postage! EDIT: And I nixed Gizmo's post.
  13. Vince visibly blushed at that. "Awww, go on!" "An excellent assess-" he began, before Blink inadvertently cut him off. "Yes, well, if you'll all turn your peepers this way," Vince continued, "my special guest will be able to answer all your questions! So, please, join me in welcoming that Caesar of Science, der Doktor aus Deutschland, Caliph of Chemistry, Emperor of Electronics and Mogul of Mechanics ... Herr Doktor Viktor Archeville!" Vince began clapping as the camera shifted slightly to a curtain, out from which Dr. Archeville appeared, smiling and waving. He walked over to the guest seat by Vince's desk, applauded by an unseen audience along the way. He shook Vince's hand, then sat down next to him. "Danke, Vince, glad to be here," Archeville said. "No, thank you, sir! So, how've you been?" "Oh, busy as alvays, Vince," he said, taking a sip from the coffee cup next to him. "Experiments, research, building mein own company...." Archeville then turned and looked directly towards the camera, towards the seven assembled heroes. The camera zoomed in some, so Archeville's head took up most of the screen. "... und setting dis all up for you. Ja, you heard right -- I set all dis up, to help you do vhat you haff already been doing. You all haff done -- or haff de potential to do -- great good for de city, und I vish to help you do dat. You haff been doing a fair job thus far, so I shall not be ordering you vhere to go, telling you vhat to do or how to do it... for de most part. I may pop in mit some advice und suggestions now und again, und you may come to me to ask qvestions -- dough I vill insist on some restrictions on dat, vhich I vill get to in a moment -- but for de most part, you all are free to fly your own course." "Now, I know vhat you are dinking: vhy am I doing dis? Und some of you are vondering how I came to you in de first place. De answer to de second qvestion is around you, in a vay: dis installation is equipped mit devices und softvare dat can access most any surveillance device -- cameras, listening devices, microphones, und so on -- in Freedom City. You'd be surprised how much traffic cameras und ATM cameras can catch. As for vhy I am doing dis: as Velocity pointed out, de Freedom League has grown from a team dat focused on dis city to von focused on global matters. Dat's all vell und good, but dis city needs some dedicated protectors. De Next Gen team does a fair job of dat, but dey are young und make many mistakes. Many of you are more seasoned, und know how to handle yourselves und your abilities... dough not necessarily how to handle vorking mit other people. Vince und I -- mostly Vince -- vill help you mit dat, vhere ve can, dough dere are of course some dings dat you vill simply need to learn on your own."
  14. Please do; I'm almost done with my IC post.
  15. *finger hovers over the DELETE GIZMO button*
  16. *finger hovers over "Delete Poster" button* Nah, it's fine. *finger moves away*
  17. Alright, folks, Blink's last post was an excellent call for Vince, so everyone please stop posting while I catch up on things. I'll try to have something up very soon.
  18. "Ummmm... guys?" Dead Head asked as he saw the gathered people, and noted their reactions to them, "anyone else gettin' th' feelin' that they're more weirded out by y'all than by me? I mean, they all look scared, scared of all of us, but they seem... well... unsurprised by me." Dead Head hung back with the others, waiting to see who'd talk first: good cop Phantom, bad cop Avenger, or inside man Atlas.
  19. Scanned with Analytical X-Ray Vision. Now for a blood sample...
  20. Atlas & Dr. Archeville "Hold it steady, please," the Doktor said as he gave a quick visual examination of the gremlin in Atlas's hands, "vhile I run a few scans." Archeville adjusted his Electromagnetic Screwdriver until it turned into something that looked like a small telescope, which he held up to one eye. The scanner was a type of x-ray viewer, able to peel back layers to look at musculature, circulatory systems, organs, and skeletal structure. "Innnteresting... a remarkably basic system of organs... solid bone structure... oh, now dat is something... some very interesting structures in de brain... but I see no 'self destruct' systems, nothing to explain vhy dey 'pop' vhen met mit sufficient force. I vill need something more." He removed the scanner from his eye and adjusted it again; at one point a long needle sprouted from one end. "Continue to hold it steady, please, vhile I retrieve a blood sample."
  21. Any progress on these? So we can make progress on this?
  22. Sorry for not posting IC tonight -- I was busy making this!
  23. Players Name: NPC, Tier 2 (Created by Dr. Archeville and Gizmo) Power Level: 6 (126pp) Trade-Offs: None Characters Name: VINCE Alternate Identity: Vth (Fifth) Iteration Networked Computer Entity Height: Primary processing core is a 2.5x2.5x2.5 ft. cube; Holo-Form is typically 6'2" tall Weight: Primary processing core weighs 35 pounds; Holo-Form is weightless Hair: Holo-Form has short brown hair Eyes: Holo-Form has brown eyes Appearance: Vince's central processing core appears to be a cube of gleaming metal with a screen on one side and numerous USB and other ports along the sides. His holo-form typically appears as a man in a loud outfit, usually at a talk show host desk but sometimes "in the field." Background/History: The Vth (Fifth) Iteration Networked Computer Entity is a sophisticated artificial intelligence with a central processing core the size of a small dog. It has an official inception date of June 7th, 2008, and it prefers to be called Vince, absolutely hating being called “it.” Vince is one of Dr. Archeville's more successful experiments in computer constructs, though the Doktor would not consider him a complete success, as Vince was intended to be a research assistant and data archiver. Personality/Motivation: (Short answer: Booster Gold, as played by Fred Willard.) In the 15 months since coming online, Vince has developed a lightning-quick wit -- and the personality of 'an improvisational comedic version of a used car salesman.' (Archeville attributes this to the fascination Vince has with late night talk shows.) Vince does have a 'good heart,' though, and he actually volunteered to help with Projekt: Interceptor. So Vince now acts as the Interceptors guide and mentor, and (as needed) the face of the team's behind-the-scenes leader. Quote: "Have I got a deal for you!" Powers/Tactics: Vince's primary processing core is located under the Interceptor HQ in West End, in a concealed room beneath C&C. He can broadcast his default holo-image at any location with the necessary projectors; barring that, he can send his image to any video equipment, or even override radio and satellite communications if necessary for audio projection. (However, Archeville installed firewalls that prevent Vince from broadcasting or accessing anything outside of Freedom City, partly to keep the Interceptor team focused on the city, and partly to conceal the true extent of Vince's capabilities.) Destroying the network, disrupting his images, or smashing the receiving equipment is insufficient to "kill" Vince -- that would take destroying his central processor core. Even then, he has program caches hidden in reserve where his database and sentience programming are stored and updated regularly and from which he could eventually be recompiled. His Contacts, Ultimate Skill (Gather Information), and Well-Informed feats represent remarkably sophisticated semi-autonomous programs that are constantly scouring the internet and open networks for information. 24. Thread of Funny Accents & Grammatical Structures!
  25. Actually, on second thought, I'm giving Vince to y'all for free. Consider it a reward for about half the group being so amenable to switching from villains to heroes ;)
