Josh, it was obvious Doc's force field was down. Save for first attack is... 19, which fails by 13, so another Staggered & Stunned. But since a staggered char who is staggered a second time is rendered unconscious, Doc is KO'd! Which nets Doc another HP. Knockback! Blast 17 - Knockback 4 = 13 = 10,000 feet (or about 2 miles). Since Doc was up in the air, Emperor had to be shooting at an upward angle to hit him, so... Doc's goin' up! Though not far enough to exit the Troposphere. But does Doc's belt stay on and keep him up? DC 15 Concentration... 31, so yes. There's all sorts of fascinating things in the rulebooks, y'know And now it's the start of round 5. Knievel's up.

Emperor's blast slammed into Archeville, both knocking the scientist unconscious and up, up and away from the immediate area -- almost two miles away! Mercifully, his gravimetric belt does keep him aloft once his momentum dissipates, so he does not immediately plummet back down.

Everyone else has. Well, except those with Skill Mastery, they didn't need to roll. :P

Since Dr. Annihilate has run away, I'll remove him from the Initiative count. Doc's DC 29 Fort save vs. Knievel's attack... 21, fails by 8, so another Bruised and still Stunned. Concentration checks to keep Sustained things up Force Field 11 = DC 21. And his check is... 16, a failure, so his Force Field drops! Flight 5 = DC 15. And his check is... 19, so he stays up in the air. One bit of good news for Doc: failing the Concentration check netted him a Hero Point for the setback. Emperor, go!

"I am- ACK!" Archeville barely managed to blurt out before being smashed by both rapid blasts from Emperor and Knievl's air cannon. Worse, Knivel's last hit jostled something loose in Archeville's gravimetric belt, for while he remained aloft, his force field fell! In all honesty, he looked rather sad hanging up there, like a limp ragdoll. But at least it wasn't raining.

I figured she would be seeing right through him; the act is to throw the others, not her. And Geez, Warmonger may've been fooled, too. He's not rolled ;)

I agree with Kenson; poison- and disease-users are fairly rare in comics, in my experience. Poison users would be Copperhead, Joker, Poison Ivy, Red Skull, Scarecrow, a few of the Serpent Society folks... and that's about all that come to mind. Disease users seem even rarer; Ra's al-Ghul and Red Skull (and then only in one storyline each) are the only two I can recall. And Marvel's the Legacy Virus messed up people who shouldn't have been bothered by diseases anyway.

Exile does indeed recognize him, both due to Exile's own acute magical senses & because he's one of the few who knows Terhune = Belphegor.

Shoot, I keep forgetting Stunned does add on an additional -2 to Defense. Okay, second Toughness save is... 27, fails by 5, takes a Bruise.
-
I think it's only a once/round thing. I'll dig around. Your first one missed.

The teleporter activated again, and out of it stepped a very plain and unassuming man that none of therm had ever seen before, or if they had they'd completely forgotten him. He appeared to be in his mid-30's, and stood about 5'10"; slender but fit, with short, brown hair, a narrow face, and round glasses. He wore penny loafers, tan slacks and vest, and a tan jacket with elbow patches; he looked very much like a college professor, or possibly a stockbroker. Fourth one here? Hrm, wonder if I'm the last. "H-Hello," the man said, appearing quite unused to and a bit intimidated by such a gathering of powerful individuals, "are y-you all teachers, too? I- oh!" As soon as he saw the Headmistress, he immediately focused his full attention on her, "Hello, madame! Th-thank you again for the opportunity to teach here. I do so ch-cherish the idea of shaping so many young minds, of molding future generations."

First attack misses (his stunned/flat-footed Defense is 14), second hits. DC 32 Toughness, eh? Well, Doc got an 18, which fails by 14, putting him at Staggered & Stunned. Knockback = 15 - 14 = 1 = 1 foot (or knocked prone, but I don't think you can be knocked prone while flying in the air) I'm gonna keep that, and hang on to my last HP. Atlas, SMASH!

Learning About Doktor Archeville New Hotness Rep

Season 4/Vol.5 started tonight.

... what? "What are you talking about?" he repeated, "I have been here all week, and have seen neither hide nor hair of you. Where have you been?" Something was not adding up. Had Vulpes been on some sort of week-long bender? Or did Gwen spirit him away for something?

Pft, who reads the News these days? :P

Knievel has a new outlook?

Gotcha, just wanted to make sure we were on the same page :)

Doc's Fort save (w/ -2 for being shaken) is... a 4! Which fails by... 25... Spend HP to re-roll, and I get... 20! Which only fails by 9, putting me at Stunned & Bruised. Rank 14 Damage effect & Doc's Kockback of -14 = 0 Knockback. B/c he's Stunned, his Force Field and Flight (both Sustained effects) may drop. He needs to make a Concentration check, DC (10 + power rank), in order to maintain them as a reaction. Fortunately for Doc, his brain's still in Enhanced Wisdom mode, so he's got a +12 total on Concentration. Force Field 11 = DC 21. And his check is... 26, so his force field stays up. Flight 5 = DC 15. And his check is... 24, so he stays up in the air. Doc is Stunned, and so can do nothing. Emperor, go!

"Better men dan you haff tried, und- OOF!" Archeville had begun talking back -- whether to Mervyl or to Knievel, one really could not say -- when Knivel's air-blast knocked the wind out of him. He spun about a bit and hung limply in the air for a moment, though his belt kept him aloft and protected.

For the cost of Enhanced Fort Save 14 & Impervious Protection 14 [42pp], you can have Enhanced Constitution 28 (to 38/+14) and Impervious Toughness 14. Which would give you +14 on Toughness & Fort saves, and on Con/Recovery checks.

"Vell..." he began, then paused to clear his throat. "Well, it is a safe move. Diversification is rarely a poor gamble, and many companies are getting out of specialization and moving to be more all-encompassing. Biotech and 'Green Energy' programs are two of the more prominent fields today, and if Darts can get more fingers into those pies, it would not hurt the portfolios." "It is somewhat ironic, though, that the metahumans that you rail so hard against have created entirely new fields of study simply by their mere existence, fields which could make Darts a true world power if it were to follow them. Huge advances have been made in genetics and physics as we study incredible phenomenon that could scarce be imagined even a century ago. Size-manipulators have been vital in advances in nanotechnology and picotechnology and he beginnings of femtotechnology. Those who can travel to space under their own power -- or even just to he upper atmosphere -- have aided astonomy and astrophysics; those who can travel to the crushing depths of the ocean have helped advance marine biology." "Not to say that Darts automatically would consider going for that angle. Due to your... activities, Darts is reluctant to have anything at all to do with metahumans. It would be far to easy for someone to start a smear campaign claiming Darts was using metahuman slaves to forcibly explore hazardous area, or vivisecting metahuman prisoners to see what new compounds could be harvested from their bodies." "Muah hah hah...." "Bottom line, though, is that I do feel it is prudent for them to focus less on weaponry and more on a wider assortment of science & technology."

Doc's Pseudonatural Mind is still set on Enhanced Wisdom, so his Sense Motive is +17. Got a 26 on the first, 36 on the second. So he is demoralized from the Intimidate (shaken, -2 on attacks, saving throws, and checks for one round), but not startled/feinted (so he's not flat-footed). And with Atlas's action, that marks the end of Round 2.

Do remember it took four days to make the mirror, and that wasn't four days spent doing nothing but work on the mirror; Jos worked on it at night, and still worked the shoppe during the day. If Ember Paw was shadowing Jos the whole time, then Sirius Vulpes didn't show up to work those days.
