  1. Let's do this!
  2. After re-reading the section on Super-Senses, "Detect Alignment" would just detect whether or not something has an alignment, not what the alignment is. And since we're not using an alignment system here, it's not going to be that helpful anyway. You can tell pretty easily who is Good and who is Evil; in the case of characters who can disguise themselves, you could get Vision Counters Illusion & Detect Hidden (Super-Senses 3), and/or lots of Sense Motive.
  3. Plugging some numbers in: DS's Blast 13 & Vestige's Knockback of -8 = 5, or 25 feet (if Vestige is stunned or worse) Natural 20s always hit, and if the result would hit anyway, it's also a crit. Since Vestige's defense is less than 28, DS did hit & critical. Which would have a knockback of (23 - 8 = 10) 1,000 feet!
  4. One change for Evil!Bio-Doc: his HQ has Concealed (hidden somewhere under Freedom), but is Tiny (Townhouse sized). When he turned to EVIL, his bio-building sort of imploded and then sank into the ground, and no one's been able to find it.
  5. It was a late Spring night, and all seemed quiet in Freedom City, at least as quiet as a city which was considered by most to be the center of metahuman activity for the world could get at night. Assorted heroes took the opportunity to rest, or catch up on assorted tasks, while most of the villains and crooks were laying low (or in jail). Most, but not all. A figure moved along one of the openings that released rain and ground water funneled by storm drains in Hanover into the Wading River. Anyone who saw it would describe the figure as wearing a midnight blue bodysuit that completely covered not just its identity but also its gender, carrying three red wineskins which pulsated and quivered. The figure opened each wineskin and squeezed out a green gel into the run-off, though it would be more accurate to say the figure opened the wineskins and the gel poured itself out. The three streams of gel coalesced into three green kitten-sized blobs, which then swam up the run-off stream and into the drain lines. A hypothetical onlooker would then have seen a slit open in the figure's suit, where its mouth would be, and hear a disturbing (and triumphant) laugh. A few days later... "Our breaking story: shock rolled through Hanover today as a third set of mutilated remains were found along the trails of the Promenade -- Alex McGee, a graduate student in zoology at Freedom City University. Police have released few details, save that, like the bodies of Eve O'Nell and Alvin Oates found earlier this week, the victims were severely burned by some type of acid. Despite a small but vocal public outcry, Police Commissioner Barbara Kane has not assigned the STAR Squad to this case, claiming there is not yet enough evidence to suspect true superhuman activity, nor did she offer to comment on any link between these three FCU graduate students. All visitors to the Promenade are urged to travel in groups and only in well-lit areas, and to report any unusual activity as soon as it's seen...."
  6. Will do!
  7. Oh, had you wanted me to start this off/run this?
  8. Looks like August 5th, which I'm guessing would be after The Visit. Avenger, I'm assuming Doc knows Claremont's location well enough to not need the Accurate extra on his Teleport to go from his place to the school; he knows one (and possibly two) people there. That okay?
  9. Now fully geared up, Archeville flew towards the door out of his house, and out of the warped space that made his home so much bigger on the inside than the outer dimensions would allow. "I understand. I should be dere..." He opened the door, took a step outside, and then vanished in a vortex of blue-grey light, reappearing at Claremont's main entrance. "... very soon. Apologies for de momentary radio static." The Doktor levitated up on anti- and contragravity waves, and scanned the roofs of the buildings; he did not know which building was the cafeteria, but Ms. Harcourt and the transporter should not be too hard to find. And they weren't. "Guten tag, Ms. Harcourt," he cheerily said as he landed next to her. "So, tell me, just vhat happened?"
  10. "Vell..." he started, then paused to take a drink, "I am sure you vill be qvite distracting to some of de students dere. As de press says, you are qvite de 'exotic beauty,' und I am sure several students vould haff fantasies dat involve dem staying in detention mit you, den you take off your glasses und let your hair cascade out of its bun as you-" Several flashes of light from onlookers snapping pictures of the two broke Archeville's train of thought. Or, at least, it seemed that way.
  11. I blame Geez3r. And you for not posting IC yet :P
  12. Hunh, less than I expected. Which could mean I really need to watch out... Terhune bowed his head slightly towards Gwen, "My products will be coming from all around the world; I do still have some contacts in Europe I can make use of. Always plant a lie inside a truth, makes it easier to swallow." "That said," he continued, "your terms are eminently agreeable, madame. In fact, one of the planned upgrades I intend to make to this place is the installation of some cameras and listening devices to keep a better eye on things, and to catch any inconvenient truths which might otherwise fall between the cracks and vanish, and I should be more than willing to share such recordings with you and yours."
  13. I agree completely. If the issue needs to be revisited, we can do so in a more appropriate thread.
  14. "Vesley," Victoria said as she gathered up her things, "do you haff some method of transportation? If not, I should be able to carry you vhile I fly us to vhere Dark Star is vaiting."
  15. I believe this is the Initiative order:
  16. "I don't mind waitin' with you, sweetness," he drooled. "Wired?," the teen repeated. "Well, I might know some guys who can hook you up with a lil' somethin' to keep that feelin'."
  17. Anything more you folks want to add here before we shuffle off to Pier 18?
  18. Avenger, Electra, and Quote all gone for the weekend?! The boards will be quiet!
  19. And now I've realized what a combat monster 'regular' Avalon can be, since he can activate 5 ranks in Super-Speed and then (due to the semi-Independent nature in which Boost works) switch his array to something else (like "Aspect of the Wittigo" or "Obsidian Blade") and have the full effects of both. His No Action Regen from Bruised & Injury can also be a tad problematic, as mentioned in this thread at the ATT. (Yes, it's long; reading is good for you.) (Yes, I'm only noticing this now; as much as I'd like otherwise, I am not wholly familiar with every character here, especially ones I didn't do an approval on )
  20. The Boost (in his now-pumped Magic 15) gives him 6 ranks in Super-Speed (as he now has Boost 30, and +30pp grants Super-Speed 6). And a Device he's wearing gives him a 7th rank in Super-Speed. Super-Speed 7 = +28 initiative, +5 more (+33 total) from his Dex 20. (I'll edit his 'regular' char sheet to show how the Boost works a bit better.)
  21. Der Mathemagician Power Level: PL 10 (150/150 pp) Trade-Offs: -2 Attack for +2 Save Difficulty. -2 Defense for +2 Toughness. [floatr][/floatr] Appearance: Same as Earth-Prime Doc, except when active as a hero his lab coat has a silver-mirror finish, and he wears a silver mask that covers the upper half of his face. He also wears eight talismanic rings over thin white gloves. His magical effects look like whirls and spirals of multicolored light. Background/History: Physics and Mathematics were this iteration of Doktor Archeville's preferred sciences, but while in university an odd thing occurred. A fellow student, an attractive girl whose nerdishness often put people off, struck up a conversation with Archeville one evening, and revealed her own personal project: noting the parallels between the occult and mathematics and physics, using symbolic logic to cut through the archaic jargon. Her ideas were intriguing to Archeville, and mirrored some of his own theories about so-called "mages" really tapping into some oddly recurrent metahuman ability. He offered to help her, but as he did he became more and more engrossed in the ideas. After a few months he dropped out of the university and secluded himself in his research, living off delivery food and black coffee. He'd work until he passed out form exhaustion, then started right back as soon as he awoke. The veil parted at last. Viktor chanted strange words for hours as he filled legal pads with diagrams that twisted into the fourth and fifth dimensions before his blurring eyesight, and for one shining, shattering moment, he knew. He understood the cycle of creation and destruction, and the path from spirit to matter and back again. He knew The First One's own equations for making universes. And then the moment passed, and Viktor passed out. When he woke up a day later, he tried to remember that moment of perfect clarity, and couldn't. His notes held mere fragments of theories and procedures. Viktor wept that he had lost The First One's equations. After resting further, though, he realized just how much he did remember. Spinning circles and spirals held the key; power moved in gyres and vortices, in and our and 'round about. Viktor carefully drew a diagram, said a word, and laughed as a whirlwind of power erupted from the paper and blasted through his ceiling. And then he froze. He needed more books, more research material, more resources... but how to get them? He could just take them... but there was far too much risk of getting caught, and thrown into prison, where he would have less than he had now. Ah, but as a hero, he would have more leeway, and more chances for collaboration with others (not that he wanted much collaboration; he preferred working alone, but he did acknowledge how useful it could be). He decided to take on an alternate identity, Der Mathemagician, since he knew most people would not be ready for the few universal truths he knew. And in the cold, dark voids between spaces, unspeakable entities twitched and convulsed in something approximating delighted anticipation, for another key to their release had been forged. Personality/Motivation: This Archeville is deeply conflicted, perhaps more so than most other versions. A part of him doesn't care what damage his quest for absolute knowledge may cause, and pays no heed to human laws. But another part knows that seeking eternal and infinite truth requires compassion and mercy, and would be concealed from those who were insufficiently enlightened. Curiously, while what he does is magic (albeit a very strange and weird form), he does not see it as such. He sees it as 'merely' an extremely advanced form of hypermathematics, one which anyone with sufficient brainpower could use. Quote: "I vonder vhat vould happen if..." Powers/Tactics: Der Mathemagician has invented several spells based on vortices of space distortion and mystical power. He casts these spells using incantory equations which he traces in the air, and rings braided from wire and set with gems bearing mystical equations. The spells can redirect energy to protect him from harm, redirect attacks toward other targets, or move him or other people through space. His standard attacks as a Vortex Blast of mystical energy and a Vortex Trap that spin targets at high speeds, eventually knocking them out through dizziness. Der Mathemagician also reflects attacks from one foe to strike another, and teleports enemies into danger (such as teleporting non-flying powerhouses straight up into the air, or moving one foe into the path of another enemy's attack). His unique fusion of occultism and advance physics makes Der Mathemagician one of the rare few practitioners of technomancy. Viktor combines electrical and mechanical devices with talismanic gems and mystic sigils for short-lived but diverse magical effects. He also uses the ready-made energies and mystic geometry of city streets, buildings, and utilities in bizarre rituals. As with his basic magic, Der Mathemagician's technomancy (Artificer & Ritualist feats) specializes in effects that manipulate space and dimension or redirect energy. Der Mathemagician has worked on teams, often filling a support role by teleporting unconscious teammates away so they have a chance to recover away from the fight, though his space-warping powers and inventions are also useful at bypassing guards and defenses so he and his teammates can achieve a goal without a fight. There is a far darker side to Archeville's magic: every spell he casts, every ritual he enacts, causes a miniscule weakening of the barriers between this world and the far realms where pseudonatural horrors reside. Complications: Fame/Infamy (in Germany), Rivalry (professional, with other dimensional researchers), Secret Identity, Scientific Curiosity/Thirst for Knowledge. 22. So it looks like the Initiative order (if it matters) is 47 -- Vestige 29 -- Captain Knievel 23 -- Ronin 18 -- Belphegor 12 -- Troops 1 -- Malice
  23. Wait, weren't you the one who was going to be overseeing it?
  24. Invisible Castle be back up! Belphegor's initiative = 18
