Dr. Archeville stopped pacing again. To Dark Star, it appeared that Dr. Archeville suddenly became another man. "'Don't look'? 'Don't look'?!" he repeated as he stomped towards his doppelganger. His boots clomped rather loudly against the metal grates which served as the room's floor, "vhat manner of veak-villed ape do you take me for? Vhat are you trying to hide from us? From me?! Vhat did you do to yourself?!" By now he'd reached The Archeville, and in one surprisingly fluid motion knocked over a lamp to shine on him while grabbing his cloak/robe/covering and pulling it off to reveal.....

Vaster than Empires and More Slow (OOC)
Dr Archeville replied to Avenger Assembled's topic in Archives
With his Public ID and Fame Complications, Doc's home address can easily be found with a DC 10 Knowledge (Current Events or Popular Culture) check. Or by just looking for big energy disturbances in north-east Freedom. ;) -
Let Freedom City howl in despair, for I have returned!

Hurm.... *retreats to the Ref Cave*
-
The Refs are discussing this, and have been for most of the time I was off on vacation.
-
Yeah, what AngryDurf said. Five Alt Forms really should be more than enough, I'd think.
-
Shaen's right on the Temporal Limbo. (Since it's not from the Core book, we've been lax in adding it to the House Rules.) Concealed x5 I'd be leery of, since A) Isolated should be enough for he "you can't get to it," and I've never seen any HQ with that much Concealed.
-
If Sonic were a common energy attack form, yes. Since it's an uncommon form, used by less than a handful of characters (PC or otherwise), I'd say it'd be a drawback.
-
That looks decent, Ecal. Alright, since it seems combats may be starting, let's get some initiative rolls from everyone. Also, while I'm away on vacation all week, Avenger'll be looking after things.
-
Alright, first off, while I'm gone all week, Avenger'll be keeping an eye on things. Secondly... now that Malice is up, and Arrowhawk's awake (and can share info), I'm guessing a fight may soon break out. So let's get some initiative rolls from everyone, and we are now going round-by-round. Thirdly, the following chars get extra Hero Points: Arrowhawk: 1 extra due to being asploded. Malice: 1 extra due to being asploded.

Ace Danger The WASP family actually refuses to go with Ace, insisting that they go back into the house for more stuff. Before Ace can react, the mother actually does run back into thew house! Arrowhawk Is healed by Dark Star and is awake, though has a piece of shrapnel lodged in his leg. He is then 'ported away to the Scarab's Lair like a piece of luggage. Avenger Does in fact hear someone, a voice calling out. A... woman's voice? It was hard to tell amongst the roar and chaos, and the smoke which was surely doing horrible things to her throat and lungs. Oddly, she did not seem to be calling at the top of her lungs. A bit of searching finds her, upstairs... with ten cats, all completely freaked out of their tiny little minds. The woman herself looks much like the Crazy Cat Lady from The Simpsons. Dark Star Finds and heals Arrowhawk, and then pushes him through a portal to Scarab's Lair, just as the fourth body below him.... Malice Awakens! And is in incredible agony! And is at the bottom of a 50-foot smoking crater where his house used to be, and... something spewing forth from some broken pipes above him is forming a puddle at his side! Phantom Finds she has little trouble in closing the small transdimensional tears. This part of the crisis, at least, she can handle with some proficiency. Scarab The Scarab abides. Sen Finds the source of the calls he heard, a young and buxom woman who was trapped in a ring of flaming debris. (Malice awakens before Dark Star closes his portal, so the portal to Scarab's Lair is still open. I thought Ecal might like to have a chance to partake in any fight that breaks out.) (Due to damage suffered by their equipment, the powers in both Arrowhawk's and Malice's Devices are Unreliable, failing to function on a roll of 1-10.)

How many posts ago was that? You expect me to remember everything? (If you could re-post it, I'd appreciate that greatly.)

July 10th, 2009: Estelle "Gossamer" de Havilland and Doktor Archeville have a pleasant meal out at der Biergarten. ("When They Hear Oom Pah Pah!")

After a bit more chat in the Chat, I'm ready to give her first approval. -
Moira - Doctor Zhou - PL13 Villain (NPC Tier 2)
Dr Archeville replied to Moira Morley's topic in Archived Characters
Went over some stat stuff in Chat, looks mostly fine. But there's a few fluff issues. Biggest one being the early uses of the term "Geneticist." If she's to be a Steampunk Doctor, she (and those working with her) shouldn't be using that word (the word "genetics" was coined in 1905 by British biologist William Bateson). -
None of the listed configurations for your VP appear to lend well to an "increased Sense Motive" thing. Detect Weakness is a Notice check, so I'll need that, too. And since it's only Acute, not Acute & Analytical (like the Detect Weakness from UP has), it won't get you as much as what UP says it'd give.
-
That'd be better, provided you remember to play him as being very paranoid about anything getting near his ears. Also, Where? It's already listed under his Dance Form.
-
I didn't catch that, either. Plus, what Quote said -- "waiting for a big distraction" -- isn't actually a Plan. At all. Especially given that Knievel has no idea that either Malice or Ronin are on the scene.

Archeville's brilliant smile faded when she spoke of the "family shame," but it returned when she mentioned her niece. "It is god you haff somevon in your family to share your gifts mit. As you may know, I am not so lucky: I am an only child, I haff no nieces or nephews or cousins -- dat I am avare of -- mein mother died in childbirth, und mein father..." He paused a moment, "vell, he und I had a large falling-out many years ago, in regards to mein abilities. Und now ve barely speak even vonce a year." Now his eyes were starting to get a bit moist, though he was already wiping them with a tissue, "but, I did not ask to be born mit dese abilities, I simply do de best dat I can mit dem. Und I do consider meinself qvite lucky dat mein abilities are fairly subtle in appearance: I know of von metahuman in Vancouver who has powers similar to mine, but also has a noticeably enlarged cranium und a complete lack of hair!" He shook his head vigorously, letting his own platinum hair cascade down his shoulders.

A simple dislike isn't enough to be a Complication. It needs to be on the level of, say, Storm's aversion to enclosed spaces. And it'd need to be broader -- "bugs in ears" is too narrow. "Bugs" or "anything in his ears (except earbuds)" would be more appropriate.

Moira - Doctor Zhou - PL13 Villain (NPC Tier 2)
Dr Archeville replied to Moira Morley's topic in Archived Characters
I guess my main issue is I don't see why she needs to be so very powerful (250pp!). The Mad Scientist Archetype in the Core Book would seem to do just as well, and that's only 137pp; bringing that up to maybe 180 should be more than enough. -
Scarab flies at 50mph. Garbage trucks go slightly slower than that (in my experience). She'll reach you... before you get a chance to do your thing. (Act cool! Maybe she won't suspect anything!)
-
So I'm thinking that now's the part where one of us shines a light on/tears the robe off of The Archeville as we shout "what aren't you telling us?!?!!?" And then there'd be the shock and the horror and the OMG!!!! Cy, would you like the honors, or shall I?

You both FAIL. Continue posting. Nothing to see here.
