  1. No. If you want to come back at full/near-full health when you resurrect, just buy more Regeneration to up the frequency of recovery checks.
  2. That was actually one of the calmer action scenes. My thoughts: I'm torn. Pros * The special effects were top-notch, which is to be expected from a Michael Bay/Steven Spielberg film. I hope they win the Oscar for SFX this year; the first TF movie lost the SFX Oscar to The Golden Compass's talking polar bears! (ILM said they'd not done work that groundbreaking since Jurassic Park.) * Soundwave (even though they didn't do the electronic altering of Frank Welker's voice so he ended up sounding more like Dr. Claw), Ravage, and "Reedman" (the combined form of Ravage's "hairballs"). * Jetfire (or is that LARGE HAMfire! "You know who my father was? A wheel! The FIRST wheel! And you know what he transformed into? NOTHING! And he was damn proud of it!") * Scalpel/The Doctor. (Oh, like that's a surprise....) For a 'Con the size of a microscope, he has an impressive power of command over the Constructicons. ("I need parts... kill the little one!") Cons * SFX overload. * All the stupid, stupid crude humor. Who's it aimed at? The folks who grew up watching the original TF 'toon? They're in their mid-30s by now. Their kids? I lost count of the number of times a kid in the audience turned to their parent and asked "what are balls?" or "what's a scrotum?". The Adult Swim male 18-25 demographic? They're already there for Megan Fox & to see giant robots duking it out. * The Twins. Some see them as horrible black stereotypes. Others say they're Wiggers, white 'bots trying to act like horrible black stereotypes. I say they're annoying Jar-Jar-esque "comic relief" and the movie could've done without them. (But the kids in the audience seemed to love 'em.... and I will concede that shooting yourself out of Devastator's throat and half his face was awesome.) * Actually, the whiplash "we're a zany slapstick comedy! No, now we're a deadly serious alien invasion! No, now we're back to slapstick!" mood of both TF movies annoyed me. (Is it so odd that Transformers Animated balances the comedy/seriousness so much more effectively?) * My one real complaint about the Star Trek film also shows up here: all the Cue the Sun moments.
  3. Remember when the 'Cons were raining down on Earth, and slamming into cities all over the place, including Paris? The end of that scene showed a 'Con snatching them up. They didn't just "show up out of nowhere," they were brought in as hostages.
  4. Most folks here have heard of our Gold Status. But now there's a new bling in town! Announcing "Platinum" Player Status! In an effort to reward players that have demonstrated ridiculous longevity and an inhuman commitment by actively role-playing the same character over a monstrously long span of months, we will be awarding players who have earned 60+ PPs with a single character "Platinum" Status. What does it mean to be "Platinum"? It means OPTIONS. Option 1) A third PC, of any PL between 6-10, with 15 pp/level. Option 2) A second PC, starting at PL 12/180pp. Option 3) 15 free ranks of Equipment (yes, free Equipment 15 [75 equipment points]). Obviously not all Options are equally valid for all players. So it goes. So . . . a big thanks to our dedicated players! Keep up the good work. :)
  5. Twenty-twenty-twenty four hours to gooooo.....
  6. The prosecutor next calls Dr. Grete Grubach, from the Providence Asylum. She had helped counsel the winged Metahuman woman he had attacked, and her testimony mainly focused on that. She also commented on the clear prejudice he has against Metahumans, based on comments he'd made to the woman he had assaulted ("The woman reported that he declared he was attacking her 'because she was a freak',"), comments he'd made when he crashed Dr. Archeville's lecture, and some of the bill boards he had set up around Freedom over the past several months.
  7. It is being televised, though the cameras are in the faaar back (with really good zoom lenses).
  8. Mystical Awareness only lets you know of active mystical effects. If Scarab's not using any of her powers, then she won't "look" any different from any other woman.
  9. ... I can work with that. Alright, Warmonger, go ahead and make an IC post describing how/why Ronin's getting wrangled into this.
  10. Fire Lord Ozai is really The Joker (on lots of Valium)! Sokka's Master is the T-1000!
  11. So it's a "Ronin sees sociopathic semi-famous wealthy body builder on trial, decides to break him out in the hopes that he pays him lots of $$$" deal? This gets back to my original question, though: why would Ronin be expecting Knievel to pay? (Note: I'm not asking whether or not Knievel will pay, I'm asking why Ronin expects him to pay, and not, say, simply run off, or turn around and shoot him in the face.)
  12. I'll consider it. You'll need to answer the following: How did Ronin learn of Knievel's situation? (Would Knievel have Ronin's contact info? Doesn't seem likely to me.) Why would Ronin help Knievel? (He doesn't seem the type to help crazy narcissistic psychos.)
  13. As part of his Cannon? No. As a separate Device? Yes, if you can afford the points for it, and find someone to build it for you (or find one to steal). "To Base Only" would be a valid flaw (it's the Anchor flaw from UP)... but Knievel doesn't have an HQ... b/c no Ref's approved it yet... b/c we won't approve anything new for you until Knievel's Trial is done and we know if you're in jail or not (or busy with Something Else).
  14. It does indeed. Here's your second (re-)approval.
  15. that would be... interesting. Questions to Answer: Why is she doing this? Why is Claremont taking her in? (She has no experience teaching, right?)
  16. Tom lets out a strangled shriek before passing out. About five seconds later, he comes to, and tried to twist his head so as to wipe off the blood trickling out his ears and down his nose.
  17. Under Equipment, your Swords seem... odd. Can you explain what that construction is supposed to be? You appear to have too many points in the Ninja configuration of your VP.
  18. And he gets... 18, failing by 7. He's bruised & stunned for a round.
  19. Opposed Will save is... 27. EDIT: Just read Shaen's IC post, so I'm gonna say that if Scarab can Intimidate Tom, he'll forgo this first Will save.
  20. Cheese! *ahem* We're actually not looking at he Moon, not at this time. We're flying to the Moon at full speed, then DS puts up his full cloak and we go in to Earth, monitoring radio/tv chatter for a bit (to try and get a basic lay of the land) before zooming in on places Doppelganger!Doc might be.
  21. Approximately 48 hours left to get those songs submitted!
  22. Yes, Tom is effectively cursing you all in Klingonese. ;)
  23. As Avenger had been listening to Vulture/Tom, it suddenly dawned on him where he'd heard that language before: it was Sarrisian, the language of the warrior reptile-people from Galaxy Quest. "Daniel," Vulture/Tom spat, "That coward's name is Daniel Levinson." The catatonic/unconscious Shark remained non-responsive.
  24. I've no problem with that.
  25. The prosecution brings in their first witness, Officer Vinnie Grigori, who'd had numerous run-ins with Knievel (and sported several minor facial lacerations and bruises to prove it). He was present at Knievel's assault on Precinct 13 on February 16th (he was the first one Knievel attacked and KO'd), was one of the responders to his assault of a winged Metahuman woman on March 12th, and was also a responder to the destructive Midtown antics Knievel, Malice, and an unidentified Metahuman were involved in on March 22nd (it was his police car that Knievel landed on). He was not present to arrest Knievel after his dealings with Dr. Archeville at HIT, but he was one of the officers who helped book Knievel. After answering the prosecution's questions -- which consisted mainly of retelling those events -- the defense was allowed to cross-examine him.
