  1. As soon as Odysseus had turned to his wife, Archeville fingers flew as he adjusted his E.S. again to send a quick gravitic pulse message to Dark Star. "Danger. Do not go far. Keep ears open." He hoped that Dark Star realized that by 'ears' he meant 'your assorted electromagnetic and gravitic senses.' As they flew, Archeville nodded along with Odysseus' words, and could not help but look admiringly at the ultramodern skyscrapers. "Roman defeated Gladiator? Your Gladiator must haff been qvite different from our Centurion, or else your August Roman must haff been very different from ours, for I do not see how such a ding vould be possible."
  2. Oh, I'd expect most would be involved. Mainly asking to see whose available & interested on both the character and player side.
  3. Soo... is that it for this?
  4. Ooh! Ooh! Doc knows! :P
  5. *hands Malice one bullet, which is moar DAKKA than he currently has*
  6. Free action to switch from Enhanced Intelligence to Enhanced Charisma (Cha is now 20/+5). And +2 from Quark's assistance. And +2 from "doing something intimidating" (okayed by Croa in chat) And using Beginner's Luck (and a Hero Point) to gain 5 ranks in Intimidate. Intimidate check = 1d20+14 = 24! (note: link to die roll shows a +7 modifier, as I made it before realizing all the stops I had to pull out. The die roll itself was a 10.)
  7. Ember Paw & Jos Terhune. Early Sunday morning (Sept 28th, around 2:00am), 2 days before the Delivery at Pier 18. Jos's Home/Shoppe, Riverside, Downtown Freedom. The moon is a waning crescent, only 1% visible. 69 degrees, 96% humidity, 4mph ESE winds, overcast. "Yes, yes, of course. I-" When he turned back to face the werefox, it was already gone. "Hunh." All things considered, I'd say tonight went fairly well. Jos went in and retired for the evening.
  8. A Charisma penalty, actually. And no ranks in Bluff, either. I need to stop hanging around you non-duplicitous types ;)
  9. Oh, it seems that while Terhune was "away on business," there was a rather large explosion in our neighborhood.
  10. Weird, I've not heard of anyone else experiencing any problems. Good to see you back. MBCE, you still with us, or did you go on another biker's run?
  11. Setting E.S. to... nothing. He's going for a "Good Cop, Bad Cop" routine (with him being the latter), and hopes either Quark or Dark Star picks up on it.
  12. Archeville stood, smiled and winked at Quark, then began walking over to the pinned crooks. As he did, he adjusted his E.S., and several nasty spikes and crackling energy probes and other very nasty-looking things slid in and out. "An excellent qvestion, Herr Star. I suggest ve examine de frontal und parietal lobes of deir brains for de answers...."
  13. 2 -- 1 to speak any language (but just one at a time), and 1 to understand all.
  14. You get it. Also, Quote, you have a PM.
  15. I was joking -- neither of them play chess. Yet.
  16. *scraps plans for the Archeville/Belphegor chess match*
  17. Also, a confession on my part: I've never watched any court show like Law & Order or Boston Legal -- most 'crime' shows I watch ares one like CSI or NCIS, which focuses on getting the evidence for a trial, but not the trial itself -- so I'm a bit of a fish out of water here. If anyone has advice/comments/criticisms, I'm all ears. And, yes, Wealth 2 is easily enough to get a top-notch DA.
  18. Let the commencements... beginulate! IC Thread OOC thread
  19. The OOC thread for Captain Knievel's trial! Alright, first we need to do some pre-trial stuff. Well, Quote does, mostly. A) Knievel's secret ID is gone; when the cops were processing him, at least one recognized him as "rich superstar bodybuilder Taylor Rogers," and when his masked & unmasked faces were shown on tv broadcasts some folks who knew Taylor called in to see what was going on. He now has the Public ID complication, and the Criminal Record complication. Will Rogers hire his own Defense Attorney, or use one provided by the courts? (You'll be posting for the DA, though I may PM you some pointers.) C) How will he plead? If pleading innocent, how will his defense be set up? If pleading guilty, any plea bargaining? The answers to these can be posted in the IC thread. Same goes for everyone else -- post IC how your character reacted to the news, any pre-trial actions they take and so on. My next post will be for when the trial actually starts.
  20. Date: March 25th, 2009 (a Wednesday) A chilly date: high of only 50 (five degrees below average), though with clear skies all day. Justice may be blind, but the People are not. For months the man known as Captain Knievel had been terrorizing Freedom City, but now he had finally been caught... but even apparently unrepentant villains get their day in court. And this court was quickly becoming a media circus, in no small part because the news broadcast images of Knievel's masked and unmasked faces, and his unmasked face was that of rich superstar bodybuilder Taylor Rogers. The assorted crimes Knievel/Rogers was accused of -- including aggravated assault, hate crime, and terrorism -- were enough to warrant a trial in the federal court, in the handsome neo-Classical building newly rebuilt near Freedom Plaza. Presiding would be Judge Thomas Nakamura, a fairly young judge (in Federal Judge terms; he was in his mid-40s) who'd seen precedent-setting cases involving superheroes and super-powered criminals. The defense attorney suggested was not sure if this would work in their favor or against it: Nakamura is an ambitious man, with his eye on the U.S. Supreme Court, so he enjoyed playing to the media almost as much as Knievel himself. But two days separated the arrest and the trial, and much prep work had to be done.
  21. So... this is Captain Knievel's home dimension?
  22. Asking what I'd do instead of outright telling me what he'd do? Kid's either polite, cautious, or slow. Jos replied, keeping his voice low, "well, typically, a salesman in this situation would do one of two things. He would either try to shoo the customers out, though in as polite a way as possible so as not to discourage them from coming back to purchase something, or he would start to engage them in conversation, to get a better feel for them and attempt to steer them to make a purchase. Though, in that one's case," he nodded towards the younger man, "a third option -- staying close and keeping one eye on them -- becomes available." "Sadly," he said, "I am woefully understaffed, and cannot do all which I would need to, cannot talk to that woman while maintaining an adequate eye on the younger fellow."
  23. Setting E.S. to Super-Senses 5 (Acute Analytical Radius Tracking Detect Dimensional Frequency). Or something like that. And, no, he doesn't have a "Transdimensional Communication & Transfer System"... but he could probably build one Plus, the readings can be put to other uses ("the sites of all these battles has traces of otherdimensional radiation, of the same frequency as Odysseus' home dimension!")
