  1. "I am very interested in seeing vhat other vonders abound on dis vorld, Herr Odysseus," Archeville began, "dough I am afraid you caught my... companion und I at a bad time, as ve vere in de midst of some critical experiments. Ve must get back soon -- not immediately, but soon enough dat ve can not afford de time necessary to take a detailed tour of your vondrous city. I dink ve can spare enough time to do von fly-over. I am sure you understand, being a man of science yourself, how time-sensitive some projects can be. I vould be eager to come back at a latter date, dough, vhen I can devote more time to seeing und absorbing all you haff to offer. Und in de meantime, I can run vhat you haff shown me by some of mein other colleagues, und see if I can bring dem on board." As he talked he had retrieved his Electromagnetic Screwdriver from his pocket and had begun to fiddle with it, "und now dat ve are here, I can use dis to take dimensional readings vhich I can feed into de Transdimensional Communication und Transfer System in mein laboratory on mein Earth to keep in contact."
  2. My reservation about making an outright ban is that it'd mean a player can't have his/her/its heroic and villainous characters in the same thread. Dr. Archeville couldn't be in a fight with Belphegor. High Note couldn't be in a fight with Matthias. Mercy couldn't be in a fight with Quiver. Mongrel Angel couldn't be in a fight with Exile. Red Star couldn't be in a fight Malice.
  3. Knievel eventually went to a fourth door, and found a room very much like the third. "You haff shown some impressive -- if straightforvard -- skill in bare-fisted melee combat, but let us see how vell you do mit your new und improved 'Adrenaline Cannon'. Und, do try to show some creativity -- you vould not vant to bore de audience, vould you?" From the far side of the room, Knievel could hear movement....
  4. STAGE FOUR Very much like Stage Three, but you only use your fancy Cannon. Be creative Part 1 -- Defense 16 Part 2 -- Defense 20 Part 3 -- Defense 24 Part 4 -- Defense 30
  5. I'll be starting this over the weekend, possibly as early as tonight.
  6. Yes, but as we've already discussed, he might be in jail at the time. ;)
  7. Alright, show of hands/flipper/tentacles/whatever: What heroic characters would be willing & able to respond to a MASSIVE EXPLOSION in a Riverside suburb on a Sunday morning? And what villains would take advantage of the chaos?
  8. Slight change in plans, I should be around fairly regularly this weekend.
  9. April 30th, 2008 I'm back. I don't exactly know how -- Hell Lords know I tried to get out numerous times -- but this time, it worked. There aren't words for what I experienced; I have tried, but everything I've thought to say pales in comparison to the actual experiences. I'm still in a bit of shock that I'm back here now -- and more in shock to see the date. It would seem only two months passed here while I was away. For me, it was twenty years! But the years were beneficial to me. I'm far stronger and tougher and faster now than I was before, but more importantly, I learned a lot while away. I know better ways, subtler ways to get the things I want. It will take some time to set things up -- I have to establish more contacts, more connections, and make some new faces, and I do not want the ones who put me in that place knowing I am back -- but it will pay off spectacularly.
  10. Hrm, given the way you wrote your posts, it's kinda moot for me to roll Toughness saves for 'em. But I'm fine with that. *plots Stage Four*
  11. Hunh: a tad more mature than I was expecting. Still, I know damn well it's best not to judge by outward appearance. "Welcome, welcome, both of you!," he said cheerfully, still with his Salesman's Smile. "I have some tea brewing," he nodded towards the steaming tea set on one of the counters, which he'd cleared off in preparation for their meeting, "though if you would prefer something a bit stronger I have some fine Holland gin I would be willing to share."
  12. Whoa, that means we're down two Refs until Monday. And my 'net access is going to be spotty this weekend, as I shall be out of town, dog-sitting for relatives.
  13. Archeville was quite glad he'd been practicing telepathic communication with Scarab lately. His superhumanly fast mind had proven capable of carrying out two distinct conversations at once, one mental and one verbal, and training with her had honed this ability. "Prince Ranaga? Lord DuLac? I confess to some confusion, Herr Odysseus: if dose two are whom I dink dey are -- und given whom I haff seen so far" he looked over and nodded towards Stratos and Medea, "I have little doubt -- den it seems de highest echelons of dis vorld are populated by individuals whom, in mein vorld, are vanted und unrepentant criminals, known as Crimson Katana und Baron Samedi, respectively" He looked back to Stratos and Medea, and made a small apologetic bow, "I mean no offense, of course. I know dis is a different vorld, und it is entirely possible dat de events vhich lead dose people on mein vorld to become criminals may never haff occurred to you, here."
  14. ... Archeville is not as crafty (7). *HP to re-roll* (2 HPs now) Archeville is craftier (23) ;)
  15. I believe Exile's only criminal/evil actions in this dimension have thus far consisted of A) talking to a demon and planning a theft beating up Reaper
  16. Guess how many Str skill there are (in the Core book)? Exactly one: Climb. Perform checks aren't about how well you know a piece of music or how technically proficient you are (though those are factors), they're primarily to see how others react to your performance, which is why it's a Cha check. Any (good) businessman would tell you Intelligence and Wisdom are both important: Int to know the rules and laws, and how to use or circumvent them as needed (which is more under Know/Business & Know/Civics), but Wis covers things like confidence in making (or resisting) deals and insight/gut feelings for which way the economy/markets are going (like Sense Motive, but applied to large intangible forces rather than people).
  17. A suggestion on the Well-Informed thing: that feat is based off Gather Information, but as the Gather Info skill says, people you ask about may know you're asking about them unless you take a -20 penalty. Ace may know about Exile, but Exile may just as well know that people who've been asking about supervillains know about him.
  18. You're correct, he pointed out two other shoppers, and one appears to possibly be contemplating some shoplifting. What Quark does... is completely up to you. You can shoo them out, wait to see if they leave on their own, suggest some way he could keep a better eye on the place, jury-rig some device and shoot them in the face, whatever. It's all up to you.
  19. Edited my last IC post so Doc acknowledges Quark's presence in Alex's car.
  20. Sand? Did you still want to do this, or did you change your mind? I'm fine wither way (though if you did change you mind, I would like us to give this some proper closure rather than just shut it down).
  21. Is the "Super Memory" the same thing another char had, letting you Take 20 on Knowledge checks as if you had a Library on you at all times? That second Benefit... no. Benefits typically let you switch the attributes for one skill. So you could do something like "Use Int instead of Cha for Perform/Keyboard."
  22. Hrrmmm... Bluff check to keep a poker face up?
  23. Remember, you get three chances for each target.
  24. Please don't do that: we need to keep all rolls on record in either the IC or OOC threads.
