  1. Huzzah!
  2. Okay, I've locked the old thread. Did you want to start the new thread, Mark?
  3. Ah, now here's a perfect opportunity to start setting the stage. Jos leaned in a bit, "ah, yes, of course, of course. Well..." He looked up at the two customers, then leaned back to Cale, speaking in a lowered tone, "I do not think either of these are truly interested in buying -- they have been milling about for some time, and I think that younger one there is actually looking for a, I believe the phrase is, 'five-finger discount'. But the store lacks sufficient camera coverage, so I cannot just go into the back, because then I could not keep an eye on them." The younger customer he indicated was a young man, early- to mid-twenties, with a pale complexion and greasy black hair. He wore what looked like clothes a Goth had thrown out, and seemed quite nervous; he was at the moment looking over a set of teacups. The other customer, an older woman in powder blue, was admiring a two-foot-tall statue of Cupid set in the shoppe's front window display. "What is that saying? 'Patience is a virtue'?"
  4. "A new supplier? Splendid!" he exclaimed. "Set up the meeting: I'll have some... personal business to attend to over the next few weeks which may take me away from the shoppe for brief periods -- nothing as long as my recent absence, I assure you! -- but I will be sure to make time to meet with this new supplier." Yes, much to do: cults to set up, cults to take down, souls to taint, evil to spread. Busy, busy, busy! "Your mother? Wants to see what sort of man her son works for, eh?" He chuckled, "Fine, fine, I would love to meet her. Set up a place and time." "Now, tell me about that Ms. Mecullen...."
  5. Congrats on graduation and the impending marriage, Barnum!
  6. Speaking out loud... to his house's computer systems, which activated the full sensors Doc has Skill Mastery for that skill, so Taking 10, he gets... a 37.
  7. Welcome aboard!
  8. Reminder of the sensors Doc's house has: acute analytical extended 2 radius ranged tracking detect energy [radio sense] acute analytical extended radius ranged detect mutant powers [radio sense] plus regular visual cameras
  9. Archeville had been in the middle of testing Dark Star's telekinesis-- in particular, how precise he could get by trying to thread a needle -- when the burst transmission came across. Archeville spat out something unintelligible in German, then spoke a string of commanding words into the air. The large pillar of monitors in the center of Archeville's laboratory flickered off from the scores of things they were monitoring to focus on the source of the burst transmission. "... Daedalus?"
  10. "Years und years of prrractice," he said, again in his exaggerated German accent. Then he laughed. "It's entirely your choice if you want to maintain a facade as I do," he resumed his unaccented speech, "I do not have a 'secret identity' per se, but this does help set up a bit of a screen between myself and others, and sometimes that screen is welcome. But you, you have a fully-covering suit! You could have two identities, if you wanted, if you felt the upkeep would be worth it."
  11. Geckoman, High Note, and Quark. Thursday evening (Sept 25th), 5 days before the Delivery at Pier 18. Liberty Park, Parkside, Downtown Freedom. The moon is a waning crescent, only 15% visible. 64 degrees, 20mph NE winds, and there's a light rain which has been pouring for the past two hours. Jos shifts his umbrella from one hand to the other, and flexes the now-freed hand to work out some stiffness. "I do not mean to sound rude, but have any of you done this sort of thing before? A... I believe the term is 'stake out'?" These kids have some tactical sense. Good: I wouldn't want to be spending all this time with a bunch of green wannabes. Ember Paw & Jos Terhune. Early Sunday morning (Sept 28th, around 2:00am), 2 days before the Delivery at Pier 18. Jos's Home/Shoppe, Riverside, Downtown Freedom. The moon is a waning crescent, only 1% visible. 69 degrees, 96% humidity, 4mph ESE winds, overcast. "Oh, really?," Terhune replied, a sly smile breaking across his face. "Should I have need of you, how would I go about claling you?" I do believe Vulpes and I are going to need to have a little talk.
  12. Doc is a celebrity! 8-) ;)
  13. "Yes, but I do need you to say so. Formalities und all dat." Legend walked to the side door, still talking as he walked, his voice never fading nor increasing in volume. "Behind dis door, you vill find a corridor. Mitin de corridor are doors, doors dat lead to various small rooms vhere your skills vill be tested. For dis visit, you may enter five such doors vhere you vill be assigned a task. Each task vill be a test of your abilities. Sometimes, dey vill test your strengths, vhile other times, they vill test your veaknesses. Regardless of vhich door you enter, I'm sure you vill learn someding new about yourself." When Knievel opened the door, a long corridor opened before him, with alternating doors on each side. The doors were unmarked and seemed identical; only the present door stood out from the rest. "Once you haff completed a room's task, you vill be allowed to return to the corridor. There, you vill find refreshments waiting for you. Once you are ready, you can enter another door und begin de next task. Vonce you have entered five rooms, you vill be finished und unable to enter another on dis trip." Legend turned to Knievel once again. "Velcome to mein neighborhood, Mister Rogers."
  14. All edited in, as well as May 15th, 2009: Darian "Quark" Cale happens upon a nice little shoppe in Riverside, run by a man he's helped before: Jos Terhune. Each has something the other wants.... (An Amazing Bargain... but for Whom?) Waiting for timeline entries for Brainiacs of Freedom and Days of High Adventure. And for several things Captain Knievel's in, which are contingent upon the outcome of this thread.
  15. 1. I'm inclined to say 'no,' since regular cops aren't a threat to Knievel. 2. I'm not sure. :?
  16. Aroowhawk, Dark Star and Doktor Archeville see police two cruisers speed by as they pursue Captain Knievel.
  17. D'oh! Yeah, here's his first approval.
  18. re: the Diplomacy check I made. PCs can't have their attitudes changed by Interaction skills, I just wanted to show a rough gauge of how diplomatic/friendly he seems.
  19. Inventor? No wonder he was drawn to this. He may be useful. Very useful. Jos takes a step back, quite startled at the tiny robot. "Oh, my, my, my! How exquisite! Is this your main area of expertise, robots? Or are you a more general agent of the mechanical sciences? And just what else do you have planned? If it is not something top-secret, that is...." He traced a large S on the notebook with his left forefinger. The man seemed rather pleasant, moreso than Quark remembered from his prior interactions (though that was many months ago, and he was a tad disturbed back then).
  20. I hear the season finale of that show will feature Pirate vs. Ninja.
  21. Not really, since Mind Switch is explained as working exactly like Possession. I.e., silent on the attack/defense, saves, and feats thing, and with all the PL issues I mentioned above. (Besides, it's a Plot Device power, there will be no save against the effect. )
  22. Conferring with Refs. Though your last sentence seems odd, since that's how they're described in the book.
  23. I thought their powers remained with their bodies in that ep? (Though since Raven's powers are tied to her soul, Rave-in-Starfire should've had all of Raven's and Starfire's powers...)
  24. Classic Comic Book Storyline #235: characters -- either a hero and villain, or a group of heroes, or a group of heroes and villains -- swap minds/bodies/powers. Hilarity ensues. How/Why? Numerous reasons. Perhaps as a consequence of the cure from Ecal's Great Genderswitch Caper. Perhaps Quirk is feeling quirky. Magic, super-science, alien tech... take your pick. Main problem I've been hitting is how, mechanically, to do it. At first I thought to do it pretty much like Possession: mind/"possessor" retains their mental ability scores, skills based on mental abilities, and powers with mental effects or descriptors, and gains the body's/"possess-ees" physical ability scores, skills based on physical abilities, and powers with physical effects or descriptors. (Core and UP are silent on attack/defense, feats, and saves.) But then there's the problem of mental-heavy people (like Dr. Archeville or Scarab) getting into physical-heavy bodies (like Dark Star or Emissary), and vice versa. And associated PL considerations -- if, for example, Scarab were in Divine's body, her Toughness from Divine's godly body & Scarab's Force Field would be +21. Which is fine for comics, but not so much for games where characters should be somewhat equal. (Though the idea of Dr. Archeville in Wesley's body, with Wes's biokinetic powers but Doc's own knowledge of life sciences & medicine, is incredibly appealing. ) Then I got the idea that it's just personalities transferred: stats remain the same, so each player just uses a different character's sheet. It would be simplest. So, first question first: who'd be interested?
