(thread recruitment) Superpowers and Swords and Sorcery
Dr Archeville replied to MarkK's topic in Archives
I've given him one approval, so if you could look over to give him the second.... -
Timeline entry?

Let me finish Hellbound's test first, then I'll tackle Knievel and Reaver. Well, one of them, at least.
-
Neither, you use the Placement Tests for Villains thread ;)

No, we don't. Or, rather, yes, a link is there, but it goes nowhere. -
Thunderstanding - Sacerdos - PL10 Hero
Dr Archeville replied to Sacerdos's topic in Archived Characters
I did think of one other thing: "the default Flight effect is normally noticeable, whether from the rush of air, the roar of rockets, or a glowing contrail or aurora." If you want to reduce those, you need the Subtle feat. -
HIT Science & Engineering Lecture Series, v.2 [OOC]

Alrighty. Um... you never did tell me which direction he's been going. Here's the map of Freedom City (.pdf). HIT is under where it says HANOVER on the map. If you do not choose, I shall choose for you. -
Either one can easily be done in Doc's Gymnasium of Horrors. ;)
-
Hunh? No, you've spent your one HP. Unless I tell you you've gain another, you have none. No, that's 0.93 a PL worth of points. 15pp/level, not 10. No. If you want it setting things on fire, it needs a Damage component.

HIT Science & Engineering Lecture Series, v.2 [OOC]
Dr Archeville replied to Dr Archeville's topic in Archives
Ah, you're right! I was thinking of Device Toughness (for some reason), which is 10 + rank. However, it needs to fail by 10 or more to be Disabled. Failing by 8 makes it Injured, so it's at -1 Toughness. So now it's a Toughness 9 Snare. So, he's not out, but he's not completely hosed, either. -

Six Degrees of Separation! Odysseus --> portrayed in Troy by Sean Bean --> played Boromir in LotR --> Boromir is the eldest son of Denethor II --> who was played by John Noble --> who also plays uber-mad scientist Walter Bishop on Fringe. And in the film adaptation, Denethor II tried, in a roundabout way, to kill his two sons (sent one on a suicide mission, was going to burn one on a pyre when he mistakenly though he was dead). Doc's own father tied to kill him.
-
"Odysseus, eh?," he replied, "Vell, I am more dan a bit cunning. But if you're Brad Pitt," he turned to Jack, "dat vould make me Sean Bean, ja? He's a fine actor, I can live mit dat. Although... ja, ja, dat is very fitting." The lights in Archeville's eyes dimmed a bit, but only briefly. "I could go for a drink. Ginger ale, preferably."

STAGE FOUR An Indiana Jones-esque romp. Notice check, followed by one of two Reflex saves. If you fail the Notice check, use the higher Reflex DC; if you make the Notice check, use the lower Reflex DC (because you spotted where the thing's coming from and so can better avoid it). No harm for failing the Reflex save, except for the embarrassment of being hit with paint. Each is done three times, so (5 x 2 x 3 ) 30 rolls total. He may use extra effort at any time, but the fatigue will remain until the stage is complete; any fatigue suffered will be cured before the next stage begins. Spending an HP for a re-roll is also possible, but once used, it is gone for the entire thread. Any actual damage suffered will also be healed between stages; there is a Doktor in the house. Part 1: DC 10 Notice, DC 10/10 Reflex (basic "this is what's going on" part) Part 2: DC 14 Notice, DC 14/12 Reflex (high-end basic training) Part 3: DC 18 Notice, DC 18/14 Reflex (high-end professional training) Part 4: DC 22 Notice, DC 22/16 Reflex (high-end expert training) Part 5: DC 26 Notice, DC 26/18 Reflex (how do you handle insurmountable odds?)

"Vell, I vould like to test your senses und your reflexes, in order to be sure you suffered no permanent damage from mein com-bot, und to see if you can adapt to non-damaging und indirect challenges. Plus," he chuckled, "I like to know vhat mein teammates can do." Archeville manipulated his E.S. again -- Hellbound realized it was being used as a Universal Remote for the entire house -- and the firing range shifted around a bit. Lights came on here and there, some short walls popped up form the floor, and some metallic tentacles drooped down from the ceiling. At the far end, he could see life-sized holograms of assorted people appear. One slowly rose up and hovered above the rest for a few moments, then sank back down. It was Moira, in a tight red-and-white striped outfit. "I dink you should be able to spot dat, ja?" he said with a sly grin. He then swung out part of the short wall before them so Hellbound could actually enter the range. "Dere are some obstacles, of course. Nothing lethal: paintball guns, sections of floor dat open to a short three-inch drop into a reservoir of paint, large padded bats coated in paint dat sving down to strike you, und so on. Nothing vill be harmed but your pride."

Geckoman, High Note, and Quark. Thursday evening (Sept 25th), 5 days before the Delivery at Pier 18. Liberty Park, Parkside, Downtown Freedom. The moon is a waning crescent, only 15% visible. 64 degrees, 20mph NE winds, and there's a light rain which has been pouring for the past two hours. The trio arrived a few minutes before seven, but Terhune was already there, in the same dark suit, red tie, and wooden shoes. And an umbrella. "Ah, hello, hello!," he said with a broad smile as he offered his hand to each. "You must be the 'professionals' mentioned by the young lad I met here earlier. Did he fill you in on our problem?" They're all... kids! Well, hook 'em young, they say. Tabitha Connely and Ember Paw, with Jos Terhune and Cyber-Goons watching on. Early Sunday morning (Sept 28th, around 2:00am), 2 days before the Delivery at Pier 18. The Fens, Downtown Freedom. The moon is a waning crescent, only 1% visible. 69 degrees, 96% humidity, 4mph ESE winds, overcast. Ember Paw, hungry and tied (though becoming less hungry now), faced down his whip-wielding assailant. Who was she? What exactly was her connection to Jos Terhune? Would he have a chance to find out?

2pp for Belphegor's PL 10 form. +1 rank each in Bluff and Diplomacy (bringing them to 7 ranks; with Attractive 2, he now hits his caps for those skill ranks) +6 ranks on Knowledge (arcane lore) (bringing it to 10 ranks) More stuff he picked up in Hell. (How does being in Hell make you better at Diplomacy? Diplomacy is used for bribery.) Done by Sandman XI

Ember Fox updated. Hellbound updated. And, due to some math errors that crept in somewhere, he still has 3 unspent pp, not 1. Avenger updated... but there are some problems: * His Animal Control should cost 4pp, not 3 (1pp/rank, and he has 4 ranks). * His Insubstantial/Flight should cost 9pp, not 7. 8p for the Insubstantial 2 (normally 5pp/rank, reduced to 4/rank due tot he nighttime only flaw), +1pp for nighttime-only Flight 1. Captain Knievel updated.

Sandman XI (Silver) - Quark - PL13 Hero (NPC Tier 2)

Adds up. Adds up. Adds up. Adds up. Adds up, though that's "Eidetic" Memory Adds up, though you should put "x500" in there to show just how fast his freakish brain works Adds up. Adds up. Adds up. But... A Variable structure that requires a full round action to reconfigure has a -1 flaw; further increases in configuration time apply the Action power drawback. Adds up. -
