  1. They do not, at this time, have readied actions to smack Slamdance down. Slamdance can move far away and easily be able to move quickly back in and attack Fox, but he's not sure if he could do the same to Shark -- Shark (Shark-Prime) and his Summoned Shark-Men all look so much alike, it'll be hard to tell them apart. (I.e., you'll need to make a Notice check to tell the difference between Shark-Prime and Shark-Mook.)
  2. Hrm, even if his lab coat pocket were to give him a +2 bonus on a Sleight of Hand roll to conceal his gadget manipulating, best he could get is 23, which can't beat Avenger's 27 Notice. So... 41 total (21 on Dex, 20 on Cha)? Doc's counter-Diplomacy = 34. (Actually, 36 w/ Enhanced Cha from Gadget.) And, yes, I'm spending an HP to get Fascinate (Diplomacy) (basing it off his own Fascinate [Perform/Oratory] Doc's Dex check = 18 Doc's Cha check = 26 18+26 = 44 (I would've beat without the Enhanced Cha from his Gadget, and I didn't need to spend an HP for a re-roll! )
  3. "Ah, but dere is so much more to it dan dat, Herr Faretti," Archeville countered. "It is the lilt of de Viennese valtz dat gives Die Fledermaus its soul! De valtzes symbolize not only seduction und deception, but also of melancholy sentiment, as vell as sparkling exuberance! Und all dese are captured perfectly in de overture!" Archeville was not as dexterous as his rival, but still made for an impressively agile showing. "Mein compliments on your footvork, Herr Faretti. You appear to be a natural." The deficit in agility was greatly overshadowed, though, by Archeville's near-superhumanly magnetic personality, and the fact that he did know how to waltz. (The subsonic subliminal pulses that caused everyone to pay a bit more attention than usual to Archeville helped, too.) His dance ended with a kiss on his partner's hand and a respectful bow, to his partner and then to the band. The crowd exploded with applause.
  4. What happened to his Morphic Suit? Destroyed in battle? Stolen by Magpie? Eaten by Gigantosaur?
  5. No penalty to the Stealth check. It's still a Move action to move, and a Move action to hide. In other words, in one round Slamdance can use two Move actions to Hide (with no penalty to the Stealth check) and move up to 125 feet. Or Hide (with a -5 penalty to the Stealth check) and move up to 250 feet. Or Hide (with a -20 penalty to the Stealth check) and move up to 1,000 feet. As for whether nor not he can move... well, would he move when surrounded by a Fox-man and three hungry-looking Shark-men? He's not completely cut off, there is some wiggle-room, but would he, seeing as he really knows nothing about how fast or powerful these Shark-men are?
  6. If DS was hit by a pistol (Blast 5, DC 20), he's fine, his Imp. soaked it up. If he's hit by a Rifle (Blast 8, DC 23), he failed by 7, so he's bruised + stunned for a round. Unless you spend an HP to either re-roll or shake off the stun.
  7. You may need to Surge to do all that. Standing from Prone: Move Action* Hiding: Move Action Moving more than 5 feet but less than 251 feet: Move Action * If you can make a DC 20 Acrobatics check, you can stand from prone as a Free Action. Also, the Shark-Men have their black doll-like eyes on you, like they'll attack if you try to move.
  8. But that's exactly what that feat is. ... what's your point here? That Speedsters can go first, unless you go first? (Unless the Speedster also has Seize Initiative....) Given that, unlike other D20 games, M&M limits you to one attack/action per round (barring Surging), being able to go first -- or even really, really first -- isn't that big an issue. It's very unlikely a fight can be ended in one round, unless there are already some significant discrepancies in abilities between combatants and/or some freakish luck in the die rolling. And just because they're faster doesn't mean Hellbound can't get the drop on them -- if the Speedster doesn't know you're there, if you Surprise them, it doesn't matter how fast they are. (Moral of the story: if you want to be able to get the drop on folks, invest in some Stealth.) Because "Using our Awesome Powers" is a lot more dramatic and heroic than "I pull the anchor-dropping lever"? 'No-Nonsense' solutions don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel. ;)
  9. I'm leaning towards Dex check + Cha check, add the results, whoever gets the highest total 'wins'. That way Avenger's near-peak human Dex factors in (as, I believe, it should). I though you might do something like that ;)
  10. I'm pretty sure you can do that in any point buy game. Champions/HERO, GURPS, etc.. And even D&D 3.5 let you do it, via "Retraining." Plus, it's not like comic book characters never change. When Batman transitioned from the pre-CCA Pulp mode to the Campy 60's mode, he traded in some of his Fearsome Presence for more Equipment. And to look at it another way: buying a rank in Dodge Bonus is the same as buying one-half a rank in Defense. It represents a slow & steady increase. It's not different from "buying off a Limitation."
  11. I'm torn between having this be a straight Charisma check contest, or a Diplomacy check contest. (It won't be Perform [Dance], since neither of us have that ) Or Dex. Or some combination. Ideas? In any case -- and since I've not explicitly stated so here -- Doc's got his Mind set on Enhanced Charisma. He's also "cheating" with his E.S.:
  12. "Ah, how kind of you, Herr Faretti," he replied, smiling a very mischievous smile. He turned to the small mini-orchestra that had been rented for the evening, and murmured to himself a bit as he looked them over. "Yes, yes, dis should do qvite vell." He tuned back to Faretti, put his hands in his lab coat pockets, and rocked on his heels for a moment, drawing the moment out. Eventually Archeville removed his hands from his pockets, first his right (which he offered to his chosen partner) and then his left, with which he made a sweeping gesture. "A Viennese valtz." He turned his head towards the band, "something by Strauss, if you can, please." The musicians conversed among themselves for a moment, then began to play; Archeville immediately began to dance, twirling his partner about. To some small surprise, Jack actually recognized the tune: it was the overture to Die Fladermaus. The opera, largely a vaudevillian farce, was liked by many of the more cultured vampires because the title translated to "The Bat," and because it featured lots of seduction and late-night revelry. Inside his left lab coat pocket, Archeville's Electromagnetic Screwdriver silently flashed.
  13. You can only use Extra Effort once per round.
  14. Something unfortunate has popped into my head.
  15. Nope: Boost is an Instant effect. The points fade at their normal rate whether the Boost is the "active" slot in an Array or not.
  16. Be sure to have Malice install a targeting computer that can aim for a foe's pressure points, since that's something Knievel himself cannot do (since K himself doesn't have any sort of "Pressure Point Attack"). ;)
  17. That sounds dangerously cheezy: you could be in that setting of the Array, use Boost, then switch to some other setting of the Array and still have the benefit of the Boost.
  18. Name? Oh, that's right, he doesn't know my name! Well, not my human one. Hurm - I've shown him my human face, but do I want to give him my human name as well? Oh, I know! "This body was known as Jos," he finally said. "It is not that I take on human form, it is that I... take a human form. I took this one about a year ago, and it has served me well." Yes, get him to think I possess others, not that I just have one human form. Possession tends to be more creepy than shapeshifting, and it could make it easier to coerce him in the future if he thinks I could be anyone. Jos smiled, then motioned to the door, "shall we?"
  19. Anyone planning to see this? Anyone already seen the leaked version?
  20. The Rifle's probably an Easy to Lose Device. 3pp/rank. Cost is correct. (This is one reason why we don't like non-Refs posting in the char approval threads, quote. ) The Suit does seem costed wrong, though. Device 6 (Hard to Lose, Restricted 2) would cost 26pp (not 38), and give 30 points (not 35) worth of stuff.
  21. Don't forget to make a Timelineentry ;)
  22. ... that doesn't really tell us anything. :P
  23. Hope there's no objection to me "hijacking" White Star like that, Cyroa.
  24. Victoria Archeville was again stunned at Avenger's... existence for a moment, but quickly recovered. "I should be able to reverse dis, if ve can salvage someding of de original veapon for me to study," she finally said. She saw White Star had apparently already started doing so. "Vhat do you find?" "Other than minor damage from people hitting things, the blast did very little property damage to anything else. And I don't detect any trace of the android's remains." Victoria's left eye twitched. "Mein laboratory is in Hanover," she said through gritted teeth.
  25. Archeville seems to pause and think on Sarah's words, then turns to Quark as he makes his way towards the group. "Ah, Herr Cale, so good to see you again! How are you? How are your parents?" He could just barely see Twilight Gryphon arrive. "ah, it appears we are a pentaverate now," he said to those near him, then waved the newcomer over with a just-this-side-of-manic smile.
