  1. Dem's da breaks Now, make an IC post with this, then I can finish killing you all. I mean... killing you all.
  2. That sounds more like a Feint, then, not a Trick. Not that it matters either way, since he has a high enough Sense Motive modifier that he can't fail to beat Slamdance's 10. So he knows you're planning to eventually slam into Shark. He's going to try and block/trip you. The 21 does hit him. You can use your Str or Dex modifier on a Trip attack, so if you use your Dex mod you have a total of 20 on the actual Trip check. He beats it with a 23, and will react immediately to try and trip you. Only got a 14 that time. Make a Str or Dex check, or an Acrobatics check. If you meet or beat the 14, you stop directly in front of Fox; if you get 13 or less, you fall prone in front of Fox.
  3. The man-sized blob locks up completely.
  4. During the 30 seconds the SWAT Team spent securing the perimeter, Archeville zipped over the Army Wife and checked her condition. He may not have been a medical doctor -- yet -- but he knew enough to realize she was not in any critical condition. He backed off and let the paramedics take over once they arrived, sharing what "Vell, I suppose I coul-" Archeville was cut off in mid-sentence as several reporters had already made their way to him. "Who are you? How did you get here so fast? How did you beat them?" "Who is he? That's Doctor Archeville! But how did you get here so fast?" "Any truth to the rumor of you joining the Freedom League?" "Please, please, ladies und gentlemen, von qvestion at a time!," he finally said. "Mein presence here vas a mere happy circumstance, I vas having dinner here. Unfortunately, dey barged in before I could even finish going over de vine list! Such a shame, using such advanced technology for such criminal ends." Archeville chit-chatted with the reporters for a few minutes more, telling them of the attack but leaving out all mention of Scarab and even of Elena and Sofia; he told them he had come to dine alone, as he was unsure if the Rhodes Foundation would appreciate him leaking the news of their arrangement just yet. He'd let them decide when or if to let the public know they were helping fund his research. After a few minutes, just as the last of the SWAT team was heading out, Archeville zipped over to one; it turned out to be the one who had spoken to him earlier. He offered to give his own account of what had happened, an account largely the same as he had given the reporters though with more tactical and technical detail (though not so much as to go completely over the man's head). Making an 'official 'report to the authorities was a habit he'd forced himself into while working as an adventurer-hero-scientist -- it tended to put people more at ease when they know why and how the vigilante is stopping criminals, rather than wondering. Once that was done, he headed downstairs.
  5. Obviously, yes. I was just wondering if you were going with "invisible TK" or "Golden Glowing Hands of Justice!"
  6. What exactly are you trying to trick Fox into doing? A Hero Point-fueled re-roll adds 10 to any die result less than 11. So the 6 you rolled is actually a 16, so you got an 18 total. :)
  7. It means you re not pinned to the ground via massive weight, but instead just act as if carrying something very heavy. Knievel's maximum dodge bonus is +3 (so his Defense is 19), he's at -3 to everything, and moves at 2/3rds normal speed (so he can take a 20 foot move and take a standard action).
  8. Use the new character edit thread. ;)
  9. Sounds fine by me. :)
  10. "What's so special about the coin?," the man asked. Was he reading Ghost's mind? Or did he just have the same thoughts? Can demons read minds? A coin? All this for one coin? It's gotta be valuable if they're calling us in, but in what way? Is it just a simple coin, valued for its age and material? Strong personal sentimental value? Perhaps some supernatural aspect to it?! "And what is the nature of the protections around it? Locked doors and puzzle-locks, or stationed guards?" Best to keep it cool, act like a pro. But not too clever -- there is some benefit to letting Concertino here think I'm more brawn than brain. The fact Terhune's demonic side really was more brawn than brain made this a fairly easy task.
  11. Is this use of Scarab's TK subtle? I'll say that, yes, a crit does give a +5 bonus on the roll to Disarm. Which makes Scarab's opposed Str check 31. Which Fox cannot beat. Slamdance? Need a Will save, then your actions.
  12. NOT SO FAST! After poking arouind the ATT some, it seems Captain Knievel (and indeed anyone in Dark Star's Gravity Control field) gets a Reflex save (DC 10 + Gravity Control rank). If they fail the save, the Gravity has its full effect, but if they make it, the effective rank is halved. So if Knievel can make a DC 20 Reflex save, he's only held by a Gravity Control 5 effect (effectively Str 25, or 800 lbs.), which won't be as bad for him. With an effective Str of 32, that's a Medium load for him.
  13. Staggered + Disabled + Stunned isn't "a crack to the chin." That's "he was hit so hard that not only is his jaw broken and he's spitting out teeth, but also his brain was knocked around a bit inside his skull and some major arteries/veins were torn." But now he's fine. :)
  14. Archeville wasn't sure if the fear he felt was a reaction from the fumes, or form the very real threat to his teammate. But he knew what he had to do. "Don't move! Stay right dere!" He zipped over to a white box set on one wall, a box with a big red cross painted on it. When he opened it and started taking things out, a light on top of it began to flash, and after a few moments some tiny (cat-sized) wheeled robots zipped out from concealed spaces along the walls and moved towards Hellbound. Archeville worked with surprising speed, running scanners over Hellbound (especially his head and face) and applying various creams and salves, and at one point some weird headband-type thing with flashing lights. "Alright, I dink dat... has... got it!" he said triumphantly. Surprisingly, once Archeville drew back, he realized he felt almost good as new. He was still missing a few teeth, and he had what could at worst be described as a minor headache, but other than that, he felt fine. "I am very sorry about dat, I had not realized dat de protective coating on de combat-bot's striking surfaces had worn avay so much!"
  15. Avenger's 17 hits, and Vulture cannot beat that Grapple check, so he is grappled by Avenger.
  16. A thin layer of ice forms around Scarab's torso, and she feels a bitter, bitter cold set in. Though their costumes hide their faces, it's not hard to tell that they are affected by Avenger's threats. Slamdance zips past Shark, but only barely connects. It is, however, enough of a hit that Shark is battered around a bit by the strike. From the tops of the trees, small dark clouds pour out and coalesces into one man-sized amorphous mass that hovers in the air. A droning can be heard coming form it, and in the light of the almost-full moon (and a few streetlights), you see it is a great swarm of thumb-sized black wasps, with tiny pinpoints of baleful green light shining in their eyes, eyes which look in all directions. As Slamdance turns back to assess the situation, he sees Shark detach something from his side and toss it at him. The something is a demonic eel-fish-thing... and it's not only coming right for him, it's already upon him, biting at his throat! Meanwhile, Vulture turns to his two nemeses -- well, turns to Avenger and Scarab -- and laughs a semi-menacing laugh (imagine Squeaky Voiced Teen from The Simpsons trying to do an Evil Laugh). It'd be more than a bit pathetic... if the laugh didn't turn into an ear-piercing shriek! And the quick brown fox shoots at Scarab again with his freeze-ray. "This is our turf! No rejects from the 90s or the 60s are gonna stop us!"
  17. Surprise Round Recap [*:3ej50o5g]Fox shoots at Scarab. He hits, and she is Bruised. [*:3ej50o5g]Avenger Startles the Baddies. Fox is startled, Concealed Thing cannot be Startled, Shark is startled, Vulture is startled. [*:3ej50o5g]Scarab is surprised. [*:3ej50o5g]Slamdance charges Shark, hits and gives him a Bruise. [*:3ej50o5g]Concealed Thing -- now no longer Concealed -- emerges from its hiding spot. [*:3ej50o5g]Shark summons a Sky-Remora that attacks Slamdance. It hits; need a DC 15 Will save. [*:3ej50o5g]Vulture screeches. DC 20 Reflex save from Scarab (as Slamdance is well out of range). If you fail, DC 20 Fort save; if you pass, DC 15 Fort save, vs. a Stun effect (fail and you're dazed; fail by 5+, you're stunned, fail by 10+, you're KO'd). (To the lifeless Avenger, it's like being at a loud punk concert -- irritating but not damaging.) If Scarab is stunned or KO'd by it, she gets an HP for the setback. Round 1 Initiatives - Character - Condition - HPs 23+ - Fox - Undamaged 23- - Avenger - Undamaged - 1 HP 18 - Scarab - Bruise x1 - 3 HP 17 - Slamdance - Undamaged (?) - 2 HP 16 - Hellwasps - Undamaged 15 - Shark (and Sky-Remora) - Bruise x1 7 - Vulture - Undamaged Fox shoots at Scarab again. If she was not stunned by Vulture's shriek, he misses. If she was stunned (failed the Fort save by 5+), he hits, and she needs to make another DC 18 Fort save (but you also get an HP).
  18. Ecal? Cyrith?
  19. One last post from you, I think, then we can close this.
  20. Victoria Archeville was up now, pacing back and forth, gesturing wildly and still cursing in German. She seemed not to notice the others. "Ich kann nicht glauben dass er dies tat! Wie tat er dies? Wenn ich meine hände auf ihn setze, gehe ich zu...!"
  21. "Seeing if you noticed anything out of the ordinary was part of it, yes," Legend said, still in Eric's mother's voice. "That, and to see how you fared against such challenges." "I take on the form I think would most get a subject's undivided attention. For an Irish rogue, I take the form of a blood-stained Druid; for a certain half-demon art historian, I took the form of a 17h Century French Satanist. You required something a bit special, though: no one form would get your focus, as you would immediately assume it was a trick, or even a part of the prior assault." "As for where we go from here," he said, fading, "well, that's entirely up to you." And like a fading dream, Legend was gone.
  22. Acute Scent just means his scent is as distinctive to you as his visual appearance or the sound of his voice, and you can tell Avenger from Not-Avenger by scent alone. That said, Geckoman might could notice that Avenger's scent has more commonalities with corpses than normal living people's scents do.
  23. No, one of the bombs is floating above the other, in the hangar. Doc's invisible. ;)
  24. Looks good 8-)
