  1. STAGE TWO A test of his ability to evade a punch (and of his toughness). Again, three tries per part. Part 1: +3 Attack, +3 Damage (DC 18) Part 2: +6 Attack, +6 Damage (DC 21) Part 3: +9 Attack, +9 Damage (DC 24) Part 4: +12 Attack, +12 Damage (DC 27) All attacks are lethal -- the rubber tips had worn off the pointy fingertips/knuckles -- so there's more a chance of spilling his blood. ;)
  2. It's already been answered, here:
  3. Sure. 13 just manages to hit flat-footed Shark. Make your IC post, I'll show his reaction to the hit in my follow-up.
  4. Not hot pink? ;)
  5. No initiative rolls needed. STAGE ONE A test of Hellbound's ability to land a punch. Three attack rolls per Part (he's actually making/landing more attacks than that, the 3/part is a representative sample), and remember that 1's do auto-miss. Part 1: Defense 10 Part 2: Defense 15 Part 3: Defense 20 Part 4: Defense 25
  6. Exxxcellent.... I mean.... exxxcellent....
  7. You can take one move or one standard action in the surprise round. Charge is a full round action. If you want to charge, you'll have to use Extra Effort to surge.
  8. I'm assuming our minds are still the same? That is, if we were attracted to womenfolk before, we're still attracted to them post-switch?
  9. Archeville had barely gotten a good look at the girls -- whom he immediately recognized as Doc Otaku's Angel Androids -- when the blast went off. When he came to, he was slumped against a wall in the alley. A quick check to see if anything was broke revealed that he now had some... extra padding in his chest. The outfit was largely the same, though cut for a slim feminine form. "Dammit! Nicht wieder!," she screamed, in a voice that was far too sexy*, "ich kann nicht glauben, dass dieses mir wieder geschehen ist!" * Doc does have Attractive.
  10. As Hellbound worked, Archeville fiddled with his E.S. some more, activating sensors throughout the entire gymnasium. "See? I can offer you a-" he paused, seeing his guest was coming down off an adrenaline high, "... challenge." Once it appeared Hellbound was alright, he unspooled a cable from his gadget and connected it to the bar-less-bell, and looked over the readings the device showed. "Ah! 3.34 metric tonnes! Er, that's about.... 3.68 tons. You just bench-pressed de equivalent of a luxury car!" He disconnected his gadget from the bar, then moved on to another section of the gym. Hellbound thought he moved a bit oddly at first, and then it dawned on him: the Doktor was gliding, hovering an inch or so off the ground. "Ready for someding a bit more challenging? Vorking mit stable eqvipment is von ding, but vorking mit someding dat can fight back," he stopped at what looked like a crude six-armed skeleton made of polished steel, "is qvite another. Dis is von of mein basic combat drones; it can test your ability to land a punch, or to avoid being punched. Are you game?"
  11. "Ah, hello Fraulein Brown," Archeville replied, bowing slightly to her. "It is a pleasure to meet you, too. You are de von who organized dis all, ja? Is it just to be de three of us, or are others expected?"
  12. The second one. DO SOMETHING!
  13. Ember does still feel hungry -- her Mind Control is Concentration (Lasting), so now that she's stopped maintaining it (i.e., switched to a different power in the Array), he gets a Will save each round (with a cumulative +1 bonus per save) to shake it off.
  14. "Oh, now I vouldn't say dat". Hs smile became more of a smirk, "I vould say mein entrance und mein stories are vhat let me steal de show!"
  15. OVERALL "PLACEMENT TEST" RULES There'll be 5 tests, each one consisting of four "targets", which you get three chances to beat. Each stage will test a certain aspect of the character, such as fighting ability, defensive ability, skills, powers, et cetera. I'll be setting up the challenges, and some basic description, but it'll be mostly up to you to describe how Hellbound runs through them. He may use extra effort at any time, but the fatigue will remain until the stage is complete; any fatigue suffered will be cured before the next stage begins. Spending an HP for a re-roll is also possible, but once used, it is gone for the entire thread. Any actual damage suffered will also be healed between stages; there is a Doktor in the house. STAGE ZERO This isn't really a test per se, it's just seeing how strong he is. The carrying/lifting rules is sufficient, no rolling needed. The bar can get so heavy that he cannot move it, even if raging and using extra effort.
  16. "Muah hah hah hah- ahem... er, that is, ve can start over here." Archeville stepped down from the dais, and lead his guest to what looked like a normal weight bench, except the bar didn't seem to have any weights on it, nor were there any in sight. "I believe you know de basics of hos dis vorks, ja? Dose bits on de end," he pointed to the two ends of the bar, and Hellbound could see that the ends were a bit bigger than the center, "dey can generate a magnetogravitic field so dat de bar gets very heavy. Go ahead, give it a try."
  17. Just a Fort save, it seems.
  18. Typo. Do as I said, not as I say. ;)
  19. Timeline? Also, why do you hate quotation marks? :P
  20. And so, the heroes depart, just as the police move in. Sister Sixtus is captured, and the dagger returned to the Beaumont Collection. Many dead bodies are carted off; some are returned to confused families, some are cremated and put into a potter's field. What new challenges await them, both individually and as a team? Where will these challenges come from? Who can say?! "Change! Change, O mortal form! Release the might from fleshy mire! Boil the blood in heart of fire! Gone! Gone! -- the mortal form -- Rise, the Demon Belphegor!!!" The demon landed with a thud onto the island Jos Terhune had been careening towards. 'Island' was as good a term as any: a spit of bone-white rock floating in the fetid air of the Necro-King's Hell, connected by rusted chains to other floating spits of bone-white rock. Things, some recognizably JudeoChristian demonic, some far weirder -- and all horribly rotted or skeletal -- crawled and flapped and flopped about aimlessly... and then all turned to the newcomer. They bared fang and claw and spine and other nastiness, and charged towards the new meat. Belphegor smiled, and roared defiantly as he charged into the fray. ~fin~
  21. Archeville grinned a mischievous grin, "Now you haff got mein curiosity up, Hellbound." The metallic tentacles retracted, and the panels returned, making the platform look like a regular platform again. "You know, it occurs to me dat, vhat mit us being on de same team, it vould be vise for us to know vhat ve all can do. Scarab already had us exchange our real names und contact info, and tell briefly vhat ve can do, but vhy not someding more in-depth? I haff all de necessary eqvipment," he spread his arms out towards all the workout gear, "und copies of de results could be kept both here und at Scarab's Lair. Vhat do you say?"
  22. I'm not sure Fearsome Presence works as an AP off Insubstantial/Flight. I'd allow it off his Animal Control, though. Surprise Round Initiatives - Character - Condition - HPs 23+ - Fox - Undamaged 23- - Avenger - Undamaged - 2 HP 18 - Scarab - Undamaged but surprised - 3 HP 17 - Slamdance - Undamaged - 2 HP 16 - Concealed thing no one's seen - Undamaged 15 - Shark - Undamaged 7 - Vulture - Undamaged Edit: Scarab gets another VP (3 now) as Fox uses a VP to re-roll his attack (because even with a flat-footed defense of 12, he managed to miss her). And now she needs to make a DC 18 Fort save vs. the Freeze Ray. (So far it seems the dice do not favor the bad guys.) Once Slamdance posts, I'll post for the rest.
  23. We''ll be sorry to see you go if you do. On a semi-related note, are people okay with the pace as it's been going, or would y'all be interested in fast-forwarding a bit and jumping to the day of the delivery itself?
  24. I agree! Char Edit Thread no.1 (11/8/2007-4/21/2008) Char Edit Thread no.2 (11/8/2007-2/10/2008) Char Edit Thread no.3 (4/24/2008-4/15/2009)
