HIT Science & Engineering Lecture Series, v.2
Dr Archeville replied to Dr Archeville's topic in Hanover
"Stop that!" Archeville shouted. He paused a moment, as if thinking about or remembering something very important, then took flight again after Knievel. -

Also, yes, you're correct on the Leaping -- with Leaping 5, which take a Full round, you an start a Leap as a move action, use your next round's Standard action to finish it, then Move to start another. You'll be doing nothing but Leaping (unless you use Extra Effort to Surge to gain an action). Full Round to switch Enhanced Mind from Enhanced Cha to Enhanced Int. Extra Effort to Surge to gain another Move action. HP to nix Fatigue. Move Action to chase after Knievel. Mid-round 5; Initiatives & Conditions 24 -- Arrowhawk -- fine -- 2 HP 23 -- Captain K -- 2 Bruises -- 0 VP -- DEF set to 27 (due to Defensive Attack) 16 -- Doc -- fine -- 1 HP 13 -- Dark Star -- fine -- 2 HP -
I think you're all forgetting Belphegor's contribution. Without him, there'd be no Red King! :P

"I see," Eldrich said, looking around at everyone (except the hidden Avenger), lingering a bit on Divine and Scarab. He then looked to one small pile of rubble, and held out a hand. A glowing hand sprang from his and moved the small pile, revealing the Schattenklinge -- the stolen ritual blade -- which the glowing hand then placed on the broken altar. "In that case, we may as well make it easy for the police to find it. Though they needn't find these," the glowing hand picked up a few red and black gemstones from the rubble of the altar, then brought them to Eldrich. "Once I dispose of these components, it shall be considerably harder for this cult to spring up again." "You have all shown exceptional courage and strength this evening, but know that there are more and worse things to come, and many challenges ahead, from without and within. The nights of Freedom can be dangerous beyond comprehension... so it is good that there are those of virtue who would protect it." The glowing blue circle-within-a-triangle symbol appeared behind him again, with the circle expanding into a disc. "I shall, I am sure, be seeing you all again in the future. Especially you." Dark Star, Wesley Knight and Scarab all thought he was looking at Scarab when he said that, but Divine and Hellbound thought he was instead looking at Moira, who was slightly behind and to the side of Scarab. A paranoid part of Avenger thought the mage's tone was referring to him. And then he was gone.

Dark Star's a he, not a her. More importantly, it's fairly obvious Dark Star is an energy being. Would you like a re-do, since Knievel would know he couldn't grab DS? -
"On your feet, Eric!," Micheals heard, though he could not tell if it was just in his mind or an actual voice. The voice was familiar, but he could not exactly place it. And suddenly he was back on his feet, seemingly refreshed, though still quite scuffed. And still surrounded by superhumans. "Third wave, go!"

Initiative for Doc = a mighty 2! Starting with his Enhanced Mind set to "Enhanced Int." He can Take 1 on a Know/Tech roll and get 22.

Heritage - The White Rook - PL10 Hero (NPC Tier 1)
Dr Archeville replied to Heritage's topic in Archived Characters
I leave it up to you. "Description: [a more detailed account of what they look like, including what any noticeable powers look/sound/smell like.]" ;) -
"I am many things," Eldrich said to Wesley as the portal behind him faded. "Chief amongst them is Defender of this Dimension. While my duties prevented me from intervening before now, I was able to observe most of what transpired. May I prevail upon you all to, I believe the expression is, 'fill me in'?"

Heritage - The White Rook - PL10 Hero (NPC Tier 1)

[Jay Sherman] It stinks! [/Jay Sherman] *ahem* Actually, the background & such look fine to me. Just two bits of clarification: * Did Sister Elenore/The White Knight really slay the Red Queen, or not? * Are you aware that there's a misogynistic racist super-strong pyrokinetic supervillain going by the name White Knight in FC? This could lead to some... interesting misunderstandings for Adele. Also, for flavor, what do her spells look/feel like? What sort of Blast does she have? What does it look like when she Teleports? And so on. -
And, yes, Avenger did say I could do that *points to Eldrich* :)

Groovy. Free action to switch on Force Field. Move Action to fly up through hole Knievel made and go after him. With a movement rate of 2,500 feet, he can easily catch up to him. Extra Effort to surge to gain another move action. Hero Point (down to 2 now) to negate fatigue. Full round action to use his Gadget/Uber-TASER (Stun 10; Flaws: Action/Full, Unreliable) And he misses. Dark Star's turn. Mid-Round 4; Initiatives & Conditions 24 -- Arrowhawk -- fine -- 2 HP 23 -- Captain K -- 2 Bruises -- 0 VP 16 -- Doc -- fine -- 2 HP 13 -- Dark Star -- fine -- 3 HP (I don't recall Arrowhawk or Dark Star using HPs yet, but I could be wrong) -
HIT Science & Engineering Lecture Series, v.2

"No!" Archeville roared, a sharp break from what had been a calm demeanor. His circuitry-lined belt emitted a blue glow which soon encompassed his entire body, and then he rose into the air. "Dark Star, mit me! Herr Arrowhawk, follow if you can, stay und fill de police in if you cannot." In a flash Archeville was up and out, and locked on to Knievel's trajectory. He flew down to the villain and tried to slam into him with his super-TASER again, but missed by a wide margin. -
"Hold a moment, Scarab!" a serene voice said from... everywhere. "Such matters as these are not for the police, Scarab, but they are matters for..." A large glowing blue triangle with a circle in it appeared in mid-air. The circle expanded into a disc, and out of it stepped a very dignified man in a cape, crackling with arcane power. "Eldrich, Master Mage."

I'd say that's a slightly worse reason: IMO the only reason she should have Magical Mastery/Godly Powers that are her own abilities is if she's the daughter of and next in line to take the throne of Zeus. Ares and Aphrodite have limits on what they can do, and as their daughter who's only been practicing with her abilities for a couple of years Divine should be even more limited. Or, to put it another way: look at Hades and Baron Samedi (or ask to borrow someone's Freedom City book so you can look at their stats). They're gods, and fairly important ones in their pantheons, and they can do far more than most any mortal could dream. But neither one has a Variable Power, because their portfolios -- the things they embody and encompass, that they have dominion over -- aren't so big that they could or should do anything they want. The same is true for Divine, moreso since she doesn't have a portfolio, isn't yet a true goddess.

"Do you mind if I turn on the television while we wait? I do like to catch the news when I can." Before Sammy could answer, the strange man had switched on his set. An episode of Gilligan's Island was coming on. Oh, I love this show! "Ah, this is one of my favorite American programs!," he said cheerfully while sitting down. "I've heard that its creator originally intended for the program to be a meaningful examination of American life, but I see it more as a reflection of the Seven Deadly Sins... which, in a way, is not so different. The Howells embody Greed and Sloth, though it is hard to tell if Mr. Howell embodies Greed more and Mrs. Howell Sloth, or the other way around. The Professor is Pride, thinking he and he alone can get them off the island, sometimes even blinded by his own cleverness. Ginger and Mary-Ann evoke Lust and Envy, though as with the Howells it is hard to pinpoint which one evokes which Sin. The Skipper pulls double duty, embodying both Gluttony and Wrath. Of course, these alone don't keep the castaways stuck on the island. No, no. It is the apparent bumbling of Gilligan that keeps them there -- but what if that is intentional? If those castaways embody the Seven Deadly Sins, surely the Island is Hell, and Gilligan, the one keeping them there -- and, I might add, the one who always wears red -- is surely The Devil himself."

I don't have my books with me, so someone please look this up: Leaping 4 is a move action, so at the end of his move Knievel'd be on the ground, right? If not, if he's still in the air, does he retain his dodge bonus to Defense, or lose it? -
I though the black arrow was for dragons? And darn, the one guy I was really hoping to fool with Belphegor/Terhune's parting scene (Avenger, the one who should be most affected by hearing "this supernatural force in me made me do things I did not want to do, why should I be condemned to Hell for that?") made the Sense Motive check! Ah, well. Then again, Avenger trying to convince Scarab -- and everyone else -- that the "poor innocent man" was lying could be fun....
-
I'm really not sure that's appropriate for her. Isn't she still sorta learning to use the powers her parents (Dad's strength/toughness, Mom's charms) granted her? Taking Magical Mastery means she's not only got those well under control, but a fairly good handle on the powers of every other god in the Greek pantheon; what she'd lack in raw power she'd more than make up for in versatility.
-
Bluff check = 24 Feel free to forgo your Sense Motive check and believe every word he said. ;)

"NO!" the demon roared. Defying all logic, it reached out and grasped the edges of the portal -- the portal hanging in the air, which had no real border -- with its taloned hands and tried to hoist itself out. Crap... I can't fight this, I'm being pulled in, not just my body but my soul as well. Maybe it's what I deserve... but maybe it's what I need, too. But I'm not going down without royally screwing with them all! Gone, gone, O Belphegor! Resume once more a mortal's form! The scales of the demon suddenly tore off its body, revealing raw Caucasian skin underneath. Its wings and tail snapped off, cast into the burning winds of the hellscape beyond the portal. The horns and spurs on its body and head also broke off, its elongated fanged muzzle of a mouth split open and flew off to reveal a normal human mouth, and its eyes changed from solid flaming orange to soft green human eyes. "Wh-where am I? Did I-" the very confused-looking man turned and saw the hellscape behind it, "No.... NO!!!! No, I don't deserve this! I didn't want a demon in me! It controlled me, dominated me! I didn't want to do those horrible things, but I had no say, no control over my own body! My God, the things I did... the things it made me do... help me!," he pleaded. One hand slipped. "HELP ME! PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD," The other hand slipped, and the man went tumbling. "HELP MEEEEeeeeee...."
