  1. You wouldn't need Immunity to Snare: as spelled out in our House Rules, you can teleport out of a Grapple or Snare if you can make a DC 20 Concentration check.
  2. Have you addressed any of the points I mentioned? (I.e., how the American military got their hands on so much mithril, why they're using it for this armor, et cetera; I'm not even sure mithril exists in the Freedom City setting, orichalcum is the go-to mystical metal for the setting.)
  3. Yes, five years ago today, the Freedom City Play-by-Post forums were created! The site's come quite a long way since then, thanks to all the wonderful posters we've had, so congratulations go to you all as well! Rejoice! Rejoice! Rejoice!
  4. The only edit I can make out is a change to his Complications. Did you change anything else, answer any of the questions we've posed? (It's a bit more useful if you tell us what you're editing, not just that you've made edits.) You should flesh out the Paraplegic complication, to specify that he's only paraplegic when not in his suit.
  5. Disney's put up all eps of Gargoyles -- including the last half of season 2, and season 3 ("The Goliath Chronicles"), neither of which were ever released on DVD -- up on their site, for free, legal viewing! EDIT: These are the edited-for-Toon Disney versions, not the broadcast originals.
  6. Rav & Az are right. Complications are a setback, ones severe enough that, when the GM activates it, you get a Hero Point in return. Secret Identity is a prime example -- if someone threatens to expose your identity, that's a serious problem! (Having your secret love of 90210 is not really in the same league.) Having a severe phobia is also a good example, as they make fine obstacles for the hero to overcome; courage isn't not being afraid, it's acting despite being afraid. If he's unable to walk without the suit (or if the suit's severely damaged/depowered), that would also make for a decent Complication. "Physical Disability" is listed as a potential Drawback, but in this case, with the armor providing mobility, he'll be able to get around just fine in combat situations (when he'd be wearing the suit anyway!), and any situations where he'd need to walk but doesn't have the suit will be rare. Besides, it's often better to take Complications rather than Drawbacks: due to the Hero Point-generating nature of Complications, they are the gift that keeps on giving, as opposed to Drawbacks which just give a one-time bonus of extra power points.
  7. If the armor's actually made of mithril, that implies (to me, at least) more a magical suit, not a technological one. (He was chosen due to some mystical bloodline? He's the sixth son of a seventh son?) At the very least, one would question where the American military got enough mithril to make (and presumably do repairs on) a full suit of armor, and if they had enough to plan on mass-producing the suits. Also, if I remember correctly from Agents of Freedom, UNISON typically doesn't have the ultra-tech stuff AEGIS (the S.H.I.E.L.D. expy) does. EDIT: Nevermind, I see the suit was made by the American Military, and after he tested it he was sent to work with UNISON. Also also, I went ahead and made some formatting changes for his powers.
  8. I'd thought of that angle. My problem is figuring out why she switched, from tech to magic. And "her tech wasn't good enough, so she switched to using the magic of her ancestors" is rather problematic. Edit: trollthumper offered some fine advice: Character pic? Too steampunk-y? I'unno.
  9. From io9: What if H.P. Lovecraft wrote the Fantastic Four?
  10. Little physical documentation existed on the tribe, until recently, when renowned French photographer, Guillaume Herbaut, met the Asgarda back in 2004 in the midst of the Orange Revolution.
  11. Computer's pretty much dead -- now it BSoD's wile trying to boot up! -- so online presence will continue to be spotty as I make do with my (very slow) laptop.
  12. ...and now my comp is randomly restarting itself. First time happened about 30 mins after booting up for the first time in my new place, second time happened after about 5 hours of being on and left untouched.

  17. I don't think it's overheating, but the tower has been making lot of noticeable 'grinding' sounds over the past few months. I've taken the panel off and looked inside, nothing seemed loose or damaged.
  18. I'm moving next Tuesday (October 9th). A Time Warner minion should be by the next day to hook up my cable & internet, so with luck I'll only be offline for two days.
  19. So I tried playing Minecraft the other day, while having a Chat window open. (I'm on an HP Pavilion a6200n running Windows Vista, it's 5 years old.) My computer didn't like that. It crashed after about 5 minutes. No BSoD, it just shut down. A few days later, I tried Minecraft again, single player mode. Worked okay for about an hour, then the whole screen went 'fuzzy', persisting even when the game was shut down. Had to reboot the comp to make the odd visual effect go away. Next day, tried playing, after about 30 mins I got an error message. "Your Java virtual machine has run out of memory." So I had to shut down the game. Last night, I tried playing again, 5 minutes in I got a BSoD. Rebooted, waited about 30 minutes, tried again, got another BSoD after about 5 minutes of play.
  20. Dead Head Call, Raise, or Fold (1) 1 post = 1pp Doktor Archeville [maxed] Lord of the Manor (2) Money, Money, Money (2) 4 posts = 1pp + Ref = 2pp Protectron 0 posts = 0pp GM and NPC None
  21. In order to make sure the Refs accurately count all your IC posts and award you the due amount of power points, please post with a list of all the threads in which your character posted IC this month (including the News forum). Remember that we require that posts be a minimum of about 500 characters. You can see here what a 400, 500, and 600 character post looks like. Posts shorter than 500 characters will not be counted. Please also mark things from the Non-Canonical forum as being non-canonical, as those count 1/2 (2 posts made for your char in a non-canon thread count as 1 post for the char). And if you are GMing something, list those threads, too. GM-only posts count as full posts, and can be assigned to whichever of your characters needs a 'push' to get up in post numbers. When you make your list, please post a link to the IC threads -- preferably to the top of the page where your first post for that month appears -- so we (and the auto-count program) can jump right to it. When you post the link to your thread, the URL should look like this http://www.freedomplaybypost.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=4478&p=100643#p100643 or this http://www.freedomplaybypost.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=4478&start=10 or this http://www.freedomplaybypost.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=4478 NOT this http://www.freedomplaybypost.com/viewtopic.php?p=100643#p100643 The four digit number in the URL (bolded & underlined in the correct example) is the thread id number which we need to use the autocountamotron. When you start a thread, make sure [iC] is in the title/subject line of the IC thread, and [OOC] is in the title of the OOC thread. If you make a post in an IC thread as a GM or an NPC, add [GM] in the subject line of the thread. If you make a post and [iC] is not in the subject line, the AutoCounter will not count it. And if you do not put [GM] in the places you post as an NPC or Ref, it won't count those properly. Please list your threads in alphabetical order. Please clearly note any threads in which you are both player and GM/running an NPC. Also, when you start a new thread, please mark it on the appropriate Chronicles page. (If you have a handle here, you have an account for the Wiki, and anyone with an account can edit it.) You do not have to be specific on the date, but I would like to keep track of when things are happening relative to each other. The Chronicles/Timeline also serves as an index for everything we've done in the nearly three years this site's been active, and it's useful to know if X happens before or after Y. If you've done any "extracurriculars" -- artwork, HellQ, 20 Questions, NPC, Vignette, Wiki work, etc. -- please be sure to list them along with your active threads. Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in your post counts being postponed or skipped completely.
  22. The super-revenant shook his head, "seen lots of possessions in my time, an' this had lots of the earmarks of one. But," he scratched his chin in thought, "all the cases I know where possession was tied to some object -- like a bit of jewelry or a mask -- the objects stays behind once the possession's ended. It's usually where the possessin' spirit goes back to once it's kicked out of its host. If the object's gone with the spirit, then-" "Waitasec," he muttered as he looked over the three bodies, "they didn't put those masks on, did they? I saw 'em reach into their jackets as I was shamblin' up, but it looked like they was goin' fer guns, not masks." He knelt by one and started going through his pockets, "maybe somethin' on 'im they used to call up the spirit, a runestone or somethin'... an' maybe they didn't know just what it was they'd be callin' up, based on how a-feared they seemed when those spirits did manifest."
  23. Re: Caps Breaking I have always been aware that this could be a concern, and all I can offer is my word that I will never use a combination of effects that would allow Dok to break past his PL 15 caps (and more often than not keep him at PL 12). Re: Utility Coat I admit I left the ranks as they were b/c that's where Shaen (whose build I'd copied) had put them. If you'd rather see them knocked down to rank 4 or 5, to be more in-line with Equipment from the books, I'd be fine with that. (The whole purpose of his Utility Belt/Coat was to give him a bit more variety, and is far from being central to him.) For the two you point out: the goo grenades represent a nonlethal sticky/restraining foam; Real World problems mostly center around using them from flamethrower-like guns (clogging, improper aiming), which a thrown grenade would avoid, while other issues (accidentally blocking mouth & nose and thus suffocating the target, the foam or the solvents used to dissolve it having toxic effects) are ones I'd like to think Dok could work out. The fear gas... is straight from Shaen's build, but psychochemical weapons do have some real-world precedents. Also, in PM you'd questioned why he had Hide in Plain Sight with his Concealment. The reason for it (and the Enhanced Skill/Stealth, which I limited to what a PL 12 char could have) is to represent how advanced his "stealth system" is: even "standard" methods of piercing cloaks like his don't automatically work. (In a rules sense, it's so a 2pp Vision Penetrates Concealment can't automatically trump his 8pp worth of Concealment; the seeker would still need to make a Notice check vs. his Stealth.)
