For the record, Dok's had his Enhanced Mind on Enhanced Charisma the whole time he's been interacting with Edge & Nina. Dok's initiative (1d20+7=15)
-
Edge isn't telepathic, is he? No, so no way to send him a private message. (No need to 'think only good thought' around him, either!) Ah, for the days I used to work with Scarab. But, here and now is where I am needed! Well, if this thing is dragon -- it's something, that teleported in from somewhere -- I may as well play the part and see where it leads. And in so doing, perhaps get it, or whoever sent it, to tip their hand. The Doktor bowed to the beast, "" His mind raced as it came up with a fanciful tale, which he hoped would give Edge and Nina time to prepare a counterattack should it come to such. "" he clasped Edge by the shoulders, ""
-
... hunh. Well, I certainly don't recall seeing any dragon caves when I excavated the sub-basements, nor do I remember making any dragons. And if it was something my Other made, it should've made itself known by now. It's also speaking modern German. Which could be a telepathic trick, or a sign of a more modern creation. He took his eyes off the creature rearing before him just long enough to take a quick peek down the hole, just enough for his superhumanly fast mind to process what his sensors were telling him. And they told him an interesting tale. "" he muttered to himself, "

Protectron -- Fatigued (-2 Str & Dex, -1 Att & Def), Injury -- 2 HP So Protectron's at Attack +5, +11 Melee, Str 32/+11, Grapple +23, Defense +6 (+2 flat-footed) They've charged, so their Defense is (10+4-2) 12. I'm going to assume these guys are Minions, like the others, so I can Take 10 on attack rolls. Standard Action: Unarmed strike on baseball bat Defensive Attack maneuver (-2 Attack, +2 Defense) Take 10 on the attack gets (10+11-2) 19, easily hitting the Print. Damage is DC (15+11) 26, which they can't pass with their +4 to Toughness, and since they're minions any failed Toughness save KOs them. Reaction: use Improved Grab to grapple KO'd baseball bat-wielding Print. (Taking 10, attack roll is 19 [hits], grapple check is (10+23-2) 31 [which he can't beat]) Move Action: Throw baseball bat-wielding Print at sledgehammer-wielding Print (which you can do as a Move action if it's in the same round as when you grapple your foe) Take 10 on the ranged attack is a (10+5-2) 13, which hits (but only because they charged)! In Chat there's been talk recently about how to handle throwing people into other people, and I believe the consensus is that it's treated like throwing objects: Damage done to the target equals the thrower's Str bonus, plus a bit extra if the thrown person's Toughness exceeds the thrower's Str [which, in this case, it does not]. So, Damage would be the same as Protectron's unarmed strike, DC 25, which KOs the targeted Print. Knockback = Damage (10) - 2 (half their Toughness) = 8 = up to 250 feet. Protectron will aim to knock them back to the door they came up out of, hopefully delaying anyone else coming up that way. Two Prints (baseball bat, sledgehammer) down, one (crowbar) still up. Protectron -- Fatigued (-2 Str & Dex, -1 Att & Def), Injury -- 2 HP Has used Defensive Attack (-2 Attk/+2 Def) Attack +3, +9 Melee, Str 32/+11, Grapple +21, Defense +8 (+4 flat-footed)
-
Toughness saves, DC 19 (1d20+15=18, 1d20+15=28) First one fails, but second one easily passes.
-
Protectron's hand darted up and grabbed the baseball bat, redirecting it slightly downward so that its other hand struck the Print's jaw as it shot up. As the man crumpled it released the bat and brought that hand up to the man's torso, lifting him off the ground enough to toss him at the sledgehammer-wielding Print. The force knocked the second Print out, and the robot's immense strength sent both sliding back to the door from which they'd come! Attention, it radioed back to the dispatcher, gym has been compromised, multiple Prints within. Injured but un-Print-ed citizen is with me, I shall attempt to locate a safer spot for him.
-
The mighty golden robot easily dodged one of the two Prints, but in so doing left itself wide open to the other two! The baseball bat and crowbar both landed on Protectron's head, but while the crowbar dinged against the thick plating on the front of the robot's skull, the bat hit the robot where its cheekbones would be, and left a noticeable dent.
-
Are they to be treated as Minions? Protectron's initiative (1d20+5=7) They've got the drop on 'im (er, it)! (Which means Protectron's flat-footed, so its Defense is a mere 13!)
-
Was going to PM you, but realized it'd be better to ask things here. First off: ... it's a red x? A hologram? (Is it Sharl up to his old tricks?) If it is some sort of projection, does the Tracking on Dok's Screwdriver's radio senses indicate from where it's being projected?

(The other two Conventions, the New World Order [the folks behind the Men in Black conspiracies] and The Syndicate ["the Gnomes of Zurich are real, and you are their plaything"], are pretty much impossible to spin heroically.) The Void Engineers are explorers who push the boundaries in every direction conceivable, at the bottom of the ocean, amongst the highest mountain peaks, the heart of the densest jungles, the cold depths of space, and even other dimensions. But they do more than explore: the guard against potential invaders, and work to make sure the Things Out There don't come to bother the Masses. "Explorers?," you say? "How's that heroic?" To answer that, you need look no further than DC's Challengers of the Unknown, or Marvel's Fantastic Four. Being a hero doesn't mean just going out and punching out bad guys (though if you come across any in your travels, give them what for!), it can also be about being an embodiment of hope, and hope is strongly tied to the sense of adventure. Yes, exploring can (and too often has) be about finding new resources (both material and human) to exploit, but it can also be about striving for something more than what you have, something better for the present and the future. For SCIENCE DISCOVERY! This build presents an explorer who's pretty good on their own (defensively, he's PL 7, though a mere PL 3 offensively), but with their hyperadvanced suit, they really shine. The suit's not as combat-ready as most other battlesuits -- you're an explorer, not a fighter (though that can easily change in-play), so the focus is on getting to new places and observing them -- but like trollthumper's Aquatic Battlesuit it just so happens that many of your exploration-based powers can also double as combat powers. The fantastic energies that power your dimensional drive can open hazardous portals near your foes (and my Tesseract build gives other samples stunts), and the air jets you use to blow dust off ancient artifacts can knock foes far away! (Of course, if you want to play up the "explores to find threats to humanity, and prepares to beat them back," you could drop some of the Super-Senses and buy off the Action Flaw from the Blasts, or add some Impervious Toughness, perhaps as an Active Sustained 'force field' [which could have a Concealment 'cloaking field' as an AP]. Imaginauts focused on countering extradimensional threats would be perfectly justified in having a Nullify Dimensional Effects AP in their Explorer's Array.) Origins are many: he could be a human explorer seeking new life & new civilizations (and stopping those who would exploit them), or an extraterrestrial (or extradimensional) explorer come to see what all the hubbub is on this tiny blue world called Earth. -
Baseball Bat seems reasonable, but Crowbar's definitely one to watch for. Agitated, edgy... ah, yes, I know just what to do. The 'old Russian' clutched the safety deposit box closer, but Baseball Bat's calm(er) words got him to relax a bit. "Yes... is only personal things, no valuables. Not valuable for you. Is pictures, of... of my wife." Being sure to keep one eye on the two thieves, he set the box down on the nearest surface, and opened it, revealing several black and white pictures of a strikingly beautiful young woman. "These are all I have of my Maria. We lost so much, in the pogroms... Archeville spun a tale of woe, spoken mostly at Crowbar, telling of a youth spent in the harsh Soviet Union, first under the tail end of Stalin's regime, then during the paranoia of the Cold War. The harsh days, the harsher nights, the chance encounter with a ballet dancer, her harsher life due to her Jewish family being constantly uprooted, and of their love that was almost lost when they were separated while fleeing their country for hopes of a better life elsewhere. His voice trailed off in many places, but the man soldiered on despite the grief it caused him.

Alright, let's try something novel: utter despair. Extra Effort for a new stunt on Dok's Enhanced Mind (16 points): Drain Will 2 (Extras: Alt Save [Will], Linked [Emotion Control], Range 2 [Perception]; Flaws: Action [Full], Sense-Dependent [Auditory]) {2} + Emotion Control 12 (Extra: Area [Perception, General], Linked [Drain Will]; Flaws: Action [Full], One Emotion [Despair]; PFs: Insidious, Subtle) {14} {2+14=16/16} Descriptor: Telling a tale of utter woe, using his vast knowledge of human psychology and quick reaction times, and noting of the listener's microexpressions to gauge reactions, to tailor it to have maximum stunning effect. He's focusing slightly more on Crowbar, hence theLinked Drain Will effect, targeting him. Those within 60 feet (that Archeville can accurately perceive), who can hear "the old Russian's" tale, must make a DC 22 Will save, or be shaken (-2 attack, defenses, checks); those who fail by 10 or more are so affected they can do nothing (i.e., are helpless and can take no actions). In addition, Crowbar must first make a DC 12 Will save vs. the Drain Will 2 effect. Anyone observing the area (either from within or without), gets a Notice check, DC 20 (which they automatically pass if they have some super-sense that would detect mental/social manipulation), to notice that there is something more than just an old man telling a story going on here. Remember the save rules for Minions: if they fail, they take the worst result (so even if they fail by 1, they're treated as if they failed by 10+). Since he's lost his Enhanced Charisma, you could rule that he no longer gets its bonus to his Disguise check, so now it's easier to see through his disguise -- so now it's a DC 18 Notice check to see through his Disguise. 5 HP, will be Fatigued at start of next round.

Correction, Protectron radioed back as rocks pinged harmlessly off its futuristic metal shell, there are six Harry Print doppelgangers at the scene. Seventh individual is not a Print, but appears to have been injured in the crash. I am evacuating him to safety for treatment and study. The mighty mechanical 'man' landed next to the injured man, largely ignoring the projectiles being hurled at it. "I am here to help, citizen," it announced as it bent down to carefully scoop up the injured form. Some of the Prints tried to grab for it and drag it down, but Protectron easily shrugged off their grips. Once it had the patient in hand, it flew up and over to the nearest rooftop, so it could get a better look at him. "How do you feel, citizen? On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate your pain?"

Irish accents and looks, but slang, grammar and syntax indicate American English was learned first, so they're most likely locals, or maybe from Boston or Philadelphia. Reference to a boss, he's probably the only one with metahuman abilities, so these would just be hired lackeys. Are the two items related - is this some 'ethnic gang'? "Box? What?," the 'old man' said, appearing a bit confused by the chaos, but quickly he recovered. "No! I mean, sure, take vault, I no care -- bank is insured, they get monies back. Just do not hurt people, no more... and you cannot have my box!" He clutched his safety deposit box close to his chest. If they're focused on me, at least they're not targeting anyone else. I've got to find out who's the one calling the shots, though. The sonics imply Coda or Maestro, but they wouldn't rob a bank, or Rant, but there's no light show, so Rave's not here, and he wouldn't be here without her.

Dead Head was scrounging through the alleys, checking the dumpsters and drainage grates. Mutt was there, too, invisibly sniffing around the alley-facing windows in case something passed through the area. A woman's voice caught his attention: a attractive brunette passed by the mouth of the alley, caught in her own little world as she jabbered away on her cell. But something about her was familiar, and at the sight of her he suddenly felt a fluttering in his chest, as one might feel when they view their beloved in just the right light. "Well that cain't be right..." He placed a hand over his chest, then suddenly plunged it in. He rooted around for the offending bit, and after a moment drew out the communication runestone Cimitiere had given him. "Glad I can set this thing t'vibrate... hey! Ain't found nothin' yet, unless ya think it was a pyromanaic roach what done her in."

Technically, yes, I should have upped the Duration on the initial attack (I think I even admitted such in an earlier post), this is my attempt to work around my earlier omission. I think this way -- having him spend a Standard action each round to direct their attack, and they stop once he stops 'concentrating' on them -- is a decent workaround. It should probably have Indirect though, yes. So knock the rank down by 1 (to Drain Toughness 15) and add a rank of Indirect. On second thought, since the rank's going to be divided in half (due to its Immunity), reduce it by 2 ranks (to Drain Toughness 14), and add Indirect and Slow Fade (so it won't be regaining a point of Drained Toughness every round)!

"Weeellllll...," he began, which Mona knew was one of his cues for lapsing into a lengthy expository. To his credit, when he saw the look she shot him, he gave her a slight nod, indicating his agreement to keep it brief and not too technical. "... there are a number of things out there, more than most realize. Much of it is perfectly explainable by science, even without getting too advanced. Some stories about vampires, for example, stem from misunderstanding how diseases are transmitted, and some stories about werewolves stem from people with hypertrichosis, a genetic condition that causes abnormal amount of hair growth on the body. Some stories are from individuals with truly metahuman abilities, but they were mutant humans, or aliens from some other planet, or another dimension. And some... some defy rational, scientific explanation, despite our best efforts."

Good Lord, but this is painful! But I cannot fall -- must not fall! These people are counting on Kristin and me to stop it, and I cannot let it continue running free! And speaking of running free, now that some of my nanites are inside it, I can tell them to keep chewing on it from the inside... assuming its own internal defenses haven't taken them out! Have to concentrate... reach out and find their signal... Though it appeared Archeville was lying motionless on the ground -- which for the most part he was -- he had managed to turn himself so he got a good, solid look at the Gremlin. He did reach out to the nanites he had injected into the 'creature' and tweaked their already-tweaked programming so they continued to attack it, but feedback signals also agitated some of the altered nanites still within him, and they continued their efforts at chewing through his GI system!

I'm honestly not sure if it'd be a House Rule or not, since I don't think it's spelled out clearly in the RAW! It's still in the plane, at the hole leading out to the wing, right? Dok - 3 HP - Nauseated, Bruised Reaction: HP to gain a new feat, a new Alternate Power for Dok's Brain (2 HP now) Move Action: Reconfigure Brain to the new stunt! Drain Toughness 16 (Extras: Affects Objects, Range [Ranged]; Flaws: Distracting, Side Effect) [16/16PP] Side Effect: Damage 5 (Extra: Alternate Save [Fort]) {10} + Nauseate 11 {22) {10+22=32/32) (rank 16 effect + Attack +8 = PL 12 attack) Dok 'tells' the Nanites he just injected into the Gremlin to keep chewing. But some of the ones still in him chew more, too. Free Action: Extra Effort to SURGE, gaining a Standard Action Standard Action: Command nanites, i.e., attack Gremlin's Defense is 22 To hit Gremlin (Defense 22) (1d20+8=18) so close! To hit Gremlin (Defense 22); HP re-roll (1d20+8=14) +10 = 24 = hits! Fort saves vs. Damage (DC 20) and Nauseate (DC 21) (1d20+4=16, 1d20+4=22) Damage fails by 4, so that's another Bruise (but not Dazed!), and Nauseate one passes, so no worsening of that. Dok - 1 HP - Nauseated, Bruised x2, will be Fatigued at start of next round

It would seem Mark's adventures and experiences have managed to teach him a thing or two. I do hope he does not lose too much of his childlike wonder, though, because- what the? In a flash Archeville's electromagnetic screwdriver was in his hand, held up the way Peter Cushing held up a crucifix in so many Hammer horror films. "There should be nothing there! Whatever Edge did not smash, AEGIS and UNISON carted off, and whatever they did not take was pieced out to other ArcheTech facilities!" Unless something managed to escape in the brief window between Edge's meteoric strike and the cleanup crew moving in. But if anything had, surely it would have been found by now, or fallen dead or inoperative from killswitches set to prevent any escapes or thefts from wreaking havoc.

Dok uses his E.S. to scan for things. All the things. Super-Senses 12 (analytical for all radio, extended for all radio, tracking for all radio; detect electromagnetic radiation 3 [radio], detect physical objects 3 [radio]) {12/20}

Archeville began to smile, but then stopped, and a serious look fell upon his face. "You sound slightly... uncomfortable with what you are doing. Disappointed, even." He placed a hand on the young reality warper's shoulder and looked him in the eye, "but you do see how big an impact you are having out there, yes? What you do for those people matters more to them than almost anything the League or Young Freedom ever did. It is easy to talk about saving the world," he took his hand from Mark's shoulder and spread both arms wide, "and heroes work hard to fight off the supervillains and alien invaders and other threats to the world. But most people around the world do not see those threats, or only see them in an abstract manner. But food in their bellies, shelter over their heads, that, they can see, and having those basic needs provided matters more than any Grue warship or SHADOW war-wheel we might bring down. It may not be as glamorous, but it is no less important."
-
"Indeed so!," Archeville enthusiastically agreed, clasping a hand to Steve's shoulder. "Do send everyone at HAX my well-wishes, and, please," he gestured towards the half-finished deli platter, "feel free to take as much as you like with you! Oh, and send Miss Americana my best wishes, too -- you are still together, yes?" He cocked his head slightly to one side, "I remember when you came together, to Providence, to see me." He looked straight ahead, to catch Steve's eyes with his, and shook his hand, "and I hope the best for you, my friend."

I'm... honestly not sure! Up to you, since you're the one running this thread!

Fort save, w/ cumulative +1 bonus, vs. DC 21 (1d20+5=13) That fails by 8, so he's merely nauseated now, I believe. Which means he could act (after Scuffles makes her IC post)!
