  1. "Oh, I know well the problems with power supplies!," he said with a grin. He knelt down a bit, raised a palm to the side of his mouth, and stage-whispered to Fatima, "why, just a few weeks ago, someone on my staff -- I will not say who -- made a breakthrough in energy storage cells, but we had to shelve it when we realized it would be child's play to convert it into a potent energy blaster!" He stood back up again, gave Mona's sister a wink, and sniffed the air again. "ah, that smells so good! I cannot wait to see it, and the skilled culinary master who has prepared it!" As he walked through the living room, he looked all about him, quickly scanning and memorizing the photographs.
  2. That works much better, yes. Everything looks alright, so here's your first :approved:
  3. Archeville's eyes widened at the scene before him; the sight afflicted him with a temporary logorrhea. "Black hand, schwarze Hand, La Mano Nera, Crna ruka, death or unification, unify, unity, absorb, absorbing all energy, light is energy... ahhhhhh! Too much, too much, have I doomed her?, have I doomed us?, is it even really her? No, no, of course it is, Scarab said so; Scarab would not lie, would she? All a dream, an illusion, to keep me away? Still on Nede? Still in Providence? How would I-" Stop it, Viktor! Pull yourself together! This is no dream, no hallucination, this! is! real! The people are scared, and look to your for guidance and answers, but more importantly, Mona needs you, now more than ever! And you know what that might entail. And you know she is worth it. Archeville fell silent; an assured calm settled over him. Jaw set, eyes steeled, he sprinted down to the great crystal. "Mona!," he yelled, barely audible over the energy siphoning effects, "Mona, I am here! We are here! We brought your cocoon back, and have worked so hard to free you! You are almost through, almost free -- just a bit more!" But you might need something more. Something to stabilize you. A very specific type of energy. Energy only a living being can provide, ideally a living human. Without hesitation, he reached out with both hands to the black hand that had burst forth, and grabbed on. If so, take what you need from me. You can do more good with it than I. He braced himself, not knowing if Mona was going to pull herself out of the cocoon, or pull away some -- or all -- of his life essence. Either way, he'd be there for her.
  4. "Respectfully, Friend-Supercape, you speak in error," the golden robot's flat voice announced, directed at the physicist. "The design for the suggested imagery was not mine alone, but rather a collaborative effort; you supplied the initial iconography, which I expanded upon." "As for the security matter," it continued, turning just enough to face the monitors, "Friend-Supercape believes I am worthy of the responsibility of having expanded access to The Lab, and a commensurate increase in duties. I shall do my utmost to prove worthy of this trust, should the rest of you agree to the change."
  5. Welcome to FC PbP! You may notice she looks a bit different: I've taken the liberty of tweaking a few formatting errors, and making a few other small corrections to make it easier to read. There's still some items you'll need to address, though (such as how Flight and Space Travel cannot be APs off each other, and that Protection from Equipment does not stack with Equipment from Powers). The background is quite nice (as is the pic), though I would like to see less ambiguity -- even if the character doesn't know where she's from, the player should. More importantly, though, is my concern that she may not be a good fit here. As she is now, she seems to me more like someone that should be a recurring guest character in an FC comic, not the main character of one. The "beats bad guys, steals their stuff, and sells it" is also a touch troubling. How do you see her interacting with the characters and setting? What would Stormbreaker's comic be about, what sort of stories/adventures would be in it, who might team up with her?
  6. Transcranial direct current stimulation can make your brain work better. But Voltage already knew this.
  7. The golden robot nodded, "the Rutherford model of the atom does seem to be an iconic 'science-y' image. Perhaps superimposed over a silhouette of the Lab building, which, with its egg-like shape, also carries symbolic connotations." When Supercape suggested white for Protectron's own garment, the robot looked up at the monitors, shifting the examples shown to various shades of white. "Cleanliness will not be difficult; a negligible amount of power stored within the cape can be redirected to generate the static dis-" The strange robot cut itself short at the super-physicist's mention of security. The robot gave Supercape a curt nod, "shall I call the others? It generally requires at least two founding members to enact any major changes to the Lab's security systems. While here, we can also query them on their thoughts regarding Lab iconography."
  8. Would now be a good time to invite Dragonfly or Ironclad or Miss A?
  9. Okay, good, got the people out, an' the fire brigade's on the way, so that's my cue t'exit. Dead Head leaped out through the window, landing hard on and breaking one ankle. It barely broke his stride: he rolled up and ran towards the hospital, limping slightly at first until his supernatural recuperative abilities mended the breaks in mere seconds. As he ran in as straight a path as he could manage -- leaping (awkwardly) over speeding cars, ducking down alleys, hoisting himself up fire escapes to dash across rooftops -- his mind was on one thing: the psychic connection between Mutt & himself that Phantom & Nick Cimitiere had been helping them forge. Mutt, can ya hear me? Were ya able to track Gorsky's workshop? Didja- oh, nevermind that. If ya can hear me, meet me at McNider Memorial Hospital -- we got an arsonist t'catch!
  10. "Ain't drawin' a line, 'Nox, jes'..." Dead Head shrugged, "jes' tryin' t'be polite 'bout it, is all." He turned back to Ghost Girl, and found himself smiling again. "Yeah, too many people think yer rights end when yer dead, but 't'ain't so! They don't need as much protectin', sure, but some -- no one wants t'be forgotten 'bout. Oh, an' the cultists," he rolled his eyes (though they remained in his head, this time), "always thinkin' they's gonna be the next Malador, gonna 'sunder the gates 'tween this world an' the next!,'" he intoned with deep mockery. "Honestly, I don't know which is worse -- the few who do have both the power an' knowledge t'be a threat, or the dozens more with jes' a taste a power an' hardly any knowledge! You know how many ghouls I had to put down last year when a few pages of De Vermis Mysteriis got out to the frats at Freedom College?"
  11. The crystalline matrix greedily absorbed the quintet of power beams, rapidly draining the Mk VII cells. "First one's almost drained!" a technician cried out, her voice barely carrying over the growing silence. "Pull in a-," Dr. Yang started to shout back, but stopped when he saw Archeville waving towards one section of the far wall. "Power cells are not enough! Tie the transfer beams directly into the building's power grid!" He shouted as he flew over to the wall and tore open the panels. He thrust his hands into the rainbow of cables and pipes, pulling out lines to hand off to workers who ran them back to the transfer beams. A nearby computer monitor switched to the ArcheTech intranet instant messenger. Words appeared on the message box, as if typed by an invisible operator (or by a nearby German cyberkinetic): EMERGENCY POWER DIVERSION TO SUB-BASEMENT 3 -- LIFE IN BALANCE Lights throughout ArcheTech dimmed as power was sucked down into the basement laboratory and funneled into the crystalline cocoon. Come on, Mona... give us a sign... please be okay...
  12. Some scientists are working on making a Circuit.
  13. I'll be away this weekend. Original plan was "visit Mom, do stuff around the house, reach things on tall shelves she can't reach" now it's "see Mom, take care of her while she recovers from her kidney infection."

  17. In order to make sure the Refs accurately count all your IC posts and award you the due amount of power points, please post with a list of all the threads in which your character posted IC this month (including the News forum). Remember that we require that posts be a minimum of about 500 characters. You can see here what a 400, 500, and 600 character post looks like. Posts shorter than 500 characters will not be counted. Please also mark things from the Non-Canonical forum as being non-canonical, as those count 1/2 (2 posts made for your char in a non-canon thread count as 1 post for the char). And if you are GMing something, list those threads, too. GM-only posts -- as well as NPC Villain posts -- also count 1/2, and can be assigned to whichever of your characters needs a 'push' to get up in post numbers. When you make your list, please post a link to the IC threads -- preferably to the top of the page where your first post for that month appears -- so we (and the auto-count program) can jump right to it. When you post the link to your thread, the URL should look like this http://www.freedomplaybypost.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=4478&p=100643#p100643 or this http://www.freedomplaybypost.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=4478&start=10 or this http://www.freedomplaybypost.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=4478 NOT this http://www.freedomplaybypost.com/viewtopic.php?p=100643#p100643 The four digit number in the URL (bolded & underlined in the correct example) is the thread id number which we need to use the autocountamotron. When you start a thread, make sure [iC] is in the title/subject line of the IC thread, and [OOC] is in the title of the OOC thread. If you make a post in an IC thread as a GM or an NPC, add [GM] in the subject line of the thread. If you make a post and [iC] is not in the subject line, the AutoCounter will not count it. And if you do not put [GM] in the places you post as an NPC or Ref, it won't count those properly. Please list your threads in alphabetical order. Please clearly note any threads in which you are both player and GM/running an NPC. Also, when you start a new thread, please mark it on the Timeline (if you have a handle here, you have an account for the Wiki, and anyone with an account can edit it). You do not have to be specific on the date, but I would like to keep track of when things are happening relative to each other. The Timeline also serves as an index for everything we've done in the nearly three years this site's been active, and it's useful to know if X happens before or after Y. If you've done any extracurriculars -- artwork, HellQ, 20 Questions, NPC, Vignette, Wiki work, etc. -- please be sure to list them along with your active threads. Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in your post counts being postponed or skipped completely.
  18. And on a related note, a thread I'm in with Supercape lead us to realize the Lab doesn't have a logo/icon. Should that be addressed?
  19. The Doktor gave no indication he head anything Carrie had said, directing much of his focus on the great crystals and the monitors scanning it, and a smidgen of attention to what the technicians around him were saying (which wasn't anything he hadn't already figured out). "Drawing in energy," he muttered, "to fuel something? Kickstart the next stage of her... metamorphosis? Or... or is she expelling her Terminus energies, purging all her superpowers and returning to her non-powered self, but those energies interact with everything here in matter/antimatter-like fashion? No, no, that cannot be it, not nearly explosive enough... unless the process snuffed any explosions... a great field of Nothing, with Mona Teymourian at the center..." His eyes went wide, unfocused, then snapped back to one monitor, "psi-scanners showing increased activity... psi-scanners showing increased activity!," he repeated more forcefully, excitement dawning upon his face, "consciousness is returning! It must be her, working to get out!" He ran his hands through his unwashed hair, "how to help how to help how to help... cannot help: pull the butterfly free from the cocoon, its wings will not be strong enough to fly. Not that we have anything that can break that cocoon..." He froze, and began to hyperventilate a bit. No no no get a hold of yourself Viktor she needs you Cannot pull her out, but maybe put something in- He suddenly clapped his hands sharply, "yes! Doctor Yang," he faced the scientist with intense eyes and a manic grin, "we need more power, pumped in to the crystal, to help Fulcrum out. Power transfer beams, at the facet intersections there, there, there, there, and there," he pointed out a lopsided pentagon shape around the crack, "so the crystal can act as a buffer to help regulate power flow. The Mk. VII fuel cells should do; we probably will not have to tap into the building's power supply directly."
