  1. "Ready as I will ever be, liebchen," Archeville breathed. "Say," he said, grinning as he went through his mental German-English-Spanish-Farsi dictionary, "would that not be 'Khaane Teymourian' Or should it be 'Munzel-'" Sissy's arrival interrupted any further grammatical questioning, as he was compelled to join Mona in rubbing the dog behind her ears. "Oh, what a lovely specimen!"
  2. Beg us! BEEEGGG!!!! *ahem* Well, Cyroa's plagued by RL issues so Dark Star'd be out, and I've got Dok on wacky Terminus adventures, so hr'd be out of anything in the immediate future. And I don't know what durf's plate is like (I'm guessing "full") so I don't know how available Ace would be. But Fleur & Freedom Angel would, as far as I know, be free to fight bad guys with Gabe and get him intro'd to the League. FA being the one to sponsor Gabe for membership makes the most sense, given their backgrounds. Perhaps something demonic pops up on Sanctuary, and Fleur calls in some experts to help out? And in doing so Gabe shows the "best of the best" qualities that would be needed for a League member.
  3. Dead head eventually made it to the cheap hotel, down alleyways and darkened side streets, even trudging through some sewers at one points. Man, 'venger's gonna hate I'm ruinin' his pants like this. Now he stood behind a dumpster at the side of a gas station across the street from the hotel, looking right at the window he'd seen Gorsky peek out from. He continued switching viewpoints between the eye in his head and the one in Gorsky's pocket, alternating between watching his activities and watching for anyone approaching his room. Looks clear, but no way to tell if there's someone approaching from inside. Waiting until he was reasonably sure he had a clear (un-viewed) shot, he dashed across the road to Gorsky's window, and waited, listening. Should be able to hear if he's trying to contact anyone. Well, unless he does so telepathically.
  4. I think Gabe's powers (breadth and depth) & personality would make him an excellent fit for the Freedom League Auxiliary (along -- technically -- with Ace Danger, Dark Star, Doktor Archeville, Fleur de Joie, and Freedom Angel).
  5. "While I am capable of perfectly recording sensory input for later playback and broadcast," it replied flatly, "I assure you there is no Cartesian Theater in my cranial unit." As Supercape spoke, Protectron's optics whirred softly as it went through assorted visual scans. It could study a person in amazing detail, so why shouldn't it? By the time the quantum physicist had stopped talking, Protectron had a full physiometric measure of the man. "This device," it said, shifting more of its focus to the 'atom smasher' behind Supercape, taking precise measurements of every component it could see, "is a cutting edge particle accelerator, which uses electromagnetic fields to propel charged particles to high speeds and to contain them in well-defined beams. Many of the concepts behind it were originated by Norwegian particle physicist Rolf Widerøe and Austro-Hungarian physicist Leó Szilárd, and the first one was manufactured by American physicist Ernest Orlando Lawrence. The Lab's accelerator is a multifunction one, capable of operating in low- and high-energy modes, linearly or cyclically." "Why do you wear a cape?," it asked suddenly, though still looking a the device.
  6. A ghostly howl pierced the night, a howl Equinox and Nick were both fairly familiar with. Ghost Girl had heard howls similar to it before, though this was perhaps more primal than any she'd heard before. The source of it soon became apparent: up on one of the cemeteries' numerous hills stood a tall, thin figure, illuminated from behind by one of the old iron street lights so the only feature that could be made out were the twin orbs of green flame in his eyes. The hound beside him, a massive St. Bernard or Mastiff, had similarly glowing red eyes, which were baring down on Ghost Girl. Or, more accurately, on Hayley, who was right in front of/in Ghost Girl. Raccoooooon!!! Mutt loped down the hill, in his naturally intangible state, making a beeline for the furry familiar he enjoyed chasing so much -- for all he was a creature of Guinee, he was also still a dog -- but the small woodland creature was too nimble, and hoped out of the way. Mutt continued into Kimber, and crashed into her, just as a regular dog would a living, breathing girl! Ghosty Girly! Mutt quickly lost interest in Hayley, and instead focused on licking Kimber's face.
  7. Dead Head holds so he & Mutt act at the same time, then both will try to Bluff/Trick the taureau-trois-graines into charging/focusing on them, not Nick or Equinox (or anyone else). Mutt Move Action: Trot to Dead Head's side Standard Action: Aids Dead Head's Bluff Bluff check to Aid Dead Head (DC 10) (1d20=16) Dead Head Standard Action: Bluff/Trick Bluff check to Trick taureau-trois-graines (1d20+3=22) w00t Reaction: ready to Interpose on behalf of anyone in case his taunts don't work
  8. C'mon back, boy, we got us a steer t'russle! he thought to his companion as he removed his leather jacket. Ohboyohboyohboy! 'member, 'e's gotta be able ta see ya! Mutt came racing back through the air, barking at the taureau-trois-graines as he passed over and landed near Dead Head. Dead Head himself joined in, whooping and hollering and dancing about in an attempt to draw the beastie's attention. He'd even start fluorishing his jacket like a matador's cape. "Heeey, bully-boy! How ya expect t'run after anyone if ya keep trippin' over them things?"
  9. I am most like Twilight Sparkle I'm a bit surprised at my Rarity and Rainbow Dash levels (expected them to be lower) and Fluttershy rating (expected that to be higher), but the Applejack and Pinkie Pie readings seem spot-on, as does the overall placement into Twilight Sparkle's camp. But as our resident Brony points out, there's more to Rarity than being a Fashionista, she's a perfectionist who gets hung up on details (and is generous with her resources when it comes to helping others), so that fits.
  10. FC:PbP is offering the community another "vignette" opportunity! December is a hectic month for many. For students and teachers, it's the end of the Fall semester, so tests and projects are due. There's also the assorted holidays, and the rush of gift-buying and -making, decorating, baking, and spending time with friends & family. But we also know you like to post here, and chances to earn extra points. This month, we're giving players the chance to revisit our old vignettes. Not everyone's had a chance to submit something for all of them, and even if you have, some of them (like the New Year's Eve ones) could be redone. Who: Any player who is interested. What: See prior Vignette instructions When: The deadline for submissions will be Saturday, December 31st by 11:59 PM EST (GMT -5). The time the vignettes themselves take place is detailed in the individual vignette entries. Where: See prior Vignette. Why: To enhance our community, to flex your writing muscles, to think more deeply about (or put a new spin on) your characters, and to earn a bonus PP for your character for the month of December. How: Once your story is finished and proofed, post it in this very thread here! Additional Notes/Clarification: Vignettes do not count as posts. The "Musical episode" vignette may take place in June 2009 (the time of the original episode), or at a later time. If doing so during the original event, but your char was not in FC (or not an active superhero at the time), you can still do so; the magic reaches out to those destined for greatness. If at a later time, please include something about your character finding an odd crystal or something which had captured some of the magic, and releases it when your char touches it. Post here with questions. 21. In order to make sure the Refs accurately count all your IC posts and award you the due amount of power points, please post with a list of all the threads in which your character posted IC this month (including the News forum). Remember that we require that posts be a minimum of about 500 characters. You can see here what a 400, 500, and 600 character post looks like. Posts shorter than 500 characters will not be counted. Please also mark things from the Non-Canonical forum as being non-canonical, as those count 1/2 (2 posts made for your char in a non-canon thread count as 1 post for the char). And if you are GMing something, list those threads, too. GM-only posts -- as well as NPC Villain posts -- also count 1/2, and can be assigned to whichever of your characters needs a 'push' to get up in post numbers. When you make your list, please post a link to the IC threads -- preferably to the top of the page where your first post for that month appears -- so we (and the auto-count program) can jump right to it. When you post the link to your thread, the URL should look like this http://www.freedomplaybypost.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=4478&p=100643#p100643 or this http://www.freedomplaybypost.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=4478&start=10 or this http://www.freedomplaybypost.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=4478 NOT this http://www.freedomplaybypost.com/viewtopic.php?p=100643#p100643 The four digit number in the URL (bolded & underlined in the correct example) is the thread id number which we need to use the autocountamotron. When you start a thread, make sure [iC] is in the title/subject line of the IC thread, and [OOC] is in the title of the OOC thread. If you make a post in an IC thread as a GM or an NPC, add [GM] in the subject line of the thread. If you make a post and [iC] is not in the subject line, the AutoCounter will not count it. And if you do not put [GM] in the places you post as an NPC or Ref, it won't count those properly. Please list your threads in alphabetical order. Please clearly note any threads in which you are both player and GM/running an NPC. Also, when you start a new thread, please mark it on the Timeline (if you have a handle here, you have an account for the Wiki, and anyone with an account can edit it). You do not have to be specific on the date, but I would like to keep track of when things are happening relative to each other. The Timeline also serves as an index for everything we've done in the nearly three years this site's been active, and it's useful to know if X happens before or after Y. If you've done any extracurriculars -- artwork, HellQ, 20 Questions, NPC, Vignette, Wiki work, etc. -- please be sure to list them along with your active threads. Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in your post counts being postponed or skipped completely.
  22. Cyclops: The Worst Leader (An Interview) Ben Franklin vs. Zeus ("Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and able to kill gods.")
  23. Barely a bend, I'd say; it's a classic Silver Age-esque story, so I'd be all for seeing it on the boards -- especially since I'd love to see this place be more like the DCAU! Sorry, fresh out, but you may have this fine Each Uisge.
