  1. In order to make sure the Refs accurately count all your IC posts and award you the due amount of power points, please post with a list of all the threads in which your character posted IC this month (including the News forum). Remember that we require that posts be a minimum of about 500 characters. You can see here what a 400, 500, and 600 character post looks like. Posts shorter than 500 characters will not be counted. Please also mark things from the Non-Canonical forum as being non-canonical, as those count 1/2 (2 posts made for your char in a non-canon thread count as 1 post for the char). And if you are GMing something, list those threads, too. GM-only posts -- as well as NPC Villain posts -- also count 1/2, and can be assigned to whichever of your characters needs a 'push' to get up in post numbers. When you make your list, please post a link to the IC threads -- preferably to the top of the page where your first post for that month appears -- so we (and the auto-count program) can jump right to it. When you post the link to your thread, the URL should look like this http://www.freedomplaybypost.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=4478&p=100643#p100643 or this http://www.freedomplaybypost.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=4478&start=10 or this http://www.freedomplaybypost.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=4478 NOT this http://www.freedomplaybypost.com/viewtopic.php?p=100643#p100643 The four digit number in the URL (bolded & underlined in the correct example) is the thread id number which we need to use the autocountamotron. When you start a thread, make sure [iC] is in the title/subject line of the IC thread, and [OOC] is in the title of the OOC thread. If you make a post in an IC thread as a GM or an NPC, add [GM] in the subject line of the thread. If you make a post and [iC] is not in the subject line, the AutoCounter will not count it. And if you do not put [GM] in the places you post as an NPC or Ref, it won't count those properly. Please list your threads in alphabetical order. Please clearly note any threads in which you are both player and GM/running an NPC. Also, when you start a new thread, please mark it on the Timeline (if you have a handle here, you have an account for the Wiki, and anyone with an account can edit it). You do not have to be specific on the date, but I would like to keep track of when things are happening relative to each other. The Timeline also serves as an index for everything we've done in the nearly three years this site's been active, and it's useful to know if X happens before or after Y. If you've done any extracurriculars -- artwork, HellQ, 20 Questions, NPC, Vignette, Wiki work, etc. -- please be sure to list them along with your active threads. Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in your post counts being postponed or skipped completely.
  2. "Unfortunately," he said after giving a slightly exasperated sigh, "I have absolutely no idea. The bigger the area, the longer the search, and, well...." I have no idea if this will even work... such an impossibly large task... but I must try! Archeville could not help but grin a tiny bit at Miss Wells's words, "yes, I," his tiny grin turned into a tiny frown, "have some experience with the difficulties and intricacies of temporal travel. Though I do hope," his smile returned, and he began looking for a spot on the steampunk-esque devices where his tech could interface, "that we only have to deal with dimensional barriers and not temporal ones as well!" Finding what he believed was a proper spot, Archeville connected his tech to Wells's and began making adjustments.
  3. "'You never enter the parallel worlds you do not breach in to'?," Archeville responded, shrugging. "Something like that." Should I have called the Atoms in on this? Or Young Freedom? They all have much, much more experience with other dimensions than I do. Would they take my calls? Is my desire to do this alone -- well, semi-alone -- more hubris on my part? The Doktor scowled and shook his head, then looked up at Carrie and was smiling again. "I have it right here, actually," he said as his withdrew his shiny new Electromagnetic Screwdriver from his labcoat pocket. "Just finished rebuilding it a few days ago, and I have already fed all of Mona's biometric data and brainwave scans and anything else I thought would be useful in tracking her. Now I just need to interface it with Miss Well's devices to give it the range we will need."
  4. You say you're running a 3E game on anther board, and don't provide a link? Bah! I wish you luck with your project. May your entertainment be many and your headaches few!
  5. Exxxcellent. Intimidate check (1d20+17=31) And an HP to stunt teleport off his Necro array (same 'port he used earlier) to pop down to the Morgue.
  6. The revenant threw the man down, pointing and staring at him with an accusing glare, then vanished in a flash of violet light. He reappeared in the morgue, in one of the cadaver drawers, though this one had recently been emptied as its previous tenant had been wheeled out minutes prior. He laid still on the cold metal, listening for Agopowicz or any of the other technicians, or any guards investigating the recent weirdness. Alright, let's review: Gorsky & Cartwright was rivals. Cartwright dies in some drive-by shootin', Gorsky takes advantage of the accident t'raise him up and be his errand-zombie. Calls in them folks, sayin' he can cure their daughter. How'd Gorsky hear about 'em? Maybe they was Cartwright's patients? So, gotta bring Cartwright back here -- shouldn't leave him on Lantern Hill -- an' then find out where Gorsky learned necromagic, who had promised him "it would all be perfect" an' "showed him things." Wait, not who, what -- he said "it" told him, "it" showed him. I probably shoulda stayed an' asked while I had him.... Maybe Mutt found somethin' in his trackin'; need t'get in touch with him. Which... will be tricky, as I got not idea where he is. Eh, I can ask 'round, see if some spirit'd be willin' t'find 'im fer me.
  7. Sounded like the fella's head conked hard on the bookshelf. Good news, the screamin' should bring someone along soon t'check on 'em. Bad news, they'll find Cartwright here, or me. Best make this quick. 'Cartwright,' still maintaining his grip on Gorsky, shifted and morphed back into Dead Head, and squeezed the doctor, not enough to do any lasting harm but enough to insure his attention was focused. "Listen, Comrade, this is your one and only warning. Stop meddlin' with the dead. Use yer knowledge an' skill t'treat the livin', do what good ya can. But don't go makin' promises ya cain't keep, an' don't go 'round tryin' t'extend lives unnaturally. You ain't smart enough or wise enough t'decide who gets t'live forever, so do what ya can t'make the livin' comfortable. I do what I can t'make the dead comfortable." He pulled the doctor closer, putting his lips almost on the man's ear, "an' if I hear yer still messin' with the dead after this -- an', trust me, I will hear of it -- I'm gonna sic ev'ry ghost, haunt an' spook you had a hand in makin' after you 'till the end o' yer days!" Time t'make my exit. Just reach out like I did earlier...
  8. DH'll take both! Corrosion 6 #1: DC 16 Reflex save (Drain Toughness), DC 21 Toughness Save (1d20+6=10, 1d20+18=29) Ref sav fails by 6, so -3 Impervious Toughness; Toughness save is (29-3) = 26, which still passes. Corrosion 6 #2: DC 16 Reflex save (Drain Toughness), DC 21 Toughness Save (1d20+6=18, 1d20+15=22) Ref save passed, Toughness save passes Toughness reduced by 3 (from +18 [imp 12] to +15 [imp 9]), but no actual Damage.
  9. Dead Head interposes, saving the Richards's's from any stray/ricocheting shots! (I presume it's a run-of-the-mill handgun, not some Illuminati-forged magic bullet? I.e, do I need to make a Toughness save?)
  10. "A mental scans, yes," Archeville nodded, "since that is the only unique trait of Mona's I would have to target. Tracking her by her energy signatures would not be as feasible, since her energies are very similar to those of the interdimensional spaces." 'Victorian Express'? Is that the ferry, or the passenger train? Who knows, it could be both in that world! Ah, so many questions! The Doktor placed a hand on Miss Wells' shoulder, "I am more than grateful for any help you may give, madame. Dimensional travel is one of the few areas with which I have some difficulty" and more than some trepidation "but I consider myself blessed to be able to call on others," he glanced at Carrie, "where I have failed."
  11. Medical journals & databases are especially expensive & time-intensive, because if a doctor needs access to something while, say, in surgery (which happens fairly frequently, at least at the Vet Med school at my university), he'll need it right now. So the publishers, providers, and libraries all need to make sure that access is maintained and up-to-date. Which is costly.
  12. Not even a handful of real books! Those listed prices are for one year's subscription to the listed journal. It's for print + online, meaning you get one print issues per (month, week, however frequent the journal comes out) + online access to their electronic content (i.e., .pdfs of all the articles). That's the biggest part of the price (though peer-reviewed, scientific & technical journals have always been pricey, because they're how Science! works), and can be the trickiest part to establish, since the library would need to negotiate licensing rights with the publisher and/or the provider. Another reason it's so price is that institutional subscriptions can be used by multiple users. If you can go to your local university library (or any comp on a university, in some cases, simply go to a university library's website) and access the online content to a journal, you're less likely to purchase your own individual subscription, so the pub jacks up the price.
  13. Leaping over the desk for Gorsky, to start a Grapple. If Gorsky's treated as a Minion, I'll just Take 10, for 24.
  14. Daughter? Ah, the old 'Promise to Cure the Sick Child When Really She's Turned Into An Undead Servitor' trick! One of the oldest cons in the books! But who showed Gorsky them things? "Nooot a cuuure," 'Cartwright' said, still pleading with the male half of the Richards'. "Nooot a cuuure... paaaiiin... neverending! Pain is all I feel... paaaiiin and nothing else! To never again walk," he luched to one side, "on a summer's day... with a hot wind in your face..." he flexed his hands, as if feebly grasping for the Richards', "and a warm hand to hold... to feel nooothing..." He froze, and slowly ratcheted his head towards Gorsky, "nooothing... but huuungerrr...." His lips pulled back while his body ratcheted around, so now he was fully facing Gorsky. He crouched slightly, "huuungerrr... for vengeance!" He leaped over the desk at the doctor.
  15. Dead Head shrugged and shook his head, "man, too many reasons to list. Fame. Power. Knowledge. Someone new wantin' t'be his horse? Gang war? War within his own gang? Though," he shook his head again, "the lack'a proper offerin' implies whoever did this don't really know much 'bout 'im; could be some amateur tryin' t'summon somethin' bigger'n 'is head. Or," he glanced back at the blood-splattered living room, "someone with even less knowledge than that. Some slasher workin' a loose theme; maybe tryin' to get attention from any powerful entity." "I still think," he continued, heading out of the kitchen and looking for a bedroom, "there might be somethin' 'bout his job tied t'this." He turned towards the detective, "ah, detective Curtis, sir, y'all got word back on where 'e worked, what 'e was workin' on?"
  16. International Journal of Remote Sensing 1 year institutional subscription: $8,999.00 ( = a week-long luxury vacation for two to Saint Lucia) Science 1 year institutional subscription: $11,728 ( = the price of a Tiffany engagement ring) Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters 1 year institutional subscription: $18,942.98 ( = the price of sending an undergraduate student to NC State University for one year)
  17. Toughness save, DC 30 (1d20+14=25) Fails by 5, so Dazed + Injured
  18. Wild Cards Headed to Big Screen... courtesy of Syfy Films (the theatrical division created in December 2010 as a joint venture between Syfy and Universal Pictures).
  19. Dead Head tossed the milkbone offered by Nick over his right shoulder, towards the alley behind him where Mutt waited. The treat vanished in midair with an audible CRUNCH. I like Nick. He is a good man, like Dead Head. And Equinox is a- RACCOON! ... She is a good woman. Mutt trotted along the air outside the apartment, as spirits do, peering in through the windows as the others entered. "Construction worker?," Dead Head repeated as Curtis showed them around, "maybe he was 'bout t'build somethin' where someone else was squattin', or some project'a his was gonna mess up the-" He'd been talking jovially as he surveyed the scene, but when he saw the tag in the kitchen, his clotted blood ran just a hair colder. Craaap. The revenant nodded stiffly, "cain't say I'm surprised t'see that mark again. Kinda surprised we ain't seen it sooner, truth be told. But..." He looked back at the bloodbath in the loving room, then back at the veve, then to nick and 'Nox, "but it don't seem his style, though, y'know?"
  20. ... you've made a 'Ganger!
  21. Dead Head also gets a 20.
  22. So... Small Bots are scrapped, Large Bots go now?
  23. Since Dead Head has Interpose, and he's right next to Hecatonchire #2, can he interpose on Nox's behalf? If so, Toughness save, DC 30 (1d20+18=20) Fails by 10, so Staggered + Disabled + Dazed
  24. Dead Head had been at Lantern Hill, waiting for Nick to arrive so they could have some non-Save the World interactions during this atypical lull in spectral activity. Chatting up friendly spirits, making small offerings, catching up on the latest happenings in the world of horror and sci-fi media... the usual. But when he saw a police cruiser pull up to the main gate, then the two uniformed officers stop and then redirect Cimitiere, the revenant knew something was up. Nick can handle himself, no problem... an' if he needs help, he'd be sure t'call me & the others. Buuut... he seems t'be gettin' a lot of these lately, and I've been itchin' t'see one first-hand. He whistled, "c'mon, Mutt!. We's goin' out!" He retrieved his new shovel from the ground -- he'd been leaning on it while waiting for Nick -- and returned it to the harness on his back; he shifted a bit, still unaccustomed to the subtle differences in weight & balance from his old shovel, a process he'd gone through many times. The spirit-hound soon appeared and barked agreement, and both headed out. The two kept to the shadows and alleys, and arrived not long after Equinox. Mutt remained concealed, but Dead Head shambled up towards Nick. He let out a simple grunt to the two mystics; though some of FC's finest knew of Dead Head, if the ones here thought he was just an assistant to Cimitiere, they'd be apt to overlook him, and thus to not interrupt him while he employed his unique talents to the case.
  25. "Oh, I would never remove anything, unless she wanted me to," he replied, smirking slightly at Miss Wells. Now, now, just because I am feeling like my old self again does not mean I should revert to my old-old self. He turned an eye to the machines, circling around them with hands clasped behind his back. "I would love to know more about the worlds you have been to. I have only met two other versions of myself; one went well, one went... poorly. But," he shook his head, "that can wait; first things first. I presume Carrie has told you of where we may need to go, but has she spoken of how we may find our destination?"
