  1. 2pp unspent for Protectron, to be used for an exceedingly simple edit: +2 feats, Inventor and Speed of Thought. Cape'd (I hope)
  2. Hunh, I do have you as marked down for 2pp for Wraith in one spot, but 1pp in another. Weird. Fixed now!
  3. Please submit edits for one character per post.
  4. Not a bad month -- 12 PL bumps , and 4 new Player Status Awards ! All characters except those in ref have been updated; the remained will get updated as soon as they get their thread lists to the Ref! As mentioned, there are a few new House Rules, going into effect immediately: Powers Alternate Form: Increasing the Action to use this power is a -1pp per step Drawback, not a -1pp/rank per step Flaw. (Since Alternate Form is not something one normally activates multiple times per combat -- in most cases, you activate it at the start of a fight and do not turn it off until you're done -- requiring a longer time to active it is not as big a hindrance as it would be for Attack effects like Blast, which would be used almost every round.) Concealment: Increasing the Action to use this effect is a -1pp per step Drawback, not a -1pp/rank per step Flaw. (See Alternate Form for the reasoning.) Density: Increasing the Action to use this effect is a -1pp per step Drawback, not a -1pp/rank per step Flaw. (See Alternate Form for the reasoning.) Growth: Increasing the Action to use this effect is a -1pp per step Drawback, not a -1pp/rank per step Flaw. (See Alternate Form for the reasoning.) Insubstantial: Increasing the Action to use this effect is a -1pp per step Drawback, not a -1pp/rank per step Flaw. (See Alternate Form for the reasoning.) (Shrinking gets a pass on this; while it would be internally consistent for us to make increasing its Action be a Drawback rather than a Flaw, the Refs feel Shrinking is overpriced as is for what it does and so could use the cost break.) (Most of these were all rules we'd had in our House Rules at one time, but they were accidentally omitted at some point.) Power Modifiers Autofire: Autofire is to be limited to one rank. Subtle: Subtle for the Communication power works as stated in ULTIMATE POWER. For all other effects, Subtle works as follows: Subtle 1 requires a DC 20 Notice check to be detected by normal senses, but is noticed automatically by appropriate Awareness/Detect super-senses. Effects with Subtle 2 cannot be detected by normal senses, but can be noticed by an appropriate Awareness/Detect super-sense if the observer makes a DC 20 Notice check. Combat Damage: Rather than being stunned by failing a Toughness save, characters will be dazed. Since you're unable to take actions while Dazed, you will still need to make Concentration checks to maintain any Sustained-Duration powers (like Force Field), and are unable to use any Concentration-duration powers while Dazed. The Refs are also working on tweaks on how PL is noted on character sheets (since not all chars are actually at the PL they have earned by virtue of power points), but there are many factors that go into PL, and thus so many things to track, this is still being debated. The Refs are still also discussing slight changes to the Player Reward system; I can tell you that no one will be losing or having to give up anything, so do not fear that. Now, on with the points! 5. I've been roped into some family shenanigans, so my posting Sunday & Monday will be spotty. (But I will try to have PP awards out before I go!)
  6. Good news, everyone! Quote & I figured out what went wrong; the autocountamotron is back in action! alderwitch, Broseidon, Geez3r, Godiva, Nimue, Setzer, Stormstallion, Taar, and trollthumper: post your August threads so we can get them counted!
  7. Protectron's family reunion photo
  8. ... are going to be a few days. The autocounter's acting up, so we're going to have to do it the old-fashioned way: manually counting everyone's posts. And with this weekend being a holiday weekend (here in the States, at least), I don't know how many Refs I'll have on hand to help. While I have your attention, though, I'll let you know that there are a few House Rule changes in the works. Here's two that I know have been agreed upon by the Refs: Autofire: Autofire is to be limited to one rank. Damage: Rather than being stunned by failing a Toughness save, characters will be dazed. Since you're unable to take actions while Dazed, you will still need to make Concentration checks to maintain any Concentration- or Sustained-Duration powers (like Force Field). The Refs are also working on a few tweaks to the Subtle power feat; slight tweaks to Alternate Form, Growth, Insubstantial, and Shrinking; to character sheet formatting (mostly so it will be easier to note what PL a character actually is, since not everyone builds up to the PL they've earned via accumulated power points); and a few tweaks to the Player Rewards system. Stay tuned!
  9. Still need thread lists for alderwitch Broseidon Geez3r Godiva Nimue Quinn Setzer Stormstallion Taar trollthumper
  10. Go ahead and post, Durf, I rarely make IC posts at the beginning of the month until the posts are counted & awards given. (Plus, all Protectron's doing is trying to diplomacize the steambots.)
  11. 12. In order to make sure the Refs accurately count all your IC posts and award you the due amount of power points, please post with a list of all the threads in which your character posted IC this month (including the News forum). Remember that we require that posts be a minimum of about 500 characters. You can see here what a 400, 500, and 600 character post looks like. Posts shorter than 500 characters will not be counted. Please also mark things from the Non-Canonical forum as being non-canonical, as those count 1/2 (2 posts made for your char in a non-canon thread count as 1 post for the char). And if you are GMing something, list those threads, too. GM-only posts -- as well as NPC Villain posts -- also count 1/2, and can be assigned to whichever of your characters needs a 'push' to get up in post numbers. When you make your list, please post a link to the IC threads -- preferably to the top of the page where your first post for that month appears -- so we (and the auto-count program) can jump right to it. When you post the link to your thread, the URL should look like this http://www.freedomplaybypost.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=4478&p=100643#p100643 or this http://www.freedomplaybypost.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=4478&start=10 or this http://www.freedomplaybypost.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=4478 NOT this http://www.freedomplaybypost.com/viewtopic.php?p=100643#p100643 The four digit number in the URL (bolded & underlined in the correct example) is the thread id number which we need to use the autocountamotron. When you start a thread, make sure [iC] is in the title/subject line of the IC thread, and [OOC] is in the title of the OOC thread. If you make a post in an IC thread as a GM or an NPC, add [GM] in the subject line of the thread. If you make a post and [iC] is not in the subject line, the AutoCounter will not count it. And if you do not put [GM] in the places you post as an NPC or Ref, it won't count those properly. Please list your threads in alphabetical order. Please clearly note any threads in which you are both player and GM/running an NPC. Also, when you start a new thread, please mark it on the Timeline (if you have a handle here, you have an account for the Wiki, and anyone with an account can edit it). You do not have to be specific on the date, but I would like to keep track of when things are happening relative to each other. The Timeline also serves as an index for everything we've done in the nearly three years this site's been active, and it's useful to know if X happens before or after Y. If you've done any extracurriculars -- artwork, HellQ, 20 Questions, NPC, Vignette, Wiki work, etc. -- please be sure to list them along with your active threads. Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in your post counts being postponed or skipped completely.
  13. Knowledge (Civics, History) rolls (1d20+5=14, 1d20+5=24) grr, 1 shy on each of hitting the next 5-point plateau. Still, the Know/History's pretty decent.
  14. "I am unable to detect any systems with which I can interface, Friend-Ironclad," the strange robot said after a moment. "I shall attempt to engage them verbally. Suggest you proceed inside, learn what you can, while Caradoc and I draw their attention." "My fellow mechanoids," Protectron announced as he strode towards the stemabots, hands held up, "there is no need for such violence, or to deprive the organics of Freedom their power. I am certain that, working together, we can all reach a mutually beneficial arrangement."
  15. Is there any kind of Skill check we can make to see if our chars have heard of/know about 'Section 13'?
  16. You don't need any of those brackets on your skills. I removed those when I went in and did some other formatting clean up. Are you familiar with the aliens already existing in the FC setting? What's the Protector's relationship with them? More about these aliens in general would be useful, too. His Personality & Motivation section need more fleshing out. Right now, he sounds like a lunkhead who gets enraged at criminals, and rushes in to beat them until they stop moving. (Which is not good!) The name's also an issue: a flying super-strong, super-tough person calling himself 'Paragon' is sort like Tony Stark calling himself 'Battlesuit' or the Flash calling himself 'Speedster.' The stats... need a lot of work. Notably, you've overspent by 6pp. You could save some points by lowering 'base' Attack and adding some ranks in the Attack Focus (Melee) feat. With a Defense of 2 and a Toughness of 10, he's PL 6 in terms of Defense. That's an incredibly bad idea; foes will Power Attack you, and you will go down. Skills: since most skills DCs are multiples of 5, it's best to take enough ranks to get your skill modifiers up to some multiple of 5. I also removed the Skills you'd listed in which he has no ranks; those don't need to be listed. Do be aware that Immunity (Fatigue effect) does not protect you from the Fatigue of Extra Effort. And if his Immuniy to Mental Effects is "he's super-stubborn," why does he not have any Will save? Immunity to Mental Effect won't help him against Interaction skills, which are resisted by Will, Sense Motive, or the same skill. The Fearless feat will help him some against Intimidate, but as he is now, he's about as easy to Bluff as a baby. Also, two things to be aware of on Regeneration: Regen for Ability Damage is nearly useless, since the duration of that is set by the user of the power The "1/round" rate you have for all those conditions means one round of uninterrupted rest. I.e., one round not doing anything in combat.
  17. It does indeed!
  18. Archived to make way for the new hotness.
  19. ... you're just asking for Dok to kick his butt again, aren't you? :approved:
  20. Protectron crouched slightly and swept one leg at the charging figure. While the maneuver was carried out with some technical skill, the strange robot's strength, superhuman though it was, paled in comparison to the charging beast-man; it barely stumbled. Microseconds before the Elephant Man connected with the golden guardian, its head popped off and hovered a few inches above its shoulders on tiny neck-jets!
  21. Protectron Undamaged, 1 HP Standard Action: attempt to Trip the Elephant Man before he overruns the 'bot! Power Attack for -2 Attack/+2 Str modifier Melee attack roll (1d20+5=11) Reaction: HP to re-roll; minimum 10 +5 = 15 = hits Str check to try to Trip (1d20+12=21) Per our House Rules, Super-Str does apply to the Trip check if you're resisting w/ Str. At +20, Elephant-Man can't fail. Move Action: Anatomic Separation to detach head and keep it from being trampled by the charging/overrunning Elephant. End Result: 0 HP, possibly tripped and/or damaged by Elephant Man.
  22. I've stuck in links to both his old char sheets, so they don't get lost in the shuffle. Cleaned up a few formatting issues. You also spelled "pseudonatural" wrong every time You are, unfortunately, 3PP off: you have 13 Feats, not 11, and the "Not When Bound" thing on his Flight/wings is the Power Loss Drawback (worth 1 point), not a Flaw. Which means you just have 1 pp unspent, not 4. Is this acceptable?
  23. Radio. It also has the Area Extra and Selective PF, and with his Quickness (x5 fr purely mental things) it could potentially check multiple steambots in a round. (It also has the Machine Control PF, but that may not be of any use against these steambots.)
