  1. What DC's do I have to save against?
  2. Sorry for the delayvDoc. I thought I had posted already.
  3. "Thank you for your help. I've yet to find any more traces of the creatures. I stink to high heaven and I'm running low on power. I'm going to return to base momentarily to refuel and I'll patrol the city. Something tells me we haven't seen the last of the creatures. If you discover anything, please let me know immediately. Gentlemen, it's been a pleasure." Rocket blasts off into the sky. Not more than a half hour later, he's back combing the city.

Do I need to roll initiative as well for the shenanigans in the sports store? Or are we just going to assume I go last?
  5. Happy Birthday youngin' T3Y24SNfH2Q
  6. Malice was already hot, tired, sore and low on energy. Dealing with whoever this new arrival was, along with the league was certainly not very high on his to-do list. What was high on the to-do list however was regaining the ability the see. Malice rapidly blinked his eyes and shook his head trying to get his vision back, while giving the new voice a rather rude hand gesture. Though you can tell from his body language, he's serious considering booking it as soon as he can see again.
  7. It's a good plan durf, with one exception: Malice is currently blinded. If he did take off, it would most likely be into a wall, and he cannot see the jet stream off in the sky. Malice cannot beat either of those two rolls. So for the time being he's dazed, though in all likely hood will be taking off very soon, one way or another.
  8. Waiting for Nyrath to get back into the swing of things.
  9. Alright, guess it's timed I chimed in, seeing as how I'm an active villain and a ref. First, let me just make this statement: I love gaming here. This is one of, if not the single greatest gaming communities I've been a part of. And without exception, I consider all the regulars here to be friends and I have naught but respect for them. That being said, playing a villain can be frustrating. People are of the mind that the heroes should win, and whenever that's not the case there's some resistance to that. Most of the time, it's something small, and can usually be glossed over. Ace and DS each getting a HP for Malice's powerstunt in Trial being the most recent example in my mind. I had to power stunt an effect to hurt DS at all, and Ace wasn't affected at all. You don't give out HP just because the other guy did good. Events like this sting a bit, but after a while you get down off the cross, use the wood to build yourself bridge and you get over it. The most egregious of examples to happen to me was my very first game here, which was a simple 1 on 1 fight with Emissary. MarkK's reaction to the end of the thread was enough that I didn't visit the board for a week, and nearly quit right then and there. Thankfully, this experience was very much an outlier of my time here. Here's the thing though, so long as villains are active participants on the boards, the chance that they'll win is always there. It's part of the package of being a PC; sometimes things go your way. But, by the same token, people are taken aback if the PC heroes ever loose. The only thread I can think of ever where the heroes lost was Welcome to the Modern World. The only consequences for the heroes who lost was that Spartan had a slightly longer walk home and Arrowhawk needed a shower and he had some arrows stolen (which he pretty much has an unlimited number of, and Malice got no mechanical benefit for it). Being forced to flee the scene due to the police arriving before the seldom heard victory music played is another one of those before mentioned frustrations. I'm going to say this again for emphasis: I love gaming here. This is one of, if not the single greatest gaming communities I've been a part of. And without exception, I consider all the regulars here to be friends and I have naught but respect for them. My point is, that if the villains aren't "allowed" to succeed SAY IT. I'm like quote, I really don't care if Malice ever really wins. Look at Malice's goals for Pete's sake. He's trying to convince the world that the shining paragons of virtue that regularly put their lives on the line to save the hide of other people are the bad guys. He'd be hard-pressed to do that even in an Iron Age game, let alone Silver or Bronze. He's never, ever, ever going to succeed. It's like watching an old episode of Looney Toons with the Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote. You know he's never going to catch the bird, but watching him try over and over again is damn entertaining. But, the secret to it, is that he gets close. How about an example closer to home. Everyone go on Youtube right now, and search for any animated series, Justice League, Spider-Man, Batman, Superman, Static Shock, Batman Beyond and then search up any episode, and watch it. Okay now I'll summarize that episode. First, the villain successfully implemts stage one of his newest scheme (usually stealing a McGuffin), and probably beats the hero in the process. Secondly, there is some other drama going on in the hero's life that highlights whatever character flaw they had in their previous fight that caused them to lose the match. Thirdly, the hero learns more about the villain's nefarious scheme, and goes to confront them. Fourthly, the hero defeats the villain in their climatic showdown, and stops their scheme "before it's too late". Finally, the villain gets carted off to jail (or the equivalent) and the hero learns some valuable about manners, or friendship or something, and the status quo is restored. All I'm asking for while playing a villain is that I walk into a thread knowing 2 things; 1) I will lose and my schemes will be foiled and 2) I almost had him. Give me those two things and I'll be good. My preferred play style is that of the Butt-Kicker or Slayer. When I play a character, I like to play up their abilities, and I get a rush when they do really good. That's why Atlas is so strong, and why Malice has such a large weapons array. So, as long as I get to something cool at least once per thread I'm good. Look at Massive Explosion. I was sitting on an absolute mound of Villain Points, in a situation where going out guns blazing, taking as many of them with me as possible, is not only a viable strategy, it was also what everyone expected of me, but I turned it down and went quietly. Why? because I was already coming off a victory. I entered the Arrow Strikes home as the previous winner, and Arrowhawk the looser. What would've happened if Arrowhawk hadn't blown everything sky high? Best case scenario ends with several sections of my base being blown up, worst case is that the fight goes upstairs and he figures out who I am. Malice would have most likely lost everything in that thread anyway, and I'm okay with that because it was his time to lose. If I walk into a thread knowing that I'm going to get my butt kicked, I don't feel cheated, no matter what the rulings are. But if I walk into a thread thinking I could potentially win, and there's a shady call or two... Alright, I think I'm rambling at this point, and if this gets much longer I won't be able to submit it as a single post. I hope I conveyed my position properly.
  10. Okay, here's the next section. First get a VP for completeing the first objective. Get another one for me being an evil GM. Helicopter Initiative (1d20+16=25) Tank Initiative (1d20-2=15) Battalion Initiative (1d20+6=12) War Mech Initiative (1d20+2=8) Also, as you might have surmised, I'm not actually going to run the 100+ soldier in the battalion. I'm using an incredibly simplified version of the mass combat rules. Each battalion is about 50 dudes, if you attack one of the groups, you effectively attack all of them, even if it's only single target. Also note: Multi-target and area of effect powers work wonders on the battalions. Part 2 Initiative (1d20+0=18)
  11. GM Only Post The sight before you is quite possibly the most awe-inspiring display you have ever seen in your entire life. A massive canyon is carved into the landscape, and the facility is built right into it. To say that the architecture is advanced would be an understatement. Any movies or televison shows you've seen about the city of the future all pale in comparison to this. Everything looks sleek and perfectly designed as if this canyon had been carved for the soul purpose of containing this complex, and a little voice inside of your head tells you it might just have been. Some of the central buildings may very well be a mile in hieght. Massive monorail tracks cover the entire area, moving massive amounts of materials from one section of the complex to the other. Unfortunately for you, you don't have the luxury of taking in the sights, as most everyone down there is doing their level best to give you a bad case of the very dead; a task which they very well succeed in. The former river basin looks like it's about to be the scene of a major battle. Two battalions of troops have just been deployed by the Comm Tower, and you guess there are even more on the way from the sounds of those alarms going off. The Comm Tower stands probably a good 350 ft tall and is located about 1000 ft away from Knievel and Ronin's current position. It's probably 40ft in radius. In addition, some of their heavier machinery has already been mobilized. There are 5 tanks and 3 helicopters heading towards your position. The tanks are about 1700 ft out from Knievel and Ronin's position, in a line formation. The are choppers are each going up the center, left flank and right flank respectively. They're about 1200 ft out, putting them near Bel and Vestige. Over at Malice's end, there appear to be 2 dozen helicopters prepping for take off, he's probably got less than a minute to take them out before they get airborne. Also, 2 War-Mechs have been deployed to the area and are moving to engage him. From over the radios you can tell the base itself is readying its defenses, so Surface to Air missles and the like will probably be coming soon.

Samael grabbed at the the treadmill but it was shaking too violently for him to get a hold of. He did everything in his power to get his hands on it, but to no avail.

Dexterity Check DC 15 (1d20+0=2) hrmmm. Don't want some random townie getting squished, so I'll have to Hero Point that. Dexterity Check DC 15 - Hero Point Reroll (1d20+0=2) Guess I miss the treadmill. Notice Check - DC 29 (1d20+8=27) So close and yet so far
  14. The guards crumpled to the ground, and with that their entire number had been defeated in just a few seconds. Malice arrived as close as he could to the next target as he could while the shield was still up. "Vestige, please tell me the generator is about to go ka-put."

No it's actually different for Drawbacks. His drawback is very common (DC 5) meaning that it happens practically everyday. Effectively at the start of an adventure, he rolls 1d20. If it exceeds a 5, then he has beaten the DC and is therefore fatigued. If it was a common drawback it would be DC 10, and uncommon would be DC 15 (page 125 of Core book). Also: FATIGUED Fatigued characters cannot move all out or charge and suffer a –2 penalty to effective Strength and Dexterity and a –1 penalty on attack and defense. A fatigued character who does something else or suffers an effect that would normally cause fatigue becomes exhausted.
  16. Okay I finally got all the kinks worked out on the computer so I finally have internet access from my room. The downside however is that this computer is very, very slow. Also, due to the current layout of my scedule, I won't be on too often on Tuesday and Thursdays as those day are when the majority of my classes are.
  17. (19:57:40) Electra: Hey all (19:58:38) Electra: If I'm forced to utterly destroy AA, is that going to slow down the issuance of XP? (19:58:55) Geez3r: not really no (19:59:03) AvengerAssembled: DAMN YOU GEE- (19:59:05) FreedomBot: AvengerAssembled logs out of the Chat. (19:59:08) Electra: Kay, good.
  18. Good enough for me. Approved.

Samael didn't even have to told once, he took off running just a moment after Leon himself did, who was more fleet of foot than Samael. "I am with you." growls a husky voice as Samael charges to the treadmill. He tries to scoop the runner up by the midsection from the side of the treadmill. He would have gone in from behind, but that would have just wound up with him getting kicked in a very sensitive place.
  20. Everything looks good up until the powers What makes your Protection noticeable? I think I missed that detail somewhere. I'm curious as to why Mind Control and Speed share an array slot. Also, if you could Bold and Underline the headings of each section (Abilities, Saves, Combat, etc.) that'd be great.
  21. Grappling in a nutshell: Step 1: Roll an unarmed attack roll vs the target's defense. Success means you can now start a grapple and proceed to step 2; failure means you cannot start a grapple and you're done. Step 2: Roll Opposed grapple checks against your target. Success means you can now grapple or pin your target; failure means that the target is not grappled.
  22. I don't have time for a proper IC post tonight. But that's a miss Heritage. You used the wrong number though. You have a +23 on grapple checks, but that's holding someone down and maintaining the grapple, you roll a normal melee attack, a +10 bonus for you, in order initiate the grapple. If you hit, then you roll opposed grapples.

Samael paused for a moment after seeing the strange man. He pondered for a moment before his curiosity got the better of him, and he went into the store after the man. He hung back because he didn't want to look like he was intentionally stalking the guy, even though he was. He pretend browsing had brought him back over where the weights were. He hadn't been to the gym properly since just after the transformation happened for the first time. He knew he had gotten stronger, but how strong he really had no clue. He reached out and hefted the same weight the bare-chested man did, with just as much ease. With a little smirk, Samael put the weight down and followed the man deeper into the store.
