Where as Malice gets to hang around for a moment trying to get all of the innocent people in the neighborhood get out from the rubble that used to be their homes. So the hero gets away while the villain stays to help. Seems a little backward no? Guess the Joker was right, all you need is one bad day.

Remember, Malice could do this damage hypothetically AND Malice actually has done this exact damage before. True only to one target, and it was a power stunt, but it has been done. And that's with a "standard" attack, you blew up EVERYTHING all at once.
-
Yeah, I had a feeling this was something the refs would want to once over And on a tangent, I think this may be largest amount of collateral damage done in a thread on these boards, and we haven't even rolled initiative yet :o

Huh. Yeah, this is gonna be quite painful. For nice round figures we'll say that each floor is 10ft high, except for the floor immediately above the ammo dump, the combat simulator is 30 ft high. Hopefully because the armoring on the walls is strongest at the simulator the explosion won't do too much damage *cough*... Yeah so Arrowhawk is about 10ft from the center of the explosion, maybe 20 depending on where the charge was placed, thickness of the walls, position in the elevator, yadda yadda. Malice on the other hand is somewhere between 40-50ft away from the explosion, maaaaybe 60 because the armor was in a corner and he hadn't moved from that spot yet. So, if my math is right, Arrowhawk is facing a DC 33-34 Reflex save, followed by a DC 38-39 Toughness save, and Malice has 28-30 Reflex save, which ain't happening, and 33-35 Toughness save. But yeah, essentially a nuke just went off smack dab in the center of a quiet Riverside suburb.

OK, so Arrowhawk and Malice have been duking it out for a day now, and already there's a big problem. Arrowhawk "sneaks" into Malice's bunker from the sewers, and immediately walks into Malice's main magazine AKA where he keeps most of his ammunition. The problem is, is that neither of us have the slightest clue on how much damage this would cause. The magazine is in the bottom most floor of Malice's bunker. The walls of the bunker thankfully have a Toughness save of +15. Floors of bunker: 0 - Home - Malice's basement, a standard home lies above 1 - Research - unoccupied, nothing too explodey 2 - Development - where all the WIP are stored/worked on, quite explodey - Malice is on this floor (thankfully in his suit) 3 - Application - This is where the combat simulator is, which of course houses things designed to explode and be exploded on, Arrowhawk is in the elevator on this floor, possibly soon to be shot airborne in a metal box 4 - Supply and Demand - The Main ammo supply, the blast door leading into the sewers (which contains explodey methane) has already been destroyed Anyone have input on what kind of destruction this would cause? Remember that Malice is a paranoid wack job that believes the answer to every question is "NEEDS MOAR DAKKA" and that Arrowhawk probably just blew up 85%-90% of his DAKKA. OOC thread IC Thread

I just noticed that Malice is lacking in a few key areas, he has no ranks in Intimidate & Gather Info, which he should really really have. So I'll spend my 2 points to get 4 ranks in Intimidate and Gather Info respectively. I'll buy more at the end of the month. Done by Sandman XI

Fine. Spoil sport Nope, elevator is standard fair. Door's basically the only security in the place. You've got free run of the place until Malice says otherwise.
-
Okay, here's how Malice's action went down: 1: Reaction- hear boom, Full Round: Run to elevator 2: Full Round: Take elevator 1 floor down 3: Full Round: Get to Armor 4: Full Round: Get in Armor 5: Full Round: Calm down 6: Full Round: In case I missed anything. Okay, now seems like as good a place as any to get the HP/ VP situation sorted out. To be fair, only the other person can award the other HP/VP. But I can suggest a reason I get VP, and you can suggest a reason you get HP, but it has to be approved by the other person. I don't think this'll be an issue at all. IMO, Arrowhawk should get 3 HP: 1 - Smelling like mucky muck 2 - General shenanigans at the door 3 - Hatred of all the firearms and tech that is quite abundant around here Suggestions for Malice VP: 1 - Quit blowin' 'oles in my ship! 2 - Being caught in his civies Feel free to add any Sound good to you?

Elsewhere in the Bunker: Eric Micheals was sitting down at his computer chair, staring at the giant map of Freedom, with his fingers crossed. He did this often. To him it was just a giant puzzle, and he was simply trying to make sense of it all. And then the explosions came. Now explosions are rarely ever a good thing, but when you're a paranoid weapons developer that moonlights as one of the city's more notorious villains, they downright suck. Upon hearing the explosions Eric threw himself across the room, jamming him thumb onto the elevtor button, unbridled panic surging throughout his body. " Comeon-Comeon-Comeon-Comeon-Comeon-Comeon-Comeon-Comeon-Comeon-Comeon-Comeon." On the ride down, Eric had to restrain himself to the utmost degree to avoid punching out the stereo system. He made a solum vow to burn it in effigy if he got out of this alive. Once the doors opened, he practically broke out into a full sprint as he hurled himself heedlessly towards the armor. "Priority 1 Activation" Eric shouted and the armor wrapped itself around him. Malice drew several calming breaths as the cold steel comforted him. "Note to self, do more wind sprints." *pant* *pant* "Okay. Now. I need to kill something."

The first arrow made a nice dent. The second arrow not so much. The third was similarly fruitless. The 4th also did poorly. Number 5, and the door was still alive, but it got a little more damaged. And finally, arrow #6 did the trick, punching a small, but servicable hole in the door. After peering through the hole, Arrowhawk sees what he was been shooting at this entire time, a massive stockpile of ammunition. Apparently, Arrowhawk had avoided blowing all of them sky high by little more than a hair's breadth. Bullets, missles, rockets and weird electro gadgets, all in the possession of a mad man, everything Arrowhawk hates about the world. Disturbingly, all of the ammunition is labled by whom is it to be used on, with the exception of the entire right wall which is labled "To whom it may concern". If there was any doubt that Arrowhawk was in the wrong place, it has been rubbed out. In the back left corner, there is what appears to be an elevtor.

They're info is surprisingly good. Malice always comes out of the sewers, but he uses about 5 or 6 points commonly, and a bunch of others every now and then. But from some quick math, you realize that these exit points are all roughly the same distance from a central hub. You've limited it down to a 1 or 2 block radius, and you notice one particular detail, in that general area, there is a red, white and blue house. The address is 23 Sunberry Lane, there's no name on the mail box. The question is, does the person inside know anything?

The probably quite necessary OOC thread for Arrowhawk's plan to raid Malice's base to get his arrows back. Collateral damge will surely follow.

The great problem with superheroes as your main opposition is that they can be anyone. As odd as it may sound, even a lightly obscured face can be quite difficult to connect with a name. So often times, you can just be walking blind into an ambush or be surrounded simultaneously by your greatest friends and greatest enemies. Living this sort of life can put a bit of a strain on one's mind, which can lead to certain... irregularities. Now it gets really interesting when 2 irregular minds have a reason to form a grudge. Especially when super science is involved. Scientists on the cutting edge tend to be extraordinarily protective of their work. This is for several reasons. More morally inclined scientists do it so that "this technology does not fall into the wrong hands". Others are afraid of others stealing their work at the last second and getting all the credit. And finally, and probably most importantly, there is the fear that someone else can take your technology much further than you imagined and suddenly your breakthrough seems completely insignificant. So stealing someone's super science gadget is what we in the know refer to as "a big no-no", but villains aren't exactly known for their high moral standards. So now on this quiet Sunday morning, two irregular minds are about to clash in a quiet neighborhood. In their last encounter, Malice made off with some of Arrowhawk's prized arrows with the intention of reverse engineering them. Arrowhawk wants them back.

*sigh* It's been a while. I haven't been out and about for quite some time. Things just got too hectic. With a bit of assistance from Ares Marcotech, Darts has been landing more and more contracts. I'm starting to roll in money, but I've had to work longer and longer hours. So much so that I can't go out as regularly as I would like. The repairs for the suit just take way too long. I've been thinking on a way to change that, but for the reasons mentioned above, progress has been quite slow. Futhermore, getting enough materials to make improvements to the bunker is quite difficult, especially when the accountants are going through the books because of the merger. I just keep thinking that this is all too hopeless. They started this war, but it feels like that I'm the only one who bears the burden of the war. I have no true support and the vast majority of people don't even know that the war is going on. Maybe I'm going about this the wrong way. I try to be tactical and do surgical strikes, targeting only specific individuals. But maybe I need to stir things up, cause some collateral damage, set up a few death traps, take a few hostages, typical "villain" things? People will take more notice of me, but I'm not sure if it would be the right kind of attention. I might have to start scaring the populace into doing the right thing. If the populace truely thinks that I'm the villain, I might just to start playing the part.

Me and quote have gotten into watching Deadliest Warrior and the UFC recently. We've also been driving trucks and eating steaks that are also shaped liked trucks, among other manly activities.

Oh sure, use logic and details to support your point. Way to be professional. But I like the idea of using someone else's character sheet, just to shake things up. But yeah, I do see your point about the Power Level thing (now that I have reread the post  ) which could be a serious issue for the reasons I hinted at above. From a pure mechanics aspect, I would want to see what someone else would do with Malice's suit, and perhaps steal an idea or two
-
Um, Doc, there is you know, the Mind Switch Power. Slap the Attack and/or Range Extra on there and you're golden. And if you're looking for a villain to pop into, Malice would be up for such a challenge. Especially if he gets put into the body of a physically powerful person, which can play off of his own mental abilities, and all he has to do is kick the crap out of whoever got his body to get his suit back and he'll have enough power to RULE THE WORLD!!! Or at least beat the snot out of a lot of meta's, though might gum up the works quite a bit if he get's put into the body of a meta. Red Star could do as well.

I am indeed still around. Though as was mentioned in the Player Away thread, I might need a day or two get fully settled with the new computer. I still need to install a lot of programs on it.
-
Got myself a new computer. Just need to work the kinks back into it so I'm comfortable, and then I need to play Left 4 Dead and the Orange Box for way too long. But I'll be back at full steam shortly.

My comp breaks down and you all forget about me huh? Malice isn't fantastically wealthy so can you please drop his Wealth 3 down to Wealth 2? He's not uber rich, but because of his Status benefit, he can still get his hands on some good stuff. Updated by Doc.
-
I should be getting back into the swing of things now.
-
How about +1, +3, and +5? I feel +1 per level is too little, +2 is too much, and a flat bonus has it's own problems.
-
Seeing as how I'm invested in the Wealth rules myself, might as well toss in my two cents. For me Wealth is a background thing. At the start of the adventure or whatever, and the GM asks you why you're there, you can answer "I'm filthy stinking rich." Which could either be good or bad depending on the scenario. But that's neither here nor there. Wealth represents what your character has potential access to, where as Equipment represents what they have on hand right now. Malice has quite a bit of Wealth and is a weapons deveolper, so it's not beyond reason that he's got access to some high tech mumbo jumbo. As it is now, that's simply represented by him having the necesary parts to make a battle suit. Now if I would like to pull out a hither to unmentioned bazooka out of no where, that would be bad. For the most part, Wealth is a descriptor, and I myself don't see using my Wealth to leverage anything, with one exception. In the Mastermind's Manual, there is a quick little section about rolls to decide the outcome of a trial. One of the things that gives a bonus to this roll is ranks in Wealth. You can bet money that if Malice is ever caught he'll bribe the pants off the jury. All of that being said, I like Shaen's first idea, but slightly modified. There are 3 tiers of Wealth: Wealthy, Loaded, and Just Silly. Wealthy: This level of Wealth represents someone who is well off, but still has to pay attention to their finances. Nice house, nice car, don't have to worry about major expenses most of the time, but can't splurge on a yatch. This is the level of minor celebrities, or higher end professionals. Loaded: You could spend the average person's annual salary weekly and not run out of money. You take extravagent vacations at the drop of a hat, you always get the VIP treatment where ever you go, and you have the top of the line of whatever you want. This is the level of A list celebrities. Just Silly: You routinely buy things that have no price tag. You can live extravagantly on your interest alone. Your personal Wealth is larger than that of some countries. This is Bill Gates or Bruce Wayne.

Why can it never be simple? Seriously. I've got a complete idiot with no understanding of how society works, they're a complete outsider to our ways. They have no grace or tact, and there's absolutely no reasoning with them. And on top of that I've got the alien. Great. Choosing to let the issue between Knievel and Je'La die out rather than blunder about in inter species social graces. But now the issue was where the heck to store Je'La. Seriously, feeding an alien chick and giving her a home was not originally on today's agenda. "Honestly getting food and lodging is a bit tricky. You heard the screams on the winds correct? They make things a bit more complicated for us. But give us a sec to think of a good place, we'll set you up. Any ideas Captain?"
