Not that I don't like talking about the international car rental rates as much as the next guy, but I would just rather say Happy Birthday Ecalsneerg.

Dang, this got big quick, not that I'm complaining mind you. Okay, so just to double check the roster so far: Red Star PL 6-7 Blaster Paragon in training Arrowhawk PL 10 Archer type, obviously Shade PL 10 Darkness Controller Spartan PL 10 Eternal Martial Artist Nightrival PL 12 Martial Artist/ Experienced Team Organizer and Mentor I like this mix, personally, now the question of the day is if we can get a GM.
-
A three man team? Or are there more interested? I'm good either way; do either of you object to the idea of a three man team? Like say for example, Arrow has contacted Red Star, and they possibly do a few small times things and then they contact or are contacted by Shade to do a big league event of sorts.
-
So Red Star's been out and about for a while now, and has gotten the lay of the land down, but he's also started to get a bit of attention. Earlier in the week, Red Star busted up a small time drug smuggling ring, but in the process caused a bit of collateral damage, not to mention really roughing up some of the drug dealers. Now, one of the city's well known heroes, [insert your name here] has taken it upon themselves to show Red Star the ropes so he won't make the same mistakes again. Or conversely, another starting super has approached Red Star for a potential team up to bust up a crime too big for either to tackle alone. Or maybe, both of the above. Anyone interested?

You'll be missed. Never gamed with you, but I did enjoy reading all the threads you were a part of.

It becomes quite obvious to everyone present that Eric is absolutely geeking out that Dr. Archeville knows who he is. When Dr. Archeville mentions that he would like to discuss matters privately you can tell that he is desperately trying to maintain a semblance of maturity while on the inside, he feels like a 5 year old child that they could spend the entire day in a candy store with the Power Rangers. Eric isn't quite bouncing up and down in the chair, though he can't quite seem to get that grin off of his face. "What times are good for me? For the great Dr. Archeville, I would practically miss my own wedding. Tomorrow maybe? As you said, I own the company, I can take off whenever I want; especially if its to meet with a person of your exceptional skills doctor. But whenever is good for you is great for me."

1) Malice 2) Malice recently designed as combat simulator and a power surge has brought some of the droids to life , and are now running amock through FC. Malice is now trying to round the droids up so they can't be traced back to him, and other heroes and villains are fulfilling their own agendas with the robots. 3) 3. Dr. Archeville, Neurologic, and Quark have expressed interest in the game. 4) Zilch. See here for more details

Eric nearly spits his drink all over John and Carrie when he hears the German accent right above his shoulder. Spinning around, wide eyed with shock, Eric takes in the sight of the man he was just about to fight his way over to see. Eric gets to his feet almost frantically "Oh my God. Dr. Archeville. It's really an honor to meet you sir. Umm wow, wow wow.." With a calming breath, he manages to regain some composure, and he extends his hand. "Wait where are my manners? I'm Eric Micheals, and yes the food is absolutely amazing, best I've had in years; but couldn't hold a candle to your speech doctor. It was life changing."

I never really got into heroes, don't get me wrong, I've heard nothing but great things, but I just always seemed to miss the episodes.
-
OK. So far we've got myself (PL 11), Quark (PL 6), Dr. A (PL 11), and Neurologic (PL 10). Two heroes, 2 villains. I'm thinking if we do this, Quark will just so happen to stumble upon some of the weaker droids. I'll give anyone else a few days to toss their hats in the ring before sending in a request for a ref.

Any of the old crowd still want in on this adventure?

A new X-Men series is pretty good news, but I've got a gripe on the name "Wolverine and the X-Men" I don't really like them making Wolverine a seperate entity; he's either part of the team or he's not. There is also the problem that I am incredibly cheap and won't likely shell out the money for the DVD's and being American, it looks like I might have a bit of a wait before it comes out either way.

Happy Birthday.

Eric left with the crowd heading off to the reception, his neck craning to see where the good Doctor had wandered off to. When he neared the reception area however, something else caught his attention; the smell of great food was wafting through the corridors. Stepping through the door way, Eric let out a bark like laugh at the spread and several of the audience's expressions upon seeing the practical feast in front of them. "Truly a work of genius." Eric says to nobody in particular as he grabs a plate. He heads up the right table adding a sample of nearly every cheese, a smattering of vegetables, and a small bit of chicken. He then heads along the left grabbing a variety of sausages and bread. Once again craning his neck, Eric finds both a relatively empty table and that Dr. Archeville is practically being mobbed by people walking up to his and giving him thanks or simply exchanging words with him. Deciding to give Dr. Archeville a bit of breathing room for the moment, Eric heads for the table. "Anyone sitting here?" he asked to the couple sitting at the table. "No, it's free. I'm John and this is Carrie." "Nice to meet you. John. Carrie." replies Eric shaking their hands. Between mouth fulls of some really delicious food, the three of them start swapping a few stories and talking about Archeville's speech.

I've got 2 questions for Immunity to Will saves 1) Person A has Immunity to Will saves and is attacked by Person B who has Mental Blast with the No Saving throw extra. Who trumps who? I believe Person A suffers no ill effects of the attack. 2) Person B tries to Intimidate Person A. Can Person A oppose Person B with his Will save and there by be immune? A question on Mental Blast 1) Person A has Mind Blast, and uses it on Person B who having a +4 bonus to Will saves, fails by 3 and takes a bruise. On the next round Person A Mind Blasts Person B again, but Person B still uses his whole +4 bonus again because that bruise does not affect his Will save. Is this correct?

Who wants to hear a Mad Scientist lecture at college?
Geez3r replied to Dr Archeville's topic in Archives
*raises hand* Guilty. Malice is much more solidly in the "I can make things go boom" category than the super scientist one. I agree, but there's a "thrid option", which is still related to above. Normal people aren't that smart. On a character sheet, if you've got Blast 10 and Intelligence 30, you know what one means, but the other is a little more abstract. Blast 10 = a shot from a tank, but many people can't wrap their head around what a 30 Int really means, I certainly can't. So they wind up under playing or over playing how smart their character is. From all the D&D stat quizzes there are milling about the internets, my own INT is in the neighborhood of 16, if those tests are to be trusted; so I'm a smart guy, but a genius I am not. So according to the D&D scale, the difference in intelligence between the dog at my feet (which is coincidentally a "smart" dog) and myself is the same as the difference between myself and this fictional person with a 30 INT. I'm sorry, but that just made my head asplode. I personally do not have the smarts to play a character like that, nor do I have enough ranks in technobabble to fake it. If you can't wrap your head around one of your character's major assets, that can be a major stopping block and people would much rather play something they understand. Like one of my friends in an RL game wanted to play a shapeshifter, but changed their mind when they realized how involved the process was. Now, don't get me wrong, there are plenty of people who CAN actually play those sorts of characters, and the result is something to be admired. I don't know, I just guess that people like the idea of "leaving it to the professionals". -

Well, out of all of the approved characters, 6 have an INT of 20 or higher: Malice, The Exile, Neurologic, Emissary, The Physicist and Dr. Archeville. 3 villians, 3 heroes. But there are 19 heroes, and 9 villains, so maybe all the smart ones are indeed evil? Also its hard for villains to kindly ask to compare notes or something with a hero, the whole mortal enemies thing. As a general rule, villains don't tend to be social creatures, because villains tend to fight one another. So anytime they are able to go out and about without putting themselves in danger, they usually jump on it. And last but not least, science may indeed be above the concept of good and evil. You might hate Lex Luthor's guts, but if he tells you your plan won't work, you might just have to listen to him. -
Ever wish you had the Green Latern's powers so you could make a hand large enough to smack some sense into somebody's thick skull?

I remember you could buy something with a dollar and get change.

At the close of Dr. Archeville's speech, Eric is one of the first to stand and give the good Doctor his well deserved standing ovation. True, this wasn't anything like what Eric had predicted it would be, but this was quite a nice substitute. Archeville had reminded Eric of one of his old professors, Doctor William Hambridge, who taught Business Ethics, a required course. Dr. Hambridge's class was always unexpected and eventful. Eric recalled one particular class where Hambridge had placed a small standing mirror on each and every desk before class began. He said "During this class you may have to answer to me, during your time here you'll have to answer to the deans, in the time after you'll have to answer to your bosses, and after that you'll have to answer to your significant other and maybe even to your children or grandchildren. But after all of that, from now until the day you die and even after that, the one person you really have to answer to is sitting right in front of you. Don't disappoint them, and you'll do no wrong in this world." Eric had connected with Mutt more than he had with Kohout. True, he had a work ethic similar to Kohout's, as the scars on his hands would attest to, but Eric felt that underneath it all he still had Mutt's heart; Eric works this hard because he has something to protect. But more than that, Eric felt human. He may have a goal, and he may work in extremes to get it, but underneath it all, he still had a human heart, there were still lines he wouldn't cross. Mutt and Kohout even didn't have that. Mutt only had the goal to save Rachael, and did everything to accomplish that in the most efficient and direct manner there was, just like a machine would. Kohout, was just heartless. A man who has nothing but his work is not a man at all. Archeville had done something immeasurably valuable for Eric this night. Eric had been questioning himself, he was asking himself if he really was in the right, had he gone to far? But Archeville had reminded him of who he really was and who he really need to take a long hard look at. Eric Micheals was a man of science, and maybe even a super-villain on the outside, but on the inside he really was just a human like everyone else, and of that, Eric could be proud.

Still an idea, but it just got put on the back burner for a while there. Though we can preform a threadomancy should enough participants become interested.

The following in an except from http://www.redstarrawks.com: Mood: Totally SUPER! :super: Song: Andrew W.K. - Party Hard Hey, thanks for tuning in everybody. In case you found this by accident, let me clue ya in here. I'm Red Star, and one day I'm doing to be the greatest hero on the face of this earth. But in the mean time, I've got to pay my dues and learn from the real heroes, the Freedom League. So you're probably asking yourself why would a guy like me even have a blog, let alone a public one, right here at http://www.redstarrawks.com (gotta get the name out somehow ). The answer is obvious; having super powers makes for amazing stories to tell! People write dozens and dozens of pages in true Wall o' Text format describing their trip to the super market or what they did on vaction. I'm sorry but if you're going to go into that much detail, at least spice up the story a little. But me, I can't write, like at all, well except for this, but you get the idea. Anyways, I can't write, but I've got cool stories to tell. It'll be all like: "Hey Red Star! What'd you do today?" and I'd be all like "I threw a truck at a giant gorilla. That was on fire. Not the truck, the gorilla. But the truck did become similarly inflamed." and it'll be great. So basically that's that. Log in if ya want to see my totally out of this world (maybe even literally! *crosses fingeres*) adventures. Oh and yeah, I'm gonna kinda have ta keep a few things on the DL, because I think a few people might want to have a few "words" with me if I go around saying stuff like: Raven and Thunder sittin in a tree... And before ya go, tell all your friends about this blog and if you're feeling generous, there's a donation jar in the bottom right; super-bill paying is sadly not part of my daily breakfast, to mix metaphors. Wait, wait, wait, almost forgot. I took a camera when I went out flying last night, which is like a million times more awesomer than it sounds like OMG. Anyways, I got tons of cool pics of FC from a couple hundred feet. A few are blurry cuz I was going to fast XD clicky the linky for pics Alright, I'm out for now, I'll be flying over West Side soon, if you're a fan, lemme hear ya! Byes!

As this is only level one the drones have yet to be imparted any real tactical know-how, but they have grasped the concept of 'more bullets = good' and as such the drones attack en masse. However, the 'more bullets = good' strategy works only if one is able to hit their target, a task which the drones have failed at, and the few bullets that hit their mark plink of Eric’s armor. Having used only guns so far, and having established that his opponents are of little actual threat to him, Eric decides to wade into melee. But remembering the maxim that anything worth doing, is worth doing with style; Eric jets up towards the ceiling, and then goes into a sharp dive, rocketing towards one of the droids. At the last second, Eric does a forward flip, intending to plant his boots solidly in the droid’s frame. The droid responds to this awesome display of power by executing the daring maneuver of taking 1 step slightly to the left and emerges unscathed, while Eric puts a nice dent in his floor. In the momentary silence that follows, Eric looks back and forth between his own feet and the droid standing next to him. In utter disbelief, Eric turns to the droid “…Really?†to which the droid merely shrugs. Eric looks at his opposite shoulder and is about to release a dejected sigh when a sudden thought occurs to him. “Wait, I programmed you to shrug? Shrug!? Great, my death bots know how to shrug. *Sigh* ...I really need to get myself a girl friend.†End Round 3 standing: Initiative- Drones 6, Eric 4 Drone 1: “Unconsciousâ€Â; Drone 2: Bruised, Staggered; Drone 3: Bruised, Unconscious; Drone 4: Bruised; Drone 5: Bruised; Eric: 0 HP, uninjured, but a little depressed
-
Out of the smoke and wreckage one of the droids lifts its gun and opens fire on Eric. The bullets plink harmlessly off of the Mantel of Freedom, which lets Eric confirm his suspicions; the suit can repel bullets, but not a wall of lead. A mechanical clicking and whirring sound comes from Eric’s right arm as the mounted gun comes to life. Pointing it at the droid he says “Mines bigger.†Before unloading on the droid. Round after round perferated the droid’s body reducing it to slag. “Wait, did I just say ‘mine’s bigger’? ...I made both of those guns. And I said it while destroying some of my own personal property… I really do need to talk to a shrink, or at least stop talking to myself.†The sound of gunfire snaps Eric back to his senses as he takes evasive action. “Or at least when I’m not being shot at! I swear I’m the dumbest smart guy I know. …and I’m still talking to myself, great.†End Round 2 standing: Initiative- Drones 6, Eric 4 Drone 1: “Unconsciousâ€Â; Drone 2: Bruised, Staggered; Drone 3: Bruised, Unconscious; Drone 4: Bruised; Drone 5: Bruised; Eric: 0 HP, uninjured

Sitting roughly in the middle of the room, a bit off Archeville's left, Eric is emmensely enjoying tonight's festivities. Though he wouldn't openly admit to it, the levitating chair trick gave him quite a start. He chuckled at the good Doctor's jokes and both admired and respected how quickly Doctor Archeville adjusted to the "difficulties" on stage. The problem with that however is that Eric knew that the little trick on stage had to be something more than some frat prank; call it a healthy case of paranoia or assuming that the local frat boys were either too smart or not smart enough to pull something like that off. Which only left the conclusion that there was some Meta out there playing a little joke, which angered Eric on a few counts. 1) The meta, or metas, didn't even have the guts to show themselves. 2) They did this at a scientific function. 3) They interrupted one of the smartest men on the planet before he even got to speak. 4) Eric couldn't blast the beegeezes out of them without drawing just a teensy bit of attention to himself, not to mention missing part of Archeville's speech. For now, all Eric could do is hope that the prankster would loose their nerve so the rest of them could enjoy their night in peace.
