I'm just waiting on them to make a F2P power armor set. I doubt that'll happen though. The recent "new" archetypes (savage, specialist, void) are only available through micro transactions for the F2P crowd. I understand why they're doing it of course. Without the F2P kicking in something from the micro transactions we're just a cost to them. Though we do fill out their (previously dead) servers. I think I missed a quest chain at some point with Atlas. I'm level 36 atm, and all the quests I'm coming across are level 37+. Either that or there really isn't that much "end game" content.

Magnets! How Do They Work? Science, You Clown! [IC]
Geez3r replied to Dr Archeville's topic in West End
"Well, my main power is actually a form of energy conversion." began Eli, figuring "basic" for Dr. Archeville would have enough technical jargon to make the rest of the Interceptors flee from the room in horror. "Basically, I can manipulate and "absorb" friction. Don't ask me how it works," he adds quickly, throwing his hands up in a half shrug. "Because I have no idea what so ever. You know how when you stick your hand out the car window and the air has genuine substance? That's how it is for me all the time, no matter what speed I'm at. Only, I can kind of slice through it, or move it out of my way when I put my mind to it. Again, don't know how, it just happens. Some of the friction I move out of the way goes to my feet so I get better traction, and it keeps me glued to the ground or wall or what have you. The rest of it just gets converted into more "go fast". This is why, compared to other speedsters, I actually have a relatively slow acceleration. I have to build up a store of this friction energy. But as the air gets denser, I get exponentially faster. And as for the lighting, I think that's just how my body stores its energy now. I'd be far too massive if my energy was stored as matter in the cells. It also allows for immediate use, as far as I can tell. So while it sounds like I'm firing my life force off at people, it's really no where near that hazardous to my health. Relative to the amount of energy stored in my body, I can't fire off that much at once. And the energy I do fire off can quickly be replaced by running around." Eli paused to get himself a drink of water. "Anything you'd like to ask me at this point or should I keep on truckin'?" -
"I have to admit this is turning out to be one of the more interesting trips I've had to a doctor's office." remarked Sam wryly as they got back into the lobby. He said it all in good fun, but he didn't really want to run the topic into the ground. He set a mental note to try to remember to ask Dr. Haviland how on earth her face wasn't bright fuchsia after all this, especially after having to walk through the lobby that they had left just a moment ago. And it's not like they were just some anonymous group. The girl with 8ft of golden hair and the robot tend to attract a good deal of attention. Sam wasn't sure if he had attracted any attention. He had a relatively plain looking face, so even though it was plastered everywhere after the Grue Invasion, many people don't recognize him on sight anymore.

After double checking the math, he does have 210 spent at this point. And I don't even know what the heck's wrong with the line up at the top. Also, what do you intend to get out of the Benefit (Fame) that's not already covered by his Reputation and charisma?

Weight: 200 lbs Hair: Brown Eyes: Brown Age: 37 Description: Samael is a person of average height, and is quite stocky. He is just built solid. He's got that real "working man" look. There's nothing fancy about him, just jeans and a T-Shirt. He keeps his hair cut just a bit longer than a buzz cut. He has a rather prominent jaw line as well. His arms and hands have a few scars from a life of working with his hands. Although not often noticed, his hands are quite a bit bigger than they normally would be for a person of his size. Using his shapeshifting, Atlas can assume a wide variety of forms and shapes. He however tends to always be a stockier version of whatever he happens to be transforming into. History: Samael is of Russian decent. His parents were part of the cultural enrichment program, meaning they were sent away and never seen again. With that sort of up bringing, he learned quickly to keep his head down, work hard, don't say anything and most importantly of all, volunteer for nothing. Although he disliked the regime, he was wise enough to keep his opinions to himself. When the government crumbled, Samael got out of Russia. He spent a few years bouncing around Europe doing odd jobs here and there and eventually scrounged up enough cash to journey to America. While it wasn't everything he had hoped for, it was still a step up from where he had been. Unfortunately, all he had to his name was a single suitcase full worth of clothes and a few bills. So he settled in the Fens district in Freedom City, it being about the only place he could afford. He landed a job working at a local deli. It was boring work, but it paid the bills and kept him fed. But there was one thing that bothered him. From his upbringing, the idea that everyone works together to advance the whole was ingrained in his head. He couldn't tolerate people who would steal or try to cheat the system. These criminals and thugs thought they had it tough; they didn't know the meaning of the word. No matter how bad it was, Samael had never considered turning against the law. If you worked real hard, things would get better. America was the land of opportunity, he just had to help these thugs get back on the straight and narrow. He dedicated himself to protecting his own little section of the street, and for a while, it worked. But then the local gangs decided to teach this guy a lesson. Samael could take on 2 or 3 guys, if he caught them by surprise, but when they caught him by surprise, well... it wasn't pretty. As the life left his body... something reached out to him. He rose from the ground, to face his assailants, now something entirely different. With his new found gifts, Samael is expanding his territory, protecting more and more of the city. Personality & Motivation: Although he looks a bit scary, Samael is a really good guy. He's dutiful, loyal and very determined. He favors the tough love approach. He loathes criminals and those that would cheat the system. He believes that they all have good in them and can succeed if only they had the chance. Samael intends to give them that chance. He's got a bit of a dry sense of humor, and is usually a man of few words. The tough guy exterior quickly melts when he's around animals, especially his cat Sprinkles. Since the Invasion, Atlas has stayed out of the lime light, trying to get a handle on things from his own perspective first. Powers & Tactics: As a Grue-human hybrid, Atlas is far more formidable than the average human. However, as he was created for a singular purpose, his Shapeshifting is more limited than that of a Grue warrior. In all forms, Atlas possess immense strength and durability. He can only use his Shapeshifting ability to increase his natural talents, he can't make himself worse in any regard. He also possess a small degree of mental prowess. The strength of his mental powers increases geometrically the closer he is to his target. Complications: Responsibility: Upholding the law, protecting his stretch of the city, Sprinkles (his cat) The Grue Invasion - It's been revealed that Atlas was a Grue/human hybrid created by the Grue as a bioweapon for the destruction of Earth. He got better. Public relations did not. Have you been working out? - All of Atlas' forms tend to be stocky and well muscled versions of what he's copying, so when he tries to impersonate someone it looks like they've been hitting the gym recently, which can ruin the disguise to those that know the target. Magnets! How Do They Work? Science, You Clown! [IC]
Geez3r replied to Dr Archeville's topic in West End
"Well to be fair, for the longest time, my only interest in science was in the field of "The Mythbusters blowing stuff up" but once I got my powers, I kind of felt obligated to do more science-y things, you know?" explained Eli. "I was never really that smart, and I'm really not that relatively smart even now. I just have the ability to beat my head against a problem until it makes sense." he said with a shrug. "I'm an open book Dok, what would you like to know?" -
You need to denote what your standard ability scores are, and what they are when they when they are enhanced. Example: STR: 14/24 (+2/+7) Typo in your feats, you've spent 17pp there, not 16. You also need to update the formatting to the powers section. Example: Blast 10 Extras: Autofire; PF's: Improved Critical, Split Attack [32pp] Blast 10 Extras: Autofire; PF's: Improved Critical, Split Attack [32pp]

Magnets! How Do They Work? Science, You Clown! [IC]
Geez3r replied to Dr Archeville's topic in West End
Eli for his part was quite taken aback to see the good Doctor there waiting for him apparently. Dr. Archeville was effectively his boss and he acted it most of the time. Sure he was a nice enough guy, and things would be quite amiss from time to time. It's just a jolt to see the guy effectively be waiting for your in your dorm room. Yeah technically he owned the building too, but it was a little weird. Still, not wanting to get on Dok's bad side, a side which was curiously missing recently, Eli slid into the chair across from Archeville as he shoveled the last bit of chilli into his mouth at high speed so he could give Dok his full attention. Once he was followed, he asked the obvious question "Ehhh, What's up Doc? Sorry, couldn't help it." -
There have been awkward elevator rides since elevators had first been invented. But this had to be one of the weirder ones by a really large margin. For a moment there Atlas just stood facing the doors, sticking his mental probes back into his noggin, not needing them for the time being. And then when the alarm system came online, he practically jumped out of his skin. It was an old habit he was never quite able to break; he has a terrible jump reflex when he's startled. He prayed to god every night that Avenger or Jack of all Blades never learned of that particular weakness. Bodiless computers were even worse, alarm systems in particular. Realizing he wasn't in any particular danger, he turned to Dr. Haviland half shouting "Turn it off!" as he tried to peel Protectron off the wall.
-
So is Protectron stuck to the wall or not? I'm not clear on that.
-
Eli had been a little more quiet today than he had been previously. He wasn't depressed, as evidenced by him trying to play jingle bells with his santa hat, but he just seemed a lot more relaxed and slowed down than he had been. It was a pleasant change. He was quite enthralled with Archeville's present to him. Ever since he had gotten more interested with the more sciency stuff, he had more of an appreciation for all these gizmo's. And coo-coo clocks were the original gizmo. He liked the whole precision based aspect of it. And as far as his super senses could tell, Doc had this down to the thousand of a second. Very swanky. "Holy crap Doc. I knew you were good, but dayum."
-
Indeed it did. Downloading the latest patch (1534MB) right now.

Atlas was all set to shoo the robot away and move on with his day, when he was suddenly hit by a twinge of guilt. If he was to ignore this robot for the sake of being awkward, he'd be really, really hypocritical. He was part alien, and he had the speed dial for a demon, a witch, a vampire and a zombie. Yet this was an awkward situation. They were even calling the robot "it". Pot calling the kettle black at its finest. "Well if you're going to work here, might as well learn. And you never know, he could wind up picking up some human mannerisms if we interact enough with him. Or at least that's how it works in the movies." said Atlas mentally to Gossamer. "Nah, you can tag along... uh, Protectron was it?" said Atlas as he extended his hand to the robot.
-
"" responded Atlas as he went for a longer and higher leap, seeing that Lady Winter could still keep up with him quite easily. "As for what happened to me in Russia, I was there for about 5 months so it's a rather long story. Suffice to say that me getting in a bar fight and being arrested a few hours after I got into Russia was one of the high points of the trip.>" said Atlas with a laugh as if he had just told a dead baby joke.
-
Atlas had to chuckle at that. He had actually forgotten Lady Winter had taken a spill a moment ago because he recovered from the embarrassment so quickly. "Alright then. See if you can keep up." said Atlas as some steam came out of his mouth due to the dropping temperature. He took off at a fast jog towards one edge of the roof, hitting running speed for the last two steps, and then he was airborne. He managed to go roughly 200 feet in a single bound, skipping over 2 buildings and landing on the third. He went fast enough to show off, but slow enough that Lady Winter could likely keep up easily. "I feel like I've been asking all the questions. is there anything you'd like to ask me?" called out Atlas as he reached the apex of his leap.
-
"Uhhhh. yeah sure. That'd be okay I guess." said Atlas again uncertainly. He had thought that the robot was indeed one of those service bot things from the movies when Dr. de Haviland didn't introduce the two of them, assuming that the robot wasn't worth the introduction you would give a human. Maybe it was programmed to be as helpful as it could in all scenarios? Seems like something they would need here because they were likely doing something different every week or something, and they didn't have the time to reprogram all of them. Or at least Atlas had assumed there was a them. As of right now, he had only seen one of them. Dr. de Haviland felt a soft prod at her mind as Atlas's voice was suddenly in her head. "So what's the deal with the robot here?" He really didn't like using his mental powers all that much, but this was really, really awkward.
-
Atlas kind of hovered a little uncomfortably as Protectron made his call to Gossamer, unsure if he should engage the robot in small talk while they waited for Gossamer to make her way down to the lobby. He was relieved to hear the sound of clacking hells on the floor rapidly approaching them. Atlas returned her handshake with a smile "The pleasure's all mine, I assure you." He was a bit surprised to see how professional she looked. Well surprised probably isn't the right word. It's just that super heroes spent so much of their time dressed like idiots you kind of forget that they actually have careers outside of their hero work. He unconsciously smiled realizing that he didn't have much room to talk either as he spent most of hero time in attire that would let him fit right in a Calvin Klein commercial. "No thank you, I ate before I came here. So, now that we're here, think you can start explaining what you've got planned? I know you said some stuff on the phone, but you used a bit of technobabble, and I got lost pretty darn quickly."
-
"...Uuuuhhh..." replied Atlas intelligently. "Uh, yeah. I- I am good. I have an appointment with Dr. Estelle de Haviland." said Atlas attempting to regain his composure. He opted to go without the accent as he was unsure if the robot would correct him on his "bad" pronunciation, and he was trying to do this as incognito as possible, speaking with an accent makes you stand out. Usually anyways. "The name's Samael Nitorvich, if you need it." continued Atlas a little unsure. He thought Protectron here was one of those guide bots they showed in all those sci-fi movies, but in this city you're never sure.
-
I've got no problem with opening it to the floor as it were if Heritage doesn't.
-
"...you do realize I could've gotten you actual Chinese food from China anytime you wanted if you just asked me, right?" muttered Eli mostly to himself as Grim scampered off. Eli felt it hard mustard the outrage necessary to call her out while wearing a Santa hat however. "Wow really? Totally need to relate that story at some point." said Eli impressed with Jack's news. Eli looked like he was about to say something else, and then another thought popped into his head. "Well I guess that means you two deserve extra special holiday hugs!" exclaimed Eli as he rushed at the brother and sister, grabbing one in each arm. "Merry Christmas!"Though this was the holidays, Eli knew full well the only way he could touch Jill is if he was within Jack's line of site, preferably within stabpunch range.

So Champions Online has been available for a really long time, but on the 25th, they are making the game Free to Play. A free to play character has to use one of 8 archetypes and your free to play account only has 2 character slots. You otherwise have full access to the entirety of the game with the exception of certain costume sets. You also don't have to buy the game either. You can download the demo off of Steam for free, and when the game launches on the 25th, you will automatically be upgraded to a Silver Player (what they are referring to as a Free to Play member). You can also likely download it from other sources, but I can't confirm that personally. Be forewarned however that they just released a pre-patch for the F2P launch and the patch is 1512MB, along with any other patches released since the game went live, plus the game itself. In short: it's a big honking download. But if you feel fancy, you can go make your character, find a nice secluded spot somewhere on the server, crank the graphics to max, hit Alt + F12 to make the menus disappear (hit it again to make them reappear) and take a screen cap to have a new custom made character portrait. Oh, and I guess you could play the game too.
